Another great Hawaiian food place. We have friends who just moved around the corner from this place so we've been here a couple times. Food was great. My wife is a big sea food eater and says the scallops were pretty excellent. She wants to go by even when we're not visiting friends, lol. Food was fresh and you can get take out, which is great. We also got sesame balls and gyozas. The rice was delicious and the veggies were cooked well, but all of the proteins, all of the meats were horribly overcooked. It was like cardboard... This is a favorite of my family's, there was a point where we were ordering from here twice a week... Everything I've had here is great, but my favorites and usual orders are the gyoza, seaweed salad, the tofu dishes, and the shrimp hibachi. I'm pretty picky with my tofu at restaurants, but they make it perfect here. If you're want to try the agedashi tofu I would recommend eating it there because it can get soggy sitting in the container. read more

It's basically Benihana but cheaper and I'll be honest I think I like it a little more too (could be because it's cheaper, but it's really good). Everything is tasty, the portions are really good too (lots of meat, not flooded with rice). They're great with customization (I just get broccoli and carrots for the veggies). This is a go to place for me, I eat here at least once a week. I'm a handyman and travel all around the East Bay from Oakland through Dublin and Martinez, so have the opportunity to eat at a variety of great places and Sumo Grill is a top 10 all around favorite for me. read more

We was very polite, very directly spoke and clear for his age, not that this should matter at all, but I have 12 year, and I'm guess they are close in age. I was very impressed with his professionalism and how respectful he was. Also he was very focused, and also not only did he complete transactions perfectly, be he also brought food to my table and before leaving again confirmed that I received everything and that I was satisfied. While this may seem trivial, it's a very big deal to me, and I recognize the fact that he must have very very committed and proud family. I believe entire family was working this day. Food was excellent, my salmon was cooked perfectly, exactly that way I wish, but rarely receive, as well as chicken and vegetables, all cooked perfectly.
