They have been the worst company to deal with. Incredibly non-responsive and have bungled one deal for the sale of our house and are delaying a second deal for the sale of our house. I would NOT recommend them if you want to lease your panels or will require communication from your solar company. They have been a nightmare. read more

I want to give an update on my future post. I still believe Sun Solar has poor communication with their customers. Saying they will call you back and don't and or keeping you updated with what is going on. I felt like I always had to call and would get a"let me find out and I will call you back", and never hear anything. Customer service is HUGE you need to show your customers that you care and you are doing everything you can to get the problem resolved. You can't tell your customer that i will only call you when i hear something or have something new to pass on. We need you to keep in touch with us. Anyway, they came out to fix our system it took just shy of 2 months to get the part in. They came yesterday morning and my system is working great it is producing a ton. I wish it would not have taken 2 months and I don't think that is acceptable. I hope we don't have any other issues that come up. Fingers crossed it stays producing like it is. read more

I am pleased with my system. It's only been turned on for a week, but it's doing what I expected it to do at this point. I appreciated that my solar consultant, Jordan, was not high pressure and was patient with me. I originally spoke with him in May 2019 and did not sign my agreement until the end of August 2019. Between dealing with my HOA and PGE, I was impressed with the speed of everything. It was only about 8 weeks from the Sun Solar team getting my signatures to us receiving the permission to operate from PGE for my solar system. During those summer months in between meeting Jordan for the first time and signing the agreement, I looked into several other solar companies here in Bakersfield. I spoke with about five different companies and not one was able to beat the price point for the size of system I had installed. At this point in time, I would sign up for solar panels again with Sun Solar. read more

I have called a month ago, and I have called last week, my true up bill was $4500. and I pay a monthly $822 for solar. Not even worth it to me anymore. They have not been out to see what's wrong, Our panels are cleaned and we do keep up on them, they said a couple panels are not working, and they can see that in their system. So they are aware of the problem. If I had an answer to why and if they would contact me and do what they said they were going to do. I probably would not leave a bad review. Really a bummer when it was $3,000 true up in August, when I called the first time, and it went up $1500 in a month. so yes there is a problem and I can't even get a call back to come look. It would be cheaper for me to just stay with PG&E and not even have solar. read more

Sun Solar - Solar Installation Near Me - Bakersfield, California

ETA: I am in Bakersfield We've had service with Sun Solar for several years and things seemed to be fine. Last month we received a True Up bill from PG&E for almost $2000, which is well above anything we've received before. I contacted our sales rep (who has always been responsive). Long story short, our system hasn't been connected to monitoring for almost TWO YEARS. When I asked about monitoring through Sun Solar I was told we, as customers, are equally responsible for monitoring through the app, but Sun Solar will take care of issues once it has been disconnected for 48 hours....yet it's been nearly two years. The company, I was told, is based in the Philippines so their business hours are incompatible. Also, there is no way Sun Solar can monitor all their systems, they just have too many, and the sales people told us our system would be monitored when we signed the lease but, oops, that ended up not being true after all. When I asked about reimbursement if the system proves to be faulty she said we wouldn't be eligible since the system is performing as promised, but I'm not sure how she knows that when the monitoring system isn't functioning and hasn't been for nearly two years. Then I was told, over a week ago, that they were going to order a part without anyone ever coming to our home to check the system. Today the part has not been ordered because the one person that can order a part has been out of the office for a week? Maybe two weeks? He might have been sick or he might be on vacation, the story varies. I was then told that I, as the customer, am the only one that can "escalate" this with anyone above the local office, all she can do is send an email and loop in people - which is what she supposedly did last week. She also read the email to me and it said "the customer keeps calling". So there's that. After we ended our call, I called corporate and was told they aren't able to do anything more. She said her side of the notes don't show that a part has been ordered - they're still waiting for approval to order the part that they're not even certain is the problem since no one has come to look at the unit. When I asked for clarification I was given a lecture on 3G vs 4G/5G conversions and that my unit was 3G but now everything is 5G .... so I interrupted and asked to speak with a supervisor. I'm currently on hold to speak with a supervisor at corporate; it's been 23 minutes and 37 seconds. The rep told me there probably isn't anyone available who could speak with me and they won't be able to help me anyway, but I insisted. *Update: at 25 minutes, she came on and said no one is available and they should call me back in 1-2 business days. I first contacted our sales rep on May 30. Today is June 22 and exactly nothing has been done. We're locked into a lease so they're dutifully getting their money every month without doing a thing to hold up their end of the agreement, and we have no recourse. read more

