I love coming to this Market Street LensCrafters location--not only because it's close to my home, but because everyone here is genuinely wonderful. My appointment started right on time, and as always, my experience with Dr. Ng was excellent. I've been seeing her for a few years now, and she is consistently thorough, kind, and attentive. What I appreciate most is that my exam never feels rushed or cookie-cutter. Dr. Ng always asks detailed questions about my glasses and contact lenses, and she often lets me try different lenses to see what works best. She explains everything clearly while still making sure the final decision is mine. My exam usually takes about an hour, and it always feels comprehensive. The entire staff is professional, friendly, and helpful. I truly recommend this location and the people who work here. They make every visit a great experience. read more

We had a really upsetting experience here. The prescription my daughter received was wrong, and it affected her so badly that she was in tears and couldn't even go to school for three days. When we brought it up, instead of taking responsibility, we were still charged and told there are no refunds. That's honestly unacceptable, especially when it's clearly their mistake and it impacted a child. I also asked multiple times to have us removed from their system, and they still haven't done it. We will definitely not be coming back. Very disappointing experience. read more

I only stopped in because it's near my office--I live closer to the Mountain View location, where the staff is actually friendly and professional. Extremely expensive and they are unclear on their pricing. I came in for a prescription exam and was asked if I wanted both contacts and glasses and I asked if they were separate services and they said yes. I said I just wanted contacts prescription and they were like okay. By their wording, I was led to believe that I was just getting contacts prescription but in reality it was "contacts and glasses prescription AND contacts fitting" so I unknowingly said yes to getting "fitted" to my contacts for an additional $75 (a service of which consisted of me just putting the contacts they recommended in myself which took like 1 minute and that was it). They need to be clearer about the pricing, their wording, and the options you have to choose. They also said that the exam itself was a total of $124 and didn't mention that included in this price is the optomap $39, a service which you have the option to deny and just choose getting you eyes dilated instead, thus I could have just paid $85 for the exam. But they choose to say the entire exam is $124 first and foremost to get you to pay more. Doctor was extremely nice which was great. Long wait time despite setting an appointment and the exam itself... not sure it was comprehensive enough to warrant the price. read more

I live in SF and since Ray-Ban stores aren't as accessible here anymore, I was told to try LensCrafters since they are both under the Luxottica umbrella. I am so glad I did! Eduardo was absolutely awesome. He was incredibly friendly, kind, and helped me swap out my lenses until they looked good as new. Because of this experience, I'm a LensCrafters fan for life and will be coming back here for all my future sunglasses and optical needs. read more

I came into this store today to purchase my new Meta displays and worked with a gentleman named Steven. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. Steven was not friendly, barely smiled, and showed no warmth or genuine customer service. Because my eyesight isn't the best, I kindly asked him if he could turn on the display in the glasses so I could make sure my vision was good enough to see clearly. He gave me a very stern "no" with no explanation and poor body language. He said someone was waiting for a demo -- but I wasn't asking for a demo, just a quick five-second check to see if my eyes adjusted to the display. I asked a second time, making it clear I didn't need a full demo, and he again replied with an unnecessarily stern, dismissive tone and facial expression. I wish there were other LensCrafters nearby where I could have made this purchase instead. The LensCrafters team in Colma is far more professional and customer-focused compared to this store. Steven should not be in a customer-facing role if this is how he treats people. To make things worse, this store locks the doors while customers are inside, which feels unsafe and could be a fire code violation. I assume it's done to prevent theft, but it doesn't feel safe for shoppers. I would not recommend this location to anyone who values good service or a welcoming environment. read more

I explained that I was in an urgent situation where I forgot to bring extra lenses on my trip to SF (I use daily lenses) and wanted to simply buy some samples or even a month's supply of lenses after I provide my prescription which I did have with me. I was told that their policy is that they don't sell lenses to non-customers unless I buy at least a 6 month supply. The alternative is that I would have to schedule and pay for an exam, which I did not need. They would not budge on this "policy". What a miserable practice read more

