    The pork bone soup was delicious. I love soup with rice! It was a really warm day in SF, not exactly a good day for hot soup, but I still really enjoyed it! The kimchi pancake was on the thin side, crispy and pretty spicy! It wasn't the best jeon I've ever had but I liked the texture. The bossam was good too! Pork belly was tender. It was a great dinner - satisfying but not too heavy. The wait staff was friendly and kept my water cup filled. The restaurant, although not in the best neighborhood, is quite nice inside! The tables are spaced out so that you don't feel too crowded. I'd love to come back again!

    The pork bone soup was flavorful and the meat was tender, but the bossam tasted tough and chewy. Kind of disappointing because this seems to be their most popular dish. I would only get the soup again and skip the bossam.

    Sungho is SO good. Fully exceeded expectations. We got a few things and every single one hit. The kimchi pancake with pork was crispy, savory, and actually had real kimchi flavor instead of just being oily. The bossam was insane. The pork belly was sooo tender, clean, and just really well done. Every meat we had was ridiculously tender. The beef short rib soup was also so good. Super comforting, rich but still clean. Apparently they do these long-simmered broths and you can really taste it. This is the kind of bowl that makes you pause for a second. The spicy jokbal fried rice was the standout for me. It actually has real heat, so just know that going in. But the flavor is ridiculous. Now I'm already planning to come back and try the jokbal itself. The menu is pretty focused and everything feels really intentional. Space is simple and cozy, nothing fancy which fits the food. Portions are solid and great for sharing. Such a satisfying meal. Def coming back.

    When I'm in the thick of the Tenderloin, I'm usually trying to find the best way to get out. However, I had been curious about this spot and found an excuse to come here when I was serving on a jury at the Superior Court nearby. Since it was still light out, I figured I'd walk over after the day's deliberations and arrive at 5PM when they opened. Good idea except I was too early and ended up sprinting around the block three times to avoid being conspicuous. When I finally was able to enter, I secured a seat at the counter despite not having a reservation. The menu was sparse - just nine items - and each was described in savory detail (Photo 6). Based on the reviews I read and my own dietetic predilections, I went for their signature dish, the $26 Pork Bone Soup. It came with a hearty bowl of hot white rice (Photo 7) and a bit of banchan, including kimchi, pickled daikon, marinated onion and sliced jalapeños (Photo 8). The soup came in a traditional earthenware pot to retain the heat of the milky broth, which had been simmering in pork bones for at least 24 hours. The tender pork itself was sliced razor-thin and mixed with spices and chopped green onion (Photo 10). A side of fresh chile paste was presented on the side and deepened the flavor of the rich broth. The net result was Korean comfort food done with culinary flair but staying true to its homestyle roots.     Don't judge a book by it's cover! Been meaning to come visit this restaurant for quite some time. I have to be honest, it's not in the best of neighborhoods, the Tenderloin! No parking. Lots of people hanging around outside that may deter you from coming. But, if you are brave enough, you will be rewarded to a very chic, modern Korean restaurant that makes some of the best Korean soups in SF! Perfect for the cold SF nights but also warm soup for the soul. Spicy bone soup-a little too spicy for myself and friends. They need to lower the spice and heat just a notch or two. Regular bone soup- It made me feel like I was having it made by some grandma in the back boiling it with love. Bossam- juicy pork slices that you mix with some gojujang sauce, garlic in lettuce. Tasty! I told the owner about how I've been wanting to come and my hesitations. I say catch a uber or lyft ride there, step in the door, and you will be rewarded and glad that you came!

    Discovered this place after craving spicy marinated crabs. Made a reservation and left happy. I keep coming back mostly for the bossam and their beef short rib soup. It's always comforting and light and after eating I don't feel like I overate. Their service is amazing and they always check up on you to ask about the food and come around for water refills. There is also of course banchan which goes well with the bossam, however I will say their kimchi is a bit overfermented but if you like that more acidic taste then you will enjoy it all the more. I find that this is a nice spot to come with others or a friend their lights during the evening are lowered and it creates a very nice atmosphere. I will continue to come back here and glad I discovered this spot and definitely recommend.

    I was blown away by this hole-in-the-wall Tenderloin restaurant that transports you into a Korean grandmother's kitchen. This isn't the Korean food you're used to - lots of meats, barbecue, etc.). This is home cooking at it's comfort-for-the-soul finest, with one clear standout on the menu - a divine bone broth simmered for 24 hours and paired with tender pork. Also impressive was the bosam, pork belly with a delicious home made sauce that you'd wrap in accompanying lettuce. The house-made kimchi was also impressive. And the price is pretty fair. Two of us ate for about $100, which is a great and hearty meal in the city, especially at this quality.

