Outstanding park with a beautiful north view overlooking Diamond Bar, parts of San Gabriel Valley (and mountains). Does not have the biggest grassy area, but there is a cool trail that connects you from DB Blvd. up to the park. Fun for hikers and people with dogs, and exercise buffs. I'm not quite sure this is called Summitridge Trail or Grand View Trail because it has many names such as Canyon Loop or Diamond Bar Loop. Anyhow, we parked our car at the Diamond Bar City Center then we started to hike. This trail is about a 1.5-mile loop trail. It takes an average of 47 min to complete. I would say this is an easy hike for us. However, we enjoyed this beautiful trail with some nice views up on the mountain. Some sections are a little steep but not to the top. This is a popular trail for hiking. We hiked on New Year's Day and the weather was so nice and it had a lot of people there. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. read more

My friend & I hiked here yesterday & the weather was perfect for it. Not too cold or too hot. We only hiked about 2.5 miles bc we were tight on time but I'm sure you can hike longer depending on how far you want to go as there were different trails. For a short hike, I liked that the trail wasn't just flat but there were pretty steep inclines. I consider it a moderate hike. I plan to definitely come back for a longer hike. read more

Based on other people's reviews, this park looks amazing during the day. But I have to say, if you get a chance to visit during dusk like I did, it might be even more amazing. Not just because the trails are fantastic without being too steep or difficult, but because this location gives you some amazing views of the area and allows you to witness some truly spectacular sunsets. I was totally blown away by the natural beauty with the sun slowly setting in the background. When you see the skies change from the reds and oranges to the deep purples, you truly feel how magnificent everything around you is. Don't miss out on coming here. This is one of those "on top of the world" type of hike. I came here on a solo mission to get a morning workout in, something different from my usual gym routine.. you know. There was plenty of parking for a Sunday and fairly easy to get on the trails. As I was walking this hike I began thinking to myself like, woooow such a beautiful place to venture the depths! There's alot of doggo poop on the trails from my encounter though so pls watch your steps! I really do wish people would be more considerate and pick up after their pets. Nobody wants to be in a stinky situation... I felt completely safe from beginning to end. ALOT of incline with not much shade around imo so I suggest coming when the weather is cooler. The dirt can get a little slippery so I advise wearing your good grip shoes (I almost slipped a few times). Loved all the hills, stairs and most importantly the scenic view! I would 10/10 recommend and come back again with friends read more

What a beautiful park! We were looking for some new places to hike and Summit-ridge Park came up on yelp with almost five stars. The park itself is beautiful, big, has a multi use center with restrooms, located in a great safe area, plenty of parking and the reason why we came, hiking trails. Some people stated it is an easy trail, which we found out that was not really the case. Tons of hills with good sized inclines and declines. All doable if you are in decent shape. So know your limits or take water and some trail mix just in case you burn too much energy in some of those sections. The trail goes behind some neighborhoods, but certain areas are secluded. No way you will get lost. Just follow the dirt trail all around. Great place to get in a good work out. read more

Awesome hiking trail in Diamond Bar that's perfect for shorter (30-60 minute) hikes. The trail itself is fairly steep but still well paved for anyone looking for exercise. I enjoyed their stairs and paved trail, but one thing that made it a challenge was the recent storms and rain in the area. A good portion of the trial had slippery and muddy areas that were not easily passed. There was also some areas of confusion because although it says "Canyon Loop" it isn't quite obvious where the loop is since there aren't too many signs to guide you along the trail. Around the 40-minute mark, I noticed that had I not tried to venture towards where I think I came from, I would've gotten lost. I wasn't sure if there was a "proper" way to hike this trail, since I noticed that I was going against the direction of other people. read more

This is one of the best and larger parks in Diamond Bar. The park is clean and always well maintained. On the southern end of the park is a large grass field and a baseball field. On the northern end is the Diamond Bar Center which I believe is available for events once this COVID-19 pandemic is over. If you're looking to get into hiking or running trails, this is a great place to begin. On the northwest end is the Grandview trailhead. On the northeast end is the Diamond Bar Center trailhead. There are some great views to be enjoyed all along the trail system. If you plan to bring your dog, please have them on a leash and pick up after them. There's also a bit of Diamond Bar history at the 3 flag poles. That's worth checking out if you're into that stuff. read more

Surprisingly good trail. Took the kiddos here for their first hike ever and they enjoyed it! There are parts of the trail that's under construction but the majority is open. Excited to see it completed. Plenty of parking for a Saturday. Just disappointed that there's no restroom nearby or at least a porta potty. read more

Great place to come out on Wed evenings for the Concert in the park series this summer! Live music with a couple of food trucks that change every week. We usually get here an hour before concert starts and bring lawn chairs blankets and dinner. Great crowd of people and always have local law enforcement there to keep everything running smooth. After the concert when its getting dark, there is a movie projected on a giant screen for the kids. read more

