Let me tell you about my experience with Cedar Park Sun. Two guys in particular, Austin and Andrew. I'm a poor guy struggling with terminal illness and I live on $1500/mo. After having my very talented nephew repair some steering issues, on my 27 year old Honda there were a few issues he didn't have the equipment to take care of it with. Austin and Andrew searched high and low for good parts and got the price manageable. They were polite, compassionate, helpful, didn't try to sell me things I didn't need and are just all are If my very capable nephew can't do the job, Austin, Andrew and Sun will be my Cedar Park go to mechanics. I asked for a full service oil change but received the bare minimum. I don't understand why they did not rotate my tires. When people are willing to pay for the best service, they should receive the best. What happened to the nice men who use to work the front counter. They were great. A day after talking to the GM Wes, and stating to him that I did not want to talk to anyone at Sun Auto. He specifically has the manager Adrian call us at 7:30 am and ask my husband to take the vehicle in to the shop. My husband was walking out the door to go to work. We had already left the vehicle at there shop for so many day's to be fixed and was not fixed and was taken back several times. And we had moved around several jobs to be able to make the money to pay these people, and my husband is still working every day with not even a Saturday off. Now, they want us to change all of our job schedule to take the vehicle back to them for another 10 days. We, didn't work for over 3 moths and now this. And to mention, the day I posted this review the customer service person Jenny had answered the review " stated my son" then when I uploaded the pictures we noticed that she took off what she had put on there. My son stated! Mom they took off what they had answer you when they saw the pictures. How funny it's removed. Also on Saturday when pulling in from work me and the neighbor are sitting outside and my husband turns in the driveway and we hear the rack and pinion go click click. When Adrian said he drove it and didn't hear anything. Come on. If u look up our accounts we have paid Sun Auto thousands and thousands of dollars, and years of loyalty. But, this has really ended it. With the way I have been treated by talking to the GM, and him not returning my call himself and calling unknown caller I'd, then removing the the message that Jenny put on there after seeing the pictures I uploaded. I really think I need my money back and need to speak to someone higher up then a GM. And maybe the Better Business Bureau. read more

Want to take your car somewhere where they tell you they'll call you in a few hours, sit home (carless) waiting for them to call. Finally call them be put on hold for ten minutes then have them act like you're bothering them? Like being talked to like you're dumb? Want to the same pushy unfriendly person tell you you need almost a grand in work on your car and that it's unsafe to drive if you don't do it right away only to take your car elsewhere and find out they were completely WRONG and you almost blew money you don't have on parts you don't need? If those things sound appealing to you then by-all-means race to Sun Auto because that is what I got. I almost paid $650.00 to have my car "fixed" when what it needed was under 50 bucks! The number one lesson I learned here is. Don't be bullied by a fast talking know-it-all mechanic. Get a second opinion. It might save you a lot of money. Also, customer service and actually caring about your customers goes a long way and is the key to repeat business. Maybe one day these guys will figure that out. Terrible Place. Period. I took my vehicle there on 7/15/2013 because of a radiator hose needed to be replaced. They called and gave me a $3500 estimate to replace Head assembly, gasket, bolt set, etc...... I check the oil dip stick and saw no radiator fluid in the oil, to their complete shock and surprise, then I took my vehicle to Southwest Automotive in Oak hill, they retested the engine and found NOTHING wrong with my head gaskets. I got my cooling system flushed and serviced and I am absolutely disgusted with the way Sun Auto Service store #72 in Austin, TEXAS tried to defraud and steal from me. They performed a service on my car and charged me for something that I could have done without and then they were smug about it and gave me a know it all attitude on a vehicle that I had been driving for years and knew more about than they did. I am very disappointed in this place, their customer service seems to be great and transparent but is completely the opposite. Sure everyone is super friendly but its because they want to build up your confidence in them so that they can recommend unnecessary auto work with outrageous prices. I originally started visiting this place for the oil changes. 