This is the 3rd time we've been in for lenses for a family member in less than 1 month. You CANNOT make an appointment for their optical department Instead you have to sign in as a walk in and then be constantly overlooked as ppl who have been seen by optometrist AFTER you walked in get seen BEFORE you. It's a crappy way to treat your patients & customers. read more

Not nice when they perform a test that is not covered by the insurance without you knowing and later you found out that you have an extra cost you need to cover read more

Get ready to wait. That seems to be the norm in this podunk town. I made an appointment, took time off work, arrived early and had to wait 30 more minutes. It may not seem like much but I'm tired of waiting in medical offices. My time matters, too. Get it together El Paso. We work too! read more

All the staff were kind, diligent and professional. Dr Koplos was very thorough, knowledgeable and kind as always. She is an amazing doctor!

Office experience was pleasant and the quality of care received was great. Ladies at the receptionist area were friendly and helpful. The wait was short and I appreciate the time and thorough care I received from Dr. Ellis. read more

This is my second visit in two years to get eye-ware, and they did not disappoint! So let me tell you why there were so great. My Dr., Dr. Garner, took some high tech X-rays. Although there was no change in my violation, he did talk to me about the importance of wearing sunglasses while outdoors. I went on to vent about my pet peeve- I wear normal sunglasses while driving, but if I have to read the navigation system on my phone, I have to remove the sunglasses and put on my reading glasses. And the same goes for outdoor dining. You know patio dining is all the rage as folks try to get in their favorite foods from their favorite eateries, so many of us opt for outdoor seating. So here I am in the sun, with my cool shades, and I CANNOT READ the dang menu with outdoor taking off my sunglasses and putting my reading glasses on. Dr. garner told me he could have my normal driving vision in the upper part of my sunglasses and my reading Rx in a small portion on the bottom and the transition would be effortless. Well today my glasses were ready! They took the plastic sunglass lenses out of the frames and gave them to me in my take home kit (in case I want to change them back some day) and they work fantastically! So now I am getting my gal pals together for an outdoor lunch (we are going to The Kitchen at 150 Sunset- beautiful venue)...let me know if you are coming! Don't complain because it is a little bit chilly out- they have outdoor heaters- I have to use my new specs! read more

It was our first and last time here, while the doctors were very professional, the staff at the front desk is anything but that. Being loud and using cuss words in front of patients and kids. Professionalism definitely lacked and it showed. I had questions about my glasses but felt uncomfortable to even ask and interrupt their conversation. Taking personal calls and showing each other videos, I have not experienced anything like this and was disappointed to say the least. read more

I went today for my yearly examination. I have been going to this office for years. great staff, friendly and efficient. And kudos to Dr Delgado for her expertise and professionalism read more

It was my first time going to an eye exam and I gotta say, I loved my experience. Front desk staff was very kind, friendly and helpful. Leading up from the few eye test to the doctor was very smooth. And the doctor was super kind, knowledgeable and professional. And the eye glass team was also helpful and kind. 10/10 read more

Quick and easy visit, professional service and health of eyes explained in detail by Dr. Luna.

This place is horrible, listen to all the horror stories. They overcharge you for everything including a scammy $35 retina imaging fee and credit card fee. Their equipment is dirty and they don't clean between patients. They took 5 weeks to get me my glasses because they straight up lost them. And worst of all they gave me scratched glasses and made me pay $35 to replace them. And I wasted countless hours on the phone and money dealing with this awful business. Never go here! read more

Amazing staff from the receptionist to the doctors . They were very helpful took their time with all the questions and were extremely caring with my anxiety i had . Will for sure be coming back for future appointments. My 3 and 6 year old were very well taken care of as well . read more

No issues with their eye examination department, it is top notch. The issue is with the optical department, they will always try to make you spend more money on things you don't need. And this year their mark up on frames is ridiculous, about $200.00 for luxury brands. The Gucci frames I got in September 2023 have a markup of $200.00 now, and it is the same with the Tom Ford, Versace, Prada, etc. Ray Bans have a markup of about $50.00 to $60.00. About 3 years ago they gave you the retail price from the manufacturer. Will keep going for the exam only. read more

I purchased glasses from University Eye Center on Mesa in El Paso. The first pair they made was incorrect. I could not use the glasses. They asked to remake them for me and I told them I would let them remake them as long as I was assured that if they weren't correct that I could get my money back. Two different representative assured me I could get my money back. They remade them and the second pair was also not correct. When I tried to get a refund they would only refund 80% of what I paid for the glasses. After talking with two different managers, they still refused to refund me the full amount even though the prescription was incorrect. I would not recommend University Eye Center for anybody as they out and out lie to you. read more

I've been a repeat customer at University Vision Center for several years, having purchased many pairs of prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses. I recently missed placed a pair of prescription eyeglasses and we're very short notice had to order a new pair last week. Ashley is a fabulous optician and was very caring about the speed of turn around for my new glasses as I was leaving town. She Expedited a pair of glasses through a local lab while two other pair that I ordered at the same time were delivered today. All three pair were perfect and ready when promised. Ashley could not of been any more professional or friendly, so I'd highly recommend her for your prescription eyewear needs. read more

