Happened upon Sun Auto when one of my tires went flat one Sat morning. Great customer service and they put on my spare free of charge. Had another issue the following week (faulty alternator) and Sun Auto diagnosed the issue and ordered/replaced the part in short order and at a reasonable cost. If you go to this place for anything other than a State Inspection or maybe tires, you'll regret your decision! Recently paid them to conduct an engine swap in a GMC Yukon and paid out the nose for poor, at best, service. Other than taking 3-4 times longer, they charged for parts we had in the back of the vehicle...they wanted their markup for the parts, or parts said to be missing, but were with the vehicle when it was transferred to them. Come to find out later, there were critical parts that were not replaced causing additional issues. One such was the harmonic balancer that eventually wore the front seal and created a severe oil leak...approximately one quart of oil per 100 miles. Earlier, about a year and a half back, I had them change the transmission fluid and filter in my Sierra 1500, to only discover the transmission experienced difficulty properly shifting at a high rate of speed...similar to driving over the rumble strips on the highway. You've been warned! Stay away from this place, at least the one on RR 620 in Round Rock for vehicle repairs/maintenance!!! read more

Avoid Sun Auto! Sun Auto charges double what you'd pay elsewhere. They act more like salesmen than mechanics, preying on customers who don't know the true cost of parts. Their labor fees are three times higher than necessary, even more than mechanics in California. What set off alarm bells for me? A $100 charge for an air filter--something that costs around $50, with a 15-minute labor time. While I believe in paying for quality service, their extreme price gouging feels like a scam. The worst part? They wanted to charge $695 to replace a radiator hose--while already working on the radiator! For reference, a hose costs around $50. I consulted multiple mechanics about my bill, and every single one told me to run--which I would have, if my car had been drivable. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere! read more

Overall a decent shop, and the work performed seems to be done adequately. However, that is the key.... work that is Actually completed. My last visit was for a simple oil change and tire rotation. And according to carfax sun auto reported they completed an oil change AND tire rotation. Unfortunately when I got home I realized my one wheel that has a small curb rash mark on it was still in the same location, left front, indicating the tires were not rotated. So I called the shop and the person who answered proceeded to let me know that they will sometimes not rotate tires that are wearing evenly such as mine. I have been working on and around cars for many years, including tire shops, and this is not how Maintaining even tire wear works. To acknowledge the minimal effort made to recover, The person at sun auto said I could drive back and they would complete the rotation if I desired, and he also stated that the rotation is always noted on the receipt by default but not always completed. 1) why would I drive back to a shop that lies about work completed? 2) my time is also valuable, so offering to complete work by having me waste another 2 hours of my day (minimum) is not a solution what so ever. Those 2 hours are worth $100 of my daily rate. 3) sun auto lied directly to my face and then lied to carfax by saying they completed work that was never done. In addition, I was verbally told that my front brakes were at 6mm and my rear at 3mm so I should consider rear replacement at my next service. And I 100% agree, if those numbers are true, but on the receipt I have, it says all brake pads measured at 8mm. So either someone is lying to me or they are not capable of performing their basic job functions at a reasonable level. Either way, I had been here a few times and was hopeful to find a good and reliable auto shop, unfortunately this place is NOT it. read more

First time at Sun Auto Service. Great experience! I was in for an oil change. Rhett and Colton was very professional and super helpful throughout the whole process. They also find that my radiator coolant leaked and it was super low. I couldn't get it fixed right there and then. Rhett explained and showed me very patiently where and how to put more coolant in and how often. Also where to get the coolant until I can get the problem fixed. It may sound not much but for someone who doesn't know anything about cars it was a big help! Thank you guys! read more

