I have been a loyal customer of Anne and Valentin for many years. After wearing my new sunglasses I…read moredeveloped a peeling and oozing irritation on my bridge of my nose and back of the ear. It required a dermatologist appointment, prescription ointment, and several weeks to heal. I determined the cause of the irritation by placing the frame on my forearm. After a few hours, there appeared a swollen, red, and itchy outline of the frame. When contacting Anne and Valentin about the incident, their response was to tell me their return policy and say they could not replace the lenses because they were from another vendor. So much for good customer relations. Maybe it's a French thing.

I had to go back twice to get them redone because they failed to listen to my instructions the first time. Specifically, I asked for high index (and paid for it) and when I picked them up it was not applied. Secondly, when the frames came back they had some sort of heat/melting damage from possibly re inserting the lenses. There was also a problem with the prescription itself where I could not even see properly out of the lenses. They have a problem with their lab or something but I can't recommend them until they fix whoever does their lenses. On the bright side, I get a lot of compliments on my glasses, which I customized, its too bad they don't have a higher quality lab.

I was told after I paid for my glasses that they would be ready in one and a half weeks. Okay, great. One and a half weeks goes by. I call them to asknif my glasses are ready. The woman who answers asks "what is your tray number?". I assume it's a number on my receipt, but I did not have it handy. I ask her if she can look it up by my phone number or last name. Her answer? "NO". How is this even a thing in this day and age that they have no record of my glasses other than on a flimsy piece of paper? Okay, so I hang up, did around in my purse, find the receipt and call back. I give the person my tray number and then I am told "no its two and a half weeks for your glasses". Wth? Why so long??? Anyway, I wander around blindly for another week. I arrive at the location. I get my glasses. I put them on. Now, this was a totally new script for me. So when I put them on, everything did seem a bit blurry. Now this is where my major complaint is derived from. I say to the woman "these seem a little blurry" Her response? None. She just kind of looked away in another direction as if she had no intention of providing any further assistance and couldn't be bothered. I took my glasses and left. Will not go back.

This went on for a few months until I chanced upon MF in the Time Warner Bldg. I fell in love with a gorgeous pair of sunglasses - their Excaliburs (aviator-esque) and the rest is history. Over the next few months, I forgot all about Solstice and kept visiting my beloved pair of glasses at MF, wishing I could afford the nearly $500 price tag. I went there so often that the sales people would recognize me as "that girl" but they were always very very nice. One day I decided to (wo)man up and buy my Excaliburs. Worth every freaking penny. $500 is a small price to pay for sunglasses that make me look and feel like a million dollars. Heads turn, compliments left and right. It's ruined all other sunglasses for me, nothing else makes me look as good. It's also satisfied my previous need to own everything at Solstice so the $500 I paid ended up saving me all the $$$$$$ I would've spent at Solstice/Sunglass Hut. Other Notables - The quality of their glasses is great, some of them are flashy, some of them are more subdued. Either case, they're clearly unique. Their styles are a little more distinct and memorable.(read: you'll never find bootleg versions being sold on the street for $10/pair).