-1 doctor was late for my appointment. Doctor was Marilyn Ng. She was also a bit too "blonde" if you know what I mean. You know what, make an appointment and you'll see what I mean -2 tried on some glasses because wanted a new style. Before you try them on, be aware they are dirty. It gave me a nose pimple. When was the last time they were cleaned?! And they are also very expensive. Anywhere between 300-900 dollars. -2 the person who helped was a mixed woman with short hair and clear glasses. She was nice don't get me wrong. What really killed me was are we really still trying to sale people blue light glasses? There is little evidence out there that it helps reduce eye strain. With my insurance and the frames I wanted (about $320), it still came out to close to $500-600 dollars. It was crazy. I am now understanding why most people would prefer to go to smaller practices versus this corporate BS. read more

I scheduled a morning eye exam appointment here last Saturday and am very happy that I did. I was overdue for an eye exam because the last exam I had was back in 2020. The establishment was very clean and organized and the staff and eye doctor were all very friendly and helpful. The staff member Jackie did a great job of my pre-screening and Brandon was really helpful in picking out some Ray Ban frames for me. Dr. Jasmine Nguyen had a great personality and did an excellent job of my eye exam. The staff and doctors are really friendly. That is what makes this review so difficult. I'm not ok with is having to wait 15+ because the staff is running behind. Every Single Time I have an appointment. And I'm someone who always arrives at doctor's appointments 10-15 minutes early to be courteous of the medical providers' time. Time is money, LensCrafters. I think this will be my last visit to this location and possibly the national chains. Updating to say that they were 20 min late performing my assessment and 40 min late seeing the doctor. I'm pretty sure the patient before me was a walk-in that they squeezed in, which is why my appointment and the two following me were all delayed. read more

Needed to come in before insurance expired in recent past, was told December was too busy. Wasn't able to use insurance that year as a result. In addition, was told a male doctor there was an RX in their system from who had seen me there never had worked for them. Had picked out a tortoise-shell plastic frame with splashes of blue earlier in the year. Delays after delays, took over a month. When handed the glasses there was no blue at all on the frame. Frame itself was twisted, was told that was because the glasses were new. Lenses way too heavy and thick, and something was off, couldn't see out of them, made me dizzy. Remake: Went back to former frame which was still in stock. Much smaller eye size, frame, etc. But given thickness of lenses in previous pair, paid an extra $132.00 for the clearest, lightest, thinnest lenses. I'd gotten them in my reading glasses, and liked them. But lenses in smaller frame were actually thicker and heavier when they came in, and again, there was a problem with the axis or cylinder. Made me feel totally off-balance. Didn't have those problem with reading glasses made there recently. Brought remade pair back. Was given misinformation and excuses for thickness of lenses - I used to work for an optician and optometrist. I disagreed with what I was being told, so manager asked what I didn't understand - very insulting! I know when I'm being lied to, and people are trying to rip me off. Like with repeated nosepiece adjustment requests. Four times I asked for an adjustment of the nosepiece because of red marks and sliding. They pretended to adjust, didn't. No changes made at all. Wouldn't remake to proper, lighter thickness, which I'd paid more for. Was told they felt I wouldn't be happy regardless of what they did. Not true, I just wanted what I'd paid for. Thinner, lighter, more modern lens material. Was told they'd only refund. Refund amount showed up for a few hours on my credit card account, then totally disappeared. More games. But I have a hot print of it, and of the return/credit receipt. I called my bank, and they advised that if Lens Crafters don't refund that a claim will be filed against them. Wouldn't recommend the 685 Market Street location to anyone not young and well-to-do. Yes, they take insurance others don't, but there is definite prejudice against older women, particularly senior citizens. And discounts are not consistent. I was actually relieved they wouldn't remake the glasses, now I don't have to go into that distrusted location ever again. 6/15/2025 read more

