S8. General Tso's Chicken lunch special with wonton soup and egg roll.
Eleanor V.

General Tso's Chicken was pretty good, nice and spicy but the rice tasted funny. It was undercooked and the strong taste of oil used to make it meant it was probably old oil being re-used. The wonton soup was probably the best thing I had, the egg roll was meh... just ok.

Chicken and broccoli combo

Sultan Wok left menus on my door last week and I decided to give them a try this past Friday night and boy was I impressed! I ordered on their online portal (so convenient) and within minutes they called me to get my payment information and within 30 minutes, I had the food delivered to my door. This was extremely impressive, seeing as I am not even in the same town as the restaurant. When the food arrived it was STEAMING hot so I know it didn't sit around waiting to be delivered. I had the chicken and broccoli combo dinner and my boyfriend had the boneless ribs combo. Both were very good. However, the boneless ribs were the better of the 2 meals. What stuck out about the ribs was that they were thick cut unlike many other Chinese restaurants. This made a big difference and they were absolutely delicious. The only negative I can say about my dinner was the fried rice was a bit too salty for my taste- but this didn't stop me from eating the entire portion lol I will be ordering from Sultan Wok in the future for sure.

Pan fried chicken dumplings

I ordered lunch delivery from Sultan Wok. My lunch special did not make it to the delivery minimum, so I added the pan fried chicken dumplings. I was also given lots of sauce packets, a fortune cookie, fried noodle chips, and utensils. The shrimp chow mein was alright. I kept looking up images of chow mein online to see what I would be receiving. There were many different images, and I wasn't expecting my food to look the way it was. Regardless, it was nice to have a mostly vegetable meal. The pork fried rice was delicious. Not salty or anything. I poured soy sauce and hot sauce over both the shrimp chow mein and pork fried rice for extra flavor. I really loved the pan fried chicken dumplings. They come with a dipping sauce that tastes a little salty. The dumplings were fried to perfection. They had a slight crunch and then were soft on the inside. The chicken on the inside was flavorful. I preferred these over the shrimp chow mein. I'll definitely be ordering the pan fried chicken dumplings from here again.

Satay chicken and peanut sauce

Ordered delivery and the gentleman who took my order was so pleasant. The satay chicken was superb and enough for three people. Excellent food and value. My husband ordered general tso chicken and boneless spare ribs. Very flavorful and a large portion. Will definitely order from here again!

American roll, Christmas roll, spicy salmon roll, and Alaska roll.
Jb R.

We ordered 4 sushi rolls for delivery. Christmas roll (tuna, avocado, tobiko): for someone who usually hates tuna, this roll was actually not bad. Tuna is fresh. Spicy salmon roll: it's okay. It's a little too mushy for me, but I could see how other people would like it. Alaska roll (cooked salmon and cucumber): this roll is very good. Taste and texture both on point. American roll (shrimp tