Super impressed with all the guys at Allies! Multiple times I've taken my grandpas 1989 F-150 and the amazing guys fixed all the previous issues. Honest and hardworking, these guys deserve way more stars, but I can only give them 5. Thanks again, Allie's, I'm sending all my friends and family there now!!! read more

Allies Automotive - Me and my dad, with grandpas truck - Auto Repair Near Me - Austin, Texas

'Who can find an honest mechanic? For his worth is far above rubies!' My honest, skillful mechanic of 40 years retired--he earned it--and I was cast adrift bouncing between Dumb & Dumber....and the fast buck artists out there waiting for you. But a tow-truck driver pointed me to Allies Automotive: I had told him what I was paying Lamb's, and he said 'OMG' and took me to Chris. And I hope he doesn't retire soon! Chris is 'of service' to people, not merely extracting money from easy marks. When Chris fixes it, it stays fixed. He has kept my 16-year-old Toyota Sienna spinning like a top. When you see his place on Slaughter Creek Dr. it looks like the Professor's workshop in 'Back To the Future'. Also a time-warp into 1970s Austin that somehow hasn't been developed out of existence yet by land butchers. Maybe Chris should be in the Bible. read more

They fix it when others can't. Reasonable pricing. Knowledgeable. I refer these guys all the time

Chris is extremely knowledgeable and had our car taken care of properly. He communicated well and his price is very reasonable.

I have to give a shout out to Chris and the Allies team for fixing my 2000 Firebird to drive better than ever. They didn't give up and were extremely fair in cost to solve the mystery others couldn't do! read more

These guys are great! This is my go-to shop when I need to get some work done on my Vehicle, they are super knowledgeable, honest, and fast. I highly recommend Allies Automotive. read more

First day in Austin - brake light and trunk latch are stolen at a Goodwill not allowing me to open my 2004 Toyota Prius trunk for the month we are in TX. First hour at Allies Automotive- Chris took us in immediately. We ordered the parts from Amazon and without any waiting time he took out the lights and was able to open our latch for the trunk. Chris is the coolest, most calm mechanic I've ever had the pleasure of working with. He and his friends both love working on Chevy and Fords and he started this Alliance company. It is a little difficult finding but totally worth going to with any car issues! Definitely go towards the Valvoline and make a left into the other road- Waze can get very confusing! Nonetheless, I cannot tell you how amazing this place is! Chris is Heaven sent, hard working, honest and incredible! Highly recommend Allie's Automotive to anyone! read more

We brought my daughter's 2000 Honda CR-V in because it was leaking oil and we wanted a good bumper-to-bumper check over. Upon calling back after the initial diagnosis, were quoted a price that seemed reasonable. We dropped off the car and left it for what we were told would be a couple of days. We called back the next afternoon to check on their progress, and were told that they were done. Upon our arrival (they waited about 20 minutes after their closing time,) we were presented with a bill that was about $50 less than their quote. 3-4 weeks later, we noticed a rattling noise, which turned out to be a weld that had come loose- which they quickly fixed at no charge. We have subsequently brought all of our cars to Allies and have been please with everything they've done for us. If you're looking for atmosphere in a mechanic's business, you won't find it here. What you will find is an honestly run place that knows how to properly fix cars at reasonable prices. read more

Have taken my (20+ year old) car there multiple times for multiple issues - I have always been happy with the work and the price. The only downside is that it sometimes takes a little longer to get to your vehicle, but if this is the case Chris will tell you read more

Chris is the Real Deal. I have used him for a few years after reading his reviews. He has always done excellent work at a more than a reasonable price. Everyone that I have sent to Chris sing his praises. He is Honest, Will work with you to get the job done at a price you can afford. Unlike many shops that I have used that make me feel like I should be grateful to them or make me feel like just a # and paycheck. Chris is respectful and shows his appreciation. We have lost most of out Local Mechanics in town to the Chains and high end shops. Please support our Local talent and keep Chris in Business for many years to come. read more

Fantastic group of mechanics. Fair, honest and great work. Best mechanic I've ever had.

