Baby girl got to see the cook do all his tricks and she def enjoyed the show. One the staff members saw baby girl asking for the food while we were waiting and offered to make her a bowl of white rice mixed with the onion soup and a few ice cubes to cool it down. It was a winner and she enjoyed it more then we thought she would. I ordered the salmon with avocado tartar sauce and fried rice. The udon garlic butter noodles were very good and the salmon paired nicely with the fired rice. Also got unlimited lemoade and got to switch up the flavors between mango, rasberry and strawberry. The food was good, and despite our server being new, they did their best. Unfortunately, there was an issue with my order, and when I brought it to the manager, Elisabeth, her response was rude and unprofessional. Instead of listening to my concern or trying to resolve the situation, I felt dismissed and unwelcome. Customer service is just as important as the quality of the food, and this experience overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable meal. I left very disappointed and, because of the way the situation was handled, I will not be returning to Benihana. My family and I came in for the 45-minute lunch special they had advertised. I asked the host what the difference was in the cut sizes for the special. They said they didnt know. No big deal; we were seated for about ten minutes before our server came to take drink and appetizer orders. When he came back with the drinks, I asked about the steak sizing for the lunch special, and he said we're "not allowed" to order from the menu because of the table we were seated at. I asked to be moved, and he said we couldn't because we had already started the meal ordering process and were "not allowed" to order appetizers with the 45-minute lunch menu as well.... We went to Benihana yesterday for an early dinner. Didn't need to wait our table was ready when we arrived. Our waiter was ready to suggest Wagyu steaks. We came to Benihana to celebrate my mom's birthday. We had a 2pm reservation and, even though we were running a little behind, the staff was able to seat us quickly, which I appreciated. Overall, the experience was good, but there were a few things that could have been better. First, this location charges an additional $8 for fried rice on the weekends if you're seated at the hibachi grill. Regular tables don't have this charge, which felt unnecessary. Honestly, I'd prefer they just include the cost in the meal rather than tacking on an extra fee. Second, I was surprised that this location didn't offer yum yum sauce. At most hibachi grill restaurants, you get a ginger-based sauce and a creamy yum yum sauce. I specifically asked for yum yum and was given a thick, flavorless sauce instead. I would have preferred they simply let us know it wasn't available. Other than those two issues, the meal and service were good. This may have been my first time at Benihana but I had always seen people's photos or videos or what not and thought to myself, wait have I really never been?! Fast forward to a recent get together with my extended family, we brought both my kid and my nephew and this was my kid's first time at Benihana and he was so impressed and so mind blown! The bartender in particular has had a major attitude on more than one visit, which is frustrating when you're paying premium prices. Cynthia was very rude. Straight up ignored me. The ambiance was okay but the floors were a mess, I get it was busy but come on is a freaking restaurant. They moved us from our table across the room to facilitate accommodation to a large group of people and we were okay with the other guests around our table. You can enjoy sitting at the hibachi, where the chef will cook the food in front of you (fun), or sit in the bar/lounge at a booth or regular table and skip all of that. My family and I were very excited to go into the restaurant and have a nice experience however, the grill master seem to be rather disinterested in cooking for us and we didn't get a whole lot of the extra frills that you normally would at a Benihana experience. The food was OK....a bit bland but the sauces help. We got exactly what we ordered however, I did feel like since my grandmother preferenced that she didn't want certain vegetables that should've been adhered to. The chef still gave them to her so she had to pick out her food which made her experience a little more frustrating. There was also a billing issue with the other party which made departure difficult since we had to work that out. Roger took care of us at the table and he is genuinely the best. You know those managers who just get it!? We finally got our main entrees at 1010pm! This is not dinner, it is midnight snack! (Note, NOT chef's fault, he was cooking nonstop as fast as he can). So the bill came, they have the nerve to charge TWO edamames! Unbelievable. At 1045p, we are finally leaving, decided to stop in the bathroom, oh my gosh it is dirty and filty, wet counter, out of soap, tissues and napkins on the floor inside, in the stalls, and outside the bathroom entrance. It is such a terrible experience. There was a lobby full of people who have to wait 1.5 hours for their RESERVATIONS! How can a restaurant like this isn't capable of effectively managing their reservation system??? The prices is a direct contrast of the quality of food or service. Mediocre food at best, bare minimum wait service, rude and unprofessional hostess. Despite arriving before the dinner rush and seeing many empty tables, we were denied a request to move to a more comfortable seating arrangement. Service was disappointing from the start. Two waiters introduced themselves, but throughout the evening we constantly had to flag someone down for assistance. My drink sat empty for most of the meal, and I didn't receive water until near the end of dinner. We ordered an appetizer that was mistakenly delivered to the table next to us. I know it was ours because that party had just been seated and had only ordered drinks. Despite ordering it early, we didn't receive our appetizer until halfway through our meal after we brought it to the waiter's attention. Our chef was very kind and I don't fault him personally. However, the Benihana experience simply isn't what it used to be. The interactive show that made dining here special felt almost nonexistent. Aside from the standard rice trick and onion volcano, there was very little engagement or entertainment. the cooking process seemed disorganized with frequent requests for missing ingredients and supplies. What was most confusing was the amount of staff standing around while tables struggled to get service. Tables sat empty, and there were plenty of employees visible, yet very few actively attending to guests. The restaurant didn't appear understaffed, it appeared poorly managed. Before visiting, I read some Yelp reviews and assumed the negative experiences might be isolated incidents. Unfortunately, after spending $400 on dinner, I can say those reviews seem accurate. For that price point, guests should expect attentive service, a seamless dining experience, and the entertaining teppanyaki show Benihana is known for! The irony was receiving a QR code at the end of the meal asking for a review. I don't enjoy leaving negative feedback, but management needs to invest in better training, stronger customer service, and restoring the experience that once made Benihana worth the cost.