We live in Visalia and had our panels installed in Nov. 2020. We were supposed to be up and running by Dec. 2020. Today is May 4, 2021 and we still don't have our system up and running. Our house was Built in 1940 and we have an older electrical panel. We were told that the panel would be replaced and included in the price. Chris ordered and was our contact for Sun Solar stopped communicating with us, our emails and calls were not replied to. We've been getting the runaround with the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing and saying Edison or the city inspector is the hold up. Finally in April we had a city inspector come to inspect the system and Jose a technician, was surprised that we weren't up yet. Jose talked to my husband Doug and he said he remembers the conversation of them replacing the panel in the cost. No one knew where the paperwork was and they left with nothing being done. Last month we started getting emails and mail trying to get us to sign off on the work and to approve 80% of the funding. We haven't signed off to release the funds because our system isn't working. Now Sun Solar rep Devin, is saying that the panel was not included in the contract when we have emails, conversations saying the contrary. Sun Solar is now not willing to stand by their commitment to replace our electrical panel and not charge us for it. They are coming up with invalid excuses as to why they won't change the panel. One excuse was that the power lines go through a tree. Our power line to the house is a straight shot unobstructed by trees or anything else. We had the panels on our house for 5 months now and we still are not receiving solar power. read more

Corporate sales office refused to give any quote for an installed 10.5kW (annual) system (approximately 20-25 panels) . Cash purchase (no lease). Uninterested in installing a non-leased system: "that's not how we do business". Would not discuss details of the type of panel or inverters they would use. Wanted monocrystalline panels with microinverters (enphase, etc) but they refused to discuss. Wanted sales to push for a leased/partial payment system. Plenty of other competitors for solar panels. Several have provided itemized free quotes. read more

They installed their solar panels without updating electrical panel. I've had nothing but problems since. Thousands of dollars for electricians to keep my power on. When I complained to Sun Solar, they sent out their personal electrician who reported my pre-existing panel was well within specifications. I don't know why the city inspector felt it was OK at the time of installation, but 4 out of 5 electricians agreed that the solar company should have replaced the panel. I've already specified who the 5th electrician worked for. Additionally, I'm now paying more for utilities than I did before getting Solar. read more

Yes, this company provides local contractors and vendors but after installation you no longer have those eager local vendors or contractors to speak with you are now forced to communicate with representatives in the Philippines for all your solar panels concerns, maintenance issues and maintenance requests. Not too sure why Sun Solar has gotten ANY bad reviews on Yelp! I contacted Sun Solar a couple months ago, knowing I only wanted to BUY a system. Luckily I had been clued into the problems with leasing after I did some intense research (which took about 5 minutes online). I knew after that I did not want a lease. So, I gave my information to Sun Solar (because they need that information to contact you) and I was promptly contacted by Salesman, Armando. I just gave him my PG&E info and he worked up several options for buying a system, which included the 2.99%, $0 down financing. A salesman never came to my house either, so easy! I chose the low interest financing (which was lower than my credit union rate) and the process was started. Fast forward 2 1/2 months, I have solar and we are already producing more power than we are using! Nothing was a surprise, I was explained everything! The price given to me in the very beginning was the same price I ended up with. I have also noticed other homes with solar that have ugly conduit running all over the roof and the solar panels have ugly silver brackets. My solar system is so clean looking. No conduit, no wires, and black solar panels and frames. Fantastic service by phone or email too. About 3 years ago I contacted another company that was aggressively pushing solar leases...I READ THE CONTRACT and decided I did not want to worry about someone else assuming the lease or other issues if we went to sell our house. So I think people who complain about things they did not research prior to committing should have been a little more diligent with their investments. Our experience with this company was phenomenal! I am struggling with the lack of customer serivice. I called yesterday and reported that the inverter that was just replaced, is now showing the same error as the unit was replacing. I reached out to Jonathan, he says that he will call me back that same day. I do not get a call back, so I have to call (430pm) before they close up shop only to find that Jonathan had left for the day. I get a call this morning. He says that he can walk me through resetting the inverter, I said great! I will be in front of my unit at 445pm. He asks me to email a picture of the error, to an email that isn't his email (to colin). After 2 emails I get a reply back from Colin saying that he is trying to get a hold of their electrician, so that he schedule a visit. Can we guess who wasn't in the office when I called today at 445pm...... Not pleased. Now I am stuck wondering if it will be another 2 weeks with out a functioning solar system. Just an FYI for all Customer Service is very important to me. I worked in that field for a long time and I know what good customer service is. Sun Power nor Sun Solar have made me believe that they value customer service. read more

AfterI requested a quote, Andrew text me right away & we scheduled a date for a consult. He contacted me that day & said because I lived in a condo he couldn't find anyone to finance us. My neighbor has solar & I already had another quote w/ No problem from another company. When I had a few other questions I felt like he was making excuses to not keep the appt. If I could go lower on the rating I would!! I wish I could go back 6 years and NOT get solar through these guys. We were promised and sold lies and our system has never produced the amount of energy they told us it would. From day one our system has under produced, thus causing us to actually pay more on a monthly average than we did before we had solar. They came out a couple times in the beginning and said there was nothing wrong with the system and we just must be "unlucky" and got lower graded panels.. but never fixed anything. Our true-up bill each year keeps going higher and higher and we aren't running our AC units on anything crazy (between 78-80!!). When they came out they sized our units for our house and what our current usage was at the time (which we had a full time nanny at the house watching our baby.. so it was actually higher than it is now) and we even added two extra panels then what they recommended just so we'd have some cushion there... I wish I could get out of this lease and have them take these back. BIGGEST mistake we could have made! read more
