I really enjoyed this hike. Lots of incline and if you go all the way, it leads you to the English Springs Park. Then if you turn back, you have the option of going through the paved road back to your parked car at the chino community center or you can go back through the trail route. I came here on a Saturday morning at around 7:15am and it was a beautiful day with great weather. It was my first time here so I was really just taking my time and following the people ahead of me. The incline makes it a good workout, just be careful when you are going downhill on some of it - I almost slipped because my pup was going so fast/pulling me. Overall, nice views, not a lot of shade, and you can see some cows along the way! I went this past June but I heard from others that if you go in the spring around March / April, it is absolutely breathtaking with all the blooming flowers! I went to Eucalyptus Trail Loop in June, one because it gets extremely packed during spring and two I just didn't have the time to go when it's beautiful with green hills and flowers, but I'd say it's worth the hike. You get to see some cows during the trail and it's definitely not a beginner hike with some hills, but it's a nice workout regardless. For parking I parked at Chino Chills Community Park which is essentially where the trail starts! (Parking is free) read more

Finally went to Eucalyptus Trail after seeing it blow up on social media and wauuu I loved it so so much. It was so rewarding seeing the cows at the end of the trail :') The hike itself wasn't too bad -- really pretty views. We also came the day after the rain went away and the views were stunning -- snow on the san Gabriel mountains and the cutie cows. We came on a Saturday morning and the parking lot wasn't too packed. Such a pretty hike! We saw grassy rolling hills, mustard flower fields, cows, donkeys, horses. It took a little over an hour and only the first 10 min were hard with the steep incline but I had so much fun! Sunday was busy but not too busy and there were even info booth people on the trail guiding people if they got lost. OH and free parking. 10/10 experience read more

The Eucalyptus Loop Trail continues to be one of my local favorites! It's easy-to-moderate, with a few inclines here and there, and of course the cows and horses that make the 2.5 miles feel totally worth it! This time I brought a friend and two of my dogs (the trail is dog-friendly as long as they're leashed). We arrived about an hour and a half before sunset on a Thursday and started from the left side of the Community Center parking lot where the painted rocks are. The mile markers every 0.5 miles also help with letting you know how far you've come and how much is left. There were plenty of other hikers out too, like families, kids, fellow dog owners, etc. Golden hour made everything look extra pretty, like the green spring hills, open meadows, and even the sky. With some photo breaks, it took us about 1.5 hours to complete the hike, but you could easily finish in under an hour if you're not constantly stopping to admire the views lol. Next time, I think I'd start from the right side so the cows and horses show up earlier in the loop instead of being the "final reward" at the end haha read more

The Eucalyptus trail starts right next to the chino hills community park off of Eucalyptus Ave and Peyton Dr. The parking lot doesn't open so early so you might have to park at the Chino Hills Community Center and walk over to the start. This trail is beautiful, with a little bit of incline. The hike itself is probably about 3 miles. Beautiful views, not stroller friendly. read more

This is the best walking trail around. Scenery is beautiful. Great landscape, greenery, animals to see. There are a few challenging slopes but you can also stay on the street trail for a more flat walk. There are also restaurants nearby for breakfast before or lunch after. Lots of green space and dog-friendly. Please remember to pick up after your dogs and take your empty bottles and trash with you! read more

I really enjoyed this trail walk/hike. There are different routes 2.5miles and 3.5miles. It will take between 1-1.5 hour. We did the longer route. Some incline and decline for about a mile and the rest is flat. You'll always walk by all the farms...we saw horses and cows. It was fun! read more

This is actually the McCoy Trail Loop. The names on social media and yelp are incorrect. Make sure you check Google Maps and the signs. If you take the Eucalyptus Trail Loop you will be mostly on city streets, which will eventually take you only partially through the scenery. Once you go on the right loop, the McCoy loop is the beautiful trail other reviewers have mentioned, with animals, scenic views, and an easy walk. read more

