Ask for Bobby Blackmon! I spent over a year and a half researching Solar System options. Everyone claiming that they had the best program and pricing. Seven companies later I finally found a local, reliable and reasonably priced company that could help me escape the ever rising high costs of Pacific Gas and Electric. Thank you Bobby Blackmon-Sun Solar, for providing excellent service and taking the time to insure that my installation process was done in a timely manner and worry free. read more

Many glitches due to mountainous terrain, home owners association and SCE. Staff navigated all, kept me informed. Crew was very polite and professional. read more

This is the best solar company. Mahlon was my representative for the company. We had a difficult layout for my house, and he babysat it every step of the way. The installation crew was phenomenal and were very clean and on time every day. I have been so happy with my system. I have had it for two years now. What a blessing not to have to pay all that utility bill. Thank you very much Mahlon Davis. read more

Andrew McCormack is our representative, great job McCormack!!! We researched various solar companies, prior to settling on this company. All questions were answered in a timely manner. Everyone involved in this process from the secretarial staff, to the installers, were very professional. When the installers left, their work area was just as it was when they arrived. I defiinitly would reccomend this company. read more

Locally owned company that takes care of their customers, employees and community. Highly recommend! Great team the have built!

Amazing customer service and very professional! Definitely referring my family and friends here!

Their customer service is superb and they really make the whole process so easy. Honestly the best company hands down!!

Andrew explained the process and timeline. He was honest and knowledgeable about the panels, the system and price. No surprises. Communication was through text, phone calls and emails. I can call Andrew if I have any questions or concerns. He is prompt to return my calls. The office is professional and also prompt to return calls. I recommend this business to anyone thinking of going solar. read more

I would not recommend this company to any of my family or friends. Yes, this company provides local contractors and vendors but after installation you no longer have those eager local vendors or contractors to speak with you are now forced to communicate with representatives in the Philippines for all your solar panels concerns, maintenance issues and maintenance requests. Took us 6-8 months to get a technician out to our home, because of poor customer service response. read more

We researched all of the Solar providers & then interviewed several friends who used SunPower by Sun Solar. Our good friends recommended Bobby Blackmon & boy are we glad they did. Our experience with Bobby & the entire SunPower was nothing but 5-Stars. Their quality of product & installation was only surpassed by the customer service & communication from the SunPower by Sun Solar team. We would highly recommend using SunPower by Sun Solar. BTW--We are already seeing significant savings after only 2 months. read more

I had three Solar companies to my home and SunPower by Sun Solar was by far the best. Not only was their representative, Andrew McCormack, very nice and personable, he also knew the product and the every other facet of solar like the back of his hand. I chose SunPower by Sun Solar because they offered a superior product, the best pricing, and incredible customer services. I would recommend anyone who is looking into getting solar give Andrew McCormack a call. He will be able to explain all of the benefits of their product and help guide you through the process with a smile. I contacted him after our first meeting with many questions and he was always prompt in his response. He even helped us with an issue with PG&E after our solar was installed. read more

Not too sure why Sun Solar has gotten ANY bad reviews on Yelp! I contacted Sun Solar a couple months ago, knowing I only wanted to BUY a system. Luckily I had been clued into the problems with leasing after I did some intense research (which took about 5 minutes online). I knew after that I did not want a lease. So, I gave my information to Sun Solar (because they need that information to contact you) and I was promptly contacted by Salesman, Armando. I just gave him my PG&E info and he worked up several options for buying a system, which included the 2.99%, $0 down financing. A salesman never came to my house either, so easy! I chose the low interest financing (which was lower than my credit union rate) and the process was started. Fast forward 2 1/2 months, I have solar and we are already producing more power than we are using! Nothing was a surprise, I was explained everything! The price given to me in the very beginning was the same price I ended up with. I have also noticed other homes with solar that have ugly conduit running all over the roof and the solar panels have ugly silver brackets. My solar system is so clean looking. No conduit, no wires, and black solar panels and frames. Fantastic service by phone or email too. About 3 years ago I contacted another company that was aggressively pushing solar leases...I READ THE CONTRACT and decided I did not want to worry about someone else assuming the lease or other issues if we went to sell our house. So I think people who complain about things they did not research prior to committing should have been a little more diligent with their investments. Our experience with this company was phenomenal! If anyone asks about our solar I tell them how wonderful Sun Solar was and I will continue to refer people to them! THANK YOU!!!! read more

