Working in education and also being involved in non-profit organization boards, I have found myself needing to buy trophies, plaques, or paperweights every now and then. I'm grateful that I came across Sun Devil Trophy & Awards in Tempe many years ago. I have been placing purchases and picking them up from the Tempe location every year or two for the last 15 years or so. They have great products and even better customer service, and the products meet most any price points I have had. While I initially look at the website, I also have several of their catalogs at work. I have reached out to the store by phone and e-mail with questions, and often find myself working with Derek (manager) or one of his team members. While I don't work or live in Tempe, I find myself in Tempe quite often with work meetings. Whenever I pick up items, the staff will walk me through everything I have ordered to ensure that I am satisfied with the items. This past year, I needed to buy paperweights for a non-profit organization, and I learned that they had a limited supply of excess acrylic paperweights in various colors including graving. I jumped at those last year and will likely do that again this year. I have also found budget-friendly plaques with logos on them I have purchased for my students and staff after we hosted two conferences a few years back. For the past 4 years, I've had the pleasure of working with Sun Devil Trophy to order plaques for annual awards for my team hosted at the start of every year. Originally, the business was recommended to by a colleague in Scottsdale, but they ship orders nationwide. Most of my communication typically takes place via email, providing names and details for each award. There was one year that the dimensions of the plaques were wrong and they sent out only name plates, but once I was aware of the issue the business was quick to correct and did not charge me again to re-ship the plaques to the various recipients. ' Once the order has been completed, I usually just have to call to connect with someone in billing to process my payment. I wish they had a better and more secure option to process online since sometimes I will have to play a little phone tag, calling from a different time zone and spending much of my days on conference calls. But someone always calls back quickly so it never drags on too much. I called before coming to store about and engraving inquiry, and the manager, Derek, talked to me in a polite and calm manner, and just told me to come over so they could see the work to be done. I came last minute with some baby utensils to be engraved the same day, and while they do not take same orders, they took my request and I had the product beautifully engraved in less than two hours. They price was a little on the higher side, but it is worth it, since it is high quality and personalized. All the staff was warm and polite. My company used to use this shop for retirement awards. We found that they were eager to sell you on using them, but then had some difficulty delivering what was agreed to. During our final transaction, one of the gentlemen that works here (I believe that it may have been the owner) just completely lost his temper when pushed to deliver what was agreed to.