This place keeps canceling my appointments without giving me any time to confirm the appointment. First time this happened, I opened the confirmation email only 3 hours after it was sent. Tried to confirm and was met with a message saying the slot was no longer available. This time, I opened about an hour later, tried to confirm, and AGAIN was met with the message saying my time was taken. Unbelievable. Why should I book with you when there are an abundance of more reliable providers? Goodbye I will not miss the 5+minute receipt-printing transactions, or the endless wait times either (the technology LensCrafters uses is SO SLOW -- don't go for anything unless you have 1-2 hours blocked out of your schedule). read more

Terrible customer service. They remade my lenses 4 times with 7 visits and still didn't deliver the ask - thinner lenses to fit Dior's S20 frame that don't cause fishball effect so I can walk with those lenses. First time, the lenses were so bulky and with the fish all effect, the salesman bent my frames to try to reduce the fishball effect. It didn't work and another salesman said I need a new pair because they cannot bent the frame like this. I had to do it the second time (they told me on my third visit). Fourth visit, the color of frame were ordered wrong. Then fifth visit, they changed my lenses to a relatively thinner one but the fishball effect is still there. 6th visit, I had to come back to do an eye exam to reduce my prescription and the 7th visit, the lenses were swapped to a cheaper version which I can see the blue color reflection around the edges. The salesman didn't even listen and they continuously making the same mistakes and in the end, they told me those were the exact lenses but refused to show me the specs of what I had last time. Before I even complain about the numerous visits, this sales guy even said I took the advantage of the 30 day exchange policy which is extremely ridiculous. Which customer wants to come back 7 times for the same order that store can never deliver due to the incompetency of the salesmen? The worst experience and customer service you can ever have for the first pair of lenses. Don't go here if you value your time and money. read more

Only speaking for the optometrist portion at this facility and not the glasses buying portion - I believe they're called Market Street Optometry Provider! Staff was super helpful checking me into my appointment and getting the pre-exam work done. I have the pleasure of having Dr. Marilyn Ng as my optometrist and she is super friendly and thorough! Been going here for 3 years straight and have recommended quite a few of my friends to see Dr. Ng :-) They do eye glasses and contacts exams, and they even have separate area for learning how to get contacts in which is great. You can also get a quote from them with your insurance coverage of how much glasses and/or contacts will cost at their facility. read more

She is informative and friendly and does a great job. The exams are about $150 with the six-month reorder at $140. So it's a spendy jaunt. Still getting used to the remodel. the doctor and exam experience was good. This review is about their retail/ prescription services. I gave 1 star because I the optometrist has its own page. I provided my 2 existing frames. One came back damaged way looser due to the way they cut the lenses. Too flat/larger than it should have been. I asked about it the first time and the associate suggested to just tighten them which she did but ofc that clearly wasn't the issue. When I took the pair home they kept slipping off. I took them back the next day and I was received with an irritated and semi rude behavior. This other associate (he seemed like he didn't work there) he kept asking me to tell him what I solution I would prefer because he has no idea and one thing for sure they wouldn't be able you provide a repair or replacement since he doesn't think it is their responsibility. He said this to me and after I expressed my confusion. Two more people came to help. They both still disregarded most of the details I explained. One of them took the pair and tried molding it. This slightly improved the fit but after wearing for more than 5 min it started again slipping off and clearly was nothing close to their original standard fit. The second pair, it was supposed to be tinted but then they forgot to do so. I had to explain that and when they eventually realized they suggested to send the lens back. Few days later I got the tinted lenses but most of the edges looked chipped. My takeaways are: They are not qualified and extremely lack basic skills like using the right lens size fitting. (Also i know my vision never really change and they tried lying about maybe a different size/thickness was needed) They could easily become rude and very unethical. read more

I was not fully informed that my cost for the eye exam before proceeding to any services ...Including the intermediate and contact lens evaluation at the first case. The first associate said i only need to pay $10 copay. Later, while waiting for the doctor after finished the prescreening. The store associate not knowing the name told me they couldn't locate my insurance, and asked me if I want to pay out of pocket, without full disclosure of the cost, the doctor already rushed me in the office to conduct the exam. Finally, the store associate I believe is called Daniel in the receipt checked me out is rude, cold, robotic and not helpful at all, even i explained my concern, i cant believe i had to be forced to pay the fees without knowing the costs at the first place. As a customer, i feel vulnerable and helpless. I used to come here for my regular eye exam, but given my previous exam will expire in August, i really not need to pay this exam for such price and rude service.. read more

