Ugh, man. I came here because I was starving and love trying hole in the walls. Walk in, the prices are too good to be true. $10.99 for an entree that includes soup, egg roll and some fried shrimp. I ordered the beef broccoli and .. ughhh. The rice was definitely cooked in old oil. OLD oil. It was so gnarly dude. I took a few bites and asked myself why I spent $12 to poison myself. The eggroll (probably cooked in the same oil), was permanently hot. The flavor was good on it but my stomach was starting to turn from the couple bites of rice. I finished the beef and broccoli because the sauce on it was good and the broccoli was yummy. But the beef was clearly not really beef I think. The fried shrimp was inedible completely. I don't really believe in giving 1 stars but I have to this time around because the service was really bad as well. This is my go-to spot for food after a trip. The last thing you want to do when you come home from traveling is cook and this restaurant always hits the spot! Lots of vegetables, large portions, fresh hot green tea and soup with each meal when you eat in. They have lunch and dinner combos, but honestly everything on their menu is awesome. My favorites include orange chicken, szechwan sliced bbq pork, mongolian beef, honey walnut shrimp and the dish I order every single time I go: buddha's delight. It's packed with various vegetables in a slightly sweet sauce that delivers the nutrients your body is craving. They offer take out, but I suggest dining in to get the full experience. The walls are decorated with a mix of artwork and images of their food while a pop station plays in the background. You'll sometimes find the kids doing homework at one of the tables during the week. They're sustainability friendly too, so if you'd like them to package something up in your own container, they're happy to do so. I've only ever gotten take out from here, so I'm not sure if its gets packed but it was empty. It could've just been a generally slow time because they didn't seem to have that much staff inside either. Regardless, I was immediately greeted and got my food quickly while it was still piping hot. I was extremely impressed by the flavor and tenderness of the shrimp here. I could drink the sauce my kung pao shrimp came in. Everything was perfectly cooked and the spice level was very mild, despite the bits of charred chiles mixed into the dish. I could actually probably go up a spice level or two if anything. The rice tasted even better once I got the idea to mix some of the sauce into it too. Unfortunately, I ordered a boba Thai tea from them but they were out of boba and it turned out to be a little too sweet for me anyways. Sun Moon Garden is a hidden gem in Burbank. I was recommended to try the restaurant. I went in and met Lynn at the front desk. She was friendly and welcoming. I asked her what the most popular plate was and she said "All of them". Later I found out that she was correct Sum Moon Garden has been around since 2001. It is a family run business and they have consistent regulars. Every time I go there, the orders are on the table ready to be picked up. There is a constant stream of people coming in and out. I went with the Kung Pao chicken, fried rice and hot and sour soup. Look at my photos. The Kung pao chicken is delicious. I think that this is the best hot and sour soap that I have ever had. The soap is heavy and full of flavor. The location is located on a bend and very easy to miss. There is plenty of parking. Pick up orders are ready in 15 minutes. Great little restaurant there was a lot of traffic on the freeway, so I decided to pull over and grab a bite to eat when I drove past Sun Moon Garden. I pulled over and luckily found a parking spot, which honestly the parking lot isn't all that great. However, I quickly learned that it's because of how popular this place is. I walked in alone looking for a table for one and it truly was a full house, I was thankfully quickly seated and tended to. It is ran by only a few people, however the service is friendly, fast, and the quality of the food is amazing. I ordered the pork fried rice and cream cheese wontons which were both phenomenal. I am picky with my fried rice however, this place has some of the BEST fried rice that I've tried. They also bring teat to your tale which was nice because this was a particularly cold night. Sun Moon Garden is officially my favorite Chinese food spot in Burbank! I placed a pick up order through their website and pick up time stated 25 minutes. When I went to pick up my order, I did have to wait an additional 10 minutes but I didn't mind because they were busy and there was only one waitress. She was very friendly and apologized for the wait. I ordered orange beef, garlic chicken, vegetable chow mein, wonton soup, green onion pancakes, and the sampler appetizer. Honestly, everything was delicious and very flavorful. Sometimes Chinese food can be overly greasy and lacking in flavor but this wasn't the case. We received plenty of food for about $80. Next time I'm craving Chinese food, I will absolutely order from here again. read more

