I've had my fair share of nail salons, but I've gone twice now and each time is brutal. I went on my lunch hour because my regular salon is too far from my work, just wanted my current gel taken off and new gel on. The guy was so impatient, didn't even bother to soak my nails, just went right for the drill. Not even exaggerating, he took so much of my nail off the top, they're bending currently even with gel on. When I said something, he just laughed and continued. He also was annoyed I wasn't getting a manicure, just a gel change and began to talk about me. Again, I normally don't mind that type of thing, but it was only me and another person in the salon at the time and he kept talking about me to the point of all the staff looking at me and them all laughing, I was so embarrassed. I went in today and the nail tech doing my nails used a completely different color than the one I asked for. You could see my nail under the acrylic, and when I said I'd like to add a coat of a different color that wasn't see-through, he said he couldn't fix it. He proceeded to add a chrome top coat (beautiful, but I can't have chrome nails and its not what I asked for). When I told him I didn't want the chrome he got really pissy and took it off and then finished my nails with the same color I told him I didn't like. Really unhappy with the service and the way the nail tech just chose his own color and top coat to do my nails today. read more

There are a fair share of nail salons in the Sneads Ferry/Jacksonville area, however I enjoy coming back to Sun Nails & Spa. They are consistently honoring my appointment time when I call to make one- none of that showing up and sitting around for 30 minutes past appointment time. Their selection of colors & services is extensive, everyone is sure to find something. The technicians are extremely thorough and take their time no matter how busy the salon is. What I love most about this salon is how clean it is kept. You don't see nail dust or smell nail remover upon walking into the salon. The employees & most of the customers are wearing masks. There are also plastic shields in place for the manicure stations. This is a great local spot for nail services and I will continue to come here and be impressed with my manicures & pedicures. read more

I wanted to visit this salon a couple of times before reviewing to see if my visits were consistent. I can proudly say that Sun Nails is my new "go-to" salon! I came here to get a dip mani & gel pedi before the shut down & was SUPER IMPRESSED! Of course I couldn't go back for a couple of months (COVID) and I was super impressed with how long my mani & pedi lasted. I visited after the shut down & was happy with all the measures they have taken to accommodate social distancing measures. They have plexiglass between the stations and pedi chairs & are enforcing a mask when in the salon. You are also required to make an appointment as they aren't taking any walk ins right now- so make an appointment ahead! I highly recommend getting a dip mani if you love dip as opposed to gel/acrylic. From my experience, I feel like finding a good place that does dip is so hard because if it's not done properly, your nails will be chipping within days. I was happily surprised when my dip not only lasted but it looked so good- no bumps or rough spots! Let's not forgot my pedi- a m a z i n g! Helen & her team take their time & appreciate that so much because I just love to relax and not feel rushed! I've been to PLENTY of nail salons between Sneads Ferry and Wilmington and am happy to have Sun Nails as my "go-to" The pricing is very reasonable compared to other salons & if anything I always make sure to tip higher since they always go above & beyond! read more

I can't say enough great things about this place. I got a basic gel manicure. Kim did the manicure part and took her time & did amazing. Helen did the polish and was just as great! I chose lighter colors so on the 2nd cote I was anxious about asking for a 3rd and I didn't even have to ask. I made an apt so I didnt really have to wait but the waiting couch was super comfy. So were the chairs. Super cute decorations & they even had 2 princess set up pedicure chairs for Littles! Everything was done so well & was only $33. You'll want to tip well! Went three times since it changed ownership. First two times they ground my nail bed so thin it took two months to grow back. Third time was Christmas Eve and the guy dabbed the polish on my nails making it look like a five year old did it. Within two days the gel polish popped off on two nails. I'm not one to just walk into a place and expect service which is why I always make appointments. I called to make an appointment and the owner who I spoke to on the phone wanted to know if I could there by 10 a.m. and I said yes because I live close by. She made sure to tell me that was the only time she had. I got there a couple of minutes early. She wasn't even there and never told her employees about my appointment. Her staff doesn't have a good command of the English language and went about their business. I had been waiting almost 15 minutes and I had to insist someone find out where she was or if she was coming in. At 10:20 she comes in with another employee and instead of apologizing for being late or asking who was waiting for her she started taking care of everybody else. I had to speak up to let her know I was the one with the appointment but she did not care. She went about taking care of the other customers, getting them set up with the other techs, making phone calls, going to her car and getting stuff. It is now 10:30 and she kind of starts to work on me when the phone rings making more appointments, she's then talking to the other clients and helping a member of the other party. At this point, I was growing upset. I was going to walk out. I was very vocal and said to her "Well I guess you can't do my nails today". Then the other woman who was trying to get more service backed down since I expressed my displeasure. I also had a pedicure by one of the other techs and who did a less than a professional job. read more