This review is for the retail store/glasses purchasing process. No issues with the eye exam itself (Jasmine was excellent). After my eye exam, I went to the main retail store to order glasses. A bit more expensive than ordering glasses online, but you pay for the service and fitting, right? I'm fine paying a bit more for glasses that look good and work as expected immediately. Long gone are the days of hour glasses, but that's fine. Ordered a reasonably expensive pair, told 10-14 days for the store to receive them. Okay, fine, longer than I'd like but it's okay. * 15 days after ordering - I call up the store. Glasses aren't in yet. They're at the lab ready to ship. Should be here in the next 3-5 business days, so early next week. * 20 days after ordering - Store calls me. Glasses not in yet. Will be in within the next 2 days. Sorry about the delay. * 22 days after ordering - I call store. Glasses not in yet. Still in lab. Should be shipping soon and here next week....???? * 25 days after ordering - Store calls me. Apparently the lab lost my glasses. If I want them I need to re-order and wait another 2 weeks. No option to expedite. I cancel the order and they refund (promptly, at least). I'm sympathetic to the sales associates because I'm assuming it's not their fault that the lab screwed up (that's on Luxottica). But there's no excuses for finding out almost a month after ordering that "my order was lost," and delaying everything further. I was okay paying extra money for the fitting and service, but if that's subpar, no reason to go to LensCrafters. I could actually order the exact same glasses/lenses for cheaper online (It's cheaper on the Luxottica-owned Eyebuydirect, and I assume it's even manufactured in the same place by the same people, then shipped directly to my house without going to the store), but instead the experience prompted me to avoid Luxottica entirely and order frames/lenses elsewhere. Can't see myself ordering glasses from LensCrafters or going with a Luxottica brand again. read more

This review is for the store location not Lens Crafters inc itself I've been LensCrafter customer for years. Been coming to this location because it's convenient n used to be quick. Always got trial contacts when purchasing contacts (doesn't matter if it's a box or a year supply, period) I was told by the employee that I can't get trials, only unless I buy a year supply. I understand they want to boost sales but this is not the way. I went to another Lens crafter location and they told me they ALWAYS give trial contacts with the purchase, and gave me trials. Will go to their location now on. (Embarcadero) ------------ Avoid market location. Unprofessional and rude stuff trying to rip you over $. Person, that was taking my order was spaced out complaining on making schedule for stuff and not paying any attention on customer. What a jerk read more

The staff was rude and the customer service is bad. I had to visit four times to pick up the glasses and the measurements were wrong.

I ordered glasses for over $300 and tried to call to check on them multiple times this morning. The number listed on both the receipt and the website gets to a "Press 2" to speak to a person and then a message that "this number did not answer". Very frustrating. read more

I went there on a Saturday for my eyeglasses adjustment and to get some contacts. The experience was kind of mixed, part of it worth a 5 star and part of it should be 1 star rated. The 5 star part: 1. I don't have a contacts prescription with them and they were able to schedule a same day appointment. 2. The store manager was very helpful too with the glasses adjustment part- he gave clear instructions to the store staff about where to adjust the glasses for and how. The 1 star part: 1. Although they helped me scheduled the appointment for later that day, when I arrived there, I waited for about 30 mins, while the checkup itself took only about 10 minutes. (Honestly until now I think it is still ok since it's a same day appmt ). 2. I felt pushed to buy more. I put in the contacts order over the phone later that day, and the store staff just TOLD me that they will put in a 1 year (365 pairs) order for me, without asking me how often I wear contacts. They changed the order to 90 contacts order after I told them to. They already knew that I used up my insurance quota for current year and the quota will renew next year ( next year in Jan. Or even earlier) and I need to pay out of pocket for this, and I do not need that much even if I wear contacts daily till this year end. on average it is a 3 star experience. read more
