Egg Rolls
Nanea W.

First time coming here and very delicious. I ordered the 6 piece egg rolls ($13) and absolutely loved it. So crunchy and the sweet chili sauce on the side was amazing. For the price I think it's worth it especially when you eat it fresh. Staff is friendly and there was no line when we went. Definitely would come back and try other things on the menu!

Dumplings and summer rolls

I'm giving this restaurant a 4 out of 5 star review for a few simple reasons. 1.) the waiting time for us to order took a while, especially for another customer that was sitting in front of me. When I placed my order they just got sated and when I received my food they were still waiting to be ordered. Not to mention that the waitress who took both of our orders was complaining about her health issues. Sorry that you're going through a lot but I'm just hungry. My family and I ordered the rare beef pho which was surprisingly priced right for how big it was, and summer rolls and dumplings that were soft and had bits of noodles inside. The food overall was delicious and it made us very full. The tables and seating were cheap. We could tell immediately that the tables and chairs were plastic but we didn't care as we only cared for how the food tasted. They also have ginger candy they sell on the side and it's really addicting! I put some in my tea last night and it was a really tasty remedy for a cold night.

Tofu bahn mi

Hidden gem of a spot, great food, quick service. Love the huge bahn mi's with lots of pickled veg, cucumber, jalapeño and marinaded tofu. Wish my photo shows how big the sandwich is but I ate half of it. Parking lot is limited but lots of space to park across the street.

Chicken BanhMi no cilantro

Hands down the best Vietnamese BanhMi I've had. Was craving the banhmi for a while and decided to give this place a try. The parking was packed but I was able to find a spot and I was in and out of there within 10 minutes. I ordered the Chicken BanhMi without cilantro. (I'm not a fan of cilantro) the bread was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, not soggy at all. The daikon and carrots were perfect, not vinegary and it was loaded with flavorful chicken pieces. It's outdoors.. I mean what do you expect from a food truck, however if you plan on eating there, there are picnic tables under shade. I will definitely come back if ever I'm craving a BanhMi!!

Awesome place, fast service. Always kind people. Food is delicious. Prices are reasonable

Visit the Hawaii Tropical Garden, then head down to King's for an excellent meal (about 35 minutes drive with cooperative traffic).

We heard about this place from Yelp Reviews, which let's face it aren't always written by trustworthy people. However, in this case the positive reviews are well founded. We ordered the beef Pho, and the shrimp summer rolls. First off, the summer rolls are HUGE... each is about 6" long and packed with fresh veggies, aromatic herbs, perfectly cooked noodles, and tasty shrimp. The peanut fish-sauce (which I mixed with Sriracha) was the perfect dip for the rolls and my wife thought they were some of the best she's ever had. I agree. A single order of rolls is a full meal by itself, by the way... you could easily satiate a small child with one roll, and my wife could have filled herself with the full order of rolls (3 rolls if memory serves). The Pho was also fantastic. The broth, which is the foundation of any good (or bad) Pho, was delicious, savory, hot, and packed with all the umami flavors we love... The beef was tender and perfectly prepared with salty hints of basil and onion, and I'd be willing to bet the broth is made with a very old recipe passed down... it had the complexity of a broth handmade with pride and passion for authenticity. The truck and the outdoor picnic tables are nothing special, but I couldn't care less what the area or the outside of a truck looks like... all that matters is their food is hot, fresh, and delicious... and on these three criteria we are happy to rank King's with 5 stars. By the way, we called ahead and the food was ready for pickup when we arrived. The prices are a bit on the high side, but top quality food like this takes a lot of preparation and the price paid is fair given the quality and deliciousness. Mahalo for an excellent meal! (which we enjoyed while watching sunset, sitting on our lanai at the Westin Hapuna Beach after a 1 hour drive over the saddle road). Aloha.

Came to this food truck when on a day trip for work from Oahu. I love a good Vietnamese sandwich and have to say this place is amazing! Packed with pickled veggies and delicious pork and both were perfect. The bread itself was a step above most banh mi places as it had a developed taste, chew, and just the right amount of crunch. Sadly I don't live near this truck, otherwise I'd be coming here a LOT!! I wish I could have tried their soups. We also got an order of their egg rolls and dumplings, the dumplings were killer!

