MAGGOTS IN FOOD!!!!!!!! What started as an excellent meal with a friend turned into a vomit inducing mess. I ordered the wanton and noodle soup, my partner had the orange chicken. Both of us were impressed with our food, the quick service, it was alright... until it wasn't!! I had eaten probably 80% of my food, and then I noticed something swimming around in my food.. A MAGGOT. My stomach feels like lead and I had to stop myself from freaking out. To make matters worse, when we told our server about the literal BUG IN MY FOOD, she nonchalantly took my bowl away and only refunded us for my soup with ZERO APOLOGIES or offer for compensation. Sun Moon Garden has arguably the best prices in Burbank for Chinese food. The portions are large and they have plenty of dinner and lunch specials to choose from. On this visit, I ordered from their lunch specials menu and chose the beef chow mein . All lunch specials comes with fried rice, soup and an egg roll. All for the price of $7.75. You can't beat the price for the amount of food you get. Service was friendly and I was in& out in under ten minutes. They also have a menu for party trays. The food is good. I'm not even done with my meal yet but I had to stop and review this place. This is my new go to Chinese restaurant in Burbank! I called to place my pick up order. They were so friendly over the phone. The employee warned me that they were very busy with orders (this was lunch Christmas Day, so not a surprise). She asked if it was okay that it would take them 30 minutes to fill my order. I said of course. I got to the restaurant about 25 minutes later. My meal was ready and hot. You could tell that they were very busy with take out but service was still prompt and friendly. Just what needed for my COVID Holidays alone! When I got home my food was exactly they way I remembered it as a kid. I have been searching for a place that had Szechuan Chicken like what my mom and I used to get. This is all that and more. Love the addition of the celery. Such good flavors! Egg rolls are on point and the Hot and Spicy Soup is perfect! I will happily be eating way too much Chinese food today! Their COVID set up is really nice. They have a plexiglass barrier set up. They keep you right at the door so if there was a line the line would stay outside. This will allow for the needed airflow. The chicken chunks were soft, not chewy. The service. I LOVED it. I arrived at 8:40p. The staff was still so cheerful and friendly after a long day of work. The owner was very hospitable. He checked on how I was enjoying my meal. I told him I preferred a crispier Orange Beef. He took zero offense of my criticisms and suggested we can make it to preference and suggest I order the sauce on the side and/or ask for the beef to be extra crispy. I mentioned some of my favorites like Spicy Eggplant or Salt & Pepper Pork weren't on the menu. I was told to inquire about them. If they can make it they will. I guess that makes sense. They already have Salt & Pepper Shrimp on the menu and they have pork on the menu. I can see how it's possible for them to make Salt & Pepper Pork. Their bathroom was VERY clean. I eat a lot of authentic Chinese and Taiwanese food but I'm down to eat some American Chinese now and then, and was pleasantly surprised that there was not over saturation of flavor, greasiness, or thickeners added to the snow pea shrimp. Even better all the vegetables are legit real vegetables nothing frozen etc. Also got the steamed chicken vegetable dumplings and they were tasty and good texture. On Christmas 2020, they were the only Chinese restaurant open near us. In fact, I called, there was no answer (probably because they were on the other line) and then they called me back! I hadn't been here in over 20 years and deeply regret that choice now. My favorite thing to get at a Chinese place is lo mein. I love noodles!! And I've tried various places in Burbank, with none of them grabbing my undivided loyalty, but I'm happy to say that has changed. On Christmas, we ordered kung pao shrimp, combination chow mein, hot and sour soup, and a veggie stir fry. My husband, who is not a big Chinese food lover, actually liked the kung pao shrimp and had seconds. I loved the noodles and have already been back twice to pick up noodles. The soup and stir fry were both decent as well. Also, their hot sauce is SO GOOD. I love it!! When you call in an order, it's really quick too. It is now our go-to place for Chinese food and will be back on a regular basis. During Covid, I've seen the staff wearing masks when I've picked up orders. read more