John is such a quality human who does quality work. I walked in Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend and he was able to communicate and diagnose the issue as well as order parts by that day so I could be back on the road the following Tuesday. It was honest, fast, quality, friendly, informative and great value! I'll be back and the car is running perfectly since! Go see John read more

Found my forever auto mechanic! Car died in the middle of the road. Had to call a tow. Googled mechanics near me and chose them based on their reviews as Id never needed one since my move to Austin and didnt know any. Its always stressful being a woman taking a car to a mechanic for the first time. You all know the horror stories. And it wasnt like I could take it anywhere else without great expense as Id need it towed. I was completely at their mercy! Im so glad I chose them and thanks to all the honest reviews that led me there. Chris was awesome. Did me a human kindness I was not expecting and am forever grateful for. Diagnosed the easy repair problem and got me in and out within the hour. Theres lots of racing pictures and trophies in the waiting area. Turns out they're a long time racing family and have built their cars from the ground up to compete. Who better to trust that they know their stuff? Trustworthy honest good people here. Thank you to Chris and the mechanics for taking better than good care of me. read more

I was on my way to work and my car started overheating after towing it to Firestone, yes I know big mistake, I called about 14 different mechanic shops to see who could fix my car. Allie's was the first to say they could actually fix it and take it in that day. Not being from Austin and having no family or recommendations it gave me piece of mind with how great they were with communication and they fixed my car faster than I was expecting. I'll be a customer for life. Thanks for the awesome help. read more

Alternator went out and Chris was incredibly helpful, got me back on the road a day later. My good friend has been going here for years and recommended, very grateful for the positive experience. Affordable, friendly and knowledgeable I'm so glad to have my car back so I can continue working. If you're gonna vote with your dollars towards a mechanic on the Southside go here. read more

Awesome place. He gives you 3 choices for repair....1. dealer type work. 2. parts lower cost. 3. just get it going. I recommend this place read more

I'm so grateful to have found Chris Kato almost 15 years ago when I moved to Austin. He is honest and solid in his work. In moments when I could be taken advantage of, for my minimal knowledge of automobiles, Chris has always treated me with respect and honesty. Thank you! read more

This place is great. A family friend that owns an engine shop recommended Allies to me. They do a great job quickly and at a good price. I have gone here twice for different reasons. I have recommended this place to friends and they have had equally good experiences. The shop is a little out of the way but really worth the trip. read more

Had a faulty turbo install on my 09 Forester XT by a Facebook Mechanic. Found Chris and Allies on Google. Cost me less, for them to fix the problem than it did for the original part replacement with the other guy...and it was done in the same day! Quality work! I won't be going anywhere else! Can't recommend them enough. read more

The head gaskets were blown on my 99 Dodge Ram. called around and ended up talking to Chris at Allies Automotive. We explored options and prices and settled on the most cost effective route (from his experience) to get it back on the road. Since they are a fairly small family type shop, with only a few bays/car lifts, it can take a bit of time for them to get it up on the rack. (Might also have been that one of the mechanics was out for 3 or 4 days too) but none the less... Once they got to working on it they kept me informed of any arising issues and time to get needed parts. Took a 4 days longer than expected to do this (plus the week wait before they got started on it) but got it back and it runs great at a fair price. I was informed when I had it towed there that it would be 4 or 5 workdays before they could get to working on it so this delay was expected... Chris went out of his way to find a replacement engine for this, and it cost him more than he had expected in his quote to me, he ate the extra cost to keep his word on the quoted price. and once the work was done, he even came by my house and picked me up to bring me to the shop to get my car (he also got some DQ cones for the boys in the shop on his way back) When my A/C stopped working after a month or 2 I brought it back and he found the leak and tested and refilled it. when I asked what I owed him he said the cost of the coolant would be good... for a full recharge I only had $30 on me and it was good... These guys were honest, kept me informed and fairly priced! I would definatly recomend this shop to friends. and would go back! read more

