I ordered the oxtails, rice and peas, and it came with cabbage and plantains. I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese. The oxtails were good but not good enough to go back. The rice and peas were not fresh, like they just reheated it up from yesterday. The plantains were cut too thick and tasted like cardboard. . The mac and cheese was good. Ended up walking out of this restaurant, not because of the food, but because of the way the employees were being treated. While waiting, I heard who I assume was the owner loudly shouting at and berating staff, and the entire atmosphere immediately became uncomfortable. It genuinely sounded disrespectful and degrading. You could literally feel the tension in the room. No matter how good the food might be, I personally can't enjoy a place where employees are being spoken to like that in front of customers. It honestly made me feel bad for the workers. People are trying to do their jobs, and being humiliated or yelled at publicly is unnecessary and unprofessional. And honestly, maybe this is part of why the customer service felt so off. If management treated staff with more respect and patience, maybe customers would have a much better experience too. Hope the employees there are treated better behind closed doors, because what I witnessed was enough to make me leave before even ordering. read more

The first time I ate here the food was really good, but it has gone downhill since then. I've had the curry chicken and stewed chicken from this place. Yesterday the stewed chicken tasted like they had added bbq sauce to it and it was not good. For a side I ordered the mac and cheese and it was 100% Kraft mac and cheese that they added sliced cheese on top and baked it. Smh! read more

We hadn't been here in a while. It's located in a storefront connected to a gas station on Covington Highway. When we entered, we were barely greeted by anyone. The server behind the counter was pretty robotic, just fulfilling our orders. I got a small curry chicken , and Wifey got a small stew chicken. The meals came with rice, peas, and cabbage. Unlike most Jamaican restaurants, they didn't have plantains. The cashier's demeanor was just as dry as the server's. One thing I did notice was that the dining area was very clean. We packed up our food and headed home. Everything looked good and fresh. These ladies are EXTREMELY RUDE! The customer service SUCKS! The older gentleman there speaks to each and every customer that enters the restaurant, however the two young ladies with the bleached skin have ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS WORKING WITH CUSTOMERS! I never got a chance to visit @firesiderestaurant1 during Atlanta @blackrestaurantweek; and my mom always mentions seeing a line for @firesiderestaurant1 everytime she passed by so, today we checked finally checked it out. Pros: The food is great. We ordered a medium oxtail and brown stewed chicken. For a medium serving, the portion was more than enough. The stewed chicken had a little spice to it and a different taste then what I am used to. But, like I said...it was good. The oxtails were perfect, just how I like them. I hate to do this but... Cons: I didn't receive the best customer service at all. The server had a dismissive demeanor and the cashier was on a personal call gossiping the entire time she checked me out. I've been going to fireside Jamaican restaurant for well over 9 years I us3 to live across the street from the restaurant. I moved over 20 miles away , 8 years ago and I continue to go back-and-forth but unfortunately today will be the last time I go there. I ordered a medium jerk chicken and all the little pieces together only equal one small Piece of chicken. The chicken was dry and wasn't fresh the same for the rice and peas. The cabbage was undercooked and the two itty bitty pieces of plantains I had I could barely even taste those. I suspect that Firesode Restaurant had run out of food and was trying to stretch what they had through the end of the Sunday dinner hour. They are abiding by CDC restraints: only 6 patrons in at a time, plexi shield to protect staff and patrons, and markers on the floor to guide customers to a safe distance. Their menu is full of Caribbean favorites. I love their breakfast, it's hearty. Whatever I order for breakfast I have to get a fried dumpling. Lunch and dinner you can't lose from vegetarian plates, to fall off the bone oxtails. They have an array of juices, desserts and patties to compliment any dish. Staff is knowledgeable and neat. Ep. 102 of AntlantaEats 3 locations in the city. When I arrived, I saw the lines packed so I already knew this ish was gonna be bussin . The Oxtails was very delicious to the tee. I also tasted the King Fish. What I loved most about the dish was they didn't hold back on the spices (onions/peppers had that vinegar mix, it hit so great!) So this restaurant came up on my feed on Instagram as one of the best Jamaican spots in Atlanta so had to give it a try. With Carribeam roots I'm very judgemental when it comes to carribean food... is this the best in Atlanta ...I personally don't think so but it was good. The brown stew chicken gravy was the bomb.. the chicken needed a tad bit of salt so did the curry chicken. The chicken patty was good.. the oxtail they let me taste was tough. Everything about this place screams good authentic food me and my husband like this place at least once a week.

This was my first time in this location and the food was absolutely amazing! I had no idea that I was missing out on an amazing celebration! My tastebuds were embarking on a new taste journey and the food was well worth the price. I had the red snapper, rice and peas and cabbage. This is a must try place. You will not be disappointed. This place is convenient not to far from me and I absolutely loved the vibe when I walked in. Customer Service was on point. Everyone had on mask definitely practicing social distancing. I love the fact that the food is right in front of you so you can see what you want to order. I have a jamaican food from a few restaurants in the Stone Mountain Area but the food is usually missing something. This place is truly the definition of hit or miss. Now, it doesn't even seem like True Jamaicans are running it. Everyone in there sounds African. Completely different crew than pre-covid. You come to early, they have nothing ready and you can sit there hours waiting. You come too late, they claim everything is done/sold out. I have yet to find the sweet spot or best time between 10am-11am to catch the breakfast items I want fresh and available. Taste varies based on the day. Not consistent as most JA restaurants in GA aren't. They open at 7am. Why at 9:45am is there no fried dumpling ready? This is often and I keep trying. Then if you come any later, they say it's finished. I only eat the breakfast here. The lunch and dinner are terrible. I can only recommend the porridge and fried dumplings if made fresh and you "catch" it. Every time I've had their lunch or dinner it's trash. Try or revisit at your own wasted money risk. I noticed that although there more West Indians in Atlanta than they can export there still a shortage of great spots. I read other yelpers past reviews about this place being hit or miss, but so many Caribbean spots aren't enough open on Sunday's and the one I heard good things about closed 2 hours early. I decided to check fireside out. Ordered to snapper which was so good , the peas and rice was aight (just ok). The oxtail was good I got the white rice with that cause who can mess up white rice. The curry shrimp my friend said they enjoyed. The line was so long though even after we got our food the line still was long. I def try it again, but someone has to tell me what's up with Caribbean restaurants in Atlanta and giving you all that gravy on your food and this coming from a gravy man.
