I ordered a Mushroom Burger with the French Fties and Medium Drink. I was charged $10.99 for the burger, $6.50 for medium soda and fries. Additional $2.95;for another medium drink. I also ordered Deluxe (tomato & lettuce) for additional.99 cents. I paid a total of $21.40. When I received my order, it did not have the Lettuxe and Tomato'. I went back to cashier and to her i ordered Delux. She stated burger did not come with Lettuce and Tomato. I informed her that I ordered it. She took burger back to the Cook. Cook which turned out to be very angry aggressive grumbling (and I take it the Owner), ranting that he was not going to Refund me. Confused, I said I was not asking gor a Redund. I arrived in the evening while the open sign was still illuminated. The restaurant was empty and appeared to have been prepped for closing. Mall closes at 9pm I arrived at 7pm... I didn't notice hours of business posted but I may have just missed it in my quick scan. I called out as no one was present at the counter. A female came from behind and let me know that they were only serving drinks and no food. That was fine as I went there knowing that it was the one place at the mall that I could get an iced coffee, black with boba. I have ordered it multiple times with no problem... until this evening. First thing is that she had no personality, which is fine... I don't expect a musical number with flashing lights. But customer service seems to be a thing of the past. This is not the first time my family and I have visited where the delivered ambience is less than inviting. The reports in previous reviews are true. Customer service needs work. There is no excuse... it doesn't matter how old you are. Remember that you represent not just yourself and the business you work for.... but your 'Ohana as well. Anyhow, the response to my order was rude. I was told that it won't be done. Not that it couldn't be done but that her boss will not allow her to make that drink. He even stepped out from behind to rudely tell me that they won't make that drink and I can only order what is on the menu and quickly left to the back. Now I believe I was doing just that. In fact, my order was a simplified version of any of their iced coffee orders. I asked if they only serve premixed coffee to make a point and that earned me a rudely delivered: "we ONLY serve fresh brewed coffee" with a complimentary eye roll. My point exactly. The problem was that the coffee was only going to be served with milk added to the shots. Not just water and ice. I even received an irritated flash of their menu by the female pointing out the options I could ONLY choose from. So I repeated my order in simple form: Iced coffee with boba, no milk or flavored sweetener. She appeared to become intensely annoyed and told me "He. Will. Not. Let. Me. Make. It. That. Way." That spoke volumes and I decided to take my business elsewhere. No one should have to work in an environment like that. Management can make or break the team. I love this place. Japchae noodles, SHRIMP BOIL (Friday, Saturday, Sunda), Mochiko chicken, the sauce from the Ginger Chicken, Caramel Frap w/Boba, Honeydew, and Taro Boba drinks are a great option as well when you want something cold and sweet. Of course, it matters on WHO is working. I always make sure the owners are there when I go to ensure the quality of service and food is up to par. I know for a fact that they both take pride in their business and it is everything to them. I have experienced not so great service in the past from previous workers, but in recent times the girls in there have been so nice and accommodating. I have high hopes for this establishment as they acquired a new cook some time ago and have revamped their menu. I always order the Shrimp Boil pan whenever I have an event I need to attend or host. Absolutely terrible service. Today was the last time I'll ever try them. Whenever I go in, no one even acknowledges our existence. We stand around like lost fools waiting to order while the staff is busy looking like their pissed at the world. Once I went in and they got my order wrong, they took it back to "correct" it and when I got it back it tasted like they dumped a crazy amount of salt in it. If you're looking for a quick bit they do have an Ala Carte menu with musubi, fried rice, noodles, different types of chicken, fish, beef, vegetables and tempuras. But go early as it sells out pretty quickly. Do know that in the later afternoon to close there can be a long wait if ordering plates as they are usually short on staff. They're located in Hilo's mall, the only mall on the Big Island, Prince Kuhio Shopping Plaza. I used to come here a lot I high school--pretty much anytime we were in Hilo. Hit or miss. Sometimes the staff is friendly, sometimes not. Sometimes the food is hot and fresh, other times the food on the hot bar is cold. I also got food poisoning from here once, as did a couple of my coworkers. I think it is the scissors they use to cut their meat at the hot bar.
