Cool place. Further away than I thought it was going to be. Make sure you reserve a lane if you go bowling.

Upon entering, you will notice a small bar with an adequately stocked bar, featuring about 8 taps and a number of canned and bottled beers for your liking. There are plenty of high-top tables and booths to accommodate a decent crowd. MaGillycuddy's Bar is one of those places that instantly makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between cozy and relaxed, thanks in no small part to the awesome tin ceiling-- it kind of gives this place a vintage charm you don't see often. The crowd is just what one would expect, just regular folks enjoying a libation and watching the Wild game. And they have pulltabs!! We settled in on a high-top table and ordered beers and our lunch. The Nashville Hot Shrimp is a must-try. just the right amount of heat, and packed with flavor. The Guinness cheeseburger is an open-faced burger topped with fries, Guinness cheese sauce, and, of course, bacon. That was a bit messy, and was enjoyable, but there are some other items I will want to try before going back to that entree. Between the solid food offerings, the friendly vibe, and the cool interior, MaGillycuddy's has all the makings of a local favorite. If you're anywhere near Aonka, do yourself a favor and stop in--you won't regret it.

If I get a chance, its fun to go try some of the older variants and vintages of Darkness to see how they old up. It helps as well that Short or Tall does flights! I enjoyed five different pours of Darkness: Gimme S'More Darkness (2021): An Imperial Stout, Darkness, aged on Vanilla and Cinnamon aged in Bourbon Barrels reminiscent of a liquid s'more. Darkness (2016): An Imperial Stout aged for nearly ten years. A little thin bodied, which occurs over time, and a ton of sherry notes. Darkness (2025) Barrel-Aged: An Imperial Stout aged in Elijah Craig Bourbon Barrels and Creative Oak French Oak. The OG version of this year's BA Darkness. Chocolate Limoncello Darkness (2024): An Imperial Stout with Cacao and Lemon Puree hitting French Oak for a while as well. This is a weird one for sure. Vietnamese Coffee Darkness (2020): An Imperial Stout, Darkness, infused with Organic Robusta and Arabica Coffees from UP Coffee Roasters (local to MN), Vanilla Beans, and Coconut. It was aged in Rum Barrels. This one is an absolute delight and my first time trying it! My favorite of the flight. _____

I was a regular at The Lookout before this, and have easily spent thousands of dollars at this establishment, but I will literally NEVER go back. The bartender wouldn't allow us to sign our own tab, so she signed it herself right In front of us, which as far as I know is illegal. Maple Grove has so many options, and this is easily the worst customer experience that I have ever had. GO ANYHERE other than this place. The waitress will yell at you, call your entire group liars, and then kick you out for being upset about it. If you want to be treated for trash, even if you are a regular and tip over 30% every time, the this is the place for you.

Unfortunately, what was meant to be a celebratory evening turned uncomfortable. Our first bartender was dismissive and unfriendly from the start. The energy felt cold and unwelcoming. Later, a different bartender stepped in and completely shifted the tone as she was warm, attentive, and actually seemed happy we were there. I genuinely appreciated her professionalism. During our visit, a patron seated near us loudly glorified his sexual experiences with Black women. While that may not be the restaurant's fault directly, it created an uncomfortable atmosphere and added to the overall feeling that the space wasn't being thoughtfully managed. To make matters worse, after finishing most of our sliders (which were ordered through the first bartender), I found hair at the bottom of the basket. Finding hair in your food is never acceptable and completely disrupted what was supposed to be a special evening. We quickly paid and left. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but the combination of dismissive service, an uncomfortable environment, and a food sanitation issue made this experience disappointing especially for a celebration. I hope management takes feedback like this seriously, because no one should leave a celebratory dinner feeling unsettled instead of appreciated.

Nothing to complain about though, just not as seasoned or spicy as I would've preferred. Overall, still a good experience, just a bit odd.

Average bar food but an impressive bowling alley - 4 stars!…read more Super Bowl has a large bar & grill area with a (pretty much) full bar. The food & drink area is technically called "Pub 300". The food is average bar fare, definitely not a destination stop for food. But the customer service was excellent. And the prices are very reasonable. They have special events too like Bingo on Sundays and an eclectic mix of other things...like a "drink & paint" activity on the schedule. Interesting. The bowling alley is impressive. There's a whopping 24 lanes. I watched a while as my food was being prepared. They were busy as hell and bustling with activity. They look really well organized. Impressive. The bowling alley also has a big arcade and a "Snack Bar" window that's, essentially, the back side of the kitchen. There were servers running all over the place keeping people fed and hydrated with their drinks of choice. The final thing that really struck me is the huge diversity of people in attendance. There seemed to be every race and every economic level represented, all having a great time together in one building. I saw everything from beat-up pickup trucks to brand new fancy luxury cars in the parking lot. Cool. Normally I'd go with 3 stars with a place like this. But the giant bowling alley and the incredible staff, in my humble opinion, elevates the whole place to a solid 4 stars. -Maxx
