Amazing food and great times with old friends, sharing stories from our past. Unfortunately no pics to share, but highly recommended

Below-average service and even worse food. Everything tasted overcooked and bitter, which often points to old or poorly maintained fryer oil. The wait time was also unacceptable, especially considering the restaurant was only about 15% full. Overall, a very disappointing experience that fell well short of expectations. read more

I think Jack's pub is under management. We went there the other night for fish. I had baked cod I got two little dinky pieces. My wife got fried cod and that was very good. I had two double whiskeys and they charged me $36 that's robbery. I'll never go back here again and I used to go here all the time. That place always used to be packed on Friday night hardly anybody there. read more

Last Friday, we visited Jax Pub to try their fish. Two of us had the blackened cod, and the other two had the fried cod. All of us enjoyed our meals. The server was friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the restaurant was clean. read more

Service: 5 Stars Ambience: 5 Stars Food/Beverage: 5 Stars Living your best life: 5 Stars! Kelly the owner is AWESOME! Bro bought me a shot and a drink for visiting from out of town! I love this place! I'm just visiting and the owner approached me and started talking to me and all of the servers were attentive and SUPER HOT! And I just felt loved and appreciated here. I came on a Tuesday after a stressful telework day, but this place is definitely the place to go to when you want a drink and food with some friends and a super chill atmosphere that you can appreciate. As a Yelp review who's visiting from out of town, I HIGHLY recommend coming here! read more

I came into town from Indiana to celebrate our niece's 21st birthday. We pulled into the parking lot around 12:15 a.m. All the bar lights were on, we are on the sidewalk getting ready to walk-ini, all the lights shut off and the doors locked. We could see the employees inside, moving in the bar. Very rude and horrible customer service read more

Place was next to a hocky rink my kid plays at and we were hungry and desperate. Mozzarella sticks were cold and tasted like they came out of a stoffers freezer box. Ordered nachos and after 45 minutes of waiting had to tell waitress we had to go - waited 10 minutes more and at that point we were late and needed to leave - still no nachos. If you can't get a simple appetizer right I'm sure the nachos would have sucked anyway. Dumpy atmosphere seems like only place around for the bar flies, kids and desperate 40 yo. and older women to go to find a future third husband. Waitress was nice and over worked. read more

The Food: Jax hands down has the best jerk chicken wings I've eaten a very long time. They are so well seasoned and deliciously spicy. I seriously crave these at least once a week after having them. I also order the loaded fries along with it, which have crispy bacon, tomato and cheese topped on the fries. Yummm! The Pricing: Very reasonable and doesn't break the bank. An order of wings comes with a couple of sticks of celery and carrots, as well as a cup of ranch or bleu cheese. You do have to order fries at an additional cost. Ambiance: It's your typical sports bar setting. High table tops throughout the restaurant, a long bar area with several TV's with all the sports events on. I do enjoy going there, having a couple drinks, wings, and loaded fries after a long week. I highly recommend going there and enjoying their jerk wings and a couple drinks with friends. Thank me later! read more

This was the first time for us. It's not a huge menu, which is great. There are plenty of choices for food and beer. We like a good choice for craft beers. Our food was really good, nothing special as far as menu but very tasty. The cheese curds, however, were probably some of the best I have ever had. Our server was fine. She did her job. If in the area we would certainly consider eating here again. And they do have a patio where dogs are allowed, so this is a huge plus for us with our little furry friend. read more

When the food finally came (30+ minutes) after the staff took the order, I was almost not hungry anymore. I would not have stayed but had family with 2 preschoolers with me and kept telling the little ones "they are making our food, it will be here soon." The manager's response about the wait was that they "got swamped because of the polar plunge." and "I understand." No apology or free soda. I suggest she watch Bar Rescue and get tips for letting customers the situation, offering free soda, and appropriate ticket time (she said their's is 20 minutes), as well as planning ahead when big events are in the vicinity. This is also an excuse since there are many reviews about the poor service. On the plus side the food is "ok" and did come to the table hot. Still, the food is not worth waiting that long. I will not go back. read more

Had so much fun. Food and service is perfect Fun place to go with family friends or a date.