Today marks two years with our solar system so I thought I would express to the SunPower by Sun Solar team, and especially our salesman Jordan Little, how completely satisfied we are with the decision to go with them. Our system is making more power than we expected, and I cannot say enough about the super clean installation. Perfection! Two years of ZERO dollars going to the big electric company (you know the one) and we just laugh now when we see their rates going up and up. One of the best decisions we have made for our finances and future. Jordan (661-428-2947) was great. He always gave us accurate answers to all my questions, and I had a lot of questions. Thanks again everyone for a job done well. read more

I have had the solar system from Sunpower by Sun Solar for a year now and got my NEM true up. Wooohooo! Just over $50. What a great surprise. The system works very well and they have been extremely helpful with the monitoring app which had a few hiccups. James Pak is the best! Very supportive and responds immediately. Highly recommend this company. Installation was flawless. read more

I am struggling with the lack of customer serivice. I called yesterday and reported that the inverter that was just replaced, is now showing the same error as the unit was replacing. I reached out to Jonathan, he says that he will call me back that same day. I do not get a call back, so I have to call (430pm) before they close up shop only to find that Jonathan had left for the day. I get a call this morning. He says that he can walk me through resetting the inverter, I said great! I will be in front of my unit at 445pm. He asks me to email a picture of the error, to an email that isn't his email (to colin). After 2 emails I get a reply back from Colin saying that he is trying to get a hold of their electrician, so that he schedule a visit. Can we guess who wasn't in the office when I called today at 445pm...... Not pleased. Now I am stuck wondering if it will be another 2 weeks with out a functioning solar system. Just an FYI for all Customer Service is very important to me. I worked in that field for a long time and I know what good customer service is. Sun Power nor Sun Solar have made me believe that they value customer service. read more

AfterI requested a quote, Andrew text me right away & we scheduled a date for a consult. He contacted me that day & said because I lived in a condo he couldn't find anyone to finance us. My neighbor has solar & I already had another quote w/ No problem from another company. When I had a few other questions I felt like he was making excuses to not keep the appt. (W/in 30 min of our appt! Also All through text!) the next day I called for a manager to see if there was something else the other guy missed... I left a message for the manager Chad twice! He Never called me back either! I'm Very disappointed in their customer service! read more

If I could go lower on the rating I would!! I wish I could go back 6 years and NOT get solar through these guys. We were promised and sold lies and our system has never produced the amount of energy they told us it would. From day one our system has under produced, thus causing us to actually pay more on a monthly average than we did before we had solar. They came out a couple times in the beginning and said there was nothing wrong with the system and we just must be "unlucky" and got lower graded panels.. but never fixed anything. Our true-up bill each year keeps going higher and higher and we aren't running our AC units on anything crazy (between 78-80!!). When they came out they sized our units for our house and what our current usage was at the time (which we had a full time nanny at the house watching our baby.. so it was actually higher than it is now) and we even added two extra panels then what they recommended just so we'd have some cushion there... I wish I could get out of this lease and have them take these back. BIGGEST mistake we could have made! read more

By far the cleanest installation on my block. No exposed conduit on my roof or on the side of my house. The panels literally look like they are floating on my roof. The whole organization treated us with the utmost respect from the sales staff to the install crew I'd give them 10 stars if I could. Steve's crew was beyond professional and always looking out for my house and my family. Thanks guys! P.s. since my installation my solar system has produced more than double what I use. I'm saving thousands of dollars a year and can set my ac as low as I want! read more

