I had Tesla panels installed back when it was still Solarcity. I had two panels installed eight years ago. I've had nothing but trouble with the Solarcity and inverter that they've installed originally. They have now come to my home for sick service calls to try and fix this thing in the last 18 months. It doesn't work, it doesn't communicate with the online system to be able to monitor the system and now it appears as though it is not generating power at all. Six times they've been here and all six times they have failed and it just continues to take time to get them out here. They've replaced every component inside the inverter and now I've told them to replace the inverter with something state of the Art and current. They continue to just want to try and replace components. It's literally impossible to speak with anyone and everything is done online without a human in the loop. I absolutely hate Tesla. I have Tesla solar panels on my house. That experience was literally the worst. To say that PG&E was more helpful, well that's a shame. Then fast forward to 2023, I decide it's time to replace my car. I go to Tesla and ask a TON of questions, then I make the purchase. First, the purchase experience was easy, then a couple of service appointments later, well it's hell. Literally, the WORST! How about this for bad? My performance car had larger tires on the back, I go in to get a rotation and they put the larger tires on the front, yep! Once more for the people in the back, the larger tires are on the FRONT! It's clearly marked on the inside of the door, and it's a car, your service center is the manufacturer! And you can't read and you don't know the product. I had a rattle in the door, they gas light me and act like it's not happening. More than 5 appointments later... it's finally fixed. But when I ask them point blank, are you putting all new clips in the door when you put it back together? They say "No, only if they break." Just do it right the first time. I mean honestly I took this car in around 11 times in the 18 months I owned it. I had gas cars that I serviced less and had less issues with. Finally, they don't call you back and they just don't fix ANYTHING! No matter what or how you try to get the service, or how much you pay, they don't fix things. Do yourself a favor and get a different car from a different manufacturer. You'll have less headaches. Oh and maybe the other dealership will actually give you a ride to work, instead of acting like a luxury car payment is worth you paying for a cab or hitching a ride with friends. If you own a Tesla, take it somewhere else for service. While I loved my car, she was the best, so much fun, and I wish I could have stayed with her. But it turns out her family is just unbearable. So we broke up and now I found someone else and I couldn't be happier. read more

This is the address I take my Model S Plaid for service as it's the only local rep. My car is pristine without a scratch anywhere when I take it in for 2 new rear tires and an alignment. This happened during our crazy storm season on Jan 24th 2022. I mention this because when I drop the car off they sign me in and come outside to inspect the car for dings or dents and with good reason as this Plaid costs $140,000. No damage noticed or noted because the car is or was perfect. When I picked the car up it was a massive rain downpour and cold. I made the huge mistake of not doing the same walk around and missed the damage they did to both back rims. I parked the car in the garage where it always stays and never drove it again for two weeks when I took it to dinner. I noticed some issues inside the car so I set up a service to fix the map. I saw the car in the sun and this would be the first time I noticed the damage some 2 weeks later. They denied it and literally blamed me. Even inspected both front rims in front of me looking for the smallest damage to find them in brand new condition as well as every other part of this immaculate car. Yet somehow the only thing damaged is two $2500 each rims on the whole car and that's what they worked on. SO, I say look at the miles on the car. Just enough from the time it left here to go home to dinner once then back here. Yet I damaged the car in the only two places where you worked but no where else any sign of any damage at all. SO then I said I want to see and speak to the actual service rep who did the work. DENIED. So. Then I asked I want to see this work re performed exactly in front of me so I can see for myself the process. DENIED. Then they stopped replying and said pick up your car or storage fees start now! Yes my bad for not inspecting the car in the storm. Being trusting that the dealership would be honest. But this is disappointing, disgusting, and simply bad business to deny the obvious fact they damaged this car. There is no doubt. GOD knows I know and believe me if you saw the pics and the way they acted. You'd know too. If I could give a zero I would. Not the car but the way they straight lie, and were unwilling to let me speak to the actual person removing the tires, and denied me seeing a repeat of the process. I also have compelling evidence that they took the tires off a second time and did damage that wasn't there from the previous removal. Further making me desperate to dee this process. Now I'm certain that they have someone who can perform this today weeks later. But maybe not. Let's see. But they refuse. read more

