I was very dissatisfied from my previous eyewear chain store, which will remain anonymous, because they sold me their "top of the line" progressive lenses but the peripheral was awful. They insisted that there is always some distortion. This "distortion" made driving difficult because I couldn't see cars on the side of me. So in I walk into Optical Arts and I am greeted by the loveliest ladies who were very friendly and helpful. I told them my concern and the gentleman who I presume was the optometrist or the owner interjected and explained to me the issue with the lenses. He took my glasses into the back to examine, came back out and said "yes, these are blank lenses and I bet you got them at blank store. These are their top of the line but the manufacturer's bottom of the line." Needless to say, I was completely surprised. He explained to me the difference between lenses and a lot of information I can't understand but I knew he knew what he was talking about. I requested their very top of line lenses because, at this point, I couldn't compromise my vision any further. He suggested I go a notch down since I really didn't need the most expensive, the one just below will be fine. I picked out a pair of Cartier frames and he measured my eyes to the lenses with both manual and computerized equipment to ensure that the lenses were perfect. And they were!! I have excellent peripheral vision and the measurements couldn't be any more precise. He made adjustments on the frame to ensure that the glasses sit correctly on my face. The attention to every detail was amazing. After wearing the glasses a couple of days, I realized that they were a bit tight behind the ears. I went back and he knew exactly where the discomfort was and adjusted them perfectly. Again, the attention given to my needs were Class A. I will certainly be going back to them in the future for all my eye needs.

In the words of my husbands, James is THE MAN!!…read more I (unfortunately) went to a different optometrist before I came here and didn't have a good experience. My glasses were giving me blurry vision and a headache. When I took them back not even a day later, the other place said "sorry no refunds" and we're unwilling to help. I took my original glasses that were broken (or so I thought) to Vision Gallery after seeing the great reviews online. We were greeted by James who has to be one of the friendliest people I have ever met. My eye exam was quick and efficient and I felt that the doctor here was much more qualified than the previous optometrist I saw in Brooklyn. She answered all my questions and I had confidence that she accurately diagnosed my prescription. I could finally see much more clearly. I thought I might need to get new frames but James was quick to tell me that he could fix them. I love my original glasses and have had them since college! All I needed to do was purchase new lenses and I was set. He also gave me a discount since I don't have vision insurance. The lenses that he recommended to me were more expensive than the other place I went to, but he explained the specifics of which lenses I should get based on my prescription and astigmatism. I feel confident that these lenses will last a long time. Coming to an establishment where the doctor is qualified and the rest of the staff are both knowledgeable and friendly is so rare nowadays. I will definitely be back for any future vision needs!

