I've had my solar for 10 months, I have been very satisfied with having them. Started having problems with some of the panels not producing completely. Called Sun Solar spoke to Brittany , she was very helpful in problem solving first before sending out a technician. Brittany was very helpful and friendly. Technician came out was very informative, very professional. Problem was resolved. My electricity bill had been very high during the summer months in the past and this year it has really significantly gone down. I would recommend Sun Solar for any Solar needs. read more

This is a company that supposedly took over the contracted companies clients. I was with the previous company that they took over Golden State power or peak power. They had the same license number. But apparently this company is not affiliated with them at all, and so they can't uphold any of the warranty that they stated on the contract. The President (Scott) or the Ops Manager won't return calls. **Business Knowledge - Very Questionable. Many Mistakes made. I am very disappointed in Sun Solar. I wanted to give a good review. I held back in writing this review as I wanted to believe in them to correct the issues. Now, with many attempts made to get a solution in repairing my home and to get my panels up and running with unanswered calls and texts over the past 2 months, I feel this review is warranted. I have been trying to get my solar system completed since 2024!! 2024 - 1st Representative offered Telsa Batteries and pricing. Signed Contract, but representative could not be reached as of 10/2024. It took several months to find someone to assist us. 2025 - 2nd Representative contacted us and picked-up where the 1st Representative left-off and said they can only provide us Solar Edge panels. Sun Solar Installed Panels & Battery 8/2025. The installed battery failed LA County inspection and had to be re-positioned. The Battery was 3' too high. Sun Solar re-positioned battery and left stucco a mess! (see photos). Also, there was poor workmanship in installing the pipe, as a pipe was seen from front of house and looked horrible. The inspection passed after re-positioning the battery, but now no contact with me. I have been contacting Sun Solar to repair the stucco and now they won't return my calls or texts. Scott Ryan is unresponsive to my calls and will not follow-through with the customer. After the length of time to get panels installed (since 2024), he doesn't return my calls to finalize repairing the damage his company did to my home?.... Wow. What does this tell you? I held off since 2024 in writing this review. There's so much I have left out of this review to avoid being so long, but trust me, there's more and lots of problems. As of today 10/23/25, my house is left unrepaired and still haven't received a call from the President of Sun Solar, Scott Ryan. I had sun power come out and install panels in early 2024 and when the company went bankrupt sun solar took over for them. I have had nothing but issues with this company from install to actually getting the system running and turned on in January 2025. I was originally supposed to have my battery in my garage and they told me they were on back order and they had no idea when they were going to come in. So they offered me a backup battery to go outside. After I got off work and saw the work that was done I was super frustrated and disappointed with how crappy it looked. Then the salesman who sold me the solar calls me the next day and tells me the Tesla battery has come in and that he's sure I don't like what was done in my backyard and offered to have the battery back in the garage like the original plan was supposed to be and that they would patch and paint the stucco outside, I agreed to that being done. This still has yet to be fixed. Also when Fresno finally got heavy rain in September 2025 I noticed water damage in my hall bathroom. I wasn't sure what it was so I called out my insurance thinking it was something behind my wall and my responsibility, when my insurance wasn't too sure what it was they had a leak detection company come out and verify and determined it was my mastic roof jack pipe the sealant had a crack in it due to weather damage. While getting up on the roof and trying to close up the crack I noticed one of their panels was right up against the mastic. It was pressed so hard against it that I couldn't even slide a piece of paper between the solar panel and vent pipe. I tried my best to close up the crack and thought I probably stopped it. In October it rained for a week straight and the water just kept coming in. When their foreman was able to come out and take a look at it I got on the roof with him and he asked what was going on I showed him and explained that they put the solar panel directly up against the mastic pipe which acted as a funnel and when straight down my pipe and caused the damage on my wall. He said "oh yeah I see that it's touching, so what do you want to do about it" I asked him if it could be moved or slid up, he said yeah no problem and then started to slide the panel up. I asked him if he needed to go into the bathroom or the attic to test or take pictures he told me no. Then while trying to follow up with the damage claim department and basically speak to anyone in charge it took Samantha weeks to get a response back to me so I tried getting in contact with Samantha for over a month and their response was no they're not going to take responsibility for the