18.95 for an oil change with a free tire balance is a steal nowadays. The guys in the shop were super friendly and efficient. So since I had such a great experience with the oil changes, when I needed brake work done I decided to go there. Now I've heard stories about them overcharging in the past, including from my dad but I decided to check it out for myself. My brakes had been squeaking and it was odd because I just had a ton of brake work done last summer. I drop my car off and head to work. They call me and inform me that my front rotors are completely shot and that my brake pads are 50% gone and that the total would be $330.00. Seeing how I am a female and I understand that auto shops will try and take advantage of my lack of knowledge I decide to get a second opinion. I take my car in and they tell me and even show me, that my rotors are completely fine and I have 98% of my brake pads left. SERIOUSLY? Come on now sun auto, that is a terrible terrible business model. I will never EVER come back to this spot, I would rather pay $30.00 for an oil change than deal with and give my money to unethical people such as yourselves. I've been taking my Toyota Prius here for about 2 years now, primarily for routine oil change. I was told making an appointment would help speed up the service, but it takes over an hour (usually 90 minutes) even with an appointment...for an oil change! The long wait was frustratingly acceptable but my recent visits felt more and more like they were trying to upsell me, or propose maintenance on things that weren't needed. But the last straw was when they made me wait about 90 minutes for an oil change, and then tell me my battery was bad. They showed me the battery test results and quoted me a high price on a battery (after calling the local Toyota dealer to confirm), and insisted it was going to fail and I would be stranded. I asked them to put everything back and let me try to drive it, since there were no signs of battery failure on my way there that morning. It started just fine, and I drove to the dealer. They checked the battery and confirmed it was good. That was a couple months ago, and my battery hasn't had any issues. In my opinion, either Sun Auto was incompetent or lying and trying to upsell. Had a pair of shocks installed and 14 months later they went out on me. Went to a close competitor and was told I had cheap shocks installed, courtesy of Sun Auto Service. I called the manager at this "fine" establishment and was told that they were 2 months outside the warranty. How convenient right? I will never come here for service again knowing they may or may not put the cheapest possible piece of equipment to repair my vehicle. One more thing, if you think this place is reviewed highly, then you should check the 33 filtered reviews that management is keeping you from viewing. Don't let those coupons fool ya! This is place is just as much money as the next guy. Whatever you do, make an appointment! If you don't have an appointment there is a very long wait. I had an appointment at 10 for which I was 15 mins late (why I always get confused bewteen Stassney and Slaughter, I will never know). At first he said it would be an hour and a half wait. I asked if I did have an appointment (I never received a confirmation) and he said yes, they would take it back right away. Guess what? An hour and and half later I get my car back. All I needed was an oil change and tire rotation. No way it should have taken that long. They just took it back to make it appear the reservation meant something but they still waited to work on it. Oh well, I knew it would take some time so no real biggie. Until I get my car back. Grease! Grease on my tan leather seats! Are you fuh-kidding me? Put something down so you don't get your grease monkey ass all over my leather seats dammit! Also, when you go to other places they give you a check list of what they inspected. This place says they do an inspection of your vehicle with the oil change, but I have no way of knowing if they did or not. I think I'll go back to Firestone. read more

Very slow service. Clerks try to sell you on things you don't need...I asked them at the beginning of my visit how long it would be to replace my front brakes. They told me 1-2 hours when I noticed They we're taking too long I asked the front desk guys about how much longer it was going to be they were quick to shut me down and said "not that much longer" and moved on to another customer leaving me unattended. At the time of payment the clerk was unsure about how much to charge me. I ended up leaving the shop 4 HOURS later for a FRONT brake job. The front desk clerk guy was rude too. This Place used to be great service but it seems they are dropping the ball. I won't be coming back for service as they have officially turned into all about sales kinda shop. read more

