Surf City Nail Spa - May be my new favorite. Natural umbre w/ white pearl chrome - Nail Salons Near Me - Hampstead, North Carolina

This salon is very dirty. The nail techs are dressed inappropriate and are very unprofessional. The quality of work is terrible. It was over $100 for two terrible gel manicures and one basic pedicure. I asked for my daughters nails to be refinished and they looked worse the second time around. Do not recommend. Also no covid protocols in place. No masks and nothing is being wiped down in-between customers. I watched a nail tech blow her nose in the customer sink. Absolutely disgusting. read more

The manicurist was rude, very rude. He was not friendly at all, never greeted me. Just plain rude! The salon was filthy as well. There were old nail clippings left at the station I was at and the equipment was dirty as well. Never again for me! There are plenty of other nail salons to choose from. read more

Yoooo this place is trash. This is the 4th nail salon I've tried in this area coming from finer salons in DC and Dallas and they are all horrible here. I picked a clear shimmery color and she put straight silver glitter on my nails. I told her it was t right and she said it was. I didn't want to fuss any more. But these things were $50!! For the wrong color and poor quality powder that chips. I work from home and I've been lazy as hel* the last few days so no reason this should be happening. I pay $38 in larger cities so I'm shocked at the $50 price tag. Especially for the quality. STEER AWAY! read more

Scott is absolutely wonderful! He did an amazing work! Had a manicure and pedicure absolutely the best ever!

Yesterday ,it was my last time to spend my hard earned money and time to this business.I had come to this salon in few years and loved it , but it isn't the same anymore, most employees are new ,I got it,people come and gone but the guy who were at the front desk, why he even there to be receptionist while he can't even speak English and barely understand .He kept asking me that "do you remember me" ,do you want I do for you? I did for you last time ,sorry I don't remember all that ,plus I just want to relax after a long day ,I need a little of time to look at the colors I want and what kind of pedicure I need .He just kept pushing me to get Volcano pedicure and gel polish ,even I said "I can't afford them",he couldn't take "A No" .I had to deal with his voice underneath his mask, complaining how cheap I were I guess and his attitude even he were faking laughing with me ,just so annoying, during the whole pedicure process, and then filled my nails, they turned out uneven . If you really need "Me Time ",you should go elsewhere or stay away from this guy.HIS NAME IS TOM . read more

I have been here several times over the years and have had varying experiences. Sometimes I've Had great services and sometimes not so much. I honestly don't know why I keep going but the last time was definitely the last time. I told the woman who was doing my pedicure that i was in pain and she didn't adjust or react at all and now I have little cuts on all my toes. (See picture) I got a great manicure but the pedicure was horrible. read more

I love going to this salon. the people are very kind and the ambience is so peaceful. but just yesterday i went to get my acrylic nails removed (which i had gotten here a little over 3 weeks ago). i have had acrylic nails removed before so i expected the usual: cut the length off, buff the color off, soak them in acetone for a while then pull them off. I got Ruby, who is the girl who did these nails i was getting removed (i noticed she was very rough with the electric grinder even then, she made two of my fingers bleed) anyways, she cut the extra length off then pulled out the box of nails. she then took a nail and started sliding them under my acrylics and ripping them off. i know this is a method of removal but usually they will soak the nails in acetone to loosen them, but not here. this was very painful and wasn't very effective and took a long time. she then took clippers on the pieces she couldn't rip off and messed up and cut too far into my thumb nail and sliced it open. she didn't apologize or even acknowledge that she cut into my nail despite that it is obviously a flap and moveable now. . i've added a picture of my thumb today, a day later. she also clipped my real nails way too short when i asked her not to clip them at all. i don't think this was intentional, she just pulled them off with the acrylic nail. which was also really painful. ultimately very disappointed in my experience yesterday with this salon. there is still acrylic on many of my fingers and i'll have to wait for my thumb to heal before i get new nails. it is less painful when i take them off myself by soaking them in acetone with cotton balls. this place does really good work and has some really great employees but i would avoid Ruby if you're getting a manicure, because she is very rough with her tools. read more

When I first got in the salon my guy was so nice & got me all the colors to choose from, plus a drink. Once I sat down to get a pedicure, he tried to pressure me into getting an expensive pedicure ($75 volcano pedicure). I picked my color & he pressured me into getting shellac on my toes, for an upcharge of course. At this point, I was done arguing with him about what I wanted. I should have stopped after my pedicure, but then I went to get dip nails at his station. He messed up on a couple of my nails (I am usually one not to say anything, however, these were bad mistakes). I said something, he then got so upset and started banging his equipment around. He actually made it worse trying to fix it & basically had to start all over again. Maybe I just got the pushy guy, but they would be lucky if I am a returning customer. read more

