This is the best optician business I know. The owner gave me ideal attention, fitting my small head with the ideal, very funky glasses. There are so many outstanding, cool choices that it was difficult to narrow down. Customer service is outstanding and Loft is my first choice going forward for lenses. I've bought several pairs of eyeglasses here and am never disappointed. The selection is fabulous; in other stores I've often struggled to find one pair that I like and that looks good on me, but here the challenge is to choose among the many pairs I love. My prescription is not a simple one, but they always get it right. The staff are terrific and go above and beyond--making sure I knew I qualified for a post-cataract-surgery Medicare rebate and even filling out all the paperwork. I stopped in the see if they could check out my glasses. They were severely bent on the plastic part before the hinge, so I was skeptical that they would be able to be fixed. Not only were they able to fix but they didnt charge me for the repair!! Highly recommend! read more

Don't believe those planted five star ratings. This place is and has always been a rip-off. They clearly haven't changed, as they just charged me $8.00 for 2 of those tiny silicone bridge pads that cost $1.50 everywhere else (no wonder people have resorted to showrooming). When I told them I would install them myself, the large woman gave me attitude, which is probably why she gouged me. I should have walked out when she told me how much they cost. If I had let them install them as she suggested (simple as pushing a button), she probably would've charged me $20.00. read more

They have not only made my glasses perfect, but also my prescription. After two failed attempts to have my prescription changed by my doctor, which resulted in glasses that made me feel dizzy, uncomfortable and simply made wearing them impossible, Loft helped by actually checking what for what felt comfortable, not just what my vision was. I first encountered Loft when I began working at a school in the neighborhood. I have an obsession with frames so their selection was a complete surprise; they have classic styles as well as artsy, funky, modern, & sleek styles and everything in between. Robert and the Loft opticians team are the place to be. I randomly stopped by knowing little information but was in desperate need of an eyeglass repair that's been nagging me for months. The place is clean, cozy, with a varied selection of glasses-something for everyone. Robert was knowledgeable, kind and friendly even though my original purchase of glasses in question was not bought at his store he happily identified the issue and assisted me with a temporary solution. Robert going above and beyond to help made this five star customer service experience memorable. I am grateful for his assistance and guidance especially because he didn't ask me for a penny. NYC is such an expensive place I don't appreciate getting ripped off and charged just to ask a question. If I ever need anything I will be visiting Loft opticians again. I was sent to Loft Opticians in 1987, from my eye doctor. Nancy and Sol helped me out then, and at least every other year since. I went to visit last Wednesday after getting a new prescription and dropped of 4 pairs of glasses (all from them in previous purchases) to get the lenses updated. Nancy said they would be ready the next day. I went in Thursday morning to get a pair because I had decided to listen to her advice and change the 5th pair as well. So I went on my merry way and was told to come back later. I came back around 4 pm to all 4 pairs being done, fitted to my face, and perfect. Then I tried on some glasses, because I love to do that, and ended up ordering a pair of sunglasses. I was told that I could get them Saturday, but as I was going to be upstate, and leaving early on Monday, they offered to drop them off at my parents house. I have seen some famous people in there, some pets, and It never fails that I come out with a smile. And unfortunately a large handful of tootsie rolls, which I swear Sol places there to torment me! They know everyone by name, are super at service, and are not afraid to tell you what they think about how a pair looks on you! Refreshing! Now if only they would serve self control to go with the candy that is always there! Some people will say it is expensive, and it is on the pricier side, but they send glasses overnight anywhere in the country (they have done it for me about 8 times!) and send replacement parts if you need them. I have tried other opticians, and will always return to Loft as the customer service really can not be beat! Thank you all! read more

First off, the customer service at this place is out of this world. Nancy was able to pick me out a frame I absolutely love and was able to call and get the prescription I had on file out of state and have them ready for me by within two days. She was incredibly patient while I went through almost every pair of sunglasses they had in the store and when I couldn't make up my mind between two pairs she went so far as to let me take them both home so I could decide. Unbelievably wonderful service and about as good as it gets. Every business that's been around for a while will have its admirers and haters. In my case, I'm a big fan of the guys at Loft. In my 3 years of dealing with them, they have bent over backwards to provide helpful information that didn't turn a dime for them by recommending an excellent opthamologist, they gave me excellent service and advice in clarifying the reasons behind one lens type vs another and, finally, when after using my new lens for a while I had an additional question or two, they offered to have them replaced at no additional charge. I think these guys provide an outstanding, high-quality service that is as trustworthy and reliable as anything from anyone I've worked with in NYC. read more

I love this place. Granted it's small, but the selection for both regular glasses and sunglasses is excellent. My fiancee and I have been here a number of times. The owner or the lady in the store when I went seemed nice enough. Until it came down to price. I was in bad need of a pair of frames and she ended up charging me over double for them! She took someone who could barely see and decided to gouge them out of their money. Great way to run a business. Quality service!!!!! I was recommended to Loft from the owners daughter. I had struggled for years when it came to driving at night. The lights would just be blinding from on coming traffic as well as from the street lights reflection, during driving. Seriously...I am in love with this place. On a whim after a dermatology appointment stumbled into Loft on my way to the subway. I have been wanting a new pair of glasses for months and have looked around but not really seen anything that grabbed me. I love supporting local businesses and this place was great. I was NOT planning to buy anything but they had such a wonderful eclectic selection ( like glasses with a little edge, not like everyone else's) and found a pair that was fabulous, how could I not buy them! And, when they said they could take my prescription from my current eye glasses and contact my insurance....done! Great service. Nancy is who I worked with and I felt she was truly honest in her guidance towards the right frames for me. They had them ready the same day! Who does that!? I am used to waiting a week. I picked them up 24 hours later (today) and am thrilled, I was fitted and reaffirmed that THIS will be my go-to place for future eyewear. I stumbled upon Loft while taking the bus down Lexington Ave. I had already visited most stores on the UES and was quite annoyed by the pushy behavior of many of the employees. I was concerned that the same may happen when I first entered Loft, however I was PLEASANTLY surprised to be greeted in a kind, non-aggressive manner. I found them to have a very nice, updated,selection with styles that were modern and functional, and they were reasonably priced. I just got my first pair of new glasses in 15 years & the folks at Loft could not have been more helpful. I had a prescription for progressive lenses, but they didn't work well for me. Great find. Tiny store but has large selection with something to fit every taste and decent price range. Fastest service in town, as they don't outsource. Pleasant, helpful staff. In addition to making up new glasses for you, they will change lenses in other pairs even if your frames were purchased elsewhere.
