Just moved to the area and based on reviews I knew that I had to try them out. Not disappointed at all. This is a neighborhood bar, which is in an old bank building , with outstanding food and great service. I had their fried chicken for cheap chicken night and it was delicious. Crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. Coleslaw and fries were good and they came with the meal. I've tried the Niki chicki and it was amazing!! A chicken breast on top of cheesy rice, with mushrooms, peppers and onions. It was to die for!! My dinner came with salad bar or soup. I had the soup of the day which was a chicken and rice and it was good. I will definitely be frequenting them for drinks and dinner.

We ordered the ribeye steak sandwich on garlic bread. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had!

The poached pears were exquisite. The fresh spinach and thin-sliced pears were the perfect bed (better than arugula would have been) and the crans, feta and crushed nuts were great for balance and texture. But let's talk about that chicken's agave marinade. It was zesty with a slight acidic citrus to balance the sweetness from the pear. The whole deal was delicious. And with the maple-dijon vinaigrette to top it off - well, that topped it off! My buddy got a Hippie Chic sandwich and he liked it very much too. I don't usually write reviews on first visits and certainly never before for a salad but the Vault is a gem that should be on full display, not locked away!

There were two waitresses in our area and it was clear ours was not as serious about their job as the other. We waited long enough after being seated to start to wonder id we had been forgotten. Two other tables (seated after us by the other waitress) had been seated and got drinks before our someone came to our table. When I did get my water it had plastic wrap in it. The other waitress took it from us to get a new one. No sorry, nothing. Acted like nothing happened. Our waitress delivered the new one 10 solid minutes later. It was Not super busy at this time. Why so long? And again no acknowledgement of the plastic.. couldnt get myself to drink anything else with worry of contamination of the ice box. Order the california chicken sandwich and brussel sprouts. My mother had the smash burger. She seemed to enjoy it though both sandwiches were stacked super tall and mine had two huge thick red o ions on it. A bit overpowering but mine was good after that was removed. Brussel sprouts were significantly salty. Wasnt able to get through them. My mom got the fries and tho were standard. She also got a bloody mary. It was alright she seemed to enjoy it. Waitress was a little sarcastic with us for no reason and the plastic and just overall service was unfortunate. It was enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth and I dont plan to return.

Rice flour so they are light with a perfect crisp. The salads are AWESOME, their chipotle ranch is next level, and the blackened chicken is outstanding! If you're traveling through sandwich - this is a great choice! The only negative is the parking. There's not really anywhere to park. We've lucked out and the one spot in front of has been open a few times we went, you might have to park across the street. Just a right corner - but worth the walk.

The trolley car is what people like about it. A cool place to eat. Especially if one likes trains. A lot of great specials to get. It's $3.50 wells on Wednesdays. A lot of meaty things to get. It's about $12 for the Build Your Own Burger option. We got it with the Beyond Burger patty. Comes with a choice of side and we got the kettle chips. This was a pretty big ass meal and we got stuffed. For sure it's the most famous restaurant in town but there's not a whole lot great around here. It's located at Main and Church Street. The menu is meaty but the Beyond Burger is the option for vegetarians.

Tin Roof is one of those unassuming places that most people just pass up. For sure it's not fancy. You might be able to catch live music. Cheap and rustic is an accurate way to talk about this bar. It's located outside a small town on the way to Starved Rock. The inside is bigger than it looks and apparently is a great place to listen to local bands or whoever. However most come to get boozed up and complain. It's about $5 for a basic mixer. Whiskey and whatever. Food is also pretty basic. Mostly fried things. It's about $5 to get a basket of Pretzel Bites. These are great to munch on between sips. Food menu is pretty uninteresting to be honest. There's also other fried things like jalapeño poppers and mini tacos. Got a few cheap cocktails and okay munchies out of it. It's located on Route 34 a bit west of Somonauk. The food here actually is shitty but whatever.
