And I had to wait two months to have an appointment because I had to see the same optometrist who had seen me before. When they called me, two weeks later, they wanted $150.00 for not having the frame.Paying for a product that wasn't good from the start, no way. I'm just saying that I won't go back there.

These practices can include false advertising, misrepresentation, and price gouging. A couple of examples include the additional fee for retinal imaging. When I visited almost a year ago this was not mentioned, not once. And yes there was a piece of paper on the wall stating that policy, however it was covered up with other items. I believe the cost was ~$35.00 or so. I refused to pay it simply because I did not give my consent and I was not told about it. However, my wife, my daughter and my son's did, unbeknownst to me (again a year ago). Today, my wife visited the office again, this time there was a text prior to the appointment detailing the fee, however, it states "additional fee" no amount specified. Too bad I can't attach a photo. In addition, the staff was extremely rude to her, and stated one price, then charged another. Upon asking for a refund, she was told that they were unable to give her one because the "manager" was not there to approve it. I'm so disappointed, I'm personally not going to visit this office again and neither are 4 other of his customers, last time. Too bad, if the Optometrist relied on his service alone he'd have a great reputation, however, the price gouging and the fact that the staff can't get their act together on pricing, lying to his customers, yes customers, not patients. He'd have a killer reputation. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, DON'T BE SCAMMED. VISIT ANOTHER OFFICE. Frustrated and disappointed ex customer.

After my boyfriend had his eye exam done here, I decided it was time for some new contacts and glasses so I set up an appointment. They were able to get me in within two weeks and at a time that worked for me. To speed up the process they also gave me the paperwork when scheduling my appointment and told me I could just bring it with when I came back. Efficiency. Everyone that I interacted with was friendly and cheerful. I even appreciated that the doctor didn't try to confuse me in any way and actually set straight a lot of misinformation I was given by my previous doctor/salesperson. You know the best part... the glaucoma machine. You know the machine that blows air into your eyes to test the pressure? At the previous optometrist, I'd always "fail" the test and then I'd have to go through the process of having my eyes dilated which always sucks because driving after is the worst. FBOC's glaucoma machine was actually able to give a real reading because it was a quick push of air instead of the long shot of air that was always forced my eyes to shut. No dilation, YAY! Pretty smooth process and from start to finish was maybe an hour of my time. The staff is great. And I felt like they really went the extra mile with everything... the doctor even decided it was best to do a follow up appointment since there was some uncertainty with my contacts. I paid out of pocket and felt that the price for a contact and glasses prescription was reasonable at $129 (and that included the trial pair of contact lenses).

The second doctor even yelled at me in the exam room telling me he is not interested in what I had to say while I tried to explain why I am there. The doctor at Southwest dismissed me saying I was seeing streaks on their lens machine and that it was as good as it was going to get with my prescription. For two years I struggled with my prescription making it hard to see. I remembered I went to see an optometrist back at El Paso Eyeworks located on Gateway w. I recalled I saw clearly after my exam, so I reached out to her. I saw the optometrist (Dr. Syndy Maynard) this past Saturday, and she listened to my concerns. Turns out, 3 doctors (ophthalmologist, all male), could not figure out that I now needed bifocals. I told these 3 ophthalmologists the exact same thing I told this optometrist. That was the change in my vision. I never had to wear bifocals before. These previous doctors could not figure out or care to figure out that hey, maybe we should take her seriously and investigate just a little further. Two years I was struggling to see! One doctor listened, cared and helped make the correct diagnosis. I am forever grateful for Dr. Maynard and strongly recommend her!

Later, I decided to make an appointment for myself. Another long wait. He looked at my eyes and told me they looked fantastic and healthy. Then when my vision wasn't clear, he looked again and found bleeding in both of my retinas. Kind of scary that he didn't catch that the first time, but I suppose when you overbook yourself and get into a rush you tend to make mistakes. He told me to get my contacts somewhere else because my insurance was difficult to work with. When I went to pick up my son's contacts, they gave me 2 boxes for right eye and 1 box for the left eye. When I asked why, she rambled on that my insurance only covered that so they didn't order the other box. I told her that it would have been nice to have been notified because I would still buy the other box, because my son still needs them. So she said she would order them. We left, and when we got home I realized that the contacts were the wrong brand. So I took out the prescription that Dr. Martinez had written, and....WRONG STRENGTH, as well. When I called the office about it, the woman told me that it was fine, the small difference wouldn't matter. A couple of weeks went by, I got a phonecall that the other box of contacts were in. I went in on Saturday to pick them up and they couldn't find them. I waited for about a half an hour and then told them I would come back Monday because we were busy. I got a call Monday that they were MY contacts, not my sons. Why, I have no clue...because I was told to get them elsewhere...so where are my son's contacts?? Have no clue. Don't care. I will NEVER go back there.
