Went to Brake Masters for new brakes. Steve at the front desk was very friendly and seemed credible at first. After the inspection, Steve confirmed I needed new brakes and also suggested new rotors ($400 additional) because that's what "Audi recommends". I asked about the condition of my rotors (knowing they were perfectly fine) but Steve asked how the car was driving, as if the mechanics didn't just look at them. After pressing Steve a few times about their condition and getting indirect answers, he stated they were smooth. Awful experience! Left within 5 min of arriving there...Mike who is the Assistant Manager lacks customer service skills. I walked in and he did not even look up at me to greet me! I started out personable and said I have the coupon for the oil change here on my phone which I started to show him and he immediately said "we can only take a print out I can't take that" seriously? First of all that should have been communicated on the phone BEFORE DRIVING THERE when I spoke to Mike earlier in the morning because many people like myself do not have a printer! And I had already discussed having the coupon for $49.95 on the phone before coming in otherwise I would not have gone there. This location does not care about getting the customer's business either because when I told him I was leaving he said "that's fine there's another Brake Masters down the street". So, when I first start coming here many years ago the management was some of the best i had EVER interacted with. However, over the past couple of years the management staff has flat out been awful. The current store manager at store #148 in Scottsdale is the by far the worst yet. He lacks in several areas to be classified as a store manager and sadly I won't be returning to this location for any work. My G63 was making strange noises and kind of driving differently, so I figured why not stop by quick and see if these guys can figure it out for me. I'll admit that as a female, I have zero clue about vehicle maintenance and many places will take advantage of that. However, the store manager Richard was very welcoming and got my truck back in the shop to get checked out almost instantly. Turns out my tire pressure was really low and needed air, which they did for me. I was also concerned about something dripping from underneath, so they put it up on the lift to see. Turns out it was just the condensation from the AC. The fact they addressed all of my concerns without making me feel silly was such a relief, as I've had bad experiences in the past at other auto mechanic shops. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Manager has changed and is NOT a mechanic or familiar with car repair. Made an appointment at 8:30...for a 4 wheel alignment...they didn't touch the car but took walk ins ahead of me until I complained TWO HOURS LATER. They then took one of the walk in's cars off the rack. Over an hour later I got the car back and left..only ONE BLOCK away and the car seriously pulled to the right. I immediately went back and was told it was fine..I said drive it. They took it for a test drive and without saying anything they put it back on the rack and had their "best guy" on it. The manager came and told me he wasn't going to let go the guy who worked on my car soon because he wasn't good. WHAT? So you admit you have an employee who does CRAPPY substandard work and you are keeping him another few days.. The manager comes over sits next to me and then proceeds to tell me that my car will overheat and I'm ONE tick away from my car engine blowing. Little does he know that I had my car serviced at my dealer less than 30 days ago..the ONLY reason I came to this place was that previously it was FAST AND REASONABLE... The manager goes on to basically bash the previous manager and said he was brought in to clean things up..he then BRAGS about how his store has brought in the most revenue in the last two months..gee I wonder how? I am so happy at my visit here. I kept hearing a metal skidding noise while driving and I was going to lose my mind over it. I wasn't able to go on the highway and a bunch of different shops were either turning me away or charging just to look, however it was different here. Grant was very helpful and he cane with me in the car to hear the noise. He lifted the car and lo and behold the skid plate wasn't bolted down. Took my car to the Audi dealership for my $30k inspection last year and my brakes and rotors were recommended to be replaced in the front. As it seemed pricey to do it at the dealership I decided to check this place out. I had only lived here for less than a month so wasn't familiar with many places. I took my car in at around 4pm and I believe they closed at 5 or 5:30pm. They quotes my $1000 for all 4 generic type brand and said they can get it done before they close. Closing time came around and I was asked to get a ride home as the "piston" was out and they couldn't put the brake on and needed their "master" tech to look at it the next day. I had to Uber home. Next day by noon they called and said the fixed it and would bring it to me. Later that afternoon I went to run an errand got back home at 6pm and my parking brake light was flashing and it was telling me there was a malfunction. As they were closed I had to call the following day. As the manager Richard couldn't figure it out, he said come back again when his "master" tech was there. On Monday I decided to call the dealership and book an appointment with them to see what was wrong with my car. They broke 2 of the sensors when taking off the brakes. I had to reorder them and replace them which took over 3 weeks to get in from overseas and $2300 to replace at the dealership. I contacted Brake Masters the whole time who referred me to corporate. Needless to say nothing was ever done. Timothy and Jeff in corporate never replied to my emails. I have the documentation from the dealership that indicates it was a third party that replaced the brakes that broke the sensors as there is nothing I could have done to do so, and just had my car inspected less than a a couple weeks before that at the dealership. I have plenty of opportunities to request reimbursement for what they broke, unfortunately it fell on deaf ears thinking as a woman I would go away. Well I certainly don't have an extra $2300 to replace something that wasn't broken before they broke it and now how that go through the process of small claims court and serve their attorney representative in Tucson. Not only did their tech break what wasn't broken, cost me $3300 for "my brakes and rotors", out of a car for 3 weeks, and a corporate company that completely ignored me even after providing them with all the dealership documentation stating it was their fault. I would never recommend such a place to anyone. read more

My brakes had been squeaking and I had another appointment in this plaza so I made an appointment for them to check them out. I was able to make an appointment online and when I arrived they took my car right in. 10 minutes after arriving they came out and explained what was going on and gave me options on what I could do. There was no high-pressure push, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable and when I opted to replace my rear brakes I found that they were also reasonably priced. I'm always wary of 5 star reviews at auto repair places for some reason but these guys truly knocked it out of the park with their fast, friendly and efficient service so they earned it. As I sat waiting I saw this same professional, friendly, no pressure service demonstrated countless times. By the way, the chairs are comfy in the waiting room, there is a tv, a clean restroom, free WiFi and coffee. read more