it is sad when the owner could not give a damn about customer service. Had them provide 2 quotes for 2 systems. Our criteria was we wanted 10% minimum and preferred 110% utility offset. We received a quote and was told to sign the "contract" and qualify for credit all was done, We were later told the system we want was engineered wrong, The numbers on the contract are correct however in order to meet this amount they will have to add more panels and cost more money. I attempted to contact the owner who once said he would call me back never did then after at least 6 emails over several weeks we complained to the state. During that time I received an email from the owner who said he is out of town and will contact me when he gets back. I guess I'm not very important. Finally, get a phone call a week later. I was told the system was sized wrong and you would have to pay more, but beside thats, you complained about us. So we do not want to do business with you so go find someone else. It is funny according to my understanding we started a lease contract with numbers, and if the numbers are wrong that should fall on the company or person who designed it not at the penalty of the customer. He disagreed and said we are done working for you. We are currently looking at options to exercise both with the state and possibly in the legal field. Mistakes happen every day when the contractor will not step up and correct what makes you think they will fix an issue later after the system is installed. there is also integrity, as of now they do not have any and I'm happy to spread the word of poor service. I notice their TV commericals saying how great they and their system is however most people never really remember that. All the good stuff is forgotten however when the bad news comes out everyone remembers. Im currently still looking for a quality provider but after being told off by a very smug Scott Ryan and he didnt want my business, Im happy to spread the word buyer beware. read more

This was a great experience! Always thought the process of getting solar would be difficult. The local SunPower by Sun Solar company here in Bakersfield is the best. I am extremely open to reducing the carbon footprint and going green as often as economically possible so I was pretty excited after hearing the claims Sun Solar makes on the radio. I called and had a lot of questions to ask, but couldn't get anyone to answer unless I provided personal info like name, address, phone number etc. flag #1. After being bounced around and placed on eternal hold a salesperson came on and gave me the speel with a "lease" option. Huh? So, my savings are greatly reduced if non existent if I wish to own the product on my roof. If I lease, I not only have to find a qualified buyer for my home when I decide to sell in the next 20 years, I also need a buyer interested in assuming my solar obligation, as well as being qualified to do that. I wasn't "told" this but rather had to really dig hard to get a straight response from these guys. Just know what you're getting into and make sure it works for you, and don't forget to ask the right questions, because these guys will dance around them all day long in order to get you into a twenty year commitment. There are plenty of far more affordable options that will simply require a little researching, shopping and contracting and you will OWN your system and pay far less than you will to these guys. Sadly, as a side note, solar panels may cause as much damage to the environment during production (chemicals used and produced to make the panels) as they do in reducing the dependency on carbon based energy. So, the solar issue is really just an economics choice. read more

We had our system installed a year ago. When we got our end of year bill from PG&E we were very disappointed because the panels did not generate enough electricity and our bill was over $600. We took the bill to Sun Solar and they reimbursed us for most of the charges plus sent an engineer out to redesign our system. Today they came and moved some panels that were shaded by trees, added some panels and we are producing way more electricity already. All this done very professionally without any additional charges! Finally a company that stands behind its promises! Thanks Sun Solar read more

We finally decided to go ahead and bite the bullet to go solar. We contacted a few different companies and to get quotes and they ranged higher and lower than Sun Solar. I had a sales person I knew there named Bobby Blackmon that I contacted to have him do an analysis. He presented us with a few different options from lease to purchase. Explained the differences, and answered all my questions. The main things that sold me on the company was the brand of the panels and the installation procedures. Being a project manager in the construction field, I have real knowledge and an eye for details. I told them before installation that I did not want to see a wire or conduit on the outside of my house whatsoever. I received a call that they had a cancellation for installation and wanted to know if I could take it, I agreed. The next day I had three trucks with trailers and 25 guys at my house. One day done! It was A very clean install. With only 24 panels I am producing around 50 kW hours a day. Should've done it years ago. Bu bye PG&E! Good riddance to ya! read more

