First day in Austin - brake light and trunk latch are stolen at a Goodwill not allowing me to open my 2004 Toyota Prius trunk for the month we are in TX. First hour at Allies Automotive- Chris took us in immediately. We ordered the parts from Amazon and without any waiting time he took out the lights and was able to open our latch for the trunk. Chris is the coolest, most calm mechanic I've ever had the pleasure of working with. He and his friends both love working on Chevy and Fords and he started this Alliance company. It is a little difficult finding but totally worth going to with any car issues! Definitely go towards the Valvoline and make a left into the other road- Waze can get very confusing! We brought my daughter's 2000 Honda CR-V in because it was leaking oil and we wanted a good bumper-to-bumper check over. Upon calling back after the initial diagnosis, were quoted a price that seemed reasonable. We dropped off the car and left it for what we were told would be a couple of days. We called back the next afternoon to check on their progress, and were told that they were done. Upon our arrival (they waited about 20 minutes after their closing time,) we were presented with a bill that was about $50 less than their quote. 3-4 weeks later, we noticed a rattling noise, which turned out to be a weld that had come loose- which they quickly fixed at no charge. We have subsequently brought all of our cars to Allies and have been please with everything they've done for us. If you're looking for atmosphere in a mechanic's business, you won't find it here. What you will find is an honestly run place that knows how to properly fix cars at reasonable prices. read more

The head gaskets were blown on my 99 Dodge Ram. called around and ended up talking to Chris at Allies Automotive. We explored options and prices and settled on the most cost effective route (from his experience) to get it back on the road. Since they are a fairly small family type shop, with only a few bays/car lifts, it can take a bit of time for them to get it up on the rack. (Might also have been that one of the mechanics was out for 3 or 4 days too) but none the less... Once they got to working on it they kept me informed of any arising issues and time to get needed parts. Took a 4 days longer than expected to do this (plus the week wait before they got started on it) but got it back and it runs great at a fair price. I was informed when I had it towed there that it would be 4 or 5 workdays before they could get to working on it so this delay was expected... Chris went out of his way to find a replacement engine for this, and it cost him more than he had expected in his quote to me, he ate the extra cost to keep his word on the quoted price. and once the work was done, he even came by my house and picked me up to bring me to the shop to get my car (he also got some DQ cones for the boys in the shop on his way back) When my A/C stopped working after a month or 2 I brought it back and he found the leak and tested and refilled it. when I asked what I owed him he said the cost of the coolant would be good... for a full recharge I only had $30 on me and it was good... These guys were honest, kept me informed and fairly priced! I would definatly recomend this shop to friends. and would go back! read more

I took my van to the dealership for repair and work was not done properly issue was still their and after i was recommended to Allies to get help they pin point the issue that the works was patch not fix call the dealership and they said they always use silicone on every intake I told the mechanic that is unprofessionally and told him I'm not a mechanic but I no a motor build pressure silicon won't hold up on pressure and top it off bolt where not bolt down properly and Allies took are of me and my van running like new and the price was fair was able to pay . Long ago there were mechanics who were versatile, fair and competent-- the Go-To-Guy you could rely on to fix what needed fixed & not make you cough up 3 or 4 mortgage payments to get your ride out of hock. You could trust them w/ your vehicle, to not pull any funny business under the hood "while they were in there." (I 've been told by so many mechanics about the shenanigans rampant at Dealerships-- the reason I won't let a dealership touch my baby. Ever.) Chris's Allies is one of these "old school" shops. We feel so blessed to have found him. Several years ago, I called Lug Nutz on Manchaca Rd. in Austin to replace a timing chain. They said they didn't do that but referred me to Chris at Allies Automotive. I do my research. I read his reviews. Called around. Called & talked to Chris. Then decided to trust Allies. Never turned back. Chris got that job done efficiently. Was true to his estimate & not only did the timing chain, but found the harmonic balancer was going out & did that "while he was in there" at a modest additional cost. Fast forward to this week. Two of a set of three bolts on our passenger-side motor mount had broken. Again, Chris & crew were able to extract the busted bolts that were in a very inaccessible place (I know, I tried 20hrs. Sunday to remove them), then replaced the motor mounts while they had the engine dropped. Chris gave a fair estimate & stuck to his price on the final bill. (No funny business "bait & switch" nonsense I've heard about elsewhere.) Honesty. Integrity. A true MotorHead! Thank you Lug Nutz for referring us to Allies. I can sleep at night after turning over my baby's key to Allies. P.S. These guys are versatile. There is always an eye candy "antique" car or truck or two in the service bays. I called Chris on a Monday to get a quote to install a leveling kit on my brother's Silverado 2500hd. He said he hadn't installed one before but was willing to try the install. He told me to come by the next morning so he could look at the leveling kit. By 10:30am it was installed to perfection. Chris is obviously a professional and he is extremely fair with his prices. great shop! recommended by friend for doing great work and being honest. i couldn't agree more. i had my car towed there after dying, to find out i needed a new engine. chris went out of his way to find me the best and most affordable engine to replace mine with. which was no easy task. the work was done perfectly and timely. i'm in a wheelchair and chris even offered to help me figure out a way to bring fixed car to me when complete. good work, good prices, and good service equal great experience. deep south austin but couldn't be more worth it. and is slaughter really that far these days. read more

I own a 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback that had a blown head gasket. I called around to several places to get quotes to replace it and found prices ranging from about $2000 up to about $4500 (more than the car is worth). The rest of the car is in really good shape. Chris was referred to me from the mechanic I usually use and he came up with a fantastic option that worked really well for me. He got me a used replacement engine with around 40,000 miles on it. The repair came in exactly at the quoted amount and my wife and I have been driving it daily for about 2 months. It runs as good as it ever did!
