Horrible experience, please stay away from this specific Sunglass Hut at pier 39 or at 2 Beach street San Francisco.
Located right in the middle of Fisherman's Wharf tourist bed. owner: Victor.
I bought a pair or expensive MauiJim sun glasses from them and I recall the warranty discussion on the product on purchase, that if anything happens to the product they would exchange it on the spot for a new pair for a period of 2 years.
I live locall, returns of merchandise are probably rare for this store since of the nature of this transient tourist location.
5 months after my purchase , my glasses broke under normal usages and I went back to the store to trade for a new identical pair, while having my broken pair in hand.
On my arrival through their computer systems, they could not find my purchase..., my name or email... nothing....They looked at me saying, that I didn't exist in their systems...the burden was on me to prove it.
I found the purchase details and date from my online banking records and voila!, out of a sudden they found me in their system and details.
But they could not honor the previous garantee discuss...a new policy that started ON THAT DAY...JUST NOW?!? Happen where they could not do the exchange, I had to send the broken glasses directly to the manufacturer myself, because Maui Jim just changed their return policy and the shop keeper handed me a flyer as to how to return them myself...
MauiJim request a printed record of the purchase, so I asked SunglassHut to print me a receipt of my purchase and that I'd send it myself.
I also spoke on the phone to the owner that when I bought the glasses from them they said they'd give me a pair on the spot and no hassles from my side!, he replied that it's not SunglassHut policy...
I then waited for my printed receipt and again somehow their printer could not do it, and JUST broke....they wrote me a receipt by hand on a post it....
Which is not what MauiJim is asking....
But SunglassHut said that's all they could do.
I was with my kids that day and the whole thing took over an hour of my time to get nothing helpful from it.
I also omitted lots of other chatters and lies the shop keepers were telling me, but my hope from this writting will go to someone who will make sure my letter of complain is solved and that my new glasses come in the mail. If not then please people avoid this store.