damage to the wall or the damage to the roof that was caused, I asked them how did they come to that conclusion without doing any testing whatsoever and they told me because of the stuff I put on the pipe to try and stop the leak. I have photos of the pipe without the mastic tape from my insurance when they originally came out back in September and you can see the crack mastic pipe with the solar panel on it. This company has photos of it too. I would not recommend this company to anyone the customer service is absolutely horrible. You're honestly lucky to even get an email back let alone a phone call that they say they'll have a manager call you back. This is an edited version of my honest review update that was removed by Yelp that has been edited to remove what Yelp said is not acceptable in my previous review update. In the beginning it was all good! Nice performance over 100% of my needs no electric bill Yay! Then after a few years repairs were made yeah that's when they actually cared about their customers. If you read my previous review then you know my issues before was in extremely high true ups due to my system not performing as promised. My contract stated my system would produce 103% of my needed power. Well the same issue still exists except it's even worse now so i went from a true up of $700-900 after the first 2 years those first 2 years ZERO true up to this year as it's progressing it'll be in the $2000-3000 or more range. Did they address my issues from before NO in fact they kept sending emails saying "good news your system is producing 96% after 6 years better than we projected!" Ummm say what? No you promised me 103% No one was ever sent out to my house as promised in the last 2 years NO ONE! Even after multiple emails and calls. Just come and deal with my issues you have my address. But Wait!! There's even more to this lovely story!! So for the last oh idk 8 months the separate breaker for my solar system that they installed on my house has been tripping daily shutting down my entire system! And idk when it happens because the notifications don't come right away sometimes they take days. Calls have been made to them and many emails begging for service relating to my address as my true up is climbing uncontrollably! They withdraw money from my account every month for my system that doesn't work properly and send me emails saying "your system is working as it should" when in reality it isn't. Maybe I need to post pics of the withdrawals from my account to prove everything. Really though? A system that is shutting down every day due to a faulty breaker tripping you installed? And not running for days until i find out the breaker has tripped. That's running as it should? They said this last time after numerous emails and calls to them oh we have a long list and no one to make repairs at this time. My question is "So for the last 2 years of complaining and asking for service and help you've had ZERO employees to perform repairs?". Well maybe start making good for your customers that have had their systems for some time that are currently paying for them and start taking care of us. It's so sad because in the beginning i was so happy with my system then it's just went downhill and the lack of customer care is unbelievable! My only advice is do your research, read reviews the honest ones before making any decisions. I hate having to write this i just can't believe how this company has disappointed me so much :( They responded to this review before it was removed by Yelp and they will get called again and another email will be written and we will see if the proper repairs will finally be made this time. read more

I am 72-year-old retiree who was totally against solar. In 2024, PGE sent me an electric bill for 1,000 dollars in July. I was very upset. I contacted Sun Solar and their sales representative; Jordan came to my residence and completed a full evaluation of my electricity. I entered into a solar lease with SunPower in November and it's been great since. The panels were installed a few days after we made an agreement. I got a good rate on everything and they were really good in going over all the details with me and helping me build the system I wanted which was going to produce more than my usage per my wishes. I built up a good amount of credits in the spring and I haven't had a PGE bill since installing the solar. I still have a few hundred dollars in credits I'm running off so those credits are paying my summer bill and not costing me anything. Been very happy with the system and with the SunPower staff who made sure all my questions and concerns were addressed up front. Haven't had any problems with the system yet, overall very happy and I'd recommend SunPower to anyone looking to go Solar. read more