Large portions, enough for 2 people to share and get full. The only thing is , I felt a little bit of a Clorox smell from the soup bowl that bothered me. Service was fast and good too. I was hoping for some old school charm and home cooking, but I have to say this was some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I had the dinner special with Shrimp Egg Foo Young, and the omelette part was simply inedible. Crusty and burnt on the outside, gross inside. The shrimp and veggies on top were "okay" and the only passable part of the meal. The "fried rice" was literally just fried rice, no egg, veggies or any sort of meat. My wife didn't fare much better with her Sweet & Sour Pork lunch special. This strip mall is 1 way! My GPS did a great job taking me to the back alley streets, etc. and landed us right at the entrance of the strip mall. We got there at 2P on a Saturday afternoon. Some parking spots are open (free). Easy access. Employees: The server lady was super nice! After ordered, I remembered that I wanted the gravy to be separated from the egg foo young and she ran real fast to the kitchen and the chef quickly made my request happened. Combo Chow Fun I am so picky for my kwetiauw! But theirs was cooked into perfection. I ordered combo so I can try all their meats: pork, chicken and beef were super tender and perfectly done, including their shrimps. Orange chicken: I grade establishments by their orange chicken. And this place made 1 of the tastiest orange chicken! Shrimps egg foo young: They made EFY in the classic way: the "gravy" was more likely veggies and shrimps stir fry in thick gravy and they pour it on top of the 3 EFY. Overall, I love them! I watched more than one patron walk-in and wait forever to be served by the sole employee, who seems to be a very busy elderly woman. Given this is the case, she is not very pleasant. On top of that my Online Order wasn't even prepped or finished by the time I arrived. I ordered online so that I could get my food sooner than later-- this was not the case. We had the fried rice, chicken chow mein, shrimp chow mein, orange chicken, egg drop soup, eggs rolls, shrimp and broccoli and hot tea. Everything was made beautifully and the service was fast. Only suggestions I have are to expand the drink menu, There wasn't very many options besides soda and Thai tea which isn't helpful for customers who don't drink sugary drinks. I've had the privilege of living across the street from this hidden gem for years. "Sun Moon Garden" has to be some of the best, if not the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. It blows away "Blanda Express" in every way, especially if you enjoy FLAVOR! I am a sucker for a good dish of Beef & Broccoli & Pork Fried rice, when done right it's a 'tastegasm,' and this place always does it right! It's run by a couple and has been a Burbank staple for years. The very first time I ever went here, there was a family of around 15 people dining. As I was waiting on my order one of the diners told me that every year they have a mini-family reunion, and every year they all corral to this place to eat. The family is located all over Southern California, and the fact they trek to this hidden treasure is a testament to the consistency and quality. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED :) read more

Took my Mom and daughter here today for lunch before shopping. We went in and there was only one person sitting in the dining room. We didn't see any staff member for a good five minutes. The prices for lunch specials are $8.59 to $9.59 for rice, egg drop soup, spring roll, and whatever entree you choose from the specials. They also give you complimentary jasmine tea. Wow...you can't beat that! I ordered kung poa chicken, my mother had the shrimp and mushrooms, and my daughter had the orange chicken. We also ordered crab Rangoon's. Food came out really fast. The Kung poa chicken I was very tasty. The only thing is they do serve it with dark meat, and if I knew that I would've asked for white meat even if it was the extra charge. The shrimp and mushrooms that my mother had comes with a very light white sauce, and she did say she enjoyed it. My daughter had the orange chicken, but she didn't like it mainly because of the dark meat. I had a taste of it and the flavor was there but I can't understand if someone doesn't like dark meat they're not really gonna like it. The crab Rangoon's were really good. Everything was good. The price was excellent for what you got and staff member was nice and efficient. I gave it a four-star because we waited at the door for five minutes before being sat or seeing a staff member. Had a taste for Chinese food. This place is near my home. I ordered Mongolian beef and broccoli. I asked for one special request to only have the florettes of the broccoli Once I placed my order online they called me immediately a lady in a very aggressive tone told me that she could not cut the stems off and do I want it or not, I really wanted the Chinese food so I said OK, Miss fine I will do it myself. It came with rice and fried shrimp and an eggroll. The eggroll and the shrimp was burnt. The shrimp was flatter than a pancake. It was more hard crust than it was shrimp, they give you an abundance of rice. The rice was very light, so it was good. I don't know why they couldn't cut the stems off of my broccoli, considering it wasn't very many pieces of broccoli in the order at all it had a good sauce, Mongolian beef it's supposed to be tender, I don't know if to say over tender makes sense that something was very weird about it and the meat was super thin and I feel like I would like to try something else there. I'm not sure, my husband ate the shrimp and the eggroll to burnt for me And I did eat the rest of it. I think they are worth another try. read more

Supposedly this is their Crackerjack Crispy Fish. Nothing crispy about it. When I asked the server why it wasn't crispy, her response was "yes, it's soft. It's not crispy."