Used to be a great shop, no longer. Current manager is difficult to deal with. An A/C blow fan installed there in March failed - turns out it had not been properly seated and secured in place. Manager Michael first claimed there was no record in the system of work performed to the vehicle. When subsequently shown an invoice, he denied there was any A/C work listed, with the other work performed. Pressing the issue further lead to a confrontation. Absolutely the BEST location for vehicle repair in the City. My Porsche was giving me havoc and I went and spoke to Shaun. He was kind, caring and assisted me in finding the best course of action with my vehicle issues. The dealership did not have the parts so I was able to have it shipped and repaired at this location. The staff is Friendly and very informative and priced perfectly. I did not feel like I was ever being charged excessively more or felt pressured in my car repair decisions. Buyer beware... We are done using this company for its lack of integrity, lack of professionalism and poor business practices. Our family has been going here for our 4 cars for the past few years. I called to have their Royal Flush treatment performed on two of our cars along with an oil change on another vehicle. I spoke with their assistant manager and he stated that the transmission fluid could not be changed on the one car (since they do have the capability to do so because it is sealed), and he would take off $100 from their Royal Flush special package price since they were not performing that part of the package. When I went to pick up the first car, they are charging me way more than what was agreed upon. Their assistant manager, James, told me the other assistant manager I spoke with had no authority to promise the $100 off the package for not doing the transmission fluid change. He was not going to honor what was previously discussed when I made the appointments. After some heated and completely unprofessional banter from him, he begrudgingly agrees to give me the price that was originally promised from the other assistant manager. They also ended up doing an oil change on this first car and when I asked why I wasn't given the website price for that, James tells me that they will not honor two specials on the same day. I asked him if I would have brought the car back tomorrow and had the oil changed would I have received the website price, he said yes. Needless to say, I canceled the appointments for the two other vehicles for the next day and will not be coming back here ever again. read more

I was pleasantly pleased with the staff here. They're way better than Just Brakes! I brought my car here because whenever I stepped on the brakes my steering wheel would shake like a British Nanny. I figured I would need new rotors since it has been about 4 or 5 years since I had them replaced. Anyway, I brought it here at 3pm on a Friday not expecting them to be able to do repairs...but I figured they could at least point me in the right direction. The gentleman at the front greeted me and welcomed me to Brake Masters as it was my first time there. I explained what was going on and he told me he'd have a technician look and call me with what was wrong. 30 min later they called and explained that my rotors were warped. He said he measured them and they were able to machine them and that my total cost out the door would be $123 and some change. Two things..... 1. I greatly appreciated the honesty. I went in there thinking I needed new rotors. They could have VERY easily sold me new rotors to get more $$$ but they didn't. They were honest and did what needed to be done. 2. I liked the "out the door" pricing. That set a proper expectation for me and made it so there were no surprises. Is $123 expensive for machining rotors? I don't know nor do I care because of the great service I received. I also appreciated that they were able to inspect my vehicle AND do the repairs without an appointment and only 2 1/2 hours before they closed. read more

I got there at 4:45 When I told him who I was he looked at me like he had just smoked a bag of weed with his eyes glazed over. I needed a battery for my 2017 Cevy Silverado so I called Brake Masters at Scottsdale and Shea they quoted me a price of $90. bucks plus labor over the phone but when I showed up the jacked up the price to $150.00 so I naturally voiced my concern and asked why I was told 90 bucks over the phone they then told me they could give me a battery for 115.00 installed and I told them to do it because my truck was dead without the battery. Once my truck was apart they then told me it was going to be 190.00 bucks and when I challenged that price I was told I could have my truck back and they wouldn't do anything to help me get it started or removed from their lot, they had me over a barrel and didn't give a damn. They behaved arrogantly and without concern for my needs nor did they care to try to work with me or try to explain why they waited until they had me over the barrel to finally say what the real price would be. They knew they were going to screw me all along. DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE TO BRAKE MASTERS FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN AN OIL CHANGE YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF LIKE I WAS AND THEY DON'T CARE. They must earn commissions from the total amount they can get away with ripping you off for. read more

I have been using this company to work on my cars for several years and have been happy with the service. I recently went in for an oil change and called in to make sure they could get me right in since I was going to wait at the store. When I got there the staff was all new faces and the person working the counter said they had 4 cars in front of me so it would take 2 hours. In addition when I went to pay I showed the counter worker my online coupon and he said that I needed to show the coupon before they did the work-I said that have always honored the coupon price no matter when I showed it-He said this was the new policy and they won't honor the coupon. The final straw was when I got home I checked the air pressure in my tires and it was very low-they used to check and add air. I am no longer going to this shop. read more

I've used this Brake Masters location many times over the years. Amazingly, I have not once felt that I was being ripped off, a feeling common with most auto repairs. This visit was for a warranty check in advance of selling a car. It was a great a opportunity for Brake Masters to push for some non warranty work on us. They did not. Awesome. I also requested an express oil change. I forgot to present my coupon at checkout and then noticed that they had applied the discount anyway. Even more awesome. Also, I did not have the paperwork for the original brake repair done years ago in Tucson. I called in advance and they were able to look it up our warranty and they honored it without any hassle. I was hearing the typical sound when brakes need to be replaced (the squealing sound). Brought my car into Brake Masters shop and was helped by Shawn (Not sure if I spelled his name right). He was super helpful. Didn't give me some outrageous price and tell me I had to get my brakes replaced right at the moment. He was straight up with me telling me that I'm nearing that time and that I would need to get my rotors replaced as well, but told me that I should be good for a little bit longer but if I start to hear the sound more and more frequent to come in and they will get it done for me.
