It has been an AWESOME experience, dealing with Fateh, and Crank Auto Repair!!! I purchased a BEAUTIFUL 2011 Lexus ES350, for a MORE than fair price. Dropped my car off Saturday morning with a cracked radiator, was able to pick it up that evening. Very polite team, reasonable prices, flexible about late same-day pickup. Would recommend to anyone needing fast and honest service. read more

Truck threw belt and blew radiator leaving with new engine installed. He said the belt was good. 430 miles later broke down, coolant coming out exhaust. Easy to tell since the exhaust has been falling off poorly installed. Head gasket blew in the truck, or worst case is hydrolock, not turning over properly soemtimes. A couple hoses shot off. Had nothing but problems, never ran right. It would get stuck turning over sometimes. Idle was super high at first, I adjusted it down. It surged in first at low speed, high idle was to cover this up perhaps? Went to shop, he had me waiting around all day, never looked at it, mentioned charging me more. He alleged I had a bad MAF, which I left w/o inspection and replaced after seeing him hustle for new clients and leaving me hanging. Still didn't run right. Surged when I hit the brakes in neutral, some mind of vacuum leak. He blamed me when I confronted him. I travel a lot and had a second car so just drove that amidst my flights, sold that car though. Now I've got work out of state and no wheels. Blaming my camper shell is pathetic for a poor engine install. Never sent my engine core back. I thought it was, when I didn't get claim check I found out. He said no problem doing that now acts like he did me a favor after not doing it for months. Also charged $150 more than $1100 at first. When he said it was ready the skid plate wasn't on or the hitch, I was boxed in by another car, I waited a couple hours while he talked to new clients, offering to buy their cars so he can flip them. He cares about money, not quality work. I want a refund. This is unacceptable. My truck is useless. He won't be responsible, and blames the customer. I will sue and post reviews everywhere I can. This guy is scum. read more

The owner will take care of you, and he will do it with character, honesty, and affordably.

I initially left this shop a five-star review because they gave the impression that they genuinely wanted to take care of customers. Unfortunately, my experience after that has been extremely disappointing. I brought my Jeep in for an HVAC noise issue. The blower motor was replaced -- twice -- and the original problem was never resolved. Instead of properly diagnosing the root cause, parts were swapped without a thorough inspection of the housing or surrounding components. The vehicle has now been back multiple times for the same issue. Each time I was told it would be taken care of. Most recently, when I reached out to schedule a drop-off, I was told "maybe in a few days, we're busy with other business." That is not an acceptable response when a customer has already paid and the issue remains unresolved. There appears to be a high volume of vehicles on the lot with very limited staff, which may explain the rushed work and lack of detailed diagnostics. Replacing parts without solving the problem is not proper repair -- it's guesswork at the customer's expense. Also be prepared to be priced gouged and given the highest prices on my market. The owner will not be responsive. He will tell you you're the best customer and do whatever it takes. A few things that can fix right, but even then I question how good are those parts? Maybe all these other five star reviews is when he actually cared more about the business and customer service. When I requested a refund, I was told I would need to return the part in order to receive it. That is frustrating considering the repair did not correct the issue in the first place. At this point, I will be pursuing a dispute through my bank. I cannot recommend this shop for any diagnostic work beyond simple maintenance. If you value thorough inspection and root-cause repair, I would proceed with caution. read more

I Needed my state inspection taken care of ASAP, after spending a day going from shop to shop with no luck, I called Crank Auto Repair to check and make sure if they did state inspections and Fateh said yes. There was no wait and while I was there, I asked about getting an oil change and they took care of that for me too! It's nice finding a mechanic shop in the neighborhood. I will definitely visit Crank Auto Repair in the future. Thank you so much for being kind and getting my car road ready! read more

Just updating here! Crank is still where I go when I need anything car related done. Not only am I confident in their fair pricing, but they are also very thorough in what needs to be done to my car in the future to keep it running well - but not outlandish, expensive fixes that I know are unnecessary! It's nice to have peace of mind that a company won't try to unfairly charge me or take advandage. Honesty and fairness goes a really long way in my book! read more

I'm glad I came to this shop, I read the reviews and they exceeded even what the reviews say. What I was hoping to be minor was not but Fateh the owner was kind and helpful. Thank you for your wonderful service and kindness with my car fan repair. My Ac even blows better! read more

A true JEM! The team at this place always works so quickly on my car and the prices don't break the bank! BIG Shout out to Fateh for being so personable & for this super great shirt! Since I've moved to Austin and was recommend to this repair shop I have not felt the need to go anywhere else. My last repair only took one day! Updated June: Went to get my spark plugs and ignition coils changed! Super quick and affordable. I went to jiffy lube first and it was going to cost me $700+, saved $200 coming here. Never dissapoints! Becoming a loyal customer more and more every visit. read more

