My wife and I tired of paying outrageous monthly power bills and decided to go with solar power. After asking close friends and doing extensive research about various local solar companies we agreed upon Sun Solar. We were extremely satisfied with the professionalism and integrity of the company representatives; including the sales, installation,and technical support staff. We leased as we thought it more prudent to have the company responsible for maintaining the good repair of the equipment. It was great paying a manageable monthly payment of $126. When we decided to sell our house we were concerned about the difficulty of passing on the solar lease to a new buyer. Our concerns were without merit. Not only was it easy to change over the lease ownership, but having a solar powered house with a 20 year fixed rate was quite the incentive to prospective buyers. I helped my parents purchase a solar system for their home in Bakersfield, Ca. I did some research and asked friends, family and neighbors who they had used for their systems. I got a lot of great feedback, and decided to contract with Sun Solar. They are a family owned, local business (which I always try to support) but most important, REPUTABLE. I met with owner Jeff Periera and discussed details including leasing vs. purchasing (they do both, another positive point) Their pricing was competitive and Jeff was very knowledgeable and straight forward, NO BULL. When we first looked into getting solar panels for our home a few years back, it didn't seem to make financial sense. We do care about offsetting some of our carbon footprint, but what we really were looking for was monthly savings and with the price of solar back then there was no way. Since then, I've seen our PG&E bills get bigger and bigger every year, so this year I had finally had enough. I've seen SunPower by Sun Solar and Jeff and Scott on TV for a while now and I liked the idea of their "we educate, you decide" approach. The last thing I wanted was to invite a used car sales guy into my home. Scott was great! He looked at our power usage and bills and was able to get us a system that not only offsets all of our power usage, but even produces extra power so I can get that electric car I've been eyeing. Everyone we dealt with at Sunpower by Sun Solar were very friendly and helpful. If I had any questions or concerns they were addressed immediately. I couldn't be happier at the deal we got and the speed at which the system was installed. Even the power company was co-operative and our system was given a permit to operate over a month earlier than estimated at signing. The crew that came to install the system were respectful of our property and the impact the construction had on our neighbors. They finished in one day and the crew leader provided us with valuable information on our system and the safe operation of it. From my first solar inquiry call to Matt Bell @ SunPower (referred by a friend), I never felt like I was being pressured to make a hasty decision. Matt provided me with different plan proposals based on my needs now and in future. He was patient and understanding when I informed him that I wanted to hear from a competitor as well. SumPower offered the best product for the best deal. Once plans were approved, everything moved quickly - installation took a single day (Friday). System was turned on and producing immediately. City Inspection was the following Tuesday. SCE approved within 1 week and my system OFFICIALLY producing 2 days later. Easy Peasy!! Im only giving 4 stars due to the installation operator moving my breakers, not relabeling and key equipment being turned off/on. We got several quotes for a solar system and SunPower by Sun Solar was by far the best, especially considering cost and quality. Matt Bell with Sun Solar met with us and provided three options for a solar system and explained the benefits of solar and of each of the three options. We eventually went with SunPower by Sun Solar and definitely were not disappointed. Matt Bell was always responsive to our questions and frequently provided us with status updates. Matt always returned our phone calls and/or text messages within minutes. Once we received a permit to install the solar panels from the City of Fresno, Sun Solar promptly installed the solar panels and then worked with the city to have the system inspected and PG&E to get permission to operate. We resisted "going solar" for several years, but recently decided now was the time for us to do it. We interviewed 3 solar companies and all seemed acceptable to us, however, SunPower by Sun Solar offered us the best in performance, reliability, and cost options. Colleen did a great job explaining the process, kept in touch throughout, and was always available to assist. The installation crew was great, too. They respected our property and concerns, kept us informed as the installation progressed (only took 2 days), and they always left the work site clean. They also did a very clean installation; no external wires or conduits and the panel layouts are aesthetically unobtrusive. Now we are producing way more power each day than our PG&E bill shows we are consuming on our "average daily usage". So update - with all the recent heavy rains, there was a leak in a section of the roof and I wasn't sure if it had to do with the panel installation or not. I contacted SunPower and spoke to Richard; He said the team was in my area and could stop by today and they arrived within 5 minutes of the suggested time. The team went up to review and discovered that where the roof gable and roof hip meet, a tile had slipped, and the felt paper was compromised due to debris from getting underneath. He showed me the area with photos and while it was nothing their team did at time of install, they took the time to clean it up and seal the area so I didn't have to call a roofer out. He also went around to some other areas that while are not leaking yet, they show probable potential to do so if not properly maintained. THIS is what I call valuable and amazing customer service!! As good as it gets! We had solar that came with our house. However, at years end we found ourselves with a huge true-up. We contacted Andrew and he came to us and showed us what we could do. We added 22 more panels to our existing 16. The new system by SunPower is producing twice as much as the year old 16 panels that came withe the house. We now have all our power needs being met at over $100 less per month. Service team was awesome, system looks good, took less than two days for the install, and the team left no trash or things to wrap up. PG&E approved the system for use on Sunday and Monday morning Project Management called to setup an appointment to instruct us on how the system worked and to get us online with the monitoring tools. They also told us we could turn the system on when they called so we could start producing power the day before they came out. GREAT JOB! read more

We heard about Sun Solar from friends and started researching. We submitted a request and had no difficulties getting an appointment and learning even more. Andrew gave a great presentation and provided several options we could choose from. He was attentive to our concerns and answered our questions to satisfaction. I will add he was very helpful in providing education regarding how the tax credit would work out as well. It was also great to get an idea of how our home's system would be designed to capture as much sun and produce what we will need over time, what we can start with, and how we can upgrade our system if we need to in the future. The warranty even better. We are very happy with the process of applying for the system, the support team, design team, the whole thing was way easier than I envisioned. We shopped around for six months and looked at four different companies. We finally decided to go with Sun Solar and have been very pleased. The sales team, the design group and the install guys were all great to work with. We liked the idea of a local company and felt that the deal that we got from Sun Solar was very competitive. We researched the different panels that the companies were suggesting and found that the Sun Power equipment was top of the line. We felt very good about only putting the best equipment on our house. After the system was installed, we were intrigued by watching our system on the internet monitor. We could not believe all the power that we were producing and the money we were saving. Great company. We installed in April but researched several different companies before deciding on this one. What sold it for me on sun solar was reading through the contracts. Other companies were combining yearly minimum production amounts for a grand total production guarantee. I like to know what I should be producing each year not over 20 years. If you have the time (and should if you are making this investment) read the contracts of the other companies you are considering and you will see the difference. Also, installers are very professional. Higher priced but I felt we were getting what we paid for. I like the smaller footprint on my roof (fewer panels). My only, minor, issue was the push to purchase more panels than necessary. Do the research and know what you need before even contacting any solar company. read more

Our friend recommended Sun Solar to us when we bought our home and received our summer bill for around $900. We called for a home consultation and met with Andrew. We had many doubts about solar and decided to pass. Then the next summer came and we did everything to make our home more energy efficient. We still got a high PGE bill and called Andrew again. The install went so fast, the crew worked as a unit safely! The crew old contact the new customers and review the production of the syestemleader explained what would be happening and the step there after. Now it is on and making power abondant. I think sun solar would do good if they would review the power results and explain the usage and power generator. Lots of charts and graphs. Very clean instal and can not hardly see it from the road.