Generally, if you start from north towards the hills, its easier to get around the loop, which ranges from 3.5 to 4 miles, depending on which trail you take. If you start from entry point head east and towards the community center - the run is all gradual up hill. 50% is paved and the rest is dirt trails with good to above average scenery. Located by a popular park, the area is busy, and there are many people on the trails. There are benches along the way, a short steep down hill or uphill depending on the starting point. Trails are clean, we'll labeled and based on the workout- from easy to moderate- but mostly an easy trail. Its a fast trail.for joggers walkers and runners. Pets allowed, and baggies for their poop are available. Negative? No bathrooms on the trails, didn't really see any animals that were close up and lack of true trail system . No real curves or extended challenges. But, positive, it is an active trail. read more

The first part of loop is the best part to me. It's a challenging, yet has a steady incline and the decline is just the same. When you get to the road portion of the trail it lacks the nature and dirt trail altogether, making it just a walk on pavement. In fact, while completing the back half of the Eucalyptus Trail loop, we had to move over to the side of the road for cars to pass. Next time, once I reach the road I'll just turnaround and go back up the way we came down. I alao like this outdoor trail because it is wide...wide enough to accommodate large groups at once. I went with a group of 30 and we were all able to spread out and have enough room to walk during the hike. And on a hot summer day, come with your water bottle to replenish as you hike up the hill. read more

So I've been coming to this trail for the past 2 weeks and all this time we thought we were doing Eucalyptus but we have been doing McCoy trail loop. We take the backwards route to start with the hills first. Along the beginning of the trail on the first hill coming from the Peking lot, there is a row of many decorated rocks with inspirational quotes. I want to bring my rock next week. The trail can be challenging because there are a total of 5 hills I believe and then majority of the trail is going downhill. Once you get into the area behind the homes, there are a few more hills. Overall, definitely a good hike. To challenge yourself, you can also walk over to Veterans Park and walk around the lake to get some extra steps. We found out that Eucalyptus trail runs through Chino Hills Parkway which I didn't like to much since lots of traffic. Either way both trails are great and you can also improvise and change your route when you get there. The trails are full with people so no need to worry. I'll be back next week so hopefully I get to see the regulars!!! read more

Beautiful trail in Chino Hills. Goes up around the baseball fields, curves downward towards and past cow farms and horse stables. It's a solid workout on the incline upward. Not too difficult for our family with kids to handle. We love it for convenience, and the animals are a bonus for my youngest. Worth a regular visit if you like to hike and exercise. read more

I love this hike. There's always lots of parking at the community center. Bring a rock to leave at the trail. It's about a 3 mile hike. Lots of gorgeous views and LOTS of animals. there is an equestrian farm near the end of the trail. You can view the horses and donkeys there. There are also some goats, cows along the way. This trail is ranked beginner, but the first two hills are definitely a killer. At the end of the two hills, there is a path where you can split into the left or the right. The right completes the loop, but I would recommend turning left to go to the park restroom. The park name is English Springs Park and there is a pond in the middle with lots of ducks and turtles. Last time, my partner and I were aiming for a more strenuous hike, so we just turned around after going up the two hills and went up them again to go back to our car. I was definitely feeling the soreness the next day. read more

So, as a novice hiker, I think this trail was perfect! My tracker mapped it at 3.2 miles, so basically a 5k. You can walk and talk without losing too much breath . The scenery is BEAUTIFUL! It's a quick and easy loop; just follow the signs. It only took us a little over an hour after a couple of stops. One, after the initial big hill, and then again at the very top, where you can experience a wonderful view of rolling green hills and livestock grazing. Friendly to walkers, runners, families, and dogs. IT WAS A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE TO NOT HAVE TO STEP AROUND DOG EXCREMENT!! Horse excrement is a different story. Bring a painted rock to put on the painted rock path, which is either at the beginning or the end of the trail, depending on where you start. Parking is free & in the community center parking lot. Eucalyptus Trail Loop - Hiking Near Me - Chino Hills, California

