For years people have been recommending Ridott Corners to me. I've driven and rode past it many times, but yesterday I finally decided to stop and check it out. It's located at the corner of US 20 and S. Rock City Rd. The entrance to the parking lot is off of S. Rock City Rd. The building is small, there's not a lot of space. It looks like it was an old gas station converted to a bar & grill. If you are a fan of small town, mom and pop, or dive bar environments Ridott Corners is right up your alley. Typical bar signage and neon on the walls, slot machines, dart boards pushed off to the side. Tables that were designed to be moved out of the way for dart night... I'm assuming. Or for what ever other reasons they need to clear the small dining area. The place was packed when we walked in. Fortunately there was one open table. Maybe it was because we were hungry, but the food smells were amazing. We sat ourselves and looked at the menu. The menu is rather limited. Their "World Famous Burgers", grilled cheese, and "Pizza from Scratch". But if you're going to Ridott Corners for anything other than the burger, I'm not sure why you are going. I say that because EVERYONE that has been there talks up the burgers. I ordered the Jalapeno Burger, my son had the Bacon Cheeseburger. These are 1/2 pound burgers and appear to be homemade patties. They were big, thick, and not perfect circles. Just the way they should be. We got to choose our cheese, both of us went with Pepper Jack. We had the choice of chips to go with it. They don't do fries or other sides. The burgers came in a reasonable time. They looked amazing. The burger had a good flavor, it was juicy. I thought it was good. I would have preferred fresh over pickled Jalapenos, and the burger to be cooked more to medium than well done, but it was still a good burger. I wouldn't say it was the best burger I've had, but it was a good one. The service was good. The waitress appeared to be the only server working the floor, and she hustled. She was friendly and would check on us from time to time. Overall.. if you're driving by, I'd check it out.

Best burgers in Illinois! We make the 45min drive all the time to get this epic burger and chips. Great staff, always good burgers, and safe atmosphere.

OMG this place is soooo great! We found it last year doing a food search on Google Map. (Seems it doesn't show up on YELP. Not enough reviews?) Anyway... we were looking for somewhere to quench our thirst & burger craving on the way to Galena. We ended up here and the cheeseburgers were such a delicious surprise- even at twice the price! This clean & comfortable little tavern serves a griddle-cooked hand-packed, half-pound of fresh ground beef on soft bakery-baked bun. (Be patient because everything is made to order on a very small griddle!) So this year our group decided to try again and yup, it wasn't an anomaly. Fantastic!! As a matter of fact, it's three days later and we're here on our way back home to Chicago lol. Definitely also need to give a shout out to the very nice staff.

Ridott Cheeseburger, local chips and a good beer. Doesn't get any better!

It may be kind of dumpy inside but the place is also full of crazy personality. A lot of the basics along with a few fancier items. The prices are pretty okay for the portions and quality. Basically if you're a group it will probably be waiting for a table so go early. It's one of the popular places to go around here. The last time coming here we got seats at the bar and there wasn't any waiting. Has a lot of cool memorabilia to look at. There's a bunch of funny signs on the walls. It's about $7 for a basic cocktail. The Fuzzy Navel is one of the classics you can get. It's about $13 for a burger and fries. They have a veggie burger that can substitute. We each got one of these. I got it with the toppings of the Basic Burger. These come with the usual toppings like lettuce, mayonnaise which I left off, onions, pickles, and tomatoes. She got it with the toppings of the Olive Burger. These come with cheddar, lettuce, mayonnaise, olives, onions, Swiss, and tomatoes. For sure it gets busy. It's located on Main at Franklin. They're closed Wednesdays.

We ordered two cheeseburger kids meals with fries for our little humans (who were thrilled, and honestly, so were we sneaking a fry or two) and the San Francisco Patty Melt--which is chicken-based and satisfying enough to hit the spot. The kids' meals were solid: burgers and fries that were tasty and well-sized for little appetites. The San Francisco Patty Melt was enjoyable--juicy chicken, melty cheese, toasted bread, and a reliably comforting choice. Durty Gurt's has a fun, lively vibe that makes you want to cheer when your food arrives, and the playful, colorful décor--bright signs, quirky wall art, and whimsical little touches everywhere--makes the whole place feel like a cheerful, slightly wacky diner full of personality.

Did I mention it took an HOUR from order to first delivery, and then longer for the two chicken sandwiches, then longer for the re-fire on the under cooked burger. The burger I had was good but in no way worth any type of wait. And the place wasn't even packed!! Good burgers and onion rings. EXTREMELY SLOW SERVICE. And really not attentive for a small town restaurant. I would pass on this place. It's good but not worth a trip out of the way, nor worth waiting.

Today we ordered a maple bacon milkshake, peanut butter milkshake, 1/4 pound grilled cheese burger on toast, 1/2 pound New Orleans burger and a shareable basket of parmesan truffle fries. Let's start with the positives, the shakes were well made and not overwhelmingly sweet and we liked that a lot. My husband's 1/2 pound burger seemed a little small and my grilled cheese burger said it would be on Texas toast but it seemed like it was sourdough bread and not really thick cut like Texas toast should be. I was looking forward to eating here because the pictures of the fries online looked long and thick cut, the basket of fries we got didn't look like that at all and lacked Parmesan cheese. The negative experience was the fact the water tasted weird. I took one sip and tasted a weird chemical taste but my husband and I didn't complain, we just paid and left. I don't know if it was the water or the cup but it definitely had a weird taste. Overall, the experience was ok. I think we had higher expectations seeing all the pictures online. The name of the place threw us both off because we thought it was a Latino owned burger joint with a Mexican twist but that wasn't the case at all.
