This is a late post but I went in February to celebrate my birthday, I had made a reservation and got sat down over an hour late. The ambiance was okay but the floors were a mess, I get it was busy but come on is a freaking restaurant. They moved us from our table across the room to facilitate accommodation to a large group of people and we were okay with the other guests around our table. Weren't offered anything apologies except thanks for moving tables. The food was okay, my daughter's chicken strips were overcooked and the price, well everyone knows is expensive. I recently stopped by for a hibachi lunch, and the experience was nothing short of spectacular, thanks to the incredible team of Roger and Kaleo. First off Roger is phenomenal! Roger took care of us at the table and he is genuinely the best. You know those managers who just get it!? He kept our drinks full and made sure the timing of the courses was spot on, all while being super friendly and fun to chat with. He made us feel like family. Kaleo- sometimes lunch service at popular restaurants can feel a bit rushed, but Kaleo was the total opposite. He was incredibly welcoming, super quick with the refills, and had this great energy that instantly put us in a good mood. That was a little disappointing. The lobster tail was also smaller than what I could recall from past visits. Restaurant has a festive yet casual vibe but the quality is not worth paying full prices for at dinner. My husband and I came here last year for my birthday, and the experience wasn't great. We decided to give Benihana another chance this year, hoping things would be better. Unfortunately, it was even worse. We came on a Tuesday when it wasn't busy, but it still took about 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. After ordering, we waited at least 30 minutes for our food, and when it finally arrived, it had absolutely no flavor. I asked the manager for some garlic butter to help, but after waiting another 10 minutes, it never came. At that point, we spoke with a manager and decided to leave. My sister's and I came for lunch today and it was not the experience I was expecting. #1 they appear to be understaffed because it took a LONG time for us to get a chef over to get started on our meals. My sister made note that the chefs at the tables all around us (2) were all very melancholy and seemed to be disinterested in being or seeming happy. Our server was a lady with a ponytail and she was very nice and friendly & she went to check on our chef once i asked. After not having gone to Benihana in years, my family and I were so pleasantly surprised at the their new Waygu of then World menu especially them offering Japanese A5 Waygu for less than $100. My boyfriend and I went to this location to celebrate our 3 year anniversary (3/21/26), I was confused on which was the menu (which is my fault should of looked more thoroughly) when my waiter came by to ask if we were ready to order I asked for menus, he then said "that is the menu" I told him that's my bad and thank you. When we were finally seated, it took another 15 mins to get our order taken, and it was by the manager, no waiters were coming by, I think they only had 2 waiters on service which is nuts. Salads never came until we bugged the manager twice for them. Appetizer never came until I bugged him three times for it, and he brought them as we were eating our entrees. Kids chicken tenders also never came until we bugged the manager for it. Basically anything that needed to be brought out by a waiter took forever and had to be pestered to bring by. My kids were starving, it was like 8:30 before they got food and my reservation was at 6:30. Our hibachi chef was good and I enjoyed my food, but our table was a mess because empty glasses and bowls weren't being taken away. Water wasn't being refilled. Everything was so slow. We didn't make it out of there until 9:30 (on a 6:30 reservation!). My kids were so tired. There was a party that was seated at the grill on the other side of the room I was in that I witnessed several people get up and leave because it was taking too long to have their orders taken. Despite arriving before the dinner rush and seeing many empty tables, we were denied a request to move to a more comfortable seating arrangement. Service was disappointing from the start. My drink sat empty for most of the meal, and I didn't receive water until near the end of dinner. We ordered an appetizer that was mistakenly delivered to the table next to us. I know it was ours because that party had just been seated and had only ordered drinks. Despite ordering it early, we didn't receive our appetizer until halfway through our meal after we brought it to the waiter's attention. Our chef was very kind and I don't fault him personally. However, the Benihana experience simply isn't what it used to be. The interactive show that made dining here special felt almost nonexistent. Aside from the standard rice trick and onion volcano, there was very little engagement or entertainment. the cooking process seemed disorganized with frequent requests for missing ingredients and supplies. What was most confusing was the amount of staff standing around while tables struggled to get service. Tables sat empty, and there were plenty of employees visible, yet very few actively attending