The bartender in particular has had a major attitude on more than one visit, which is frustrating when you're paying premium prices. Cynthia was very rude. Straight up ignored me. We came to Benihana to celebrate my mom's birthday. We had a 2pm reservation and, even though we were running a little behind, the staff was able to seat us quickly, which I appreciated. Overall, the experience was good, but there were a few things that could have been better. First, this location charges an additional $8 for fried rice on the weekends if you're seated at the hibachi grill. Regular tables don't have this charge, which felt unnecessary. Honestly, I'd prefer they just include the cost in the meal rather than tacking on an extra fee. Second, I was surprised that this location didn't offer yum yum sauce. At most hibachi grill restaurants, you get a ginger-based sauce and a creamy yum yum sauce. I specifically asked for yum yum and was given a thick, flavorless sauce instead. I would have preferred they simply let us know it wasn't available. Other than those two issues, the meal and service were good. Our Teppanyaki chef Ernesto was a bit lackluster even our waiter said he doesn't do all the fancy tricks and stuff. Was greet by the host Antione, who let me know they were not sitting people for the Power Lunch. Very disappointed I asked to speak to management who solved the problem expeditiously. You can enjoy sitting at the hibachi, where the chef will cook the food in front of you (fun), or sit in the bar/lounge at a booth or regular table and skip all of that. The ambiance is fairly nice for a chain restaurant. I often order off of the sushi menu, but my family likes the hibachi chicken and habachi steak. The fried rice is yummy. My family and I were very excited to go into the restaurant and have a nice experience however, the grill master seem to be rather disinterested in cooking for us and we didn't get a whole lot of the extra frills that you normally would at a Benihana experience. We got exactly what we ordered however, I did feel like since my grandmother preferenced that she didn't want certain vegetables that should've been adhered to. My sister's and I came for lunch today and it was not the experience I was expecting. #1 they appear to be understaffed because it took a LONG time for us to get a chef over to get started on our meals. At 1045p, we are finally leaving, decided to stop in the bathroom, oh my gosh it is dirty and filty, wet counter, out of soap, tissues and napkins on the floor inside, in the stalls, and outside the bathroom entrance. It is such a terrible experience. There was a lobby full of people who have to wait 1.5 hours for their RESERVATIONS! How can a restaurant like this isn't capable of effectively managing their reservation system??? The prices is a direct contrast of the quality of food or service. Very disappointed in the service for somewhere my family and I go all the time for lunch, happy hour and dinner, bday etc. I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent dining experience at your restaurant on January 23, 2026. This visit was meant to celebrate my husband's birthday, but unfortunately it was negatively impacted by billing errors and unprofessional handling of the situation by staff. During our visit, I placed the following order with our server: * For my husband: two shrimp fried rices with added shrimp * For myself: two shrimp fried rices with added steak When the bill arrived, I noticed we were incorrectly charged for **Hibachi Shrimp** and **Hibachi Steak entrées**, which is not what we ordered. I immediately brought this to the server's (Saliha) attention, and her response was, *"But did the cook cook all the food?"* -- a comment I found dismissive and inappropriate given the clear ordering mistake. I then requested to speak with the manager (JACKIE). After explaining the issue, the manager informed me she would remove the entrée charges and only charge us for the rice, but stated she needed the food returned. At this point, our food had already been boxed and bagged. She asked me to walk back to the table and bring the food to her, rather than coming to the table herself. I complied, and the revised bill reflected the removal of the entrée charges. However, I later realized that **all of our food was taken**, including the rice that I had paid for. This felt extremely unprofessional, especially considering the error was caused by the server and not by us. Additionally, we ordered in this manner due to my husband's dietary needs, which made the situation even more disappointing. What was meant to be a special birthday dinner turned into an uncomfortable and frustrating experience due to poor service, lack of accountability, and unprofessional conduct. I have always associated Benihana with quality service and hospitality, which is why this experience was so surprising. