This was a fun laidback place to hang out with friends. We stopped here on a girls day in between activities.

Emily is a great bartender. Food isn't bad . Drinks are reasonable. Try the "Dugout."

A lot has changed since the last time we visited a few years ago…read more We were looking to break out of what I call our "DeKalb" funk since we have been eating a lot in DeKalb when we do eat out. I thought of Hoffman House, which is co-located inside a hotel. We'd eaten there years ago, and their prime rib was very good. While driving north, my wife looked it up. They changed from a white table cloth restaurant to more of a sports bar theme. Their entree list was rather anemic and just not worth the trip, except they did offer Prime Rib on Saturday. We made the trip. For starters, when you walk in there is no hostess station. The bartender told us "Sit where ever you want." so we found a booth that was clean and sat down. The seating was, well worn as in worn out. The seat covers were chipping on the chairs, and the booth seating was just dead. Our server arrived and we placed our order. My wife ordered tea, and I had a Guiness draft which was properly poured. The server brought out 4 honey buns, which are light and fluffy, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and served with a honey butter blend. They are best when they arrive - HOT. (Eat them as they arrive) It wasn't very long before the main course came out. No salad was offered. My Prime Rib was ordered and served medium rare, and the baked potato was cooked properly. I was expecting some horseradish sauce with the Prime Rib - nope. My wife did enjoy her shaved Prime Rib sandwich - the roll it was on was nice, and she opted for the premium onion strings, which were tasty. Why just okay? This was a place to go for a nice dinner with your family. It has transformed into a tired sports bar. Lots of screens, but it's kind of half-hearted with regards to the sports bar theme. Servers aren't in sports uniforms, there isn't a lot of stuff on the walls. The seating is worn out and should be either refinished or replaced. It feel like they ran out of money or concepts during the conversion, and just stopped. There is nothing compelling here to bring us back.

Our family contracted the Hoffman House to provide food for our family reunion. I have contacted the contact at Hoffman House to be reimbursed for the meals. I will update my review if this matter is settled to my satisfaction which looks like being reimbursed for the meals that none of us ate.

This place has been around forever, and for good reason! They have a great, casual, fun atmosphere…read morewith lots of sports playing all around. The place is slightly split into two parts: one side for dining and another for the bar. They have a million beers on tap, and also have wine and a full bar. Servers are friendly and helpful! The menu is pretty simple, all American food. So if you're not into that you might want to look elsewhere. But the stuff they offer they do really well. The fish and chips are great and the nacho portions are huge. They also do burgers well too. We got the kids spaghetti and meatballs for our son and it was good but the meatballs were spicy which seemed like a weird choice. The warm cookie topped with cold ice cream is the perfect dessert choice to end the night!

Mediocre experience. Server was nice but inattentive to our table. Disappeared for lengthy time…read more Took 20 mins or more to get drinks. 10 mins before came to us to take order then another 10-15 mins to make 3 sodas and walk them 2 feet over to us. We were seated in the bar area. Bread sticks came out fresh, hot and were delicious. Well seasoned and perfectly cheesy . We were starving and inhaled them so fast I forgot to take a pic. Our order consisted of Spaghetti and Meatballs, BBQ Burger with tots and pizza with side cesear salad. The spaghetti came out look warm which was very disappointing. But it was very tasty and filling. Sauce was full of flavor and so were the HUGE meatballs. I can only imagine how much better it would have been hot. Would def order this again. The BBQ Burger was reported to be well cooked and yummy. It was also mildly warm when it came out. Tots were reported to be well seasoned and mildly warm also. Pizza was reported to be ok. It was also only warm. Son wasn't too impressed with it and he loves pizza. It looked very fake... like premade frozen pizza. He didn't eat but 2 small slices of it. Cesar salad was basic. Oddly enough the lettuce was warm instead of cold. So what I gather from all the temperature issues is that the food was made and sat out. That's disappointing. If it was brought out fresh I bet I could have given this a much higher rating. Refills were a struggle to get. She gave my husband and son 1 refill then never came back to check on us until it was time for the check. And again.. it was not even close to being busy. I counted 8 families in the whole place from time we arrived to time we left.