Another satisfied customer! I have so many horror stories about mechanics, that I had to actually stop and give these guys a great review. I recently took an old 2001 Dodge Ram in that was having issues with the AC and heater. I have been driving it around like this for over a year because I knew it was going to be insanely expensive to pull the dashboard out and fix this problem. I finally had enough cash so I decided to take it in to be looked at. I dropped it off on Sunday night (they were closed) and I got a call the very next day before noon from Colton the service advisor on what was wrong. He complimented me several times on what great shape my truck was in and told me about the issue. I had previously said to myself if it were over $2000 I was going to just get rid of the truck. Before I even told Colton that part he already told me they were going to discount the price to right at $2000! The original total was going to be over $2200 I believe. When I told him about my price limit he laughed and promised that it would not be over that amount. They had my truck a few days (which was totally fine because I didn't need it) During the time he had my truck, I got updates every day on what exactly they were doing and what they had to purchase. I was never surprised about any aspect of the bill. When I went to pick it up, Colton took me back and showed me the old parts they had to remove. They actually kept them, which I thought was pretty honest of a shop! He showed me where the old parts failed and the pieces that had to be replaced! As he was explaining everything he said they actually swapped out a few parts from the old kit because they were better quality and would hold up better in the long run.... Most places would have just done the easiest and fastest route and installed the new pieces without doing this. He told me rather than purchase all the parts from Dodge (which are really expensive) he actually shopped around for better deals. He saved me even more money outside of his discount. He introduced me to the gentleman working on my truck, his name was Nacho. I really great guy, who I could tell took a lot of pride in his work and actually came over to point out a few things on improving my repair so I wouldn't have to do it again for a long time. Then Colton took me out to my truck and showed me some of the areas they were working on and how they even cleaned up a rust spot in my carpet! He thanked me for my business and told me several times about a one year warranty on everything they did. I forgot to mention he even told me about some coupons on how I could save regular maintenance services in the future. You can tell these guys got it right at Sun Auto hiring these two guys. Its sad to say that most places would try and get you in and out as fast as possible so they could move on to the next customer. They hardly ever explain why they are replacing certain parts, and almost always hit you with a higher bill than when you first started. This was not the case at Sun Auto! These guys really went out of their way for me, and I wish I could do more than write a review. If you truly value customer service and honesty, these guys are for you. I will never take my car anywhere else. I have a 2001 Dodge Ram Sport with 150+K miles on it. I had to have an entire new heater core and evaporator core, new brake pads, brake flush, and air door bushing, Oh and I got an inspection. My entire bill was $2018.50. Other shops quoted me $2500 for just the AC/Heater work. Side story; I also have a 2012 Saab 94*x I took there before. As you know Saab went out of business in 2012 and they only produced 340 of my exact car. Getting parts has been a nightmare. These guys found what I needed in one day. Even the local Saab repair service center couldn't do that. i wish these guys the best! It's great to have peace of mind the next time something major happens, that I know I can take my vehicle to a place I trust and won't have to shop around to several different shops to get quotes. Very disappointed their New Customer coupon -- it does not state all the exceptions and found out as we are paying that it is not available for inspections; then they take about 10 minutes to check us out even though no one was in the waiting area. The person at the counter looks at us and then puts our invoice to the side and then waits until a customer walks into the office to assist her instead. Their customer service needs work! Ladies and Gentlemen living in, near or around the South Austin area, be very careful with this auto shop. Example, you start out with a simple oil change, you've made the appointment, but when you get there, they always come out with a different price, then the robots they have up at the front counter try to brainwash you by telling you that they are trying to conform to GM or any other Auto Manufacturer standards which is 100 percent bullshit. Not to mention, they're always wanting to fix or change something your car dosen't need or is not even requiring replacement. Beware of those scam artist, they're the worst around yet. For the same oil change they wanted to perform on my car, which I was quoted $60 dollars including disposal fee, I had it done at the dealership for $44! read more

