Great service! The chicken and shells soup was so delicious that I wish I had ordered some for dinner. You must try their Broasted Chicken. It was perfectly prepared. Light and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Normally broasted chicken are salty because they brine the chicken, but Sunfield's was perfectly seasoned. First of all I would give NO STARS! Horrible customer service.. including Owner. The waitress seemed high on I don't know what.. and didn't get my order right. I ordered the Coast Salad and got a totally different salad. The salad she brought me did NOT have blue cheese as it said in the menu. It had eggs, and cucumbers, which was NOT Part of the salad that I wanted. After bringing that to her attention, she told me that she noticed it as soon as the owner gave her my salad after making it, but didn't bother to let me know, or ask me if I would like to order something else since it wasn't what I wanted. Again not thinking of customers needs. That's what a real waitress would do. The waitress insisted that it was the salad I ordered, not even giving me the chance to talk. Like I said, she was very rude and Obnoxious. She said that the owner made it himself, which looks bad if he doesn't even know his own restaurants menu. It's a joke. I will NEVER eat here again. The owner STILL CHARGED me for the salad that I didn't order,Even after I requested it to be taken off. Just a heads up, I'd recommend ANYWHERE but this disgraceful place. Service had become very disappointing here. The food is decent; nothing out of this world, but edible and the menu has something for everyone. That being said, the area has plenty of family style restaurants, and Sunfields lacks the enthusiasm to gain a return visit. On 3/24, I stopped in with the kids and my mom. We had no silverware after multiple requests. The waitress brought out 3 of our 4 meals without any explanation, then walked away. About 5 minutes later, she arrived with my mom's "jumbo" shrimp. The shrimp was more popcorn size. My mom was missing her vegetables and her potato. When she asked, the waitress said "we are out of potatoes. What do you want?". Horrible attitude, and ridiculous service. We made the mistake of returning 4/9. Same problem- no silverware. We asked 4 times. I ordered a meal that came with vegetables, but received none. The waitress didn't offer drink refills, and she never brought us a check. We had to go up front to ask for it. In the past my family and I have always enjoyed this restaurant. However, yesterday I went to have lunch with my friend, and though the food was good, the service was less than stellar. I didn't bother to get the waitress' name, but from the moment we were seated it was awful. It took a good amount of time for her to take our order, and when she did, she got the drinks wrong. Normally that wouldn't be a big issue, but when she even specifically verified the regular coke and still brought the diet anyway, I wasn't too happy. I chose not to ask for the correct drink, as her attitude was clearly not good. When we had to ask for straws for our drinks, she rolled her eyes and tossed them on the table. My friend has certain dietary restrictions because of allergies and other medical reasons, so though her order, in my opinion, was not that difficult, it became an issue with the waitress, who had an attitude the entire time. When the food arrived, it was not what she had asked for, and the waitress began to argue about that with my friend. She was clearly fed up and didn't want to deal with it any longer, so she slammed her hands down on the table and said attempted to resolve it by offering to pay for the item herself, then proceeded to go to get the cooks to make the side dish that my friend had asked for, but not without badmouthing the order loud enough for us to hear. Offering to pay for the item herself would be noble under most circumstances, but in this case, it was clear she was doing it spitefully and with a crappy attitude to match. My friend was not looking for a free side dish. All she wanted was what she had asked for to begin with without the sarcastic and condescending attitude. I have been to many restaurants and experienced both good and bad service, but this takes the cake for worst service by far. Needless to say we will not be returning. read more

I enjoyed my time at this restaurant when we went for my moms birthday. The food was just meh but the service we experienced was phenomenal! We were treated very well when we went here for dinner. The only reason this was rated a 3 star is because they didn't have some items that I wanted and the food didn't have the best taste. But other than that we were treated very well! As for the sunfield, I will admit I did not like it at all in their old location buy now that they have built their own building off of 34 in front of marketplace I enjoy it. I drive through Yorkville, IL every couple of weeks or so, and occasionally have the need and time to stop for dinner. The problem is that Yorkville is a bit of a culinary wasteland. On a recent trip through Yorkville we stopped for dinner at Sunfield's. My expectations were not high, as this place is essentially the same as every other "family" restaurant of this kind. Well, they exceeded my expectations. For its type of restaurant, Sunfield's is quite good. I ordered the "broasted" chicken since I haven't had "broasted" anything in quite a while and I'm a bit of a sucker for chicken prepared that way. The salads were fresh and crisp although the dressings were from a big tub. Not unexpected. The chicken was perfect. Ultra crispy outside and juicy, tender inside. I really was beside myself at how good it was. The fries provided with the chicken were more like steak fries and were good. Service was about as expected at that time of day. Overall, a solid "big menu" family restaurant. I'm sure we'll be back next time we're heading through town. read more