I was coming to this…read morebusiness for at least 8 years and I have had problems with the frames loosening my times. The gentleman who works here is very nice and tries to always be helpful but the owner has done me wrong and turned from a pleasant person to a rude lying snake . I had to call my insurance company for help because after making false promises she did a 360 and told me that I had to get all new lenses after I paid an extra 90 dollars 7 months before plus insurance co-pay and was promised new frames in the new year for free which was part of my insurance plan. I still had the same prescription but now she couldn't find any frames to fit my lenses. When I got the new lenses in July 2024 I wasn't covered for the frames. She told me to come back in January 2025 to get new frames so that they would pop out my lenses bought 7 months before into the new frames. By the way since I was not eligible for frames when I got the new lenses they used the old frames that I was wearing for 2 years already. When this was done I noticed a small line in the bottom of my old frames that they but the new lenses into till I could get new frames in 6 months as part of my insurance coverage. I pointed out the line in the old frames and was then told it was part of the design of the old frames. I believed it was the start of a tiny crack but was told DEFINITELY NOT. Ok I trusted this store and took their word that it was not a beginning of a crack. A few months went by and in the EXACT SAME SPOT OF THE LINE I HAD POINTED OUT PIECES OF THE FRAME STARTED TO BREAK OFF LITTLE BY LITTLE. I went back to the store and the owner said yes they were breaking off and I must have done something to cause it. She said that I should be VERY CAREFUL WITH MY GLASSES SINCE I WAS NOT ENTITLED TO GET MY NEW FRAMES FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. I left the store but before I did I mentioned that where the frames were breaking off was the exact spot I had pointed out a line in my frames after the new lenses were but into them. I was told NO! You damaged the frames and I had to wait for the new frames . I disagreed but it was fruitless to argue that they had started the crack when putting in the new lenses. She was adamant and told me to be very careful with my glasses since the old frames were still holding the lens in place. Ok I was upset but could not afford to pay for new frames because I was due new frames in a few months. I left and went about my business and the frames still held so I was just going to wait 2 more months until I was eligible for the new frames covered by insurance. January came and I happened to be ill so in the beginning of February I went back to the store but I was told that the owner was in vacation by the gentleman who always works there. He said she would be back in a week and in the meantime I should start picking out new frames that I wanted from the insurance companies collection and he made me an appointment for me to come back when she was back from vacation. I did this and also picked out frames that I liked. They were put away for me and I returned to the store on my appointment date. The owner came in and I asked her if she had a nice vacation and she Rudely informed me that SHE WAS NOT ON VACATION BUT ON A BUSINESS TRIP BUYING FOR THE STORE. I replied that I was only repeating what I was told. I had a new eye exam to make sure that my prescription was the same as 7 months ago and the doctor confirmed it. The owner looked at the frames that I had picked out and she said OH NO GOOD THE LENSES WOULD NOT FIT THE FRAMES. I went through all the frames that I was eligible for under my insurance and was told NO NO NO. None of them would fit my prescription. She then proceeded to go through the motions of looking in her stock for frames that would fit and came up with NOTHING AT ALL. I was told that I would have to buy new lenses again, at least another 90.00 plus dollars so that I could get new frames to fit. I thought that was RIDICULOUS AND WRONG SINCE 7-8 months back she SPECIFICALLY TOLD ME TO COME BACK AFTER THE NEW YEAR TO PICK NEW FRAMES FOR THEM TO USE FOR MY LENSES. I was SPECIFICALLY TOLD THAT I WOULD JUST HAVE TO COME BACK AND EASY PEASY HAVE THE LENSES BUT INTO A PAIR OF FRAMES I WOULD PICK OUT. OH HOW THE STORY NOW CHANGED!!!! She told me that nothing she had would fit any of the frames in the store and I had to buy all new lenses even though I had the exact same prescription in order to fit into new frames. I am disabled and on a fixed income and spending the extra $90.00 plus dollars in July was a problem but I was told I needed prisms and that was an extra cost so I had to get them and pay the extra $. It all seemed so easy in July to just come back in 2025 and pick new frames out which was totally covered by my insurance. BOY HAD THE STORY NOW CHANGED AND I HAD TO PAY FOR NEW LENSES IN ORDER TO GET MY FRAMES.

The café appears to have a very small food selection as well but I didn't order from it so don't take my word for it. The space doubles as a design gallery, with art pieces, home decor, etc. for sale. The emphasis on design is apparent before you even step inside. An old-time pushcart propping up a "Welcome" sign catches your eye from the street so you know you're in the right place, which was helpful because the shop is a bit off the beaten path (although not at all hard to find if armed with the address). The site seems to have been chosen specifically for its industrial feel, but there is no trace of coldness from what used to be a factory (and before that, about 100 years ago, a horse stable) The space has a kind of country farmhouse feel to it, with decorative scarves hanging from the brick walls and sponge-painted planks of wood decorating the front-of-house coffee bar. I talked to the manager (Fumio Tashiro, a very hospitable man), who said the café will change ownership in July, and an entirely new drink menu will be rolled out. He mentioned he will still be here, and I plan to come back then and make sure things haven't changed too much, as I really like it the way it is now!
