Yummy bagels and sandwiches. They are doing takeout during Covid. The everything bagels are usually the first to sell out. I love that the bagel has the topping on both the top & bottom. My faves are the sausage, egg & cheese sandwich (ask them to cut it in half) and if I just want a bagel the jalapeño cream cheese. It's not spicy but flavorful. They also sell bags of homemade bagel chips and doggie bagel treats. They share a parking lot with a bank so don't be confused if it looks like you are in the wrong place. Oy, what great bagels! I moved from NYC to Maine 20 years ago and and after trying many "rolls with holes" in baker dozens of places, resigned myself to the fact that I'd never find a decent bagel until I visited my hometown again. Luckily I stumbled upon M Bagel on my way to a meeting in Brunswick to change my mind. Smooth on the outside, chewy on the inside, lots of toppings and such to stuff into them. I wolfed down the everything with cream cheese in the parking lot and had the chicken salad on sesame for the lunch break. It was the highlight of the meeting. A nice staff to boot. I drive by this place everyday and never stop and have no idea why. I decided to stop in today on a whim and I have no idea why. Highlights: The jalapeño cream cheese rocked!! I expected it to be bland but it had a really nice zip!! Midlights: Not sure that is a word but what the hell.. The bagels were good but not spectacular. Bagels from Mister Bagel have exceeded my expectations. I went to this particular shop in Brunswick Maine because the cream cheese selections are delicious and I wanted the lox spread. While waiting for a breakfast sandwich, I picked up a bag of day old bagels and enjoyed a nice surprise! My breakfast sandwich, the day old bagels and the cream cheese I purchased for take out, scooped in a hand dipped container, were all terrific. Ordering on line before going to the shop is a time saver, too. Try the veggie cream cheese, it was also a delicious surprise. read more

This place is a disgrace. We bought four bagels that were supposedly fresh, that were actually as hard as hockey pucks. And this was first thing in the morning, for all four flavors. Only the asiago one had any flavor. I was raised on bagels, and while I don't expect them to be outstanding at every shop, I do expect them to be edible. These are horrible. read more

It's a great choice if you need quick gluten free food. They have a separate prep area and toaster. They will even open a fresh tub of cream cheese so they won't get little gluten crumbs in your food. The coffee is nothing special, but it's fine. read more

This place drives me nuts. They never have enough bagels, they're always closed, and now there's a sign that says you can only take 6 bagels at a time (unless you preorder). What kind of a bagel place skimps on its bagel sales? If you want to get a dozen bagels, you should be able to get a dozen bagels from a place named Mister Bagel. Today I paid $21 because I wanted my two bagels with lox, capers and tomatoes open faced. Apparently that costs more because you get a few extra slices of tomato. I wish I had been told that each sandwich was going to cost $11 to have it open faced. Never gave me any clue that 2 more slices of tomato i.e., "extra vegetables" was adding $3+to each sandwich. Ok, one bagel was gluten free, but still... And I could have thrown those 2 bagels together in 4 minutes. Instead, it took 20 minutes to make the order, plus attitude. The people who work there are SO NICE and they even ASK YOU how much CREAM CHEESE you want. There is nothing like a restaurant that cares about the wants of their customers! Here is something about the bagels: they have plenty of options including seasonal varieties and also plenty of cream cheese and topping options. The bagels are good too, obviously different from NY/NJ bagels but still good! And they aren't too big which I didn't even know I found appealing in a bagel. So disappointed in the customer service received today. Stopped in for a quick wrap with my 6 y/o on our way through town at 1:10 pm. It took the woman 10 minutes to make said veggie wrap. Then, she wraps it to go without even asking if we are eating in. I state we are eating here. She looks around, looks at the clock (1:20) and says that's fine but we close at 1:30. Seriously, who kicks people out of their restaurant or blatantly makes a customer feel so awkward about sitting down to eat? We sat down and they made sure we knew they were closing; locking the front door, stocking the cooler, and staring at us while doing so. Tremendously unprofessional and rude. I have been is hospitality and customer service my whole life and I was appalled with this situation. The women working there should fine a new profession or position as they clearly are not there because they have a passion for the food or the customers they are serving. Also, while I was waiting one of the women took an order from a 'Melissa' whom they all continued to complain about. Just baffling experience. Stopped for a bagel and coffee, a change from the Dunkin's. I was acknowledged even though she was waiting on another customer great first impression. The cashier was extremely friendly . The coffee is serve yourself with about 8 variety's so make it your way. They have a large selection of bagels , spreads and sandwiches. I had the onion bagel with chive cream cheese. I liked the fact they give you the option of how heavy or light you want your cc. For a shop specializing in bagels found the bagel a bit on the small side. The bagel and the cc were fresh and flavorful. The staff was very friendly and keeps the place spotless and there's 9 tables and a small kids area. They even cleared away my trash for me. First bagel shop that I have ever been to that limits the amount of bagels that you can purchase. I wanted to pick up a dozen bagels for our son's football tailgate on Saturday. But, to our surprise, we were limited to buy just 3 bagels. The lady behind the counter said that if she were to sell me the dozen that they would not have any bagels for other customers. I went for the first time. Three people on staff. Was standing in line and staff person took someone ahead of me. She clearly saw me and knew what she was doing. Took a man before me who apologized to me that he had gotten ahead of me because he saw what happened. No apology from any of the staff. Finally another worker came out and asked whose next so I had to say me. I abhor bad service and instead of a good start to the day it made it a bad one. The egg and cheese sandwich I had wasn't good either. Coffee was terrible. I would avoid this place. No one likes to feel invisible. And I personally never go back to places with bad service. As a lifelong bagel maven, I am consistently smitten with this shop. Two reasons to kvell: The bagels are smallish in the historically correct way and the seasoning is on both sides. The other day the young woman behind the counter treated me as if I were dining in a 5-star restaurant, offering to slice the bagels, then placing the 'everything' and the cinnamon raisin in separate small bags, explaining why, though I gladly would have taken them in a single bag. A large variety of fresh, tasty bagels; all kinds of spreads including light choices; a clean place to eat; and an expanded menu with a number of other food options. The bagels and spreads are good, but hopefully no one will get sick......we watched the woman behind the counter grab and slice the bagels we recently ordered with bare hands, no gloves. Then she proceeded to handle cash for customers while our bagels were toasting. Then she went back to our bagels, didn't wash her hands or put on gloves, and grabbed the toasted bagels with the same bare hands that just handled cash, and then she spread the cheese on top. Yuk! We were very grossed out and only ate a few bites. Very unsanitary to handle food with bare hands and then handle cash and then handle food again. Where were the gloves? Where are the restaurant inspectors? Coffee was very watered down in our opinion. Not a good place. read more