I recently purchased a home with a leased solar system that I assumed the remainder of the lease. I have called the leasing company numerous times to ask questions with very little success. I contacted Sun Solar who is the service contractor for the leasing company. They were great in explaining the solar system process, and dealing with Brittany has been a pleasure. They told me that the diagnosis of a bad panel would be passed along to the representative who has been helping us with this problem, so far. Having issues with my SP system on top of never getting a referral check from them after numerous calls to their "accounting department." I know that the sales team is out for just themselves and will say whatever to get you into a contract and off the phone. Some of them do not even have valid licenses! Worst mistake ever. My solar wasn't working for 2 1/2 months earlier this year. It was right at the best time to help with your true up bill (March-May). My true up bill went up to $1,880, after SunPower came out and finally fixed my electrical problem they offered me $339 to help with my $1,880 true up bill, what a complete joke!! Don't waste your time with this company, they don't back up what the say. I feel like this is breach of contract on their end because I'm leasing the panels and they are supposed to maintain them. We are in the process of having our solar out in. The installers are great! The rest of the team, not so much. We have called, emailed, texted NUMEROUS times and then hear that someone will contact us--they don't. It is getting to the point that our tax credit may be compromised. We also will have to talk to the loan company, because have not received equipment, but have a loan. I am done being patient. We started this process in August. The departments don't know/care what the other people are doing. They are super unprofessional. They call you, until they sale is complete. I have tried and tried to work with them. An update: Every step I have taken to contact somebody that can help me with my transfer of lease concerns has been met with resistance. The email chain that a nameless individual from their Home Sale team is a confusing mess that I mistook for spam email from the beginning. This Home Sale team claims to not know anybody from Sun Power and when I do attempt to email them from the handle provided in the email I formation, I receive an automated response that the inbox is no longer actively monitored. After a year with this company I would love nothing more than to be able to cancel my lease with them. My True Up payment is probably twice what it would be with a company who knew what they were doing. We have had months and months without any power being produced, I send emails, call and leave messages, and reach out on social media to no avail. This is absolutely insane. Where do I start?? 80k in debt to solar on a 1800sqft house and STILL owe PGE every year!--*UPDATED* We purchased 36 of the highest output panels available, plus 2 of the latest greatest (better than "Tesla" they said) battery storage units, in November of 2020, which are 13kw each. We were told that we would not have a true-up bill, since we would be making more than we were using in energy. The batteries were more than enough to take care of all our needs. My husband was monitoring our system and realized something was not right. We contacted Sun-Solar, and they said everything was fine on their end. My husband had to put graphs together and all the information to show what was going on. My husband looks at graphs and charts all day, so he knows what he is looking at. We had to schedule an in-house meeting with 6 people to show them what was going on. With evidence in hand, they agreed, something was not right. Scott the owner and a specialist, with a few others came to our house to see that they had only installed ONE battery. To their credit at that time, they were all very apologetic and wanted to make things right. They installed the second battery. Things appeared to be working ok for a little bit, however, at the end of the year we received a true-up bill of $1200, which does not include the $450 a month we pay for the loan on the system. So, we paid more than we would have without solar. Things have never worked quite right, we stopped monitoring the app, because we didn't have the time to sit and check it every day. That was to our detriment! In 2022 we received a true-up of $1800!! According to Denise in customer service, who we spoke to on 4-15-2023, it is the customer's responsibility to make sure their system is working properly. We are not experts in solar, shouldn't they be informing us? She also told us that if the batteries were not set correctly that was also on our end and not theirs. However, the app specifically states, "that we can only use 20% of our batteries." We wonder, how would this work if we bought an electric car and found out that while we have a battery storing 100%, we can only use 20% at any given time?? Who would buy that car? She also informed us that while she was not able to see our battery system half of our inverters were out for up to 6 days, multiple times and somehow, we were supposed to know that?? We were also informed that there were no records of our system or any notes in our file regarding our issues for the last 2.5 years! What kind of business is this? Who can honestly call this a winning business model? We are SO very disappointed in the service. We would NEVER recommend this company to anyone we know or like. So far, we think the whole solar thing is a scam. *UPDATE* After talking with the techs, Denise was able to see that in fact we were correct and our system was not working properly, she became much more helpful. We were also in direct contact with the owner Scott, who did work very hard to try and resolve the situation. He was genuine in his concern. He was able to monitor our system and adjust the settings, that were needed for our system to work properly. Our suggestion is; do not purchase the batteries unless you can monitor your equipment on a regular basis to ensure it is working properly, but if you can then they are nice to have in the event of a power outage. read more
