We have been driving to Galena on a regular basis for close to 20 years before we heard about Riddot Corners Restaurant. We stopped a month ago and went back a month later. They make the best burgers in all of NW Illinois. You have to stop and try this place out. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they treat everyone with respect and kindness including first timers. The place is clean and the locals love to meet first timers. It is packed at night for good reason. We will be regular guests when we go to Galena. The prices and food quality are excellent. read more

Awesome wayside bar and grill on highway 20. Their burgers are some of the best I've ever had. They also have a taco Tuesday which I enjoyed and serve pizzas which I have yet to try. Reasonably priced great service and the good bar selection. read more

For years people have been recommending Ridott Corners to me. I've driven and rode past it many times, but yesterday I finally decided to stop and check it out. It's located at the corner of US 20 and S. Rock City Rd. The entrance to the parking lot is off of S. Rock City Rd. The building is small, there's not a lot of space. It looks like it was an old gas station converted to a bar & grill. If you are a fan of small town, mom and pop, or dive bar environments Ridott Corners is right up your alley. Typical bar signage and neon on the walls, slot machines, dart boards pushed off to the side. Tables that were designed to be moved out of the way for dart night... I'm assuming. Or for what ever other reasons they need to clear the small dining area. The place was packed when we walked in. Fortunately there was one open table. Maybe it was because we were hungry, but the food smells were amazing. We sat ourselves and looked at the menu. The menu is rather limited. Their "World Famous Burgers", grilled cheese, and "Pizza from Scratch". But if you're going to Ridott Corners for anything other than the burger, I'm not sure why you are going. I say that because EVERYONE that has been there talks up the burgers. I ordered the Jalapeno Burger, my son had the Bacon Cheeseburger. These are 1/2 pound burgers and appear to be homemade patties. They were big, thick, and not perfect circles. Just the way they should be. We got to choose our cheese, both of us went with Pepper Jack. We had the choice of chips to go with it. They don't do fries or other sides. The burgers came in a reasonable time. They looked amazing. The burger had a good flavor, it was juicy. I thought it was good. I would have preferred fresh over pickled Jalapenos, and the burger to be cooked more to medium than well done, but it was still a good burger. I wouldn't say it was the best burger I've had, but it was a good one. The service was good. The waitress appeared to be the only server working the floor, and she hustled. She was friendly and would check on us from time to time. Overall.. if you're driving by, I'd check it out. read more

OMG this place is soooo great! We found it last year doing a food search on Google Map. (Seems it doesn't show up on YELP. Not enough reviews?) Anyway... we were looking for somewhere to quench our thirst & burger craving on the way to Galena. We ended up here and the cheeseburgers were such a delicious surprise- even at twice the price! This clean & comfortable little tavern serves a griddle-cooked hand-packed, half-pound of fresh ground beef on soft bakery-baked bun. (Be patient because everything is made to order on a very small griddle!) So this year our group decided to try again and yup, it wasn't an anomaly. Fantastic!! As a matter of fact, it's three days later and we're here on our way back home to Chicago lol. Definitely also need to give a shout out to the very nice staff. read more

OMG BEST HAMBURGER EVER!!!! I am writing this immediately after getting home - 2 hr trip.. It is a small nice road side bar with great staff and locals. They only serve burgers and be prepared to wait. These burgers take a while and they have only a small grill. Can't wait to get my second covid shot and go back and sit at the bar. read more

If there were half stars I would give this more like a 31/2 based solely on the fact that our one burger and one grilled cheese sandwich took about 45 minutes . We stopped on our way to Galena expecting a gourmet burger based on all the reviews . It was fine but not the best ever. The grilled cheese was actually better . Overall the service was friendly and the food was cheap . If you are looking for a neighborhood bar this is a great spot for a beer and football game but I don't recommend it if you are more interested in food. read more

Hamburger or Cheese-burger, take your choice. That's it for the entire menu, and after decades of making just that, they've got it perfect. Add a bag of locally made chips and a good craft local beer, and you've got a good meal. Cooked exactly as requested, good juicy burger. Typical locals bar right off IL-20 in the middle from Rockford to Freeport, with absolutely nothing else for miles. Nothing fancy bar, but updated with new paneling from years ago. Ridott's has my favorite cheeseburger of all time. My Uncle took me there when I was a little kid. This is the place that changed me from wanting fast food, I no longer wanted to stop at McDonalds for a burger, this is the place I wanted to go. 30 years later, I still rate this as the place with the best cheeseburgers. These aren't your gourmet fancy burgers with aioli and all the other fancy crap. This is a good old fashioned American cheeseburger, the way it should be. I have since moved far away from Ridott's but when I get a chance, I am going back. Ridott's is the perfect mid-western dive bar in the middle of farm country and will always be a special place to me. read more

We stopped in on a Sunday after a motorcycle ride to get some lunch. I had the Bloody Mary and it was great. The bartender said they make their own mix. It was a bit spicy but had great flavor. The menu is very small. I was disappointed that they didn't have French fries since I am a fry fanatic so I had potato chips instead. I ordered a cheese burger and it was fantastic! I don't eat burgers very often but I would make the trip back out there again to have one of those cheeseburgers! The bill was $9! That was pretty cool too. read more

Stopped on a Sat last part of August. The place was busy BUT: An hour for two hamburger in not good. Especially when three parties that ordered before had already received theirs. One party was done and had left. The bartender/cook possibly the owner commented that they were not McDonalds and that they had been in business a long time. One problem was that the lone wait help took ll four orders before turning them in. Ours found it's way to the end. No apologies just defensive. Too bad as burgers were good. Good Luck? read more

Great place, I make sure I stop in for a beer and a world famous burger

I ordered the one pound cheese burger. It was $8.75 and didn't even come with fries. The burger was seasoned and was ok. My beef is the cheap bun. I hate cheap wimpy buns. Their claims is the worlds best burger...I don't know...the bun didn't work for me. A one pound burger deserves a big bun instead of a small bun held together with two wooden knitting needle-like skewers. Charge the extra buck and increase the bun and add some fries. Service was good. Need to rethink the bun. read more