Got Full exam and glasses at West Side, it was fast and thorough. Bit pricey, but also tons better than going to a mall optometrist. Everyone on staff was courteous and professional. Great tech with digital and old school machines available and a staff that can use both. read more

Second time I've been in there and I get the feeling that my asking questions is a bother to front desk. first time I went in I was looking for a weekend appointment to get iron examination, and they kept on giving me appointments during the week even though I specifically was asking for weekend appointments. This last time I said I came in to look at the glasses and they asked me if I was here to purchase them. I didn't realize that I needed to guarantee that I was going to buy from them for them to show me what they had. read more

It's like going to buy a car. The name University conjures up images of a research institution, which is why I went there. It's a sales operation with skilled salespeople that might move you to buy what you didn't want to buy at uncompetitive prices. Customers beware. read more

They were extremely friendly as soon as we walked in. They brought us in and explained everything very quickly, practically no wait! I went in for a check up for contact lenses. I had a very through exam and was impressed with the staff and physician!

I couldn't be more pleased. I've been a patient for several years and the doctors and staff are very professional.

Great Doctors but unfortunately is overshadowed by how understaffed they are. They have to wait 1 week after giving you contacts to verify you like them and then no one ever called me and I could never get through to anyone my prescription. I ended up having to drive there just to wait 40+ minutes to get my prediction printed because they had to jump through hoops to get someone to sign off on the prescription. Unfortunate that the medical care is outweighed by how hard it is to get your eye needs attended to here. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I went to this place. The people were very nice and attentive. I thought I was receiving great service until I found out at the end as other reviewers mentioned they pull the bait and switch. The technique is beautifully orchestrated. The "doctor" leaves and the technician comes in to let you know that the cost of the contact lens fitting isn't covered by insurance and they charge $115.00. You can imagine I exploded and told them I am not paying for that. I told them with the "doctor" in the room that fee needs to be disclosed upfront. I walked out, I am going to report these crooks to the Department of Health and the Better Business Bureau. read more

Horrible customer service. I called to reschedule because I missed my appointment. My call went to voice mail and I left a message. No one bothered to call me back. I wrote them an email and they didn't bother responding. One of the worst businesses. They don't value the customer at all. You're just "the insured" to them. Their glasses are overpriced. Check Amazon prices. Beware of this place. read more

Don't trust your eyes to these folks. I went to them for my annual exam. I knew I needed new glasses and possibly new contacts. They performed what seemed to be a comprehensive examination. When I received my glasses, my prescription was not correct. They retested my eyes and confirmed the prescription was incorrect, they said my lens overcorrected my vision. They ordered new glasses but said my contacts would be arriving later that week. I asked, and they had failed to correct the prescription in the contacts, so they would be further delays. When the glasses arrived, I asked them to check my vision, and they resisted. I persisted, and finally, they checked my vision with these glasses. Once again, the prescription was wrong. I was now furious, but they asked for one more chance. Reluctantly I told them I'd give them one more shot, and when the glasses arrived, I had my vision checked with this prescription, and the vision in my left eye was simply horrible. I told them I was done and wanted a full refund. They balked, and so I made a trip to pick up the refund, and they only refunded part of it, claiming that is all I had paid. Later, and after 3 calls, I finally got my refund. That whole journey took over 3 months, and I still did not have a set of contacts, did not have a set of glasses, and still did not have a prescription that worked. Later, I saw Dr. Nitaldy and got my prescription and my glasses (At Eyemart) that same day. Two weeks later, I had the contacts. The total cost for Dr. Nitaldy and Eye Mart was less than what the University Vision Center would have cost. read more

Best experience ever!! Marissa did my eye exam - she was very sweet and educated me about each test being performed. Dr. Garner was very kind. He talked me through all my results, made sure I understood, answered all questions, and helped me come to the right decision for my eye needs. In the optical department, Jason was heaven sent!! We probably spent two hours picking out frames lol! He was patient, honest, and wanted to make sure I made the right decision for ME since I would be the one wearing the glasses. I was nervous but everyone was very professional and made me feel comfortable. This is hands down the place I would recommend for your eye needs! read more

