Gritty McDuff's in Auburn is an excellent choice for dinner and drinks!…read more I walked to Grittys from my hotel and sat inside the bar while they made our food to-go. The bar is spacious and on Thursday night they had someone playing life music. We ordered a pizza, burger, and pickle chips and all of the food was tasty. The service is also excellent! Only reason for 4 stars is I didn't care for their beers. I tried their blueberry ale and hazy IPA. I'm a bit of an IPA snob so don't let this ruin your opportunity to have an amazing experience. Grittys has an amazing outside dining area and a large menu! Check them out if you're in Auburn!

Having the option of sitting outside is fantastic! Loved that…read more Varied menu options - for beer, drinks, and food. Mac & Cheese with kielbasa was good. We were surprised to see a pile of jalapeños included - maybe it's on the menu and we missed it. Corn bread was moist. I opted for a build your own burger which was great. No bun, lettuce and tomato. The waitress told me to just tell her what I wanted on it and she'd get it for me. Cool. She didn't tell me I would be charged an extra $1 for a tiny bit of spinach, and 75 cents each for grilled onions and mushrooms. Not cool. I definitely would have just selected an "already made" option. I asked for sautéed mushrooms and onions so was a little surprised to get deep fried shrooms. There were good - I would probably order, and even be willing to pay extra, for them again. My issue was not being told. The seasoned fries were really good. The iced tea and Hazy IPA were (of course) good. Our waitress was a bit too attentive. It seemed almost like every time we took a bite, she was asking if everything was okay. Maybe just check in a couple times over the course of the meal? Please do remember that 3 is not bad. For me, it's a solid average.

We were looking for a quick lunch option and thought Sea Dog would be that option…read more They are having staffing issues, which was a theme in the area. Though there were open tables we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Which was fine but then we had to wait after that. The host could have at least helped with drinks to fill the time. He was not seating anyone. Our server was polite and apologetic and did have the entire bar and tables around her. The energy in the place was rough, but I was looking forward to my sunfish wheat, and it was enjoyable. The meal was fine when it arrived, but we had been there for almost 90 minutes. Just be prepared. But though it is a theme with some restaurants, others were doing fine. So, not sure. I do love the Sea Dog and in South Portland, I had a mug.

This brewery was right next to our hotel so we stopped by here for dinner and drinks. The beer was…read moredelicious, but everything else made our visit difficult to enjoy. We ordered: -fried pickles -chicken tenders -chicken wings The chicken wings were ice cold and not edible. We tried to deal, but didn't feel safe eating it so we asked for it to be re-heated. They sent out our wings the second time even more cold than the previous so we just cancelled that order. The pickles and tenders were edible but were room temperature and stale. Food was not it. We left worrying that we might have gotten food poisoning. Definitely don't recommend for food.

Needed to update this 5 star review with ANOTHER 5 star. Over the years the quality has remained…read moreand they continue to add unique items to the menu (like cheesecake stuffed donut sandwiches!) On my most recent visit the things I loved: *the service of course! *blueberry lemon cupcake. There aren't enough words to describe the deliciousness. The cupcake is filled with a blueberry compote (or something like that) and frosted with a lemon frosting. It's just amazing. AND if you keep it in the fridge and microwave it for 10 seconds, the filling warms up. YUM *maple frosted cinnamon roll. I've had their buns before but they definitely grew in size. Either plan to eat over 2 meals or share because it's ginormous If they ever have the ooey gooey banana bread cinnamon rolls, try it! So good

This is a real hit or miss local small business for me. On one hand, I've had some of the most…read moredelicious and creative sweet treats I've ever had from here. On the other hand, they've posted on social media to come try their newest fresh baked good, for me to drive over (I live two minutes away) and see a hand written sign on the door that says, be back in fifteen minutes. Forty minutes later, they still weren't back. I understand that we all have emergencies come up, but you need to take care of your customers and in those times, just play it safe and say you're closed for the day. After that incident, I don't go anymore, I have my friend grab me stuff when she goes, but it is good. Parking is fine, prices are okay, the vibe outside and inside is really cool. Give it a shot and hopefully you don't have a fluke. Really creative options.