I received a Customer Appreciation $20 Coupon on any service. I go there for oil change and it's over $20 ($28). I first went because I saw a sign advertised for $17.95. I was told since I drive an SUV its higher. I had to pay since the oil was changed. I inquired if the coupon would apply toward an oil change, if not to cancel appointment. Sales representative (Marjorie) responded saying yes, on any invoice over $20. Kept my scheduled appointment. When I arrived informed the front desk about the coupon, he wouldn't accept it. I showed him the email. He still didn't want to accept. So he spoke with his supervisor who yes, we will accept. Now the guy tells me he can't accept it cause my oil change is only $17.95 and the coupon is minus tax. I responded, You have never charged me $17.95 for oil change. Gave another reason and said its $17.95 today. I walked out saying cancel my appointment and keep your $20 as you really need it apparently. Watch OUT FOR SCAM COUPONS FROM THEM!!!! They will charge you more and make every excuse to get more money. The lost me as a customer and I hope this review keeps others away. I emailed Marjorie as well about the SCAM. We have used Sun Auto off Slaughter Ln for years. Recently, my husband has taken his truck several times, once for his AC they quoted 1900 we decided to get another quote from Lugnuts and they fixed it for 600. But when my husband took it in initially he asked for it to be recharged at Sun. Instead of telling him that it would not help they charged him 140.00 for the recharge anyway!!! My husband decided to go ahead and take his truck back to Sun for oil change and inspection. At the time they asked him about the AC he disclosed what we paid and they made and excuse like "Oh we quoted for the total AC replaced". He said well apparently Lugnuts said it wasn't needed and only fixed what was broken!!! So inspection was done and my husbands truck failed. Sun said oh they must have taken the battery out so drive it around for 75 miles. So he did and went back and still failed. Sun said it's something with emissions not sure you will need to pay for a diagnostic test. He chose not to, called around and got a quote took it to Lambs next door and they said something only needed to be reset with the emissions. They only charged for the diagnostic testing and inspected it too!!! Also, why does Sun charge 28.75 and other shops charge 18.50 which should be the correct price. I would say if you only need an oil change go to Sun they have a great deal oil, tire rotation and brake check for about 25, if you need work or even a honest estimate go somewhere else. We have used Lugnuts and now Lambs for the work completed on the truck. read more

I started going to Sun Auto for my oil changes when I first moved to Austin because they were across the street from my apartment complex. Since then I've moved three times, and I still go here to get my oil changed, even though there are other places right around the corner. Why? You don't need to make an appointment with these guys, they get you in and out quickly, they call you when your vehicle is ready, and they always have coupons on their website. Plus they don't try to talk you into umpteen other unnecessary services. They've consistently provided the best value and customer service. I won't take my car anywhere else! read more

Came in to get an auto inspection. I waited and walked around the area for about an hour and a half before returning and waiting there. I watched the guy who inspected my car put my keys in the complete stack, but I continued waiting for them to either tell me my car is ready or call me. While waiting a woman came in and was upset about not passing her inspection and was wondering why. After dealing with her, about 3 of them sat in the office seeming to talk about the woman, meanwhile my car is finished and no one bothered let me know. Do not take your car here. Took my 2007 Cadillac CTS here for a new ecm to be installed. It took them 2 weeks to figure it out and when it came back it had 3 new issues they would not take credit for. I have gone into this place about 5 times in the past 6 months. I have only paid or even been entered in the system for 2 of those times. Other times they have been just gentlemen helping me out- changing my tire, turning off my tire light and filling it with more air, etc. They are very honest when i need real service and maintenance and I appreciate that. It was finally time to get rid of my out of state plates, so I went to Sun Auto down the street from my house to get my inspection done and get my oil changed. I walked in and asked how long it would take and the guy was honest and said about an hour so I decided to make an appointment for after I got off work. When I showed up for my appointment my car was taken back right away. The guy then came out and took me to my car to show me my belts and brake pads which were in fact cracked and my brake pads were definitely very low. He gave me quotes on everything but didn't pressure me or try to sell me. He simply said "this is so you have an idea of the cost whenever you are ready to take care of them." Which to me was great because I hate going to places and they try and up-sell you on everything. Service was quick and the staff was very friendly. I will be going back to Sun Auto when I need another oil change or service done. Yes, it is a little more than going to Walmart or something but I'd rather pay more for better service than take the cheap way for crap service. read more

