Not bad- I have eaten here 2 times now in a matter of days. First night was a burger and shake- it was quite good! The Oreo shake was very smooth. The burger was cooked to medium- service was good! But will definitely be back again for another burger. I went for breakfast on AM- had the breakfast special and pancakes. Again it was good- the sausage was made in home- nice to see- and was very good- but also very greasy. Everything else on the plate- home fries, eggs, toast, and pancakes were all delicious. We were driving up to Buffalo, taking the scenic route and decided to stop here for a late lunch. I had the hot roast beef sandwich - delicious, especially the real mashed potatoes and there was plenty of gravy. My dad had the rueben which was also excellent, and my grandma had the grilled ham and cheese which she greatly enjoyed. We decided to have something sweet afterwards and had a piece of peach pie. Great food and very classic. Friendly staff. Their best menu seems to be their specials of the day. Spaghetti with meatball is something you should try. Also Pie is pretty cheap and delicious. $10for whole pie and you should get one if they are willing to. 10 different flavors of pies but they run out quickly. If you are lucky they will allow you to buy a whole pie. Or order ahead and they will make it for whatever flavor for couple more dollars. read more

I stepped into this cozy little diner, hesitant I must admit. Any time I am in an area where I am unfamiliar, it is always hit or miss as far as food is concerned. This place is ABSOLUTELY a hit! We went here on a recent road trip from Chicago to DC. Great food and good service. I had a standard eggs and bacon breakfast. My adventurous husband had a regional dish... scrapple. He enjoyed it. We topped off breakfast by splitting a couple pieces of pie... graham cracker and coconut cream. Both were delicious! We were told they were hand made that morning! Stopped here on a long road trip on a tip from a friend. It's pretty much everything a diner is supposed to be. Looked like a diner, felt like a diner, and had the standard American diner menu to go with it. Some things were a bit interesting, but for the most part it was traditional fare. The food was fantastic. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meal thoroughly. And the food wasn't just good--it was cheap. Dirt cheap. And they didn't make up for the low cost with small portions. There were a lot of "best"s thrown around when we were done eating. My only complaint was that service was a bit slow and the kitchen seemed to be lagging behind. It wasn't anything ridiculous, but 25 minutes of waiting after ordering--when the orders for my table were essentially pancakes, eggs, and a burger--seemed a bit long. The place wasn't particularly busy at the time, and we weren't ever really provided a reason. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it was likely a one-time mistake, but ending up in a restaurant for almost an hour when on the road will slow down your trip substantially. This place is GREAT! I'm from Delaware and my grandparents are from emporium pa and on our way in we were going to stop at Maggie's sports bar but the reviews were awful... So we ended up looking across the street and there was the summit diner. Decided to give it a go and turned out to be the best decision we made so far. Classic diner food but BETTER. The coleslaw is great and my grandfather said the mushroom burger was one of the best burgers he's ever had. I had the Ruben and it was also great! The service was fast and everyone was super nice! All food came out steaming hot so you know it doesn't wait on the counter. Will defiantly be back if I ever visit somerset again! The sever Katie is the sweetest! read more

Not very clean, do not like the food, do not like the service, and I have stopped going here. It's been a good year since I have been inside, but the last time I was I went with my husband. We ordered breakfast. They got our order wrong twice, both his and mine. The scrapple and the eggs were not fully cooked. The service took forever even when we were getting seated. The prices are okay, but not worth the product. Parking is a bit annoying. The bathrooms are clean but tiny tiny tiny. read more

02/04/2017 visit We are from Duncannon PA and came to town for a birthday party. We are adoptive parents of five. Making us a party of 7, due to our size they sat us in back dining area where seating is for maximum 6. We ordered drinks which, coffee was lukewarm and one soda was in a filthy cup that needed to be washed and served with stuff floating in it. One drink was missing from the group Waitress took our order and we ordered simple things, pancakes, eggs, hot open faced sandwiches salads and soups. Pancakes were not cooked (runny pancake mix in middle) eggs were sunnyside up and under cooked. open faced beef sandwich was cold, soup has had a oil substance floating on top. Waitress apologized and took pancakes back, eggs were left and sandwich was left. We waited another 20 minutes for food to return and it did not. We flagged down the waitress, paid our bill and went to Mcdonalds for better service, better prices and food that was cooked. I paid 36 dollars for pretty bad food. I tried to call and speak with management and was told no one in charge to call in am. I called several times to speak with someone in am and phone just rings. read more

I stopped in here because of the good reviews. I was asked if I would sit at the counter because I was by myself. I told them I would prefer to sit at a booth (I get uncomfortable in groups of people and like my privacy). I was immediately served coffe and Orange juice and my order was taken. After sitting and watching people who came in after me get food, and waiting for over 30 minutes, I had to leave because of my schedule. I spent 10 mins just making an account just so I can review this horrible "so called" diner. If you like no atmosphere this is the place for you! No music, just the sound of the cooks in the back yelling, and a loud baby crying. We all know the term " The customer is always right!", this term does not apply in this diner. Our waitress was wrong... We were actually right, trust me there was witnesses to me ordering my food. She actually argued with me! She even threatened me with the amount of time it would take to remake the food... I didn't want her to take my food back, I was legit fearful of a nice drop of spit in my food. So I was forced to swallow the waitress' mistake... Instead of SUMMIT diner, they should rename it BOTTOM diner, because it's definitely at the bottom of my choices to eat... read more

I just moved to Somerset. This place is a treasure. I'm from NYC people. And there is amazing food there to say the least. The Summit has the BEST (not some of the best but the BEST) pancakes I have ever had. Been there a total of 5 times since I moved. Every single time they were light, fluffy, and perfect. I can't say anything for their food other than breakfast. They have a bunch of dinner and lunch options but I've only gone in yet for breakfast. Highly HIGHLY recommend the Summit Diner. read more

Although the summit claims to be wheelchair accessible, the wheelchair access to the restaurant is via a ramp in the back of the building and through a back door which is normally locked. When they were asked to open the door they said go around and knock on the door. After ten minutes of two people knocking we gave up. I guess the ramp gets them passed the ADA regulation but good luck at getting into the building via a wheelchair. They might just as well have a sign saying "wheelchairs are not welcome here". read more

We stopped in here for dinner based on earlier reviews and didn't regret it. I had a steak and cheese sandwich, and they're serious about the butcher on site. The serving sizes were more than ample (the club sandwich was huge), and everything was tasty. We liked it so much that we skipped the complimentary continental breakfast at our hotel the next morning to get breakfast here. Homemade sausage and chipped beef on toast. I love the Summit Diner! My friends and I used to go there after school and get french fries with gravy. They are still just as good as they were then. Yesterday my husband and I went there for lunch. I had a Reuben sandwich and he had breakfast. Everything was really good. Our waitress was super nice and efficient and they were so busy but everyone was working really hard. This is a must try for out of town out-of-towners, it is a really good local place to eat. read more
