The food today was horrible. I ordered a large Jerk Chicken. Why was there all the backbone parts of thighs in my plate and a dry ass leg. The leg was so little I thought it was a wing.. Sun city is trult one of my favorites here in Atlanta as a Brooklyn Girl. I eat porridge from them at minimum once a week. They even inspire me to want to start making it again at home. Their food is always good as hell. And the people there are nice as hell and always willing to explain dishes and give you your food exactly how you want it. Which is rare. It's attached to the end of a gas station where the boys do a lot of illegal things... but they are the sunlight on the block. Park closest to their door... even if there isn't a parking spot. Just park close there. Meals to get: Cornmeal Porridge - small or large. It's sweet. Light and get 2 pieces of hard dough bread with it. Oats/Banana Oats/Peanut Oats porridge - this porridge is flavor heaven. Their Oats are so drinkable... same thing. Get it with hard dough bread. Calalloo and Saltfish: this meal is everything they use the RIGHT amount of pepper to give it a kick. I usually get mine with plantain and hard dough bread. Fried dumpling when bread isn't available. Lunch Fried Chicken meal: fried chicken (soo good and juicy) with rice and peas and oxtail gravy and salad. I love that they have salad as an option when you don't want cabbage. Stew Chicken: literally the same things as above sometimes with cabbage. The food here is authentic and so are the vibes. It's always worth it to stop in and spend money for Good ass jamaican food. read more

I visited this business today. I ordered, Brown Stew Shrimp & Curry Pepper Shrimp. Both w/ rice and peas and cabbage. Got no receipt... price on board for Curry Pepper Shrimp is $13; was charged $14 . Next music super loud in this small confined space; just turn down a tad please. And LAST, young lady in front taking orders and fixing them.. If she going to do both, some type of washing or sanitizing of the hands HAS to happen especially if she's going to be touching money & FOOD! I guess with this restaurant when you order in you get a better experience. I ordered a large oxtail and received 2 boney pieces of meat! The rest of my plate was loaded with spoiled rice and peas and potatoes which took the place of the oxtail. I called in to let them know about the order and they basically told me I was lying about the portion I received, argued with me for about 10 mins on the phone with no resolution, just "no refunds" . Meanwhile I'm starving and have to figure out something else to eat. What a disgrace. For $20 I expect more than 2.5 pieces of oxtail. The customer service is horrible, Caribbean men ready to put an American woman in her place telling me what I'm not gonna do and what I'm going to do. They will never get my business don't care how good the food is when the service is horrible. Mad I had to give 1 star! read more

This restaurant has the rudest customer service. I understand that Oxtails are very expensive but you're charging customers $14 for a plate and only give them three pieces of oxtail. They deserve only one star. Don't get me wrong the food is great. But they need to fire the young lady that wear her wig always twisted. She has the nastiest Jamaican accent ,very dismissive,Very condescending and throws the food at you. She's very rude!! The heavyset light skin lady is a very nice lady. I got to say I really enjoyed my food. I was looking for something tasty, yet affordable and I said "Why not try this place". I saw they had a few vegan/vegetarian options so I wanted to give a try. I am glad I did. I ordered the Tofu Brown Stew Small ($8.00) and the Veggie Plate Small ($6.50). Also a veggie patty ($2.00) I was pleasantly surprised of the flavors bursting in that and I would definitely try again. I really enjoyed the tofu brown stew. The tofu was flavorful, not silky and had a nice chewable texture. The Plaintains was great. It was sweet combination to add with the rice and peas. Those are extra to get, because of the wait he gave them to me for free. Overall everything was great. You can't beat good food for this price. Definitely will come back again! Thanks! read more

Ordered Delivery via Postmates and was shocked that they offered flexibility on the sides. I ordered A Brown Stew Chicken with a side of French Fries because my son has a reaction to Rice & Peas. I ordered a Jerk Chicken Meal w/ a salad. Food Arrived, and was wondering why there was a smalls containers. THEY PLACED THE MEAT SEATED ON THE RICE & PEAS! Me and my son were LIVID and I contacted the restaurant and they told me they switched it out without consideration to the paying customer. It could be a lawsuit, but I settled with getting my son's hungry quelled. My Jerk Chicken Meal came with no dressing for my salad. They just throw stuff together. All in all, if you are going to offer sides, you cannot discriminate on the side chosen from your own menu whether it's traditional side or not. It's listed on your menu, HONOR the request or you shouldn't be in the food business or falsely advertised that your a CARIBBEAN/AMERICAN restaurant. Better luck next time... or just take the French Fries off the menu altogether and leave Festival for the starch of choice for a Caribbean restaurant. read more

There was however, an ample amount of very dry rice and peas though. The chicken was not spicy AT ALL, it was just some regular dry grilled chicken with no sauce. Called to ask about the portion size of this so-called large and was told that the one cut up leg quarter i recieved(as described by the staff) WAS their idea of a large dinner. I was searching for Jerk Tofu on Door Dash and came upon this place. They did not offer jerk tofu so I "settled" for brown stew tofu. Best decision I've ever made. The tofu was amazing and the plate was huge. There was enough for me and my daughter to share and still have leftovers. I also ordered a veggie patty coco bread. These items were also amazing. The plantains weren't good though. They were that weird potato texture. My friend said they were probably microwaved which was underwhelming buy everything else was amazing. Seems like the only large portion of my plate was the rice which is dry and hard, like it was left over and overheated when re-warmed. The chicken... I received 3 tiny chicken drummette legs and maybe a third of a thigh. The sauce is served on the side. But I received no dressing for the salad. The plantain was ample. I'm sure I probably have 1 and a half in my small box. For $2 that's not bad. Overall Ima eat it but I doubt I'll be returning. read more

I have high hopes for this place the food is good however how does a lunch jerk burger come with no fries they are charging 6 bucks and its a special so u should get what u normally get with it. There is a women who works here and she doesn't give much food at all I came twice in a row she does the same thing. The guy with dreads is the one to go to here he gives u what u pay for. Really wanted to give this restaurant a 3.5 but since I couldn't I opted for four stars. I had the jerk chicken with cabbage, rice and peas. This was superior to the curry and stew chicken I tasted. The jerk was very seasoned. I loved the sauce (wish I got some on the side). Although, the jerk was good I still had better. The portion sizes are large but it didn't matter because most pieces were burnt and dried out to the point you couldn't eat it all in all it was about 7-8 pieces of chicken only 4 were good to eat. The rice and peas were just how I like it , and the cabbage was literally the best I ever had from a restaurant. The curry I tasted was alright (lacked flavor) , and the stew chicken had absolutely no flavor (cooked perfectly though). I would return for the jerk and cabbage but not for a while. read more
