I am so grateful to have found Dr. Foote. I had a cataract surgery in San Antonio that was not as it should have been, and that doctor made little effort to improve my situation. Dr. Foote has improved my vision so much. The supportive staff is professional and informative about every procedure. The Optical Department is Inept. Dr Foote is excellent, however those under his employ for helping you with your glasses are totally inept. I went in to order new glasses with my new prescription, and the associate (don't remember his name - older, retirement age), helped me. He was unaware at how to look up my VSP benefits, and the lady behind the desk needed to help. That should have been my first red flag. I picked my frames out, and while doing so he looked at my existing pair (Oakley Servos- had a crack in the plastic frame) He took them and advised he could "fix" them. I never asked for this. He took them and brought hem back a few minutes later- HE MELTED THE COATING ON THE LENSES- this resulted in which looks like viewing through grease on my glasses. I was told my new ones would take 12 plus days to get- I said this was not good. He offered to replace the lenses and have them ready in two days while my newly ordered frames went to VSP. Two days go by, and he came and picked up the frames at my place (very nice). However once completed, I went over to see them as I could not see out of the new glasses- Everything was a "Fish Bowl" view. In addition, the lenses were cheap thick poly-carbonate, not high index which I had before this debacle. He surmised the "Fish Bowl" is because they curved the frames, and that parallax effect was the issue. He said he would straighten them- I jokingly advised, PLEASE cover the lenses so they don't melt. Guess what, HE MELTED THEM AGAIN!! UNREAL. I almost had an aneurysm right there in the office and died. Another area I didn't mention, which now has merit- he saw the nose (bridge) was dirty so he pulled out his pocket knife to scrape them clean. REALLY??!! WOW- FLOORED. Needless to say I am flabbergasted. WOW. So I tell them, I want to cancel my frames/lenses I have on order, as I have no faith ($423.00). They advised they could not make another pair of lenses to fix what they did. WHAT? WHY? They said Dr Foote needs to be involved And now I have no glasses, and I am getting a run around from the management at Sun Eye Care... Of course the Doctor is unavailable to talk to, and has no voicemail. Take your business elsewhere- Or at least until they rid themselves of this unqualified, inept Optical Associate! If they reach out to me and make this right I will update this review- If not, I hope people see this and realize what has happened. read more

Well I very rarely do this but this is just to enlighten future customers. I've gone here before, and the staff is very nice and professional, treated me well. In the past I needed a new eye glass prescription, and went to them, and they are 100 percent accurate on getting you the right prescription eye glasses, and I've used them for the contact lenses exam also 100 percent accurate. To be clear there are two different exams when you want a new prescription for glasses, and a new prescription for contact lenses. So you're looking at spending a pretty penny which is fine if you want both exams. However, I don't normally buy eye glasses that often and usually replace my glasses probably...no joke every 10 years, its the contact lenses I need every year, with a new prescription. So this recent visit I was very disappointed, I specifically called to set up an appointment for a new contact lense exam, the front office staff I booked the appointment with approved the contact lense exam, and I told them I don't need a eye glass exam, and they said that is fine. Well unfortunately when I went in for my appointment, the staff was beating around the bush, and finally spit it out that I have to do an eye glass exam, and that I will be scheduled for the contact lense exam the following day or at a latter time. My problem, and what I take issue with is that the front office staff approved my appointment specifically for just the contact lense exam, and that should have been honored, but there reason for forcing me to take two exams was that its been over a year since I had my last exams at there office. So I was really considering just walking out but chose not to. In all honesty, had I known this was going to happen or if the staff was upfront with me or maybe better informed and told me that that is not possible to do just the contact lenses exam because its been over a year from the get go, I would have just said thank you but i'll schedule a contact lense appointment elsewhere. This location its there policy, so you can't bypass the eye glass exam its mandatory if a years past. If its under a year you can do just the contact lense exam. So my advice to all that go here but want to skip the eye glass exam and go for just the lenses exam schedule your appointment specifically for the lenses before a year has surpassed from your previous exams (eye and lense) if you want to avoid the bs I encountered at this office (Almost positive they will change there policy to it is required to do both exams after 6 months after they see this review). Because after both your exams they will ask to reschedule you on the dot one year later, basically allowing them to hit you with the "You have to do the eye glass exam, its mandatory before we can do the contact lenses exam." These 2 exams combined run a little over the 3 hundo mark. And for any future customers there are other places that will just do the contact lense exam, just be informed and aware, because what happened to me at this location also happened to another family member. I think its very disappointing and not right, had my appointment been honored, as it was when I originally set it up this wouldn't have been an issue. read more

I had been wearing glasses and contacts for over 15 years and I knew that it was time to get Lasik. From the first time that I was helped in Sun Laser Vision Center, I felt very comfortable. My first evaluation was performed by David. David was extremely helpful and made sure to explain every scan that was being made and their results. He was very thorough and answered all of my questions. I was then seen by Dr. Foote who was equally amazing in his explanations and help. He double checked that I was good to go for the surgery and we scheduled my surgery for a week after that. I was explained what would happen on surgery day and was given instructions of what to do prior to the surgery. On surgery day, I was a bit nervous, but as soon as I walked in the Laser center, I was filled with support from all of the staff. Cindy prepared me for the surgery and she was absolutely amazing. During the surgery, the staff (David, Cindy, Mary Jenn, Miriam, Jesus, Jovi) and Dr. Foote were very supporting and made me feel relaxed throughout the process. The surgery itself is painless and quick, the recovery period is also quick and easy. I had minimal to no pain the day of the surgery, and absolutely no pain after surgery day. Just a day after my surgery, I had perfect vision! The Post-op appointments have also gone great. I am always warmly greeted and the waiting time to see the doctor is not bad at all. I highly recommend Sun Laser Vision Center to everyone who is interested in getting Lasik, it is worth every penny and I know that they will have the ultimate experience, just as I did. read more

Be aware that a contact lens exam will not get you an expected prescription. They will have you return and pay a second time (and stick it to your insurance again). Found my visit to be very disappointing and the staff to be unprofessional. This is a money first operation. They only have you once a year so they bleed you dry once you're there. read more