I used to live with my sister's family in Diamond Bar and never knew this place existed until one day i was exploring on yelp where i can take my dog hiking during sunrise. The place is right next to the beautiful Diamond Bar Activity Center and has plenty of parking when I went (of course it was a weekday so idk). The views from Summitridge are just incredible. You are on top of the mountain overlooking Diamond Bar and you can see the grand mansions of The Country and also the busy roads in City of Industry. There are rest areas on the trail for you to get a good photo. I even got to fly my drone around there. read more

Discovered this place the other day when I wanted to go on a hike. While it leads to Summit Hike which is like a super steep trail, the views around it are amazing. I was able to see the hawks flying by, as well as watch the sunset in a perfect spot alone. Super great to do some yoga in some quiet if you go up the hill and walk by the trees/bushes. Kids play soccer over there and they have baseball fields as well. I saw a lot of people there with their children, and it was all in all a very safe looking park. I am definitely going to be back again! read more

I can't even begin to count how many times I've been to Summitridge Park to hike. I have so many memories of this place over the last five years, from helping friends fulfill new years exercise resolutions to those deep talks about life while enjoying the view of the neighbouring cities. It's a short hike, and can go as long as 3.5 miles depending on the route you take, but it's pretty moderate in terms of difficulty. For a first timer, yes, this will make your calves feel like they're on fire. For experienced hikers like myself, it'll be a nice day's walk that gets your heart rate up and burns them calories all while enjoying a decent view of the area. I can say this though: you're definitely one with nature on this hike. There's a part of the trail where you're deep in between the two hills where it's sort of forest-y, making it feel like you're in a forest in Northern England rather than the actual drier landscape that plagues the area. Definitely worth a try if you're looking to break a sweat without breaking the bank at a gym. This is nature's gym, my friends. Being able to enjoy a slice of nature is what we all need in these times so get off the couch and get hiking! I'm here three days of the week every week so don't be afraid to say hi. Doggie bags are available if you forgot to bring some to pick up after your furry friend. Hiking Trail: It's a short trail! You get a few steep hills, some stairs, great views! Some areas of the trail are wider than others. Some areas are heavily shaded while others are not. You get a nice view of the mountains and surrounding cities. Short hike but perfect for a quick stroll and workout. I break a sweat walking up the stairs. When I was super fit I would walk up and down about 10 times until I my legs were shaking. This is truly a tiny hidden paradise in the city of Diamond Bar - one of many beautiful suburban cities in Los Angeles County. Although it's not a long trail (about close to 3 miles it seems) it's definitely a nice little hike w/steep inclines. What's also nice is that it's not overly populated like the other surrounding, if anything, I think the day & early time we went, there were a total of 3 to 5 people. Nice! Beautiful views at the top, with nice big Trail signs that sorta guide you as to what your looking at and giving direction. You'll see sweet & friendly people strolling/hiking about and some doing relaxing exercises, meditating, Tai Chi and singing/humming a melodic harmonious rhythm. It's just so darn cute! Parking is on top of the park located right at the Community Center. Or you can park at the lower residential street, there's also an entrance there. There are also 3 other nearby trails, however I don't believe (correct me if I'm wrong please) the trails lead from here. Still, it's all so close and just worth it. read more

I felt like Goldilocks upon finishing this hike. It was JUST RIGHT. I really love this place. Perfect place for a hike. I warn, it is not for the faint of heart, nor is it a good place to go to smack dab in the middle of the day (no shade), and finally it's not a long trail. Several areas of the trail are super steep, but not steep enough that you can't make it through (this coming from someone with a MAJOR fear of heights). The trails are super clean, no dog poo or trash anywhere. I also liked how empty it was. Summitridge doesn't have the noisy, boisterous crowds I've seen at other neighborhood hiking trails (Runyon, Hellman, Baldwin Hills). For this, I am totally grateful. The trail is basically one big loop. There is a big Easter Egg hidden on this trail, I took a picture of it. It was probably the most awesome find on a hiking trail ever. I wonder how it got there, and why it's only partial. It looks really old. My thing is, LOOK at where it's at!! Did it get carried in there? Did it drive in there? And the bullet holes?? CRAZY! I loved the politeness of the people on this trail. There's nothing like hiking early in the morning and saying hello, good morning to every person you pass. As for the views, wow. Just wow. Everywhere you turn you can see different sights. I truly appreciate the view guides posted along the trail. They tell you a little history about the area and show what you're looking at (Mt. Wilson, Cucamonga Peak, etc). I went during early morning and the temperature was just right. I took a hat, wore sunblock, and took a hiking pole just in case (it's good to use if you're afraid of heights and there's a steep drop). The hiking poles came in SO handy for me and my friend. I didn't see a rattlesnake but I did see a few bunnies. Summitridge Park looks like an awesome place to hike at sunset. The views are amazing. I can't wait to hike this trail again! This park/ hiking trail is amazing! You can easily access this hike by driving to the Diamond Bar Community Center, where you can easily find lots of free parking. At the parking lot, you have two choices on how you want to start your hike. If you start on the trail on the right, you will immediately encounter a very steep incline. I am talking about running out of your breath in the first 5 min type of steep hike. So be prepared if you are not used to doing this type of hike. If you take the trail entrance on the left, you will immediately go down on some stairs, and it will be a downhill hike for like 20 min. Not for long of course. You will soon encounter some fun incline as well. During hot summers, you will usually see lots of fire-ants on this hike. Sometimes you might even see a rattlesnake. I have seen a few of them so far, so definitely be careful while you are on this hike. I always would definitely not bring any small children on this hike because of how steep it is on some parts of it. I would also recommend taking a picture of the trail map before you go on the hike, as this place offers you several trails to choose from. That's why I love this place. It offers some many different options to explore its natural beauty. Also, the best time to come to this place for a hike is probably toward the late afternoon, as it is not as hot then. There is not a lot of shades during the hike, so it can get pretty hot if you come here earlier than that. Overall, this is a very nice hiking spot that offers you many things to see, from nature to the cityview of the surrounding cities. read more