This salon is amazing. I have been getting my nails done for years in Califor and trying to grow my own nails out but every place I've ever gone just wears my real nails down and thins them out. After getting gel dip acrylic with tips done here, my nail artist recognized I wanted to grow my own nails out and after just a month I no longer needed tips and was able to do a dip set of just my real nail. Her nails are bar none, top notch. They last sooooo long and always look fantastic. Call ahead and make an appointment! She doesn't have the set up for large volume. Saw that they were new, thought I'd give it a shot! I like trying new places. Called in to double check they are available and have a slot open for me since it's so sudden. (Which they did, luckily) As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a sweet lady, I'm sure she's the owner. She had great hospitality, offered me water and made me feel right at home. She updated me on her situation at her salon, how shes the only one there and only one other employee! Omylord, what a champ! My toes were looking clean and crisp, she took her time and made my janky toes look like princess toes. lol. I highly recommend!! *I RECOMMEND to make an appointment w/ her first just because she's going through some changes where shes low in staff! Got a gel manicure and regular pedicure. The pedicure was very sloppy, polish in my cuticles, polish not covering the entire nail, and the shape was uneven. The gel manicure was okay, sloppy edges and didn't cover the entire nail with too coat. Wouldn't recommend and won't go again but not the worst service I've received. read more

Cute spot for nails in North Carolina! The location is pretty decent sized for being along a highway. My friend and I came in on a Sunday morning and were surprised that there were only two people working, so we had a decent wait until they were free and another employee arrived. I got a regular manicure and pedicure. The manicure was good - even coverage overall but I noticed some bumps in my thumbs. The pedicure was decent as well, although I noticed that on my big toes the polish did not cover my full nail. They use a sugar for both mani and pedis, which was a nice touch! The pricing in the photos is inaccurate though - it was $17 for a standard manicure and $28 for a standard pedicure. I found this to be pretty steep, I pay less in DC! read more

For the past two years I have been coming here for pedicures and usually go to Lovely Nails & Spa in Jacksonville for all manicures. I booked an appointment today for a manicure and a pedicure as all I wanted was French tip on my natural nails (manicure) however, they did have to remove a dip I had gotten done in Texas. When Ms. Kim accidentally double booked trying to accommodate a grandmother and her granddaughter from out of town it was evident that Helen was not pleased. Ms. Kim finished my pedicure and had me sit in Helen's seat. Immediately after removing the foil off my fingernails you can see and hear the tone in Helens voice that she wasn't happy because of how long it was going to take her to remove the dip. She made an extremely rude comment stating how picky I was and how I didn't like thick nails yet I went somewhere else where they did a thick dip polish. I didn't feel the need to explain to her my business as I am paying for their services. As she continued to be RUDE I no longer wanted a French tip and opted out for a clear but the attitude continued. I did not get a manicure done so decided to pay. I got charged for a manicure I did not receive. Extremely UNPROFESSIONAL as I called ahead to book this appt. No longer recommend this location, I will no longer be coming here. read more

I don't usually go to here to get my nails done, but I have once and I would say they're about average. I have, however, booked several waxing appointments here and have left happy. It was my go to place until just recently when I had a pretty poor experience. I stopped by midday to see if they had time for a walk-in and ended up making an appointment for later that day. When I came back that afternoon, I arrived a few minutes early because it was a weekend and I would be their last appointment for the day and I was trying to ensure I didn't keep them late. I walked in and was not even greeted or acknowledged, although I did make eye contact with the woman who made my appointment earlier that day. Almost an hour passed... forty five minutes past my appointment was supposed to start and the room hadn't even been set up. I finally got up and left. Not wanting to turn away from my go-to place on a single bad experience, I called to make another appointment. The woman who did my wax this time did a terrible job and waxed in all sorts of bizarre directions (rather than straight against the direction they grow) which broke most of the hairs at the surface instead of pulling them out cleanly. The result was stubbly, underwhelming and disappointing. I wont be going back anytime soon--less than average customer service and mediocre quality manicures and waxing. read more

We were there for thirty minutes and all we could get accomplished was removing paint from one set of toes.