Tenderloin- Meat loaf- Pre-made, frozen everything- tenderloin, meatloaf, cottage fries (potato cubes) vegetables, gravy, everything but the soup, which seemed fresh (maybe not- clam chowder- nah, probably not). I totally recommend them for breakfast; I totally don't recommend them for dinner. Fair warning that the median age is 75 pretty much no matter when I have been there. Ordered a grilled cheese and onion rings for lunch. The "grilled" cheese had one piece of American cheese on it and it wasn't even melted. The bread was a little brown in the middle. The onion rings were tasteless. More breading than onion and there was a burnt French fry in with them. So I know they use the same oil to fry the onion rings and French fries in. I didn't want to cause a scene so I asked for a box and told the waitress I had changed my mind and wanted to go to Crusade Burger Bar. The waitress was nice. Last night my family and I decided that we were going to try Sunfeilds again after going before and having a bad experience with the waiters being rude and unkind to my family. The first time we had gone to Sunfeilds I had ordered the popcorn shrimp, after not being able to find ANYTHING on the menu. Only to get the large fried shrimp. Thinking that maybe it was just a mistake, I decided to take a second chance. After having my food arrive 15 minutes after everyone elses I was once again dissatisfied with my order. Little did I know that I wasn't the only disappointed person at my table, my cousin however had ordered honey mustard for her fries. Arriving 10 minutes after the food had been brought out, my cousin realized that her food tasted odd. She tasted each food alone, and realized that it was the sauce. The sauce tasted like a person had squeezed an orange into the sauce. Trying once again a second time she ordered barbecue sauce, which tasted like APPLES. I am sorry to say I had an awful experience on my second trial, and that there will NOT be a third. read more

When I read the 3.5 stars I was hesitant, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and service was quick.

These people are amazing!! Our server was very friendly and so was all of the staff. I had the Meat Lovers skillet, it was cooked perfectly and the little potato pieces at the bottom really made the flavor pop! Not to mention that the potatoes were perfectly crispy, and the combination of meat was also very well complimented. The eggs were also perfectly cooked to order. Long before our town was populated this was one of the few places in town to eat. Although the new location was a bit of the upgrade nothing has really changed. The waitresses are hit and miss on personality. You can have a good visit with a happy waitress or you can have a visit with a grumpy waitress or on this visit we were in the cross fire between the waitress and the owners. This has always been a "down home" place and there are many times when you become part of the family, attitude and all, and are forgotten as the customer. The owners and managers are typically cold fish and have no problems yelling or fighting with their staff in front of customers. Quite the poor display to my friend who was a first time and most likely last time visitor. Breakfast and the rare lunch are as far as I go. The food is a below average fare and I would NEVER eat dinner here. I would recommend eating breakfast here over Belle's, however. read more

My family loves this place! A great little dinner in Yorkville in the front corner of the Jewel, large portions of food at a cheap price. The menus (there are two) are huge, which means you can always find something that'll hit the spot. Our son orders the breakfast steak skillet every single time, my husband usually order the gyro platter or sandwich with fries. The soups are delicious, my favorite is the chicken dumpling. Food is always good, wait staff always friendly - don't know who said it was hit and miss - we have never had an issue with their friendliness. Since we moved out this way we've been coming here on and off. I came a lot when I was pregnant because I just didnt feel like cooking. We always go for breakfast. The food is always consistent, and the fresh squeezed OJ is awesome. I just wouldnt expect much for service, the waitress's are fast to walk off, abrupt, and somewhat clumsy. They don't really great you at the door when you walk in either, we're usually standing around waiting for a couple of minutes. And then checking out we often stand around waiting also. So dont expect much for service, but the breakfast is always good. Not as greasy as Denny's or iHop. read more