I am giving these guys one star because after all that was said and done they worked with me... But I should have never been in that situation in the first place! If they would have explained the payment plans ahead of time properly I wouldn't have approved the work knowing I couldn't pay for it!!! I came in for an oil change and inspection. After they took the keys I let them know my brakes may need repair how much? They told me the price, so I asked if they had a payment arrangement or something to help people that don't have all the cash right now? They told me they had a program (if u pass the credit check) u pay no money down! I knew I was going to fail that so I asked if they had another way. He said yes if u have a bank account u can pay half now and then write a check for the remaining balance! I said awesome sounds like my plan! 2 hours later I get a call saying that I failed my inspection due to a leaky power steering pump! I asked the gentlemen how much will that be!? He said about 650!!!!! I did some research online and found that total a power steering pump with labor should run me anywhere from 300 to 450 ( far from 650).!He knew I needed my inspection Sticker so he knew I needed to do what it took to get it, so he asked if I wanted to approve the work to be done on my Nissan Altima? I asked one more time.... " so I can pay half today and write u a check for the rest right"!? He said yes sir.... So I approved the work.... One full day later I got the call 30 mins before they close to come pick up my car! Then the fun began!............ I got there wrote the check, but the checked failed on their system! My account is golden and so are my checks what's the problem!? He told me it failed due to lack of check writing in the account!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME.... Who writes checks anymore!? I can write a check and it works all over the world but through their tele check system it's not going to work. So I told them I need my car and can't pay almost 700 dollars today what can I do to get my car out!? Mind you I was only looking to spend 300 max if my breaks were bad, plus the oil and inspection! Now he's asking for the full amount or he can't release the car!.... Then he says do u have anyone that can help u pay this?... NO I DONT! I asked him to call his tele check company and get my check to clear cuz there is nothing wrong with it! He looked pretty annoyed and said ok.... Then we sat in the phone for over a half an hour trying to talk to a representative! Then when we finally get someone they barely spoke English and ended up not helping one bit!.... This is why I have always hated auto places and still do! I felt like I was getting scammed the whole experience! I will never recommend anyone to this place unless u plan on spending twice as much as u expected and not having anyway to repay that other than paying the full amount! Dwayne the area manager really took full responsibility for my experience Even though he wasn't there! Not only was he 100% professional, but he actually listened to what my problem was! He sympathized with everything found a solution to my problem, as well as take care of a debt I had left with the company! Thank you very much Dwayne for representing your company in a professional manner and taking care of your customers even though they say they are not coming back! I will be coming back due to the area manager taking care of me! Even told me that the next time I come in to give him a call so he can meet me! I saw a few bad reviews and this place i believe is under new management and -WOW what a change. I felt well informed and was able to make an educated decision for myself rather than be forced to get things done to my car i felt wern't needed. I highly recommend Sun Auto to anyone. They did a transmission fluid drain and fill and did not tighten the drain bolt correctly and they re used the washer that should have been replaced, therefore my car started leaking transmission fluid. I had Acura fix the issue. I called Sun Auto and left message for manager to try and get a refund and no one called me back.(The previous year they also lost my tire key but after arguing with manager they replaced it. They also told me my tires had been balanced and rotated after an oil change but we later found out they had not done it because the tire key was not in the car that day.....the tire key they lost in the previous oil change.....sigh). Used to come here for maintenance because of its convenient location, but have decided to stop. Some of the mechanics/staff are very nice but I don't trust the work anymore. read more