Originally went through Solar City, then Tesla bought them out, have had nothing but issues with them since, my system stopped working in May, I received 1 email, which said I needed to troubleshoot the problem, I sent them the code, and when I finally spoke to a person, I basically told him "aren't you people supposed to monitor my system?" And he said they do, I told him if they're monitoring it couldn't they see the code without me having to troubleshoot it, he pretty much said yes so if that was the case they should've contacted me by phone, not just 1 email. . So bad inverter, service order put in and it's been a couple of months, had an appointment scheduled for yesterday for awhile now, then I get another email saying to schedule service which won't be until October, so basically we've been running my PG&E since May, true-up still going up read more

Let me start by saying i absolutely love this car, the issue is with the service center. I have a less than 2 year old model 3 that rattles from the dash and a few other areas. They made one attempt to fix the rattle and actually did improve it somewhat but when i brought to their attention that it's still happening they said it's not a warrantable part so it's my responsibility. A $45k car sounds like it has a box of rocks in the dashboard and they just throw their hands up and say too bad. I'm so disappointed with tesla service that although we were looking at buying a new model Y we will now be looking elsewhere. We had our Tesla Solar panels installed last year and fired up in July 2018. We were very impressed with Solar City's professionalism and speed in the installation. We received our first true up and it was a lot lower than estimated At $122. Three Weeks ago, our system stopped working. That means no production. They did an online test and told us it was a hardware problem. They said they would have to order parts and that it would take 3 weeks to get a repairman out to fix it. We asked them about how they might compensate our lack of production for the past 3 weeks. We were told that IF our production was lower than promised, that they would only then compensate us. So, the repairman showed up today, checked the system and told us a part would have to be ordered and that it would take 2 more weeks to get it. He said the system notes read that no part was ordered 3 weeks ago, as told to us when we called. So, now 2 more weeks with NO PRODUCTiON during the sunniest and HOTTEST month in the year! We are NOT at all pleased with this. The only reason I gave them two stars in this review is because their installation was so professional but maybe they don't deserve that. read more

I had my panels installed in July 2016. I waited a year to write a review because I want to see how it went. I am happy to say that the whole process was pretty great. My rep TJ walk me through the different options solar city provided. I Picked the best option for me they were installed a short time later. The longest part was waiting for PG&E to do their sign off. I just had my one year PG&E true up and got a check back for $30. I have called customer service a few times and they have always been Courteous and quick to respond to the issue I called about. I have recommended this company to my friends and family. read more

