Always easy to schedule an appointment and friendly service. Definitely a better experience than working with the dealer.

I had my car towed to Sun Devil after it died on me for the third time. By the time it made it to Sun Devil it started fine and they were unable to find the cause. They test drove it multiple times but could not replicate the issue and it was unclear what could be causing it. Since they were unable to find the cause they didn't charge me anything. A week later the check engine light came on so I took it back in hopes they could now locate the cause. They ran the codes and found what they believed to be the issue. Since my car is fairly new they were not able to perform one of the pieces of the repair (resetting the computer). Rather than try and do part of it they suggested it would be best to take it to the Ford dealership and again charged me nothing. A lot of shops would have taken full advantage of the situation and charged me as much as possible, but they made sure to do what was best for the situation. Brought my daughter's Toyota Matrix in at 4 PM, since the local dealer didn't have any mechanics still working! The car was making a weird noise underneath. We were checked in by Josh, who was very polite, and they had it up on the lift in 5 minutes. Turned out to be a broken clip so they secured it with a bolt and sent us on our way at no cost. They can always get us in timely and prepared for the wait time. Doesn't feel as though they are selling unneeded repairs. I drive it here from Chandler because of the great job they always do. Even just for an oil change! I have recommended to many others. read more

There are 3 things we look for in auto repair 1.) Honesty (don't try to sell us things we don't need and fix things that aren't broken) 2.) Expertise (know what you are doing) 3.) Reasonable Prices - in that order. In our opinion Sun Devil Auto at this location excels in all three. We have been using them for both of our cars for years. Most recently we had to have an older car towed there for a problem that was hard to diagnose. Tony kept us informed every step of the way and we know that what they were telling us was true because the previous owner knew the car very well and agreed. He was very friendly and very professional. Kudos Sun Devil. We were prepared for the worst but you gave us the best. read more

When I first moved here from out of state, I wondered where I was going to take my car. Needing a battery, I took it to the dealership, and got estimates for some other work (I like my 6 year old SUV a lot, and am not one of those people who needs a new car every 3 years). On the way home, I passed Sun Devil. I decided to get estimates from them. Not only did they beat the dealership by half, they educated me on transmission oil appearance. I'd just had it changed before moving here, and it was now discolored. They informed me that it's supposed to be discolored because a good transmission oil change doesn't replace it all. That could cause damage (I think I'm remembering that accurately). In any case, they didn't recommend changing it. They've taken care of all my auto work since, and hopefully for a long time to come (except of course, for the battery. I have to keep bringing that back to the dealership for a prorated warranty exchange because apparently the heat kicks the crap out of batteries here). I'm grateful to have found these guys. Since moving here, I've had to visit/inspect other garages for my job, and there are some very bad folks running other repair shops. It's made me appreciate Sun Devil even more. read more

Today (Thursday, 7/5/12) at approximately 4:30, I contacted this location and listed a few issues that I am currently having with my vehicle. I mentioned that I need to have the freon changed in my vehicle, have the oil changed and also that the vehicle creaks continually. I was told that there may not be enough time to get anything done today and was asked if I could leave my vehicle overnight. I could not, but asked if I could bring the vehicle in tonight to have the freon changed and then come back on the weekend to have everything else looked at. The individual I spoke with told me to come in as soon as possible because they close at six and were working on several things. I agreed and arrived as soon as I could, which was 5:00 PM. When I arrived, a gentleman with dark gray hair was behind the counter. He did not smile or ask how he could help me, but I explained that I called a few minutes ago and that I was experiencing the aforementioned issues. He then bluntly told me that his techs leave at five. He then asked if I could leave the vehicle overnight and I said that I couldn't and again reiterated what I was told on the phone in an attempt to get some kind of apology for driving 30 minutes out of my way. He responded, "Again, my techs leave at five. It's going to take at least an hour for an oil change." I mentioned that I might be able to bring the vehicle in on the weekend and he stated that, if I could bring the vehicle in over the weekend, I would have to leave it. After this brief conversation, he handed me the store manager's business card (which I assume is his). Given that the website doesn't state store hours, I would expected that any individual working at any Sun Devil Auto location should be held responsible for knowing the opening and closing times of the business. I also expect that my time be considered equally as important as their employees' time. Needless to say, neither of these expectations were met. Even a simple apology would have sufficed, but I was not given an apology nor was I treated as though my business is desired or appreciated. Given that I was speaking with the store manager, this was especially disappointing. As a result, I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I don't know where to start other than someone should be charged and do jail time. I just got back from Coulter Cadillac after having my wife's Escalade in Sun Devil for a quote to fix a clunk when I accelerate. Chris at Sun Devil Quoted me $1,831.22 Coulter $465.00 It turns out it's a motor mont on the engine. Sun Devils part is double the cost of the factory GM part. Sun Devil Charged me $51 to diagnose it saying it was a deal, their guy's spent over an hour looking for the problem. Coulter took 5 minutes. Sun Devil shame on you. I guess you are appropriately named. I will post on Monday the results of my brakes that need fixed where Sun Devil said It would be $1,119.13. Even though I just had them done there. Coulter is saying $150 but we'll not know for sure until I get the bill Monday. I'll be posting Monday my results. You suck Devil Auto, I wish there was old fashion justice. People STAY AWAY!!!!!!!. read more

I brought my car over because I was having problems with the my cars hood vibrating so much when I drove on the freeway that people who passed by us would roll down their window and point to our hood to make sure I knew there was something going on there! It made me very anxious to drive, especially with my 1 year old in the car because I was scared the hood would fly up and smash into my windshield or worse fly off and hurt someone else! We actually took it over to a family friend who looked at it and said "You're all good there's nothing wrong" I was a little taken back because I've seen with my own eyes the hood vibrate and heard the noise my self, so I was back on the road and there was the noise and the vibration! I called in to Sun Devil (The 8660 E Frank Loyd Wright location) and asked if they had time to take a look (because I had thought they only did oil changes)......and I was told "yeah of course bring it in we'll take a look", they scheduled me for the same day!! I drove their very anxious to hear what they would say, I got in, stopped at the front desk was checked in by their very friendly staff. I asked if I had to go with them or explain anything they said no they would just take a look! Less than 10 minutes later they came back to me and explained there are little rubber stops under the hood that were probably the cause and that he was able to readjust them and now the hood was tighter when closed! (I was so relieved!) He also mentioned to me while inspecting my car that the fender liner and under carriage skid plate were missing some screws and asked if it would be ok to screw them back in I said sure!! Took another 10 minutes but when it was done called me up to explain what he did and how the screws work......gave me my invoice: $0.00!! WHO DOES THAT! these guys do......not only were they so friendly, they really put my needs as a customer first...they addressed my concerns and went beyond that and explained what I was hearing/seeing and what needed to be done to fix the problem always ASKING before doing! I left there today with the best thing of all PEACE OF MIND. I've had the same awesome experience with these guys when coming in to do oil changes as well! They're awesome, they're honest they know what they're doing!! I know every time I come in here im placing my car in the hands of people who really care about the work they do and that they make sure the car they're working on is safe for me and my family!