Great company with a solid crew of no pressure sales associates. Andrew helped me with any questions I had through every step of the process. I have to admit the panels are producing brilliantly but recently we decided to move and realized how horrible having a solar lease really is. We do not have the option to move our system in our contract so we have to have someone take over our lease. We excepted a offer right after we listed and everything was great until they read the solar contract. We even had our sells agent from Sun Solar contact the buyers and they still backed out. So we started contacting sun solar asking about options, we have none, we signed and we have to pay that's all they care about. We even offered to pay to have it moved and were turned down. Now we have lowered our house 17000 below our first offer, we had a total of 3 that didn't make it past the solar contract. If you plan on living in your house forever solar is great if you EVER think you will move stay very far away from Sun Solar. Update: just excepted a offer on our house. Lost $16,000.00 because I couldn't move the solar system. update 2: we had to contribute $3700 more to our buyers closing because once the solar payment was calculated into their debt to income ratio they no longer qualified for the loan on my house. Total loss to us from going solar as of now a whopping $19700. Update 3 We were scheduled to close by the 11th, then the 15th, then the 20th then the 22nd and now they need an extension all because trying to get the solar transferred through sun Power is next to impossible. So many hoops to jump through. From day one they have made the whole process a nightmare. read more

Very impressed! The first house I bought I didn't do any research and chose Solar City based on a recommendation from a coworker. After a couple years I ended up with a rat problem in the attic (due to new construction in the area) and they were getting through holes in the roof from the solar panels. Solar City absolutely refused to send anyone out to even look at the issue let alone fix it! So when I bought my new home I did a lot of research, and after numerous appointments I chose Sun Power by Sun Solar. I chose them because they were the only company I spoke with that offered a lease without a payment that increased every few years (I will have the same payment for 20 years, no inflation) and they used superior panels that produced more energy with less panels. This week I noticed a water stain on my bedroom ceiling. It was right under a panel, but also just below my AC unit. I chose to call the Solar first to see if they could find the problem. Sun Power offered to send a technician without any hassle. Stacey showed up on time, and went into the attic to locate the problem. It ended up being some space around a nail and a piece around the AC, so nothing to do with Solar, but Stacey sealed it up for me anyway. I went from a company who wouldn't even send a tech to asses a problem, to a company that fixed a problem that wasn't even theirs & I couldn't be happier. Thank you Sun Power! read more

Going through the purchase and installation process with SunPower by Sun Solar was for the most part a breeze. The staff was knowledgeable and professional. I feel confident in the product. I gave them 4 stars because they have not fulfilled their promises given to us in the initial sales presentation, yet. Still waiting for a pge reimbursement check. Also, the process was initially estimated to take 2 months. It took 4. We were waiting on pge approval for a good chunk of time. Once SunPower resubmitted a different way we were approved the same week. I blame SunPower and Pge equally for the delay. All in all it wasn't too painful a process. I wasn't expecting perfection. If you're going to get solar I would recommend the "Cadillac of solar" SunPower by Sun Solar. read more

I've had sunpower twice. Each time the installation was great. But this time the amount of time to upgrade their system so I can see my power usages on the app and computers is so poor and I regret going through them again. All I seem to get is we're working on it and it will be a few months. They had every chance to get ahead of the surge in business and fix their servers and still after three months the service is still waiting on data. I have nothing bad to say about the installation, workers very great and did a excellent job, but the technical side is a horrible and getting them to respond with a answer is poor. read more

I want to give a review from the very start of my relationship with Sunsolar, I have been dealing with Greyson who has been very professional and prompt on answering my questions and walking me thru a process that's very "New" to me and my family, my wife works for a Mortgage company here in town and said that when dealing with Sunsolar they helped re-write a contract to help the buyer get the home with out a big hassle and so far was the only one willing to help on that side of it. I will be signing a contract on Wednesday and hopefully be getting my solar started within a couple months after that. I will write another review letting everyone know how my experience was thru the install process as well as what my savings look like. 03-02-2016 Update Ok signed contracts and time starts now ready set go! I do want to point out that the solar panel company that makes the panels will email you, giving there thanks and says from time to time they will also step in and monitor the panels just like Sunsolar.. So far so good will keep posting good bad or ugly but have to say so far so good! Even if all solar companies are giving you the same quoted with in dollars that's what happened to me so I started researching the quality of the panels these guys have the best in our area. read more