I have had a few of my vehicles worked on there as well as friends and family everyone has been very pleased with the quality of their work. They are located in deep south Austin off Slaughter but worth the drive for anyone needing a good honest shop. They specialize in Mustangs and are regulars on the local drag race circuit read more

We started taking our work vans to Chris at Allies based on a recommendation from a co-worker who lives down the road. WOW! We will never turn back. I have started taking my personal vehicle there and he is always trustworthy and honest. He will prioritize my list of repairs, because let's be honest cars are EXPENSIVE. He is overall a great guy and very much so worth the drive to get to Allies. It takes me 45 minutes from my house and I have no problem getting there if I continue to get the service I have been receiving. read more

Long ago there were mechanics who were versatile, fair and competent-- the Go-To-Guy you could rely on to fix what needed fixed & not make you cough up 3 or 4 mortgage payments to get your ride out of hock. You could trust them w/ your vehicle, to not pull any funny business under the hood "while they were in there." (I 've been told by so many mechanics about the shenanigans rampant at Dealerships-- the reason I won't let a dealership touch my baby. Ever.) Chris's Allies is one of these "old school" shops. We feel so blessed to have found him. Several years ago, I called Lug Nutz on Manchaca Rd. in Austin to replace a timing chain. They said they didn't do that but referred me to Chris at Allies Automotive. I do my research. I read his reviews. Called around. Called & talked to Chris. Then decided to trust Allies. Never turned back. Chris got that job done efficiently. Was true to his estimate & not only did the timing chain, but found the harmonic balancer was going out & did that "while he was in there" at a modest additional cost. Fast forward to this week. Two of a set of three bolts on our passenger-side motor mount had broken. Again, Chris & crew were able to extract the busted bolts that were in a very inaccessible place (I know, I tried 20hrs. Sunday to remove them), then replaced the motor mounts while they had the engine dropped. Chris gave a fair estimate & stuck to his price on the final bill. (No funny business "bait & switch" nonsense I've heard about elsewhere.) Honesty. Integrity. A true MotorHead! Thank you Lug Nutz for referring us to Allies. I can sleep at night after turning over my baby's key to Allies. P.S. These guys are versatile. There is always an eye candy "antique" car or truck or two in the service bays. They're not afraid of anything! Chris is a true Mechanic's Mechanic. What a find! God bless. read more

I called Chris on a Monday to get a quote to install a leveling kit on my brother's Silverado 2500hd. He said he hadn't installed one before but was willing to try the install. He told me to come by the next morning so he could look at the leveling kit. By 10:30am it was installed to perfection. Chris is obviously a professional and he is extremely fair with his prices. It's rare to find someone you can trust to work on your vehicle but I will be calling Chris the next time I need a mechanic and you should too. Thanks Chris!!!!! read more

great shop! recommended by friend for doing great work and being honest. i couldn't agree more. i had my car towed there after dying, to find out i needed a new engine. chris went out of his way to find me the best and most affordable engine to replace mine with. which was no easy task. the work was done perfectly and timely. i'm in a wheelchair and chris even offered to help me figure out a way to bring fixed car to me when complete. good work, good prices, and good service equal great experience. deep south austin but couldn't be more worth it. and is slaughter really that far these days. read more

I own a 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback that had a blown head gasket. I called around to several places to get quotes to replace it and found prices ranging from about $2000 up to about $4500 (more than the car is worth). The rest of the car is in really good shape. Chris was referred to me from the mechanic I usually use and he came up with a fantastic option that worked really well for me. He got me a used replacement engine with around 40,000 miles on it. The repair came in exactly at the quoted amount and my wife and I have been driving it daily for about 2 months. It runs as good as it ever did! They did a great job and allowed me to keep my car that I have loved! Thanks guys! read more

I have been taking my Mustang to Allies for several years and am always pleased. Yes, they are a bit out of the way, but totally worth it! Whenever I have "cheated" on them and gone to another shop, just for the sake of a more convenient location to my home/work, I usually regret it. :-) read more