University Vision Centre - Optometrists Near Me - El Paso, Texas

Optometrist great. The optical is bad. I have gone here for years. I signed in to get glasses once and the girl who came up to call the next person literally removed my name (they were stickers), placed it under the table, like gum, and then called the next person. When I approached her and told her that was my name she just got rid of, she said she thought I had been seen. And WHAT would have made her think that I wonder?? In a time where eyemart express calls you to pick up your glasses in an hour, this place makes you wait over a month to get yours. Then they say OOPS after you have waited a month and tell you they have the wrong color, or sorry we just realized the glasses we called you to come pick up are broken. I once was soooooo frustrated after driving across town for glasses only to be told they were not in yet, though I had been told they would be, that I must have left my drivers license there. I left town and didn't even realize I had lost it until days later. The only reason I found out that it had in fact been left there, was after I called to complain about something and asked for a manager, this was almost a year after my previous visit. It had taken me almost 30 minutes and I had to ask for a manager just to find out when my scratch resistance plan expired. He told me and I let him know 30 minutes and 3 employees later is a lot to ask of customers for a simple inquiry. Two days after the phone call I received my drivers license in the mail, in a University Vision Centre envelope. I assumed the manager had looked in my file to see when my plan expired and saw my drivers license that someone had left in there, apparently after my last visit a year prior. No one called, no one explained, they just put my drivers license in the mail a YEAR LATER. In other words, this place will not even pick up the phone to let you know you left your drivers license. After speaking to the manager, the company had a bunch of new employees cleaning out desks the week prior and apparently someone found it and mailed it. I tried to find it for months and finally had to get a new one so at least now I knew what happened but was pretty miffed. It is not cheap for frames and lenses there either! Management did apologize. I gave them numerous chances because my optometrist is there, but I value my sanity too much to keep purchasing glasses there. read more

I find it funny reviewing an optometry practice, but the service at UVC is so excellent that it deserves mention. As a medical provider, I am acutely aware of how important timeliness and patient experience are for a practice, and UVC nails it every time. I have been coming to see Dr. Blair for almost 20 years and it's always quality. I've never waited beyond 15 minutes for an appointment to start, and the MAs that you spend most of your visit with are so nice and personable. UVC has the most state of the art equipment, and you really feel like your eyes are getting the most comprehensive diagnostic care possible. At the end of your visit if you need glasses ordered, their opticians are all very nice and will patiently help you make your selection. They are also timely in getting your ordered glasses to you. They often tell you it will be 2 weeks to get your order in, and it's rarely longer than a week before you have your new specs on. UVC is the gold standard for excellent care, and it's why I refer everyone I know to come here for their optometry needs. read more

Dr. Garner is EXCELLENT! I will continue to use him as my Optometrist. As far as the optical they are the worst ever! It has taken me over a month to receive my glasses and the communication has been very poor. I would NEVER purchase glasses from this place. When you ask questions the staff tends to get upset and then rude, but after more than a month of waiting for my glasses I think I deserve an exclamation. read more

Wow did I get lucky, I chose UVC because they were on my insurance covered list, I was seen within 15 minutes, terrifically efficient tech who explained every procedure. I have been in the Medical Industry for nearly 40 years, I know what good and bad looks like. I must say that Dr. Garner looks exemplary! Very personable, extremely knowledgeable, he absolutely made sure that I understood everything that was being explained to me and more. I am sorry that I do not remember the Techs name. My experience was terrific. read more

This is the worst customer services ever!!!!!! Called was being helped by a nice young lady. While on hold Clarisa picked up the phone and was upset, because I would not allow her to help me. I explained that I was already talking to someone regarding my issue. She got extremely rude and said I can help you. I explained again that I did not want to have to explain everything to her again. She insisted, I explained that I could not talk to the person I was previously talking to, that I would just call someone else. She proceeded to tell me "go right ahead!" POOR,POOR,POOR SERVICES!!!!!! read more

Dr. Garner is amazing. He's very thorough and addresses all your concerns. I've been coming to him for 4 years now and have no complaints about him. HOWEVER, the optical is the absolute worst. Do not give them your money. I've had multiple instances where my order was wrong and due to my prescription strength, it's already a minimum of 2 weeks to receive the lenses and the errors prolonged this. My most recent experience and the last straw for me was coming in to get my glasses adjusted as they were feeling loose. I came in with my contacts on so they could take my glasses. When I got home that evening and put my glasses on, they were completely scratched on both lenses. So bad that I was getting headaches from straining my eyes to see though the scratches. I came in the next morning upset, and they stated that the heat from the adjuster machine ruined the lenses. After speaking with another optical, I learned this happens when the person adjusting the frames is not careful. This is literally their job, and they messed this up? I'm done. I should have been done a long time ago. Go somewhere else for your glasses. read more

Trashy and unprofessional staff. Love to discuss former employees issues with customers and other co workers. They like to do the bait and switch and then blame others and Covid for their incompetence. Ordered lenses to be put in a lens holder for goggles and never could get the job done after months. Just gave me the run around. Went to eye mart express (when I mentioned I used them before UVC employee said how they didn't do good work and was a crap place) and mission was accomplished in 45 mins no hassle and no excuses and less than half the price. Regret ever going to UVC. The most pathetic over priced dump around. read more

They don't tell you up front cost... you know your going in for a routine eye exam your insurance will cover... you even called in and confirmed before the appointment... only to have them at check out time ..... try and hit you with a bill ... you clarify that your insurance covers the exam... only to have them say "yes the exam but not the retina pictures of your eyes" in my response... you guys never once mentioned this when I called to make an appointment or during the appointment.... not once did you guys ask me if I would be okay with this ..... A real business that values its customer's. Would be honest and upfront in regarding cost of service.... not try and scam money out last minute ..... read more