We were really impressed with the food and the service we received this Sunday during our family lunch. We ordered as appetizers some wings and a big nacho platter with all the fixings. Everything came hot and fresh and way above average for bar food. Each one of us had ordered something different. The Rueben was amazing! Freshly shaved corn beef. My wife had the all you can eat Walleye fish filets which was huge portions, hand battered, fresh, very tasty.... We will be back to eat again it was that good! I want to try the hand battered pork tenderloin sandwich. read more

A Co worker and I went in for a drink and some food. The location you kinda gotta drive around a parking lot to get to it. Lots of parking, if I remember we went on a Wednesday night. I ordered some buffalo wings and some italian bread with sauce. These wings are not your small dinky wings, they are large and packed with meat. The medium hour sauce was not as hot as BWW, so get the step up hotter sauce if you like hotter. The italian bread with the sauce was so good. Service was not great but good. Sort of relaxed atmosphere compared to RBIs. Well definitely stop back in when in the area. If your reading this post, stop in you won't be disappointed with the portion and the quality of the food. read more

Excellent Fish fry & shrimp. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. Beer selection is fantastic

Oof. Dropped my kiddos off at the the Ice House and thought I would go to Jax for a drink and burger. ‍ I ordered a burger and fries with a side of mayo for my fries (mayo is better than ketchup. Fight me. Lol). While dipping my fries in the mayo, a large green chunk comes up. Gag. So I set the fry down and start digging in the mayo and a another chunk of something brown comes up. At this point I set it on the side of the plate and waved my waitress over. She was apologetic but WHAT THE FUVK. No interest in having it remade just get me out of there. FYI: I don't know what the brown stuff was but the green stuff was just super wilted lettuce. You figure out how wilted lettuce gets in mayo. So my .02- do not go here. Just don't lol read more

Hello everyone, You know I usually don't post situations on FB unless it's a story to be told!!!! So I once again EXPERIENCED RACISM!!! I've been coming to Jax Pub In Loves Park IL off and on for YEARS and has NEVER had any problems, always good food and fun, as I too have told people how great of an establishment it is to hang out and have a good time with no drama. I was here at Jax pub Friday May 24th, had no problem getting in, I had such a great time I returned Saturday May 25th... Well tonight I arrived at Jax Pub and was stopped at the door, the bouncer told me his boss said I was no longer allowed in his establishment because my shorts are too long, his EXACT WORDS were, " MY BOSS SAID HE WAS PISSED LAST TIME YOU CAME HERE WITH THAT SHIT ON, AND HE SAID YOU ARE NO LONGER ALLOWED HERE WITH THAT SHIT ON" the bouncer said he stated to his boss, that they are just long shorts and he thought they were pants, the bouncer again stated his boss said " HE DOES NOT WANT THIS SHIT I HAD ON IN HIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! I was in utterly SHOCK due to the FACT that I've been coming here for a while off and on and I was just here, last weekend. I am so tired of my race being targeted, when there is good and bad in EVERY RACE!!! So once again being a GOOD PERSON NEVER CAUSING OR HAVING ANY PROBLEMS NO MATTER WHERE I GO, I am no longer allowed in a bar do to the way I dress which is NO AT ALL OFFENCIVE TO ANYONE!!! Another sad stoy. It's sad after all these years racism is still so bad, they might as well go back to BLACKS ONLY and WHITES ONLY, because that's where it's headed. This is what I am wearing, I am five foot three and a half and I wear men clothing, when I buy clothing especially shorts I don't consider length as who would have thought this would have ever been a problem, but if your black African American, I've learned now it's a problem, if the owner of an establishment is racist and have a problem urban clothing. Nothing sagging just LONG SHORTS, so if it's not racist somebody please tell me what is it!!!!! I forgot to mention the FACT that I suffer from a vein disease in my legs which is also a reason why I do wear long shorts, but neither here nor there if it's not racism please somebody tell me what is it. I was in such I totally shock, I was standing there waiting for the bouncer to say he was just kidding with me, but he proceeded to say he was seriously, so I just walked away in disbelief. That's probably not what they expected, but I am by far not confrontational. read more

Arrived here last Fri around 6:30, quickly seated at a table that was just leaving. Ordered a wine and a martini, then cod dinner and a walleye dinner. Drinks took forever to come , and the food was at least 30 minutes more and mine was cold. My friend needs dairy-free food so I assumed mine waited out while his was specially prepared. The bill came with a Tito Vodka @10.50 although I never specify brand vodka, ever. Supposedly there is only a $0.25 difference! One and done. The wait staff seemed to be moving fast but apparently bar and kitchen need more help read more

Aweful slow service every time. Third and last time coming here. Been here for an hour and a half and still don't have any food. Have a group of people and we've only gotten one round of drinks in an hour and a half. It's close to hockey but never again. After finally getting the food orders got switched and people who showed up after us got food first. read more