to guests. The restaurant didn't appear understaffed, it appeared poorly managed. Before visiting, I read some Yelp reviews and assumed the negative experiences might be isolated incidents. Unfortunately, after spending $400 on dinner, I can say those reviews seem accurate. For that price point, guests should expect attentive service, a seamless dining experience, and the entertaining teppanyaki show Benihana is known for! The irony was receiving a QR code at the end of the meal asking for a review. I don't enjoy leaving negative feedback, but management needs to invest in better training, stronger customer service, and restoring the experience that once made Benihana worth the cost. I made a reservation a week in advance for 4:45 PM for four people (two adults and two children), but we ended up waiting nearly an hour to be seated. When we were finally called, they squeezed all four of us into just two seats at the end of a table, where neither child had proper access to the cooking surface. It was a frustrating experience, especially seeing other families around us properly seated with full accommodations. To be clear, the food was great and our chef was fantastic--I still left a tip out of respect for the staff working hard under difficult circumstances. But overall, this felt like the best worst experience I could've had while trying to celebrate my wife on Mother's Day. Benihana really needs to rethink how they manage reservations during peak holidays. Very disappointed in the service for somewhere my family and I go all the time for lunch, happy hour and dinner, bday etc. I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent dining experience at your restaurant on January 23, 2026. This visit was meant to celebrate my husband's birthday, but unfortunately it was negatively impacted by billing errors and unprofessional handling of the situation by staff. During our visit, I placed the following order with our server: * For my husband: two shrimp fried rices with added shrimp * For myself: two shrimp fried rices with added steak When the bill arrived, I noticed we were incorrectly charged for **Hibachi Shrimp** and **Hibachi Steak entrées**, which is not what we ordered. I immediately brought this to the server's (Saliha) attention, and her response was, *"But did the cook cook all the food?"* -- a comment I found dismissive and inappropriate given the clear ordering mistake. I then requested to speak with the manager (JACKIE). After explaining the issue, the manager informed me she would remove the entrée charges and only charge us for the rice, but stated she needed the food returned. At this point, our food had already been boxed and bagged. She asked me to walk back to the table and bring the food to her, rather than coming to the table herself. I complied, and the revised bill reflected the removal of the entrée charges. However, I later realized that **all of our food was taken**, including the rice that I had paid for. This felt extremely unprofessional, especially considering the error was caused by the server and not by us. Additionally, we ordered in this manner due to my husband's dietary needs, which made the situation even more disappointing. What was meant to be a special birthday dinner turned into an uncomfortable and frustrating experience due to poor service, lack of accountability, and unprofessional conduct. I have always associated Benihana with quality service and hospitality, which is why this experience was so surprising. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used as an opportunity for improvement. I would appreciate a follow-up regarding this matter. I had not been to a Benihana is YEARS! We don't have one near our house. We were in the area shopping and decided to stop in. So glad we did! There is a large parking lot in front and in back. Easy access to the freeway in Concord. The restaurant has been refreshed and brightened since I've been here. So we came at a totally off time - around 2:30 - and were delighted to have a whole cooktop area just to ourselves! They serve lunch until 3:00 and offer great rates on the earlier dining. We were stuffed!! The cocktails are 10/10 and the food is 10/10 too. Get the teriyaki steak! YUM. The hostess was SO lovely. Our waiter was kind and cheerful and our chef was excellent too. When we arrived at our reservation time, the restaurant was very busy and they asked us to wait a few minutes before they sat us. They sat us around 6:45 PM. Unfortunately, the service was very slow from here on out. The chef didn't come out to start cooking until 7:30 PM. There were also a few instances throughout the meal, where my husband and I had empty water glasses for 10+ minutes at a time. The server and chef were very nice and the food was as good as expected. This five star review is for Chef Omar. We've been to Benihana multiple times but our last visit we had him and he was simply the best. Before all the food was consistently good but he took it beyond. He's a damn good chef! I noticed the way he cooked the zucchini was a little different from the other guys. He's slathered the butter and seasonings right in the zucchini before grilling them. All of the proteins came out perfectly. He showed us new tricks with the fried rice. I noticed when he drew the egg drawing he outlined it with oil first. The