Great work, reasonable prices and overall great experience. I have come back to them several times and each time has been a great experience. Low frills shop and they don't have a rental car agreement so you can either drop it off and wait or have your car towed. They are busy so you will need to call and get a time estimate. I trust them and have found that they will not do work on your car that's not needed. A previous mechanic wanted to do things that were not necessary and I was glad I waited and spoke with Fateh first. read more

I bought a car from Crank Auto and I had a great experience! Fateh and Ahmed are friendly and responsive. I got a good price on the car. After purchase, I noticed a few small issues with the car, and I was able to bring it back to them the following day for the quick repairs. I would recommend buying from here! read more

Went for an oil change and the customer service was excellent. He also charged me a fair price. Just before taking my car in I found a coupon for a different place, which would have been cheaper, but opted to get service at Crank Auto Repair rather than the chain auto store. I'm so glad I did. It's also a bonus that they're in a convenient location. It's wonderful to find a mechanic that takes pride in their work and loves what they do. I highly recommend them! read more

Honest, affordable mechanics. I drive an old Subaru and recently conducted some much needed maintenance late last year (timing belt, water pump etc). He was well priced and was able to complete the job quickly. A few weeks ago, my lights came on and I brought my car in to get the issue evaluated. Fateh fixed the issue quickly and did not charge me as he said the part was under warranty from the work he completed last year. Will definitely be returning! read more

I highly recommend Crank Auto Repair! They offered great service and work at very fair prices. I had them replace the engine in my 2002 Toyota Camry, and they provided me the best quote and had the ability to complete the work faster than any other place I called in Austin. They had the engine replacement ordered and installed in the car within 4 days. Fateh was great and even texted and checked on me and the car after pick up to make sure everything was running smoothly. Great local shop! read more

I've been searching all over Austin, and this place is the best. As a girl who lives by herself, finding a good mechanic has been extremely difficult because everyone try's to rip me off. This place is so honest, Fateh works with you and ensures that he fixes your car without over charging. And they actually care! He check in with me a few days later to make sure my car was still running good. Fateh really goes above and beyond to make sure you have a good experience here! New customer for life! read more

Please pick this as your next auto shop! I was so frustrated going to multiple big chain auto shops where I kept being told I would be forced to wait three hours for a state inspection. Called this shop and the guy that answered was so sweet and told me they would complete my inspection asap. They kept that promise when I arrived and sent me out with ease. For once I didn't feel like I was being over looked for being a girl at an auto shop. Definitely coming back for my future needs! read more

Flaco is a trustworthy man. Always gets the job done in a timely and professional manner. Strongly recommend this place.

I had a really bad experience with the Volkswagen dealership, so I looked on Yelp for mechanics w/ the best reviews nearby, because I needed my brakes repaired asap. I called Crank Auto Repair, and they fit me in to their schedule immediately. Everyone there was very nice, the price was fair, the service was great/high quality, and very prompt! I will definitely go back for any other issues I have. Thank you so much! read more

Fetah will take care of you. Very nice people and good prices! I have taken two of my cars here and he got them fixed is a very timely manor

Sounds funny but I had the MOST supportive auto repair experience I have ever had working with Fateh at Crank Auto. I needed a clutch replacement. I was referred by a family member who described him as an honest and decent/fair priced. He exceeded my expectations. I was under tremendous amount of stress, trying to work out solutions because I had two cars out of commission with major expense repairs. He was immediately responsive, he never waived on the price, and he gave my car back to me within a day. The car is working wonderfully. No issues. He's a rare find. I'm so thankful . read more

My car wasn't starting it wasn't the battery couldn't figure it out. They had a tow truck come pick it up at 5pm on a Monday. Tuesday at 3 the car was ready to be picked up. Fantastic professional service by Fateh and his crew - air suspension replacement on '04 Mercedes...tough job done well with a smile:) and not outrageously expensive. Will be back for service again read more

My recent experience with Crank Auto Repair was about as amazing as it gets. I couldn't be more happy with their work. They were extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and they cared about me and my busted truck. They were able to fix my truck's engine after a different mechanic couldn't figure out what the problem was. I got my truck back really quick and it runs better than ever. I think that the best part about my experience with Crank Auto Repair was the price. It was much less expensive than what the other shops had quoted me. I also want to mention that they had a Courtesy Loaner Car that I got to drive (at no charge!) while my truck was being repaired. I will definitely return in the future, they have earned my business. Thanks guys!!! read more