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used as an opportunity for improvement. I would appreciate a follow-up regarding this matter. Sad to write this review. I am utterly disappointed in our last visit to Benihanas in Concord. We have been here many times before as a couple but this time was our first time with our kids. I was so excited for them to have their first Teppanyaki experience, only to be left very disappointed. The food was good which is why I gave two stars. For context, it was my daughter's birthday and she was so excited for this. Our chef gave little to no effort, literally no type of show at all whatsoever. He cooked, cut and served. From past experiences, when you first arrive they ask if you're celebrating anything because towards the end of your meal, they usually come out themselves but that did not happen. When we were finally seated, it took another 15 mins to get our order taken, and it was by the manager, no waiters were coming by, I think they only had 2 waiters on service which is nuts. Salads never came until we bugged the manager twice for them. Appetizer never came until I bugged him three times for it, and he brought them as we were eating our entrees. Kids chicken tenders also never came until we bugged the manager for it. Basically anything that needed to be brought out by a waiter took forever and had to be pestered to bring by. My kids were starving, it was like 8:30 before they got food and my reservation was at 6:30. Our hibachi chef was good and I enjoyed my food, but our table was a mess because empty glasses and bowls weren't being taken away. Water wasn't being refilled. Everything was so slow. We didn't make it out of there until 9:30 (on a 6:30 reservation!). My kids were so tired. There was a party that was seated at the grill on the other side of the room I was in that I witnessed several people get up and leave because it was taking too long to have their orders taken. I visited Benihana Concord on January 17 to celebrate my birthday with my family, and unfortunately the experience was very frustrating. To start with the positives: the food itself was good, and we were seated promptly for our 7:00 PM teppanyaki reservation despite the restaurant being busy. Making the reservation was easy, and the evening started off smoothly. The main reason I chose Benihana was to use the $50 birthday reward offered through Benihana's loyalty program. When we were first seated, I specifically asked our waitress if I could use both the $50 birthday reward and the free appetizer on the same bill. She nodded and confirmed that it was okay, so I trusted her guidance and ordered accordingly. Shortly after the chef arrived, our original server informed us she was going on a 30-minute break and that another server would be taking over. From that point on, the experience began to fall apart. The replacement server rarely checked on us, and we never received the special butters or the steamed rice that are supposed to come with the hibachi meal we ordered. We eventually had to ask about them at the end of our meal, and by that point the timing was so off that we ended up taking the steamed rice to go & cancelling our butters . After multiple conversations with two different servers following our original server's departure, a manager finally came over and said the special butters would be removed from the bill since they were never brought out. However, when the check arrived, none of the issues had been corrected, and none of the rewards we had discussed were applied. This was especially frustrating. To make matters worse, the staff said they could not access my birthday voucher, and one servers even asked whether I had already used it earlier in the week--implying I might be trying to use it twice. That was upsetting, particularly on my birthday, especially considering I had email confirmation directly from Benihana's loyalty program after contacting them less than three days prior to ensure the voucher was valid. After waiting approximately 20 minutes and going back and forth with multiple servers, a manager finally came over again and explained that only one reward could be used at a time and that they were unable to process or access the voucher. This directly contradicted what our original server had told me at the start of the meal. Ultimately, after a long runaround, the manager did apply the $50 discount, but it genuinely felt like I had to fight for something I specifically chose this restaurant to use on my birthday. I also ended up paying for the appetizer that I was told could be covered by the free starter reward from there loyalty program. While the food was good, the service and communication were extremely disorganized and honestly unacceptable. Having to deal with multiple servers and repeated manager interactions just to use a birthday reward completely took away from what should have been a special occasion. Burrito to go naw terrible!!! The dine in experience is better. Just don't get a burrito at a steak restaurant.

I'm honestly torn between never going back to Benihana again--or just never going back on Mother's Day. I made a reservation a week in advance for 4:45 PM for four people (two adults and two children), but we ended up waiting nearly an hour to be seated. When we were finally called, they squeezed all four of us into just two seats at the end of a table, where neither child had proper access to the cooking surface. It was a frustrating experience, especially seeing other families around us properly seated with full accommodations. To be clear, the food was great and our chef was fantastic--I still left a tip out of respect for the staff working hard under difficult circumstances. But overall, this felt like the best worst experience I could've had while trying to celebrate my wife on Mother's Day. Benihana really needs to rethink how they manage reservations during peak holidays. Either honor booked times more reliably or limit how many reservations are taken to avoid overbooking and poor seating arrangements. read more
