    Oxtails

This is the only place I get my oxtails from in Atlanta I drive 40 minutes to get here and everytime it's worth the distance! The staff is super nice especially the owner, if you're ever in the area give Aunty Vannie a try you won't regret it.

Rice & peas, cabbage, plantains with jerk chicken

Aunty Vannie's is my go to Jamaican restaurant. I've fallen in love with Jamaican cuisine because of this place. The authentic grilled jerk chicken and oxtail plates are my absolute favorite meals. The service is great, love interacting with the cashier's. I definitely recommend.

Thank God for Uber eats! Theres a lot of places that I would not even know existed if it wasnt for them. I am always skeptical about trying new Jamaican restaurants bc the flavors can be vastly different and I'm kind of spoiled by my favorite restaurant. I ordered from here anyways and am so glad I did! The food was good. Portions are huge And the price is right. I ordered the jerk salmon and shrimp with cabbage & rice n peas. It could have used a little more spice/jerk seasoning on the seafood. The cabbage could have been cooked down a little more bc it was just too crunchy for my liking, but I was very pleased! I will order from here again in the near future!

Yeees my yute! I finally found that true Jamaican cooking that I grew up with in Jamaica here in Atlanta! Nothing like some good food, vibes and people and it's all here. The ackees and salt fish with food is just like mi granny used to make on Saturday mornings. I also highly recommend the oxtails, they are AMAZING! So if you are looking for that true Jamaican flavor...Aunty Vannie never fails to deliver!

Small portions for the price. The jerk chicken was burnt and the rice/peas was not cooked done. It was al dente. Couldn't eat it and threw it away.

I have been here so many times for the same thing - the salmon plate . I've only been disappointed once and that's when my plantains were not soft - about 8 months ago . Other than that the food is always hot and fresh . The staff is friendly and quick . The area is also clean inside of the building.

    a bowl of soup

I love black owned businesses and that is why I stopped by this one. It was actually a recommendation! Unfortunately, as you can see a twist tie was mixed into my soup!!! Thank God I did not swallow!! Im commenting because when I took it back to the restaurant!! I was told by the owner it happens sometimes which is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable!!. I shared this meal with multiple parties and bought more then just this! We must do better! She barely wanted to give my money back smh!

Our server was really nice and helped explain the menu to us because we had questions for sure. For food: I got a beef patty and skillet corn bread while my friend had a dish with green bananas. I thought the beef patty was good but the corn bread was a bit hard although the berry jam did make it a little softer. My friend thought her dish was just alright. The ambiance for the place was great and I enjoyed the vibe. But the food was just alright.

I heard mostly positive things about this restaurant from a few family members, so I was curious to check it out. This Caribbean/Southern fusion spot is located as the anchor of a strip mall with other restaurants next door. The great thing is that there is plenty of parking. We came on a Saturday evening; thankfully it was not crowded, so we were able to sit down immediately. Food: I ordered the stewed chicken wings which comes with plantains and jasmine rice. I also ordered a side of roasted brussel sprouts. The wings were very good, falling off the bone tender. I also loved the flavoring of the rice, and the plantains were perfectly sweet. I was not a big fan of the brussel sprouts. They had a thick honey sauce on them that was overpowering, and they were very soft in texture. The positive side is that they give you a ton of food for the price. Service: There weren't many staff working this evening from what I could see. Our server greeted us promptly and checked on us several times before we ordered food. Once we ordered our food, it honestly went down hill. It just took extremely long to get anyone's attention for help. It also took close to 30 mins just to get our check. When the check came, they initially said they couldn't split it and added an automatic 20% gratuity. On their site, it says they do that for parties of 4 or more, but we were only a party of 3. The manager let the server split the check, but they would not remove the gratuity. I always tip well, so it wasn't the end of the world, it was just the principle for me. While I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, I might consider checking them out again for brunch.

I am also Caribbean myself, so I have a good idea what certain foods like Jamaican, Mexican, Cuban, Haitian, Puerto Rican, Dominican etc. should be tasting like. I hate to write negative reviews, because this men (the owner) was so sweet, kind and the service was great. Unfortunately, when we arrive the place is really dirty. We went there because one of my friends loves the turkey wings there and she recommended it. We order turkey plate, cabbage, sweet plantain, rice &peas and jerk chicken. I was afraid to consume the food and get some sort of poisoning. When I bent over to take a look at the food it did not look good. I asked myself are people really eating this? Then I looked in the back and the kitchen was also dark and a dirty mess. Mountains of dirty pots and pans. I said fk it, let's see what this is all about. See my receipt attached. Sad to say we took a bite of everything, and we ended up throwing it ALL away. Had to go spend more money to buy something else to eat. I do NOT recommend this place at all. I'm sure at one point his food was fire years ago. Also, inspections are critical to restaurant business and OUR HEALTH. I'm not sure he has had one since 2024.

I spent $43 (including a drink), and nothing about this meal was worth it. First red flag--there was a big barrel grill, but no smoky jerk smell at all. If you know real jerk, that aroma should hit you instantly. That alone should've told me everything. The jerk chicken had no smoke flavor whatsoever. It tasted pre-made and reheated. Jerk is supposed to be bold, smoky, and full of flavor--this wasn't that. The jerk wasn't jerking. The salmon was extremely salty--more like salt fish than anything enjoyable. The cabbage? Also overly salty. And the "mac and cheese"... I don't even know what that was. It looked like plain pasta with a yellow sauce. No creaminess, no baked texture, and the taste was slightly sweet in a strange way. The mac definitely wasn't macking. To make it worse, the food was cold. And I wasn't the only one--multiple people at the event were saying the same thing and talking about how bad the food was. That alone should be a sign that something needs to change. You definitely lost potential customers that day. I don't mind paying for good food, but this felt like paying for shortcuts. If you're representing your business at an event, the quality should reflect your best--not this. Very disappointing experience and left a very bad taste in my mouth.

It was a Friday night, so it was pretty packed when we first got there. We put our names down, and then grabbed a drink at the bar. There was outdoor seating that was available, so we grabbed a seat. They have so many different tiki cocktails that you can choose from. They are mostly made of rum, but they have a few other ones that are made with different alcohols. Me and my wife both got our own drinks. Hers was a special Valentine's Day themed drink that was on the menu, and mine was one of the tequila/mezcal tiki drinks. Both tasted really good! The presentation was just as good too! You aren't limited to these though, it's a full bar, so you can get whatever you want. They also have a few food options, but very limited. Our bartender, Heather, was super nice as well. My wife had asked (when I went to the restroom) if they did anything for birthdays, since my birthday was a few days prior. She did this cool fire presentation and gave us two little slushie shots. Awesome bartender for sure! SOS is a great place to go for some really fun drinks.