This is probably the worst manicure I've ever gotten. I got dip and I've never before had someone put a clear coat on top of dip then have to sit at the regular polish drying light??? The edges are so rough that I've picked my shirt when they run up against it. She put like 10 layers on each nail and they are so thick and feel uncomfortable! Definitely don't recommend. Better off going to the place by Harris Teeter read more

After the hurricane Florence and being stuck without power a few days my brows needed help! Though this spa isn't my normal place I came here because it was open and closet to where we were staying. I got here at 9 when they opened and was taking right back the the waxing area. The lady was very nice and professional. The spa was very clean and attractively decorated. Their prices are very good and competitive for this area. There was a strange feeling when I walked in as they all starred at me as if something was wrong. I just continued on my way because I really needed my brows done. The wax wasn't to hot which was a plus of course and I was satisfied with my outcome. read more

This nail salon is great! I can really tell that the owners care about their salon and their workers. The lovely lady who did my nails, took her time and did a fantastic job. If you get the foot massage they take you to a private and peaceful room where the lights are dim and soft spa music is playing. While I was there (2 hours on a Saturday) they had several walk ins and they were able to get to them in a timely manner, I'd say no one waited more than 8 minutes. The place was clean and there were hundreds of options for both dip and gel. I'd definitely recommend this nail salon to my friends and family. read more

The staff is great. The owner is terrible. I took my niece and daughter in for mani/pedi. It literally took us 3 hours. My niece sat in a chair for 40 mins before anyone started her pedicure. My toes were being painted as they started taking her polish off. They then forgot about her manicure and when I asked about it the owner began to blame a nine year old. Once I brought it to her attention that she was again waiting, she waited another 30 minutes. My niece was in tears feeling forgotten about. And again the owner took no responsibility. I would rather be told the wait was an hour than go through that again. $300 later and I left furious. Learn how to take care of your customers. Do yourself a favor and go down the street elsewhere. The only stars given are for her staff working their butts off with zero support from ownership. read more

Long story short, I went in a couple days ago, seated and my pedicure started by a young gentleman, who was singing, or made all weird sound while he was working on my pedicure what made me feel kinda weird .My toes got cut so bad and my heal almost bleeding.I noticed that he don't even have any knowledge about his job .Then another girl, gave me massages , and polished what took about 40 minutes for my toes be colored, .He came back and screaming in her face , and pointed his finger to her and yelled about total money that customers just walked out the salon .I just about to call cops on him , then she said that her husband, Omg .It were a terrible experience that I had there NO RELAX , DON"T WASTE YOUR TIMES , YOUR MONEY read more

Very disappointed with this gel manicure. I have had this for 1 week, and the gel polish they put on and promised no chipping or breaking, chipped and cracked. Also, I'm 99% sure they burned the gel into my real nails with the UV light... you can see in the picture how burnt the polish is... it was originally a lavender purple and now it just looks horrible. read more

Holly and Hito have both done great fill-ins of hard gel for me. They pay particular attention to detail and always assure I am satisfied with my service. I like my nails thinner and they are able to accommodate this and yet I don't have any issues with breakage. I can usually go a full 3 weeks between fill-ins. I also get regular pedicures and every technician I have had has been great. it is a great shop that is often very busy. I find calling ahead for an appt works best for me. read more

For probably a decade I've had gel consistently on my nails, and never have they chipped as fast as they did when I got them done here. They lasted less than a week. The place felt cluttered and somehow dirty even though I'm sure it's relatively new. The man doing my nails did not wash his hands between the previous customer and me, I could feel nail dust on his hands. To take off my previous gel he had me soak my hands in a bowl of pure acetone--something I haven't seen a nail place in years. My nails feel much thinner than normal. Will not be returning. read more

It was bad. What a waste of time and money. - Horrible job, my shellac (on every single fingernail) peeled right off only two days later. - Manicure was poor, and after my nails looked thick and "goopy." - The guy doing my nails was very unpleasant and cold. Not to mention he took forever. Never seen anyone do nails like this. Two nails at a time and then have me put my hand in the lamp, alternating hands every two fingers. He also did 4/5 layers unnecessarily, he just kept going and going and my nails were so uneven some even had air bubbles. :-/ Lastly, he kept telling me to put my hand all the way in the lamp box. My fingers were literally touching the end and I could not go in any further, so I'd say my hand is all the way in. But he persisted, "put your hand all the way in." Never will return. read more

I received a very rushed nail service. The guy doing my nails was very distracted and you could tell wanted nothing to do with nails that day. I got a gel manicure. I picked out a very natural clear pink color which, according to him, meant he didn't have to stay within the lines. The gel is already coming up in some spots after two days. The facility itself looks very nice and the other staff seemed very friendly. I will probably try and again and hopefully get a different person. read more