This has become one of my favorite local hikes! I do it at least once every 1-2 weeks. It's a loop that's just over 3 miles. I understand some people's frustration with the second half of the hike as it's not much of a hike at all, just a nature walk - but I still really enjoy it! The thing to do is park at the Community Park Parking lot, and then walk over to the trailhead. If this is your first time, it might be a bit confusing as there are two trails that kind of overlap. You will want to not walk along the road, and veer to the right on the dirt path that will lead you to the first big incline. If you're new to hiking, this first incline may seem intimidating, but just take your time and pace yourself. This hill is not indicative of the entire hike, and you'll be glad that you stuck with it. The first 30 minutes include rolling hills with inclines and declines, the first incline being the toughest and the last incline being the big final push in the end. Again, for experienced hikers, these may not be much of anything, but as someone who used to loathe hiking and would also search yelp for information of what exactly I was getting myself into, I want to help out the novice hikers. After that, it's pretty much downhill and then a flat paved road walking past some equestrian centers. This is the part a lot of people don't like. I think it's what's unique about this hike and really great for people who are trying to build up their endurance on hikes. I actually like to jog most of the second half to increase my calorie burn. This makes it a really great workout for me! And fast! I get the whole thing done in about 40 minutes that way. My favorite part of this hike are the views. I love the views at the top of the rolling hills. If you want the best views, do the hike right before the sun sets, and you'll get the pink skies by the mountain and get to watch the sun set behind the hill - but don't take too long at the top admiring it as it will get dark fast and you don't want it to be too dark for the second half of your hike. Pay attention to weather. If it's hot and sunny, bring a hat and some glasses. If it's on the nippier side, bring layers as it gets chilly up top as well as on the decline due to some more wooded type areas. All in all, a quick, fun hike that I really love! read more

This review is for McCoy Loop, which is 3.3 miles long and considered a moderate hike. The hills are a decent challenge and there are many picturesque photo opportunities along the trail. That said, not everything is great. People don't seem to clean up after their dogs so watch out for land mines...yikes!! Also, there is an area with several trash bins and it stinks pretty badly. Other than that, it really is a great trail. Hikers will be greeted by great views, cows grazing in the pasture, and a handful of horse ranches. I highly recommend. read more

Im going to start off by piggybacking off of some reviews and agree that parking at the community park parking lot off of eucalyptus is best and easiest way to find the trailhead... This is a good trail for hikers of all levels. It's not too easy but not very difficult either. If you're an experienced hiker this can feel like a breeze, or short challenge. For the non experienced, yes it is a challenge. But if you pace yourself and take breaks, you can do it too. And trust me, it is worth it. The entire hike consists of incline, downhill, rolling hills, strolling through a paved street with homes, ranches, equestrian centers, and a dog training/ boarding facility along the way. I really enjoy this hike because it's scenic, quiet, with low foot traffic, and the horses towards the middle-end of the hike brighten up my day. Things to remember and consider... On a hot day without hesitation take water. Maybe even a snack just incase you get hungry or a bit lightheaded from the heat. Wear a hat; the first and most difficult part of the hike has little to no shade. On a cool day take a light sweater. You might get a bit cold on the way back. Rainy day- personally, I do not recommend. It gets really muddy. But if you don't mind, go for it! The hike is a little over 3 miles~ about an hour hike, give or take if you don't make many stops. Parents- if you have little ones, want to get a good workout in and have a stroller with some sturdy wheels, you can definitely roll that baby up, down, and around this hike. I've seen it done multiple times by other parents. I've also seen families with members of all ages hiking along the trail and It's actually pretty inspiring. Love seeing families bonding and being active at the same time :) Dog owners- very good hike to tire out that fur baby of yours. It may be difficult for some dogs depending on condition and experience but overall I've seen dogs of all shapes and sizes on this trail. Just don't forget to bring water for them too! Overall, I think this hike is a hidden gem. And I think anyone that gives it a shot will find something they like about it too :) read more