Banh Mi so big I had to cut it in half; he also makes pho (out of his food truck)!

Neighborhood Vietnamese food truck! Biggest banh mis around, might want to cut in half, 2 people can share. Meat is really good and there's LOTS of it, with just as much veggies but I still might ask for less meat to make it a perfect ratio for my personal preference. Rolls are big as well. His Pho is so refreshing, one of the cleanest I've had but not bland. Made us feel good after. Highly recommend. He even has Banh Xeo, which may be the first on island? Dumplings were fine but I'd rather steer you towards pho and banh mi.

About 1/4 of my Chicken Banh Mi sandwich left - so good!

Food was tasty. Wait time was very little. Felt like a little hole in the wall place. But the pho was better than a few places in Hilo.

First off, any place my wife wants to go to several times means it must be at the top of the food chain! Pho Viet is located in back of Garden Exchange. Apparently there are two pho places so look for Pho Viet - on the right side. Be careful when walking from Haili street as there are sketchy people hanging out on both sides of the road. (What happened Hilo??). Unfortunately there is hardly any parking so you probably have to walk to the restaurant from away. When you go inside the place is pretty small like 6-8 tables but it's constantly filled with people. They all look like they are enjoying their meal. The lady that runs the place is super nice and lets my wife bring her own "additions" to the pho. The pho is really good and you can choose from the usual choices - flank, beef round, tendon, meatball. The broth is delicious and you can order extra noodles which I did. The chili pepper sauce is really really good but make sure you taste and taste. I made mine a little too spicy and had to add more broth - which they made and gave to me. Excellent!!!!!! After eating the bowl, I felt good. I was stuffed but in a good way. The feeling lasted all night and I never had to eat again for the rest of the day and I slept great ! There was a constant flow of people. I guess everyone knows how good this place is. My brother in law says this place is the best in Hilo. I believe it.

We showed up right when they opened at 5:30 p.m. without reservations on a Wednesday evening and was luckily able to get seated at the bar. Between the two of us, we ordered a bunch of items off the "small" section of the menu, including the smokey sashimi, sizzling tetsuyaki poke, smoked tonnato caesar, crispy rice, and their special of the day -- agedashi wontons. Of the items we ordered, the crispy rice and the agedashi wontons were my favorite items. The crispy rice is priced per piece, and you'll certainly want to order at least two per person, because one is simply not enough. The rice block is fried a beautiful golden brown -- similar to a hash brown. The crispy rice pairs perfectly with the ono mixture on top of it. With the agedashi wontons, I initially thought the filling was a bit under-seasoned at first, but when enjoyed with the broth, the wonton comes out tasting perfectly seasoned. The broth had so much umami to it and the wonton had the perfect crunch to it I always love a good Caesar salad and the one here is spectacular. With anchovy croutons, shaved cured egg yolk, and smoked ahi dressing, you're getting some creative, premium ingredients in this salad and everything works so well together. Even if you're not a salad person, I would definitely recommend giving this dish a try. On top of delicious food, the service at Moon & Turtle was spectacular. Food was promptly brought out after we placed our order, pacing didn't ever feel rushed, our water cups were never empty, and our server checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. I would definitely stop by Moon & Turtle again if I'm in Hilo.

The servers were running around all night, and it seemed that they were a little bit understaffed. However, they still did their best to attend to us, and food came out promptly. As most other pho shops, they provide plenty of bean sprouts, mint, lemons, and sauces (oyster sauce/Sriracha) to enjoy. Pho Rare Beef (6.5/10) - the broth was good, flavorful, rich and salty as expected from Vietnamese pho. As this spot is kind of a Viet/Chinese fusion, don't go in expecting the best pho of your life. However, the broth is definitely delicious and will fix your pho cravings - only comment is regarding the beef itself. Some of the pieces were definitely a little thicker, tougher, and at points difficult to chew. The beef was not then these sliced into the brisket that I'm used to finding, but that's OK Overall, pretty good pho spot on the Big Island with quite tasty broth. Only wish that the beef was either thinner and easier to chew, or more tender.
