Upon arrival, I thought this place was closed because the lot was barren and there was a door with a chain & lock on it. Turns out, they were opened the whole time, just had to go up the steps. The bartender recommended me the Hammered Chicken Basket. I really liked the special sauce, but have a tendency to dip my chicken and fries into ketchup. Also ordered a pink drink (alcoholic) that was very refreshing. It was a mix of sprite and some alcohol drink. This restaurant is conveniently across the street from my hotel.

OMG - GOOD BARBEQUE!…read more We were hunting for a place for lunch in Dixon, and my wife suggested this place. Good suggestion. I ordered their Pit Smoked Pork Sandwich, with the optional more expensive Truffle Fries. Let me start with the sandwich - oh, was it soooo good. Hot, tender, and the BBQ sauce was outstanding! The Truffle Fries were nothing to trifle about (excuse the pun). They were well-seasoned, tasted great, and were nice, hot and fresh. My wife had their Texas Cheesesteak Sandwich, again with the Truffle Fries. She really enjoyed her sandwich - she said it was very tasty. We went with non-alcoholic drinks since I had to go back to work. The Root Beer was good, and she really liked here iced tea. While we were there, I grabbed a piece of their cheesecake, which wasn't as good as their Pit Smoked Pork Sandwich, but hit the spot. Service was attentive and helpful. I liked the decor in the place - just enough to catch your eyes, not enough to get lost in the background. Two large screen TVs over the bar show different events (in this case, golf and something else) and the bar back looked clean. The rest rooms (at least the men's room) was very clean, smelled clean, and worked properly. This can be a problem in bars, they clearly have the right standards.

The menu showed 4 tacos, the menu said you get 3 and what I got were two slightly stale shells wrapped in tin foil with my entree. The service was good, but In my opinion the food was just average. I guess technically it's mostly a bar, in which case it's probably better than most. The atmosphere is casual, but for what we paid ($108 for 4 people and 1 appetizer) seems like a lot for what it is.

Generous portion of snapper on a nice bun with red slaw and small basket of fries. I had the fish and chips. Three pieces of haddock nicely battered with kale slaw and a dill tartar sauce. Small basket of fries kept me occupied. Service was great. I'd live to return when the place is packed and the dance floor full. Really looked like a fun place. Highly recommend without any reservations. Can't miss. The place is too cool to pass up.

I'm back. I haven't left a review in a long time. I just got lazy and tired. But since we are…read moretourists I will review this place I've become to notice Irish pubs seem dark. It's hard to see if the place is clean but I can say the bathrooms were and I didn't notice anything that was dirty. We got seated within a minute. Place was not very crowded being a Sunday night. The hostess greeted us with a smile and felt with our difficulty to choose where to sit. She chose for us because we were just indecisive. A plus, they had a musician playing singing some Irish songs and he had a good voice. I can see this place being loud if it's packed but for the 20 people there, it was not. The restaurant itself was a little warm but whatever, no big deal to me. The most important part of the restaurant is obviously the food. I ordered a Rueben which I know is a basic meal to get but I wanted corned beef but didn't want to pay the corn beef prices. I will admit this was one of the best Rueben's I've ever had. The flavors were awesome, the meat was tender which isn't always easy with corned beef. The fries I thought were pretty damn good. They aren't my usual typical fries I like but they were seasoned well and nice and crispy. The wife got another basic item of the fish and chips. Again, the fish was amazing, the tartar sauce, which I usually do not like, was good. I thought it was some of the best fish I've had in a while and the tartar sauce was definitely homemade. The alcohol, well can't go wrong with any of the beers I chose or my wife chose. I also got a black and tan which I haven't had in about 20 years and it's just like I remember in college with the exception of drinking 4 of them. So why would I give this place 4 states instead of 5? Unfortunately, the waiter was not very good. He was not very personable, didn't seem to smile, didn't seem like he really wanted to be there. I know most of us don't want to be at work, but in this industry, you gotta fake it. I will recommend this place and if we are ever in town again, I'd like to try some of the other food. The atmosphere was a good time, and the decor, especially the Irish flag was good enough for me. I would go there if you're in the area.

But I forgot to take pictures so I couldn't do a proper review. The next time I went, was to order takeout. I walked in with my 2 very small Yorkie girls Khloe'and Paisley who were in an enclosed dog stroller. I immediately said to the people at the bar (it was around 5pm) "Don't worry it's not a baby, it's just my dogs". One guy said that he didn't care. I went around to the left side of the bar near the bathrooms and Heather said to me "You can't be in here with them, you're going to have to leave them outside". I said "They're my emotional support animals and I'm allowed to take them wherever I go. I have a letter from my psychologist. She didn't want to see it. I said that I just wanted to order some food to go. She came over with her pad and pen. I said "Can I see a menu?" I was literally dumbfounded. I moved to this teeny tiny town (3,000) from my previous town of 70,000 people. There are no fast food restaurants, no Walmart or Target, one local grocery store. It's been quite a culture shock for me. Especially the people. Most of them are nice but Heather takes the cake in rudeness and being tacky. I placed my order and asked how long it would take and she said 10 minutes. I asked her what beers they had on tap and she pointed to the tap about 10 feet away. I really couldn't see even though I wear glasses. The only one that I could make out was Bud Light so that's what I got. She brought it over to me and it was nowhere near a full beer. I got fuller beers in college on quarter beer night!! Of course I didn't say anything. Then Heather put the container in front of me and said....."Here's your food" She just bat a thousand and I'm sure that she doesn't like baseball. Even though I just received the shittiest service out of all the places that I've been, I still gave her a tip. Which she didn't deserve. MY parents raised me better. Then when I got home, I opened the container and I was mad because I paid extra for french fries and the order was extremely skimpy. I spent $16 for a chicken sandwich, fries and half a beer on tap. The food was good but definitely not worth the price. DEFINITELY not worth it to endure the lack of customer service. I'll never go back to dine in or order food to go. I strongly suggest that you don't bother washing your time or money. There are other places that are much better. Check out my reviews on Google.
