The trail was a great experience! Just make sure you going in the AM, cause I made the mistake of going around Noon . Lol Although I didn't finish the trail due to the heat! It was overall a great hike! Steep Canyon Trailhead 9/10

Did a solo hike here on the weekend and there was a good amount of people. A couple of different routes but they aren't marked very well. If you stay in the outside track, I believe that is supposed to be about 3 miles while the marked inner track is about 1.5 miles. I did that one since it was my first time. Plan on returning and doing the 3 mile one. A pretty standard trail.

Holy steep! Stopped by this steep trail before picking up breakfast in the area and I couldn't believe how tough it was. Hike safely and wear good shoes. Brought my pup with me and he seems to be having a lot of fun walking up and down the stairs and road while I try to balance along with him by myself . We did witnessed a deer! That was pretty neat. If I had more time, I would have explored more. Can't wait to come back! Parking : can park by the entrance. Do not need any parking permit Coffee lovers, there's a coffee shop called Coffee Grid that's 2 minutes away. Great place to grab a cup of joe or pastry before or after the hike.

What a fantastic hike this was! I'm surprised I only recently discovered it seeing that I live 10 min away. Steep Canyon Trail has everything you would want in a hike... varying terrains, beautiful views, and a decent trail time. From start to finish, it's 1.6M loop so some like to do it 3x for a challenge. (I haven't myself haha) Dog friendly. Great hike if you want a booty burn. Can get steep in some areas so be careful. All in all, great trail for the whole family. Will be back for sure!

Visited Steep Canyon Trailhead this past Saturday and really enjoyed the hike! Parked in a residential area off Steep Canyon Road; there was still ample amount of parking when arriving at 9am. The start of the trail begins with stairs which already had me catching my breath a little. Once you reach the top, there are two paths.. straight heading up a steep dirt path or the right path that is a little more flat. Seeing as this was my first time hiking in months and the first time on this trail, I decided to go toward the trail on the right. There were small declines and inclines that led to the Diamond Bar Center but none that were treacherous. Round trip was roughly 2.5 miles and took us about an hour. 300 calorie burn and not mad about it! Lots of lizards on the trail - be careful not to step on any!

Steep but Fun and Healthy !! First time and will come for more specially at sunset time I bet the view would be beautiful . Parking was very easy just find empty spot near residences, this trail also a dog friendly. It was very steep at same areas, so be careful. Make sure you wear a good grip shoes ! I listened to lots of bird chirping and saw some squirrels along the way walking . Recommended this trail even for beginner ! Eventhough it's going to be very steep but still doable . Beware of rattlesnakes, just watch around you while walking specially on summer time. Stay away from the bushes.

If your biker... a runner,.. jogger or hiker - this place will truly challenge you when it comes to the hills! They are brutal unforgiving and a blast once you conquer them! Great views... rest stops along the way... It stretches to around 2.5 loop to a 4 mile loop. My only complaint...a more ummm marked trail along the back stretches... beyond that, parking is easy and safe, and the area is clean and friendly.

Wonderful hiking trail with an amazing view of the city!! In my opinion, I don't think this trail is very kid friendly. I also don't think this trail is stroller friendly. I did see some dogs on the trail. Be sure to wear hiking shoes!! I saw someone slip today on the trail. Wear a hat because there is little shade. Wear plenty of sunscreen. Plenty of parking in the neighborhood for free! Completed the loop in an hour.

Great trail! So this is why it's called steep canyon. The steep inclines you encounter here are no joke. I recommend you have good hiking shoes when coming here. Going up and down here is pretty sketchy if you don't have good traction. Take your time. Parking is not that bad. Not to crowded either. Other than that it's a great workout for your gluteus maximus!

Great workout for sure! I been working out heavy this year and let me tell you. Go around a couple times this here trail and you will feel GOOD! Also took my doggie with me, she loved it and easy on her paws. Only thing is there is a lot of cactus around so be careful with keeping the dog on leash at all times.

This hike as it all ... stairs, inclines and beautiful views. I would not recommend for beginners. I do recommend you wear hiking shoes/boots and hiking pole. I came here today for the first time with a group of friends for a sunrise hike and I am looking forward to returning.

This is a nice trail in the heart of Diamond Bar. It actually starts at a cul de sac in a residential street. Its initially some crazy stairs then a 1.6 mile loop on unpaved hilly roads. Theres not too much foot traffic here and theres plenty of parking on the surrounding streets. The stairs are a good work out for people trying to do stair training. Its crazy how you just have to go s few feet and all of a sudden your in a serene area with birds and wild life around you (even some rattlesnakes). Overall its a short traul to knock out in less then an hour, but with the grade it makes it a good leg work out. Definitely a nice trail to do for those living around diamond bar.

Hooray for solo adventures! I decided to check out this trail alone. I know it's called Steep Canyon Trail head but i literally had to cheer myself on because I was alone and didn't want to slide down the hills. It's very steep. You can park at the end of the cul de sac street. Wednesday's from 11:30 a.m-1:30 p.m is street sweeping! This trail has gorgeous views of the surrounding cities. It does get breezy on top of the hill though.

Top of the hill . Nice clean trail . Beautiful

There is a round about parking near the entrance with a moderate amount of parking spaces but if you go past that further in there are more parking available. The play ground is quite large compared to other smaller park playgrounds. The cool think i like was that stairs from the first parking lot with the restrooms connect to the playground. So kids can jump right into the fun. Next to the playground its surrounded with plenty of picnic tables (concrete) and lets parents sit and relax while the kids play. The playground has multiple entries with two slides? Two monkey bars, stepping stone style elevated steps, a fireman pole, etc... definitely a fun park to come to. There is a little creek adjacent to the playground where you get a nice tranquil stream of flowing water drowned by the screams and laughter of children in the background, lol.. its nice really and something that sets it apart. We did not go further past the stream but there appears to be additional tables and a trail. Had a great time meeting our friends there and enjoying some fun times with the kids in the process. It was very manageable and peaceful. Difficulty-wise, I'd call this a 1.5/5 or 2/5, great for families and casual walkers. As someone who doesn't normally run (and gets bored of a stationary, treadmill view), I felt challenged in a good way. Jogging this had my heart pumping without feeling like I was dying. My friend who hikes Mt. Baldy for fun was with us, and he actually uses this trail as part of his cardio, so it's also great for more seasoned trailgoers looking for something chill! *The Trail: The trailhead is very well maintained, no trash in sight. We saw a few locals and families walking and everyone was friendly. It never felt crowded though we did go on a Tuesday evening. Dogs are welcome as long as they're leashed. The views overlooking the city are nice and there's two small bridges, a few stair sections, and several scenic spots near the top for quick breaks or photos. If you want more distance, there are connecting paths to explore too. There's also shaded areas near the beginning and end. *Parking and Bathrooms: There's plenty of free parking which is always a plus. We didn't go inside this time, but a friend mentioned the bathrooms inside the Diamond Bar Cultural Center are clean. The center itself is beautiful from the outside and there's even a gazebo near the left-hand lot where a family was having a picnic. Whether you're a new runner, walking your dog, out with the family, or on a cute date, this local trail is a great and easygoing way to enjoy nature!
