Unless my wife is really craving rice noodle I'm not going back. This used to be my favorite restaurant for years I would cater to this restaurant. Today however I doubt I'll be returning for a long time. I ordered a beef and spring roll plate with cold noodles. I usually get it with just the spring rolls but today I wanted more protein. However the beef tasted very old and freezer burnt. I couldn't eat it. It sat on my plate as the waitress came by and asked how was my food. I told her about the meat being inedible and she said she'd let them know. I decided to start writing this review a minute after she left and obviously they don't care about their quality or any bit of customer satisfaction as she never returned. I come here every so often while I'm in town. I usually order their cold noodle selections. I love the sauce. Vinegary and a hint of patis. Take-out usually takes about 5-10 minutes. Ordered their House Special Crispy Noodles at $17.99 for takeout. This is what I received. The noodles were not crispy since they placed the vegetables and sauce on the noodles in one container. So it was essentially just an order of fried noodles which is priced at $13.99. To make it worse, it was unremarkable in taste. Besides the pages and pages of menu options in the actual menu, there are also several daily specials listed on the white board beware he cash register. Oh, and let's say you are in a hurry or want to take your food home to eat it..... there is a take out window, too! My friend and I ordered the fish fried rice, the lemon chicken and the string beans. Everything was flavorful and delicious. The chicken was crispy, the string beans were fresh and the fried rice had just enough salt. The ambiance leaves a little to be desired, but I don't think anyone comes in here for the ambiance. You are immediately greeted and seated. The food here is all very tasty, fresh, and served with love. I always have the Seafood Crispy Noodle with the Minced Chicken Lettuce Cups. These are a must-have in my humble opinion. Also their fried rolls are so hot, crispy. The sauce is spot-on as well!!! Ok, this is a MUST stop spot. Hilo Rice Noodle aka "HRN." This is a great spot to sit down and catch up with friends. The food, PERFECT! You have to get the "Vice Special." You won't find it on the menu; it is a well-kept secret for the elite :) Also try their spring rolls, sooooo yummy! It comes with three on the plate, I recommend doubling up as we do. I loved this place before they started shrinking the portions way before the pandemic happened. Would eat here many times a week. Now I limit myself to once a month. Portion sizes are still getting smaller. I wouldn't eat here at all if it wasn't so close to my house. Also, here's a big tip. Check your receipt and how much your food costs. Every time I come here, my bill is a different number. My order is the same but the cost is not. Even if I ask for a total before heading over to pick up, I still have a different amount to pay.