Been here a few times and had excellent service. If you are in to pork tenderloin sandwich, they serve one the best we've had (hand made/breaded) and the premium sides are quite good as well. Good beer selection makes this place a 'must try' in my book. Only down side we saw is had to manuever a couple of parking lots to get in to. Have fun here! read more

Absolutely the worst place I have ever been to. My friend, WHO HAD A VALID 21 ID, was denied entry into the bar. We were given an awful explanation and none of our questions were answered. Instead, they tried to brush us by and we were treated with complete disrespect. There are much better bars in Rockford and I would take your business elsewhere. Completely unacceptable and extremely rude. I rarely write reviews on bars or restaurants however, this was completely unacceptable. I really really will never be going back. TRUST ME. read more

Lots of TV's, definitely a sports bar, Has a smoking area outside and a lot of tables. The crowd is a bit older for bar scenes, mid to late twenties, not too much of a crazy party spot. But a nice place to start. Also, didn't have to wait too long for a strong drink. It was well staffed. read more

Jax is a great sports bar, chock phull of monitors and even have at-the- table speakers so you can listen to you phavorite game while others listen to theirs. They also are one of the better gaming bars with darts, pool , giant jenga ( 6 ft tall you gotta see it) , and a one of a kind drop-the-claw for a real lobster ( no phoolin) The food and beer is OK, a replica of the sister restaurant Oscars on east state. Better than average pub phood and beers but no stand outs. iIt is a nice place I go for some brew and conversation. read more

When u first walk in its a pretty stereotypical bar where you sit yourself for the Thursday night football game. I waited for about 5 mins. and nobody said anything to my friend and I. I thought it was because we were the only minorities in there so I walked to the bar and the bartender sent me to the waitress who ended sending me to another. I felt like they were pawning us off. I felt like we weren't wanted there, but then the waitress that took our order definitely made up for it with her great hospitality. She made us feel like regulars. She was tentative and came at the right time. Overall, I would come here again as long as the hospitality is good as today. read more

Jax is probably my favorite neighborhood Pub. If you're British...this means you can have drinks in a family-friendly environment. If you're in town for any tournament, convention, or medical visits - this is your spot. Burgers to Shrimp & Soup delicious Menu - very rea$onable. Killer service "which is a bit rare in this area" as well. It's very easy to see ownership is present. Sorry; I always forget to take a picture of food. I'll see if I can add after. Please enjoy our Rockford. read more

Everything about this place is great. The food is amazing. Service amazing. Love how they handle business.

This is your typical sports bar trying to be a club. During the day or a game it's not bad at all you can sit there watch and have fun. As the night goes on it gets louder and the service starts to drop off. I've been here for a couple of Sunday games and it's not so bad. However, on a couple of a nights I've been there with friends it got really loud and the crowd was just annoying. Their beer selection is standard. They have the basics on tap and a couple of craft/imports in bottles, but nothing that will make you go out of the way to get. Depending on what you are looking for, this could or could not be your bar. read more

Good sports bar with a nice, clean atmosphere for watching games. There is a large, projector screen TV in the back that the whole bar can see and large TVs along the back wall behind the bar. The food is great for bar food. Big menu with options to meet most food preferences. I personally enjoy their wraps. They also have great homemade pub chips. read more

This bar has a bad rap for its late night crowd. I personally have never experienced it but that's because im 30 now and staying out until 2AM sounds horrible lol. So from 5-10 at night I have never experienced a problem in this bar ever. read more

About an average looking bar with not so very good food or service. The place was packed with young people the day i went and the place appears to be popular. The drinks are fairly priced and this is about a type of pub one can expect in Rockford especially given how far it is from the downtown. it took forever for my order and was not really worth the wait as I could of had three beers by the time a simple burger came out read more

I would not even give this establishment one star. I am horrified at the way my husband was treated last night. After playing a game of hockey he and his teammates went over to Jax for a drink. My 50 year old husband was not allowed entry because he had a white tshirt on. REALLY???? We have been coming here since before it was Jax! The "bouncer" was rude and the situation handled poorly! I will be sure to spread the word to the hockey families we know! We will not be back! read more

this place may not have quite the crowd on the weekends but as described in the other review, this is definitely a good bar to start off at. My friend and I frequent this bar during football season. The flat screens are great and they have the NFL Sunday Ticket so no matter who you're cheering for, it's on a TV. The super huge HD projection screen is pretty sweet too. Food is also not bad. try the smokehouse nachos. eats like a meal. read more