Where to start... the auto repair industry is ripe for abuse when the customer is at such a disadvantage due to lack of knowledge about cars. We go to them hoping we can trust what they say and that they actually do the work they charge us for. I took my car in with a hope of establishing a new relationship with an auto shop because I was new to this area of town. We will not be going back. I went back way too many times, received confusing or no communication, and was twice assured it was all fixed only for the problem to remain or new ones pop up!! The first time I went to pick up my car, the EXACT reason I took it in (problem A) was still happening-- before I even left the parking lot. Then a week later they had to do additional work despite telling me what it would take to fix the original problem. They already charging me for that work. They also did what all auto shops do and graciously diagnosed a completely separate issue that I agreed to fix (let's call that problem B). So when I came back the next day and was trying to explain how it felt from my perspective (brought in for prob A, they said what was wrong and how much it'd cost to fix prob A, then I paid for prob A and B, then prob A remains!) and how it looks like I got taken advantage of, I was met with a defensive employee instead of understanding. A week later, a new part, more costs (after not wanting to pay a cent more and telling them that) I went to pick up my car. As I pulled out of the lot and made two right turns, my car shook and a new light turned on (steering light)! I returned the car immediately and asked them to check the car for error codes. They checked it and no codes popped up. So I figured it was a fluke. I then proceed to slowly pull out of the parking space and my car shakes MORE and this time a new light (the engine light) came on! I left the car running and rushed back inside AGAIN and had them come see what was happening. They pulled the car back into the shop and took another half hr to fix what clearly was a product of THEIR WORK because the issues didn't exist before I brought it in a week prior. I am so disappointed with this experience. This could have been a lifelong business relationship. Most of the people we talked to there were cordial but at the end of the day what customers care about is having their car FIXED when they drive it home when you say its ready to go -- not have MORE problems. read more

June 6, 2024, I had my car service at this location because my check engine light was on. I've had my car serviced here before, was pleased with previous work done, so I had no hesitations bringing my car back to them for service. I was told the issue was with my thermostat andI gave permission for them to repair the issue as well as 2 other suggested repairs totaling $1500. Approximately 1and a half to 2 months later my check engine light comes back on. Naturally, I take it back to the shop where I had repairs done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I took it back Nick stated that since the check light wasn't on at the time of my visit that I should bring it back when it comes back on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I brought my vehicle back on 2 other dates and the check engine light issue wasn't addressed. Eventually the engine blew and needed to be replaced. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have contacted management at Sun Auto both in person, via phone, and email regarding this issue. Via phone, email, and in person I have been told this issue will ne taking care of. However, I can't get a date of resolution or status update as to where we are in the process[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My car was serviced incorrectly in June 2025. It is now February 2025 and still no reimbursement for repairs they did incorrectly which caused my cars engine to blow or lock up. I will never do business with Sun Auto again and if I were you I wouldn't either. It's great of they do the repairs correctly but if they make a mistake you the consumer are left to pay the price for a faulty repair as well as the cost of damages done as a result of that repair. read more

I went to this place for state inspection and had a real horrific experience. They intentionally punched the boot on my car. When I confronted them, they really became very nasty and used lots of profanity against me, and threatened to physically hurt me. They threatened me that they know where I live, and they have my phone number and would come after me. I have filed a police report with the Round Rock police and will take a legal action against the company. I would warn anyone, think twice before going to this place for repairs. read more

I'm a senior in high school and on November 12th around 8:45 am, I was on my way to school and had a guy on a motorcycle hit my mirror and it slammed back, causing the glass part to fall out. My car ended up being fine but I happened to pull over in the parking lot of this Sun Auto Service and I was a mess. My boyfriend drove over and just popped the mirror back in but I was still too nervous to drive, so we went inside to ask the workers if I could leave my car there for a few hours then pick it up later. They were so sweet to us!!! The manager said that we could leave the car for as long as needed free of charge (he even said "weeks if you need to!" and it was so nice) and they offered us donuts and coffee before we left. It's so obvious that the employees care about everyone, not just their customers!! I didn't catch their names but I wish that I had because they made the situation so much better for me. I've never had work done on a car here before but I'll definitely recommend it to anyone who does, because if the service is this good for people who aren't even customers, I bet it's amazing for people who are! read more