We just moved here from the Bay Area and moved into our house at the end of July. We always been a fan of solar and our first PG &E bill really sped the process forward. The first place we contacted was Solar City. The sales rep came out to the house and was quite pleasant but not very knowledgeable about tier pricing, etc. She was not very well prepped for the meeting but we went ahead with the consult. Lots of questions popped up and the answers (when I did get one) were troubling at best. The site surveyor came out and we were still moving ahead. Simple questions were not answered to any degree of satisfaction and something just didn't feel right. They assigned a "concierge" to the project which we never heard from until I had a question even she couldn't answer. The site surveyor had to come out a second time, which was fine, but there was confusion in communication between the "design team" and him as to what he needed to do. Also, I discovered he'd damaged the panel door to the point where we could no longer lock it even though anyone can walk up to it from the alley. The worst part came when we got a email from them saying that they would need to reroof about 1/2 of our house. There was no real explanation in the email, just a picture of some digital read out on an unfamiliar device and a sketch of nearly 1/2 our roof needing to be reroofed. When I called for an explanation, I was on hold for 15 min. They came back and said the tile would not support solar panels and that from what they could tell the tile was installed on top of a wood shake roof (how they can tell that from photos I have no idea). I told them the project needed to be put on hold because re-roofing 1/2 of our house was not a project I would ok without speaking with an actual roofer. We called the company that roofed the house (BSW here in Bakersfield), who, by the way, had repaired a few tiles during our escrow inspections. They showed us the paperwork showing the roof was completely new (no wood shake roof under that) and that the tiles would support solar panels if mounted with different hardware. They also install solar systems so we had them come out for a consult. The sales rep from BSW was very well informed and came completely prepared with a package of information and would ask/answer questions before we had to!!! Evidently, Solar City makes decisions about peoples homes with no explanation and no real roofer coming out to make an assessment. They make decisions that would cost the homeowner thousands of dollars based on photographs and through a mystery "design team" in Fremont somewhere that you are not allowed to speak with. That re-roofing project would cost an additional $5600 (even tho they would pay $2500 of it) and I could only imagine the problems what would have arisen. Also, Solar City, wanted to put panels on the east side of the house, saying that it was the second best place to produce power (south being first). This went against my instinct and when BSW came out for their consult, they suggested the south and west part of the house. When I asked them why Solar City would suggest the east, they explained it would produce a higher return for Solar City in the first 5 years due to depreciation and lower energy production. At the end of the story, the customer service was HORRIBLE with Solar City. The mystery "design team" made decisions about what they wanted to do to our roof without ever sending a roofer out, and they lied/made up reasons about why they needed to reroof in the first place. Not to mention the damaged panel door cover and no follow through with any communications they said they would have. Needless to say, we've signed a contract with BSW for solar install and I feel very at ease. It just felt right and they were honest and upfront. I would NOT EVER recommend Solar City to anyone. As of tomorrow morning, the project with Solar City is canceled and I'm still in disbelieve that they could run a business like that. Elon Musk is a great scientist and engineer but he is not a good businessman. It shows with how his companies treats their prospective customers. I entered into a 20 yr lease with solar city 2 1/2 years ago based on figures quoted to me by their sales representative. I fully trusted those quotes because of name recognition of their brand. It was one of the worst mistakes I have made in recent times. Not only was I deceived and now not only do I have monthly installments to them for next 17 1/2 years but t now have what is known as a " true-up" bill to my energy company of over 1k a year because the solar city/Tesla system actually does not produce enough energy to cover my wife and I consumption. When I presented this to them so that perhaps a correction could be made they simply stated that the system has been installed and I am to simply live with it. If there was a negative star rating no company would deserve it more than solar city/ Tesla. This is a warning to the public read more

I have been a SolarCity customer for just over a year now, and received my PG&E true-up bill for the year last month, and it was only $94.00 for the entire year! I was able to turn my AC down from 76 to 72 degrees throughout the entire, ridiculously hot summer of Bakersfield, and only owed PG&E a tiny bit of money, but just had 6 more panels installed so that I can be 110% solar efficient! If I had done this with PG&E only, my bill would have been over $400 every month this summer. SolarCity was completely professional throughout the entire process, from my initial consultation, to signing up, to getting the system installed and turned on. It only took about 1.5 months to get installed, and another month to turn it on while waiting for PG&E. I don't know why everyone who owns their home doesn't do this. Don't believe the propaganda from these shady solar companies on the radio....SolarCity is the best and offers way cheaper power than the utility, and I don't have to worry about fixing the system myself if it breaks, or plugging any leaks in the roof....SolarCity covers everything at no cost to the customer for 20 years! When we listed our house to sell, the buyer's home inspector found a 4" hole in our roof that had been left by SolarCity when they installed our new electrical panel - one year prior. For an entire YEAR, we had a large hole in our roof - directly above an electrical panel. Had it rained, it could've shorted out our panel or started a fire. For once, we were happy it does not rain in Bakersfield! We tried reaching the manager of the Bakersfield office, however he refused to return our calls when we asked for him to speak with us. We called every day for three days and he refused to take our call, call us back or answer questions. The only good thing were the workers who fixed the hole. They were efficient and kind. To add injury to insult, they tried to take money AFTER escrow closed and when they could not access our account, sent us a bill for the month following our close. I had to argue that their business was now with the new owners - the escrow is closed, we paid our last month's service and we are no longer doing business with them. Good thing I had the foresight to stop all payments to them through our bank. read more
