This is an excellent auto repair location in Surprise. We've been bringing our 10 year old car here for several years. Recently a warning light came on that my husband wasn't familiar with. When we called (the light hadn't come on for a few days), he was told the light would need to be on. Well, jumped in the car and what do you know. Hubby called and Gerson said bring it in if we had a few minutes. We drove straight here. We pulled up and they hooked it up to two different diagnostic tools. If you are in the market for new tires, CONSIDER OTHER BUSINESSES RATHER THAN SUN DEVIL AUTO. On Jan. 30, I wen to SunDevil Auto to check out a low tire. I ended up purchasing 4 new tires. Less than 24 hours later I drove to the airport, and as I was leaving, I had a completely flat tire. I called SunDevil and was told I could go to their downtown Phoenix business, even though it was past 6:00 on a Friday evening. The airport staff fixed my tire, and I paid them $50. They showed me the flat tire, and it had a huge bulge in it. I was told by Sun Devil they would give me a free oil change for my trouble, after they insinuated that I had gone over a pothole, and that's how the tire was damaged. Potholes are scarce on the highway to the airport, and had I hit one going 65mph, I would have had an accident. After returning to Sun Devil a few days later, I was told they needed to put air valves on all my new tires. I have been offered a $517.00 credit, so I asked them to take that amount of money off of my bill, which was $963.00. Then I was told that was not possible, but it could be used for oil changes, etc. I told them that was not acceptable. The manager told me he would make a call and see if he could get that changed, and that was over a week ago. IF YOU ARE THINKING OF GETTING NEW TIRES, THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT YOUR BUSINESS. read more

They have a $50 off any service if you book your appointment online. Upon going in this morning for my appointment, I was told that doesn't count for oil changes when I specifically used the $50 off link on their website and one of the options is an oil change. After I left this location after canceling, I confirmed online again that this does in fact cover "any service" including oil changes. I called back and Gerson who I had spoken with in store answered. I asked him to go on his website, he asked why, which I said "to educate himself" so no else's time gets wasted. He hung up on me. Went in for a routine oil change, they rotated my tires, fluid checked and checked all my filters as part of the service. The Cost was well within the norms for the Industry, if even a little cheaper than most, but the service itself was top-notch. My service only took about an hour, reasonable given how busy they were. The waiting room is clean and has amendies, the service writer was friendly and professional. Overall, this a very good place to get your car serviced and I will definitely return for any future issues my vehicles have. read more

My husband & I were coming from CA to drop off some furniture for my brother. When we got to the apartment, we noticed a lot of fluid coming from the front of our truck. We have a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel engine. I called a couple shops in the area of El Mirage & almost every shop turned me down because it was a Saturday at 3:30pm. When I called Sun Devil, Kyle answered the phone & told me they would take a look at it, so we left immediately. When we pulled up, their main diesel tech, Toby aka "Mr. 5.9" greeted us in the parking lot & knew right away it was the water pump. The worst service EVER ! I dropped my car off at 8:30 in the morning just to have my heater fixed. I heard nothing from them until 5:00 and then only because I called them ! They then told me that they had not even looked at my car yet ! They could have at least called me earlier and told me that they could not service my car and to come get it and bring it back tomorrow but no. I USE to go to Jiffy Lube at Bell and Reems.. Not anymore! Sun Devil Auto is my new oil change place now. I got a full synthetic oil change for my 2017 Nissan sentra. I'm just a young female, so car places like Jiffy Lube, think us young women are dumb and so they try to upsell anything and everything. At sun devil auto, I'm still a young woman. By myself. They did not try to upsell anything amd everything to me, which I appreciate. Because I know for a fact my 2017 Nissan does not have any issues. They were efficient, honest, fast, and roughly only $58 for a full synthetic. Jiffy Lube tries to charge almost $100 for the same thing. I will continue to come here. I feel safe with my car in their hands. Will recommend to anybody. read more

This auto shop is a brand new shop. I believe this was a Wilhelm auto shop. Anyway, I went in there to get a oil changed and I was referred their by a family member who got an oil change when it was a Wilhelm. I only spent 45 dollars for an oil change but I was called to pick up my new 2020 Corolla and the representative told me I needed new front breaks because they were at a "2 out of 10" meaning I needed breaks immediately. I felt that was peculiar because my car only had 10,000 and Was brand new when I bought it from the dealership. My driving habits are great, I do not hard break and take care of my car so I went to get a second opinion from my dealership. Went there and I was told my breaks were at a 8 out of 10, they were running well. The dealership went inside the car and was able to see the same things Sun Devil Auto seen. While I appreciate the great price for a synthetic oil change, being dishonest and wanting to charge almost 300 dollars to fix a problem that was nonexistent is unacceptable and downright bad business. I will never be back and be sure to tell everyone not to visit this location. read more