    Sungho is a Korean comfort food restaurant located in the Tenderloin neighborhood so a little difficult to find parking. Suggest taking public transportation or uber if you want to come here. This is not your traditional Korean BBQ restaurant. It focuses on Bone Soup, Jokbal, marinated crab, and bossam. Jokbal is a korean soy braised pork trotter and Bossam is slow boiled pork belly. These dishes are often accompanied with lettuce wraps and some soybean paste where you can make your lettuce wrap with your favorite protein. While we didn't try the Jokbal today, I've had these in Korea and they are quite tasty and has a gelatinous texture. Today, we shared the Beef Bone Soup and Bossam. The Beef Bone Soup came out piping hot with two big short ribs. The soup was flavorful and I didn't need to add any salt. Some of the other Beef Bone Soup I've tried recommended you add salt to your liking. The short rib was very tender but still retained a bite to it. The Bossam was equally tender and was not heavily seasoned by itself but when wrapped with the lettuce, soybean paste, and other accompaniments tasted great. The portion size was very good, enough for two people to share. The menu is somewhat limited though in my opinion. Wish there were more options to choose from. The other popular dish here is the korean pancake.

    The atmosphere here was it was a nice tiny restaurant with limited seating. Make sure to get reservations as it gets packed. We got the spicy raw marinated crab, kimchi pancake and pork bone soup. Raw marinated crab: (4/5) Nice fresh taste with decent amount of meat inside. The flavor was tasty but wish there was more of a garlic-y flavor and it was almost a bit too spicy to be enjoyable coming from a spice lover Kimchi Pancake: (...) Thought the kimchi flavor was a little lacking. It was very crispy as the other reviews said but I thought it was almost too crispy to the point where it kinda felt burnt tasting. In my opinion I think you can pass on this Pork Bone Soup: (5/5) This was my personal favorite. I liked how they didn't skip out on the meat in the soup. I read how they boil the soup for over 24 hours the flavor of the broth was so rich flavorful. Perfect for the rainy cold weather Server was nice but seemed like was managing too many tables I had to refill my own water regardless he was nice just shows it gets busy here

    Took my wife here for valentines dinner and the food was absolutely delicious! We got the spicy pork bone soup, pork belly lettuce wrap, and kimchi pancake. It was a lot of food for 2. Their menu is small but every item is so well made. Didn't feel like we could have went wrong with any order. Parking is bad on this street as it is pretty close to city hall/bill graham. We had to walk through some pretty bad streets. Saw someone pull out a screwdriver to break open a fenced gate to get out of the rain. Recommend getting there early for parking.

    Overall, delicious restaurant! The pork bone soup contained soft pork belly and seasoned with green onion along with black pepper. It was very comforting. The kimchi pancake was the thinnest and crispiest ones I've had. I couldn't quite taste the pork as much, but I loved the texture. The bossam assembly was tasty with the tender pork belly and crunchy kimchi. The atmosphere was elegant with wooden furnitures. Staff was also friendly.

    This might be the most authentic Korean spot in the city! Beef short rib soup was so comforting on a cold day and balanced out the rest of the meal well. I absolutely devoured the bossam - had just the perfect amount of fattiness. Kimchi pancake was ultra thin and crispy, not to mention actually spicy, which was a nice surprise. Everything was washed down with a fruity and refreshing peach makgeolli. Sat at the bar and didn't feel cramped at all. Just wish this place was located a couple blocks or more north so i could feel safe walking here all the time!

    Sungho provides Korean comfort food that is great for cold SF nights. Although located in the Tenderloin, Sungho is actually quite modern and chic. Also accompanied with an upbeat Kpop soundtrack, stepping inside transports you somewhere else completely. For a Saturday night, we were able to walk in around opening for table seating, but it did seem like reservations are highly recommended. The menu itself is also quite limited which is great because it is not too overwhelming like in some restaurants. Here is what we ordered: Beef short rib soup (4.5/5): Warm broth with strong peppery notes to give it that extra punch. The meat was tender and decent sized. Bossam (4/5): A slightly different take on traditional bossam which are pork wraps. It is a thinner cut of pork and with subtle herby flavor that had a bit of a nutty flavor. The accompaniments were good but the lettuce was cut so small that it was not as ideal to hold everything in the wrap. The service was good with staff coming by to check on us regularly. There is limited street parking nearby but may be best to Uber/Lyft if coming by for dinner. Overall, Sungho provides great Korean soul food that is worth a visit.

If you just love buttery soft tender meat, go for it. However if you like jowl because you like the chew/bounce on every bite, you might be disappointed because this meat is super soft! The marinated meats were pretty good as was the tteokbokki. Side & meat portions were alright, but the kicker is having to flag down staff to make sure they put in the order & bring it out. We asked for japchae about 5 times before it actually reached our table towards the end of our meal. The server/manager also told us that he had accidentally brought out 2 bottles of soju for us and that he'd COMP 1 bottle. We didnt notice that he had actually charged us for 2 and comped/subtracted a "third" one. So none were really comped at all. I just realized after we paid and that felt really sketchy. Idk if it's worth coming back here.