My wife decided she was in the mood to hit some trails. I'm always up for a good workout. Thanks to Yelp we found this hidden gem of a hiking park in Diamond Bar. We parked at the bottom of the Diamond Bar Community Center and we walked up the first hill towards the summit. I was impressed by the steep hills and the distance around the park. Even our dog Scooby got a good workout pulling my wife up the hills. My wife's favorite part were the steps back to the community center. Now those steps will give you a good gluteus maximus workout. The scenery is great and I enjoyed the kiosks along the route with California and regional history. Don't forget your camera for some cool photo oppotunites. If you are in the mood for a quick steep hike, and a good workout, Summitridge Park will help you and your doggy friend achieve that. read more

Despite the fact I lived in Diamond Bar for almost 18 years, I never knew it had any hiking trails until my friend suggested we go to the Summitridge Park Hiking Trail. It's not that surprising since DB has so many hills and random deer, coyotes and other animals everywhere. So sad, I could have had memories of hiking this trail as a child, but I guess better late than never! The Summitridge Park trail entrance can be found next to the Diamond Bar Center. Don't park at the small lot next to the Summitridge Park sign, but go up the hill towards the Diamond Bar Center building and park at their lot (unless you want to do some extra hiking). Once you park, you can already see the beginning of the trail near the sidewalk. The trail is 3 miles roundtrip and it gives you a panoramic view of Diamond Bar and parts of San Gabriel Valley, which was nice to see. The trail is also well maintained and it's hard to get lost. It does have an occasional steep hill, but if you've hiked before, then it's nothing too challenging. I did the hike with my friends who don't often hike and they were able to complete it easily. My boyfriend, who is used to hiking, found the hike so easy that he ditched our group and ran the trail by himself. He even saw a deer on the trail. My boyfriend actually found another trail as he ran the Summitridge Park trail called Steep Canyon (http://www.yelp.com/biz/steep-canyon-trailhead-diamond-bar), and the hills for that trail were much steeper. So if you're looking for an additional challenge when you hike, then you can try that trail as well. Even with my friends not being used to hiking, it only took us an hour to complete the hike. If you are new to running or want to practice trail running, then this is a good place to start. If you have already done a lot of hiking before, this probably isn't your cup of tea. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking footwear because we saw thousands of red fire ants everywhere on the ground at certain points of the trail. We also hiked in summer, and DB can get pretty hot around that time (90 degrees+). Most of the trail has no shade so be sure to wear sunscreen and bring water to stay hydrated. This is a great place spend a quiet moment by yourself or with somebody special. The park crowns the western peak of a hill giving you a gorgeous view of the San Gabriel valley with Downtown LA in the distance. It's located far enough away from main streets to keep the noise to a minimum. Within the park is the Diamond Bar Center - a beautiful community center that is quite popular for weddings. If you plan on having yours there, you might need to wait a while. Summertime weddings have been booked up for at least a year, maybe two. The park is also located across from an upper-class housing complex where Snoop Dogg (supposedly) lives. I've never seen him at the park, though. Probably a good thing. read more

I went to Summitridge Park on Sunday (at probably the worst time possible - noon) but had a great hike. It is easy to find, easy to park, and will kick your butt with all the different inclines. Only took about 1.5 hours, but was definitely a workout. There are warning signs for rattlesnakes, but I didn't see any. Also, the trails are very clean. No dog or horse poo! I remember when I was a kid and we called this "Exercise Park" bc there were stops along the trail where you could do push ups, chin ups, etc. Those all seem to be gone. Now there is a huge and very nice Community Center that was built a few years ago. The trails are still there, but no more exercise stops. The trail starts at the back of the Center, to the right of the "stream". You can park in the Center lot right at the start of the lot, or if you want to add a few steps to your hike, there is also a small lot right off Grand Ave, across the street from the entrance to The Country (gated community). You start by going down some steps, then are met with a very steep incline. That first incline already got me losing my breath. Great views on the top, that is if there isn't smog, and there always is! Keep along the Steep trail and you will come to a fork. Keep to the right to continue on the Steep trail. You will come back to the Canyon trail on the way back. Some of the steep declines have very loose gravel and dirt, and I slipped several times but thankfully didn't fall. Plus it was hot, so don't forget your sunscreen, there's hardly any shade. However, the hike isn't long enough to really get sore, unless you run up those hills. No thanks.