I went in because there was a leak under my truck. While I was there the tech came out and said this is the cleanest old ranger I've seen. Don't see any leaks. The front desk guy took me out to look under the truck and I said "right here is the leak". It was obvious and the front desk guy said yeah ad he swiped his finger over the oily place and showed it. It had to do with the transfer case. They said it would probably not be fixed until Friday (I brought it in 7 a.m. Thursday), as it was a 7 hour job and would cost $1500. What?? I wish I had walked out right then but I didn't know where else to take it. I'm new in town. They did not have it fixed on Friday and when they put it back together it was still leaking. This was late afternoon Friday. They said they'd have to have it hauled to their transmission shop on Monday. They topped off the fluid and I took it with the understanding that for short distances it would not harm it any further. I had no other vehicle and rental places were closed for weekend. They want to take it all the way to Chandler to their transmission shop. They might as well be taking it to Mexico. Chandler is at least an hour away. As a woman I'm always afraid to take my car for any maintenance without my husband because Im usually treated unfairly and mechanics tend to be very rude with because I have no clue about cars. This place is absolutely horrible. First time I took my car into the shop for an oil change, a week later it was leaking oil. Took it to a neighborhood mechanic who said they forgot to put back the washer back on the drain bolt for my oil pan. Second time car goes in for an oil change and I get a report saying there is a number of things wrong/missing in my car. I again take it to multiple other people who find every "missing" item and check all the parts that need "replacement" telling me my car is completely fine. MONEY HUNGRY! read more

Just bought a 2016 Silverado back in March of this year. The 100,000 mile service was due, so I took it to the dealership and was blown away by how much they wanted! Felt it was way too high. So I got a quote from Sun Devil, and not only was their price much lower, but they were very courteous and professional. I was certain it was time for new brakes, and they informed me that I had plenty of pad left. I appreciate their honesty, and now they have a regular customer for life! I took my car in for a check engine light and a fuel smell in the car. I needed it to pass emissions to get my new tabs. They put a new fuel pump in and now my gas gauge works backwards. I took it back and told them it leaks oil, the check engine light is still on and the gas gauge works backwards. Between the two visits I spent a little over $1900. They told me I needed a turbo and other work that would be about $7500 and couldn't guarantee the check engine light would be gone. I took my car to another mechanic and he fixed it for $100. I now have my new tabs and no check engine light. read more

Long 2-month story short... * Surprise location mis diagnosed my vehicle and refused to amicably resolve it. * Removed my vehicle after Ryan (manager) verbally assaulted me in the office over a conversation he had with my brother on the phone. My brother pointing out flaws in the diagnostic test and Ryan became EXTREMLY defensive and offended resulting in Ryan telling me off when I picked up my vehicle. (Incidents were on 2-3-23 at 4:00 p.m. and on 4-13-23 at 2:00 pm I hope these videos will be reviewed by Sun Devil Corporate office) * When I got the vehicle home, I mysteriously had a transmission leak. (No indications of this leak prior to taking it to Surprise Sun Devil) I contacted Ryan (Manager) and Anthony (in office) the next day to which they both indicated they were not responsible and had no idea what I was talking about. * Took my vehicle to Midas on 83rd ave, was treated with the utmost respect and dignity, they walked me through every inch of the diagnostic and confirmed the issue was the lifters not the rear internal cylinder Sun Devil was trying to convince me of. I appreciate their dedication and service. * Ryan (Manager) REFUSED to refund the $175.00 diagnostic fee (which is part of their satisfaction policy) after I provided the Midas diagnostic and fix for my vehicle. * I contacted the Sun City Sun Devil location to retrieve the corporate number in hopes to resolve this mis diagnosis amicably and ended up speaking with Craig the Regional Manager.Craig listened, understood my concern, and resolved my issue in less than 10 minutes. I felt heard and grateful he chose to do the right thing. Per Sun Devils policy he will be sending me a check in the mail. Clutch in car was acting up, brought car in thinking I'd have to get it replaced. Asked for an oil change too while it was there. After several mechanics took it for a test drive and found no problem. Changed oil and swapped out corroded battery contacts. I say 5 because some shops would have just changed out the clutch even if they found no dramas just to charge you a massive bill. Honesty these days is greatly appreciated. Staff was nice.