I have been here multiple times and never been this disappointed before. I rarely speak up or complain anywhere but the more I think about how my daughter and I were treated on Friday night the more upset I get. We went in at 4:45 for a quick and standard manicure... no frills and nothing special. They sat us immediately only to make us wait, which is pretty standard at most nail spas. I felt as if I was a burden for the person doing my nails, she was more interested in her phone than she was in doing her job, after we left my daughter shared the same about her nail technician. My daughter is 12 so for her to say that someone was using their phone at an inappropriate time really speaks volumes. As if that wasn't enough to turn us off to this place, another client asked for her brows to be waxed and the technician doing my daughter's manicure got up and left to do it.... in the middle of the manicure!!!! Just left her at the table! So after 5 minutes I asked my technician if someone else could finish my daughter's nails and she said no because they wouldn't be making any extra money. I pushed back and said I was sorry about that but it was extremely rude and unprofessional for her technician to leave halfway through and that we had somewhere to be and couldn't wait 15 more minutes for her to be done waxing another client.. she begrudgingly ask someone else to finish up my daughter's nails... I have to say that this last technician was super sweet and so kind to my daughter. She finished up and didn't make my daughter feel like she was a burden at all. I won't be returning to this salon, I wasn't a fan to begin with but after this I will never spend another dime here. read more

I've been coming to this place for the last two years, but after this last experience I won't be back. The man doing my pedi accidentally cut me which didn't really bother me as much but after he put this blue liquid on the cut and he rubbed the bottle on my skin. I have no idea how many other people skins that bottle has touched. Also my mani was horrible the young girl (I think her name was Rachel) barely dipped my hands in cold water before touching my cuticles and to add to that she pulled her cuticles cutter out of some dirty ziplock bag! I'm not one to make a scene, definitely disgusting and to top it all off she didn't exfoliate or lotion my hands, they've always done it and If I'm paying $70+ it's the least they could do. This place used to be so good I'm not sure what happened. read more

Called at about 12 noon to request an appointment for my daughter to get a manicure and was told we could come in at 1:30 p.m., so I was very happy with being able to come in so quickly. However, even though the service was very friendly and the place was fairly clean, but a little crowded, we were not completely satisfied with the finished product. I was charged for a gel French manicure except my daughter chose white nails with black tips, ($40) but the final result could have been much better. The polish didn't completely cover my daughter's nails and it was the fastest manicure I have ever seen. Good thing my daughter is 10 and easy to please. read more

I asked for the #2 pedicure which is around $40. The male tech with longer hair rushed the entire process. They were not busy. Other techs sitting around and relaxing in massage chairs. I asked why it was going so quickly and he said "everybody else just slow." Before I know it, maybe in the chair 10 minutes, my nails are already being painted. No massage, no lotion, no exfoliant rub, which I am paying for. I ask him about it and he says, "oh I do that after." I'm thinking to myself, then how do u rinse it off??? He takes me to the back room to massage my legs with hot stones where he then puts the exfoliant jelly on my legs and rubs it in, then mixes it with lotion, then douses my legs with oil. The hot stones felt good on the first leg then cold on the second. I left out of there with oily legs and residue where he didnt clean them off 100%. Dont let this guy be your tech! read more

Pedis seems liked a great idea at the beach. While this one is conveniently located, it's a bit overpriced for the area and a little on the creepy side. I chose the Premium for the paraffin wax. The attendant was pleasant but no one offered us water. There were some employees lounging in the pedicure chairs on their phones - this felt unprofessional. 20 minutes into the pedicure, they place a hot towel that smelled a bit dirty (like stale water) on our legs. They used that same towel to wipe off the lotion. Then they took us to a closet with an old worn recliner for the foot massage. There was no place to hang my bag and the area felt dirty. There were rough blue and red towels draped where my feet would hang, which she used to wipe off the excessive oil she put on my legs. After the massage, We were escorted back to our seats to paint the nails. I would have preferred to have had my foot massage at the chair. For the $50 price tag, I wish we had gone to a different location further off the island. read more

This is my favorite place to get my nails done! All the girls are friendly (guys too I didn't forget you Mario) and warm. They will talk if you want to talk or quietly heal and beautify your hands and feet while you sit in peace. I'm not always in the mood to talk I'm usually exhausted when I come In they are good to me despite my talking or silence. They consistently do a good job and will fix anything that arises immediately with a smile and without question. They are open until 7pm every day of the week. They do eyelashes and eyebrows there also. They have a super cute little massage room as part of their pedicures that is away from the rest of the salon, has fabulous beds, and is dim so you can relax for your hot stone calve massage. I'm picky and expect the job to be done right and the first time. I've never been unhappy.
