Seen this place on IG several times, and after trying to go 2 previous times, I finally caught them. (1st time they sold out, 2 time they had a mechanical issue). I got the viral half & half (half Nachos & half asada fries) and they didnt disappoint. They are $22, but they are easily enough for 2 people. The flavor was on point. Gaaaahleeeee. This is probably the best, if not, one of the best, carne asada fries i've ever had. I don't even like beans on fries, but they have managed to change my mind. From the flavor and tenderness of the steak to the cheese pulls, this is a winner. The only problem, it's $21 for an order, which is the most i've ever paid for some carne asada fries. Good enough to share, and if you can split the cost with others, seems worth it. Plenty of parking can be found along the street. Got our food with 10~15 mins. read more

Finally got around to trying this spot. Ordered the carne asada nachos and they were fire. My only complain, there wasn't enough beans and asada on them. The chips were perfectly crispy, the beans were super tasty and the asada tender seasoned well. Both the red and green salsa had great flavor. The guy taking the border was super nice and the food came out pretty quickly. Definitely will be coming back. read more

Updated review* Had the opportunity to come back to try the famous Sumo Tacos Nachos. This place is very much worth the hype. Portions are VERY filling and big enough to share between three people so make sure you come with an empty stomach!! My boyfriend also ordered a burrito for his brother and portions were so generous, we had so much leftovers. Despite ordering for takeout, nachos were very crunchy after an hour and a half of ordering (even with all the loaded sauces). My only complaint is that they share a lot with other businesses so you have to look hard for where they are located. I would come back again next time I feel STARVING because we ended up having leftovers. read more

This place was recommended to me by some family members and it did not disappoint. Literally the best thing I've had all year! Ordered carne asada fries, and the asada sumo taco, and omg. The carne asada fries were so delicious, the carne had perfect texture and flavor! The fries were crispy, with the perfect salsa to cheese ratio. The salsas were fresh, delicious, spicy! The sumo taco, wow, the cheese was crispy, soooooo goooood. And all its filings just made the perfect bite each time! I would 10000000% recommend this place! read more

Melty Cheese, chorizo beans, onion and cilantro it's just really really good. Fries, same thing all the toppings are fire and make for some of the best asada fries out there with the chorizo beans. Owner mentioned to us that the chicken they make is halal, really juice and well seasoned and that it was. The food being served here is an experience. Ordered the sumo, the burrito, the mulita, and the half & half (w/ half chicken, half beef, and half of each salsa). Be aware of what you're ordering because the portions are huge! I ordered for three people and we had leftovers. The tortillas and the fries were like regular ones you get at the store. The tortilla chips were fried perfectly. No complaints here. Only issue I had was ordering the chicken burrito but when I got home, it was beef. Both beef and chicken were seasoned and cooked beautifully. They were tender. They were juicy. They were flavorful. Love 'em! And the salsa...wow! They have a little kick to them, which I don't mind at all. I love it! Definitely coming back. Getting there: Follow your GPS, which would take you to Public Storage on the little side street parallel to the Main Street, keep going until you see a black trailer and an orange trailer. My husband gets the credit for this gold we found, This is Highly recommended, we tried it on a whelm, not expecting much, now we are addicted, we got Burrito, and a 2 sumo (tacos chicken and beef) OMG .... I had to stop writing this review so that I could finish my taco I'm not gonna lie it was a bit oily, but they give nachos chips for the second serving the falls off the taco.... My boyfriend came across this gem on instagram & it quickly became a favorite! We love taking friends and family to try it. The food is always 10/10, quality and quantity! Service is amazing - polite, professional, & they care about the customers experience. Owned by a married couple, husband and wife are always kind and on their hustle. They sell out so be sure to arrive early. Sumos is by far one of the best places to eat at! Everything is so delicious, and the owners are amazing! We also like that we can take our food to go or we like that they're at a really great spot to be able to eat outside, and best part is they have chairs to be able to enjoy the food there. Where to start? Alex and his wife are putting out some of the best meat quality any taco truck has, he's offering USDA Prime Meat which makes anything off the menu taste amazing. I can't lie, the portions are huge so consider sharing plates especially if you don't have a big appetite. My go to order here is the Half Nachos, Half fríes of Asada and only Green salsa and split a sumo tacos with my girl and we struggle to finish it most time. I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

The Whittier location is tucked away off Mulberry and La Mirada Blvd. I was greeted by the friendly staff and aroma of assorted meats and cilantro and onion. The carne asada is some of the best in the taco game: tender and flavorful. In a taco or burrito you cannot miss with the carne asada. I also ordered carnitas which were full of flavor and paired nicely with their tangy salsa verde. The horchata was refreshing and ice cold with hints of rice and spice that was more than nice. I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

Making this first review because they are Literally the best tacos I've ever had…read more I got Al Pastor and Cazbeza. The cabeza was my favorite, but both tacos were filled with juicy, unctuous meat, with a generous selection of toppings and sides that you can put on yourself. They make HOMEMADE tortillas on the spot for you from a ball of dough they made the night before. The only downside is that the tacos tend to fall apart from the juice and sheer weight of the meat, so you may need to finish eating using the forks they provide. They operate in the parking lot of C Food & Liquor store, so you can grab a beer or whatever from there to supplement your meal. The tacos are a bargain for the amount of meat they pack in there. I was just passing by and had to stop for the smell. Freaking glad I did! I'm serious, this is the second best taco I've ever had - first place being from a Michelin star restaurant that doesn't exist anymore. They are open Tuesday to Saturday 5-11pm, and closed Monday and Sunday.