other cooks didn't do that. He really is a superior chef! Upon arrival my large plate wasn't fully cleaned. We asked the server for a new one. But after several back and forth between taking drink orders, delivering appetizers, she still forgot or wasn't able to get to that yet. Omar noticed immediately when he entered his station and grabbed a new clean plate for me asap (right before the server came back with one). So he delivered excellent customer service on top of being an amazing cook! Is it possible to tell them to give Omar a raise? Or maybe next time we make a reservation I'll try to request him. I visited Benihana Concord on January 17 to celebrate my birthday with my family, and unfortunately the experience was very frustrating. To start with the positives: the food itself was good, and we were seated promptly for our 7:00 PM teppanyaki reservation despite the restaurant being busy. Making the reservation was easy, and the evening started off smoothly. The main reason I chose Benihana was to use the $50 birthday reward offered through Benihana's loyalty program. When we were first seated, I specifically asked our waitress if I could use both the $50 birthday reward and the free appetizer on the same bill. She nodded and confirmed that it was okay, so I trusted her guidance and ordered accordingly. Shortly after the chef arrived, our original server informed us she was going on a 30-minute break and that another server would be taking over. From that point on, the experience began to fall apart. The replacement server rarely checked on us, and we never received the special butters or the steamed rice that are supposed to come with the hibachi meal we ordered. We eventually had to ask about them at the end of our meal, and by that point the timing was so off that we ended up taking the steamed rice to go & cancelling our butters . After multiple conversations with two different servers following our original server's departure, a manager finally came over and said the special butters would be removed from the bill since they were never brought out. However, when the check arrived, none of the issues had been corrected, and none of the rewards we had discussed were applied. This was especially frustrating. To make matters worse, the staff said they could not access my birthday voucher, and one servers even asked whether I had already used it earlier in the week--implying I might be trying to use it twice. That was upsetting, particularly on my birthday, especially considering I had email confirmation directly from Benihana's loyalty program after contacting them less than three days prior to ensure the voucher was valid. After waiting approximately 20 minutes and going back and forth with multiple servers, a manager finally came over again and explained that only one reward could be used at a time and that they were unable to process or access the voucher. This directly contradicted what our original server had told me at the start of the meal. Ultimately, after a long runaround, the manager did apply the $50 discount, but it genuinely felt like I had to fight for something I specifically chose this restaurant to use on my birthday. I also ended up paying for the appetizer that I was told could be covered by the free starter reward from there loyalty program. While the food was good, the service and communication were extremely disorganized and honestly unacceptable. Having to deal with multiple servers and repeated manager interactions just to use a birthday reward completely took away from what should have been a special occasion. This was my first and last visit to a Benihana restaurant. I would not recommend this location, especially for a celebration or special event. read more

I had a reservation for my sons 8th birthday for 6pm. At 5:46pm we received a text from Benihana saying our table was ready. We went and told them we received this text saying our table was ready and were informed by the hostess very rudely that the text didn't come from them and had nothing to do with them it was AI driven. Okay no problem, I understand sometimes you may need to wait a few minutes with a reservation. We checked multiple times until our table was finally ready at 6:40pm. Once sat at the table it wasn't until 7:05pm we received fountain drinks and water. We didn't receive soup or salad until 7:20pm. All of our meals came with white rice and all but one meal added chicken fried rice. We were told all meals would still come with white rice. The white rice never came and when we asked for it (practically done with meal) was informed they were all out and trying to make more. My daughter will only eat white rice so that was a major bummer for her. Then once dessert came we were told that the vanilla ice cream we had ordered was not available. We spent almost $400 for an awful dining experience. Thank goodness my son enjoyed our chef William who was amazing. I feel like this put a major damper on his birthday. Our dinner started with being seated on old torn chairs, chef had performed kiddie tricks for 2 minutes, onions were burnt, each person got one slice of a zucchini chopped in 5 little pieces, standard of food presentation was old and not appetizing and prices of everything beyond high. I do not like bringing home a hundred meal leftover in a brown cheap box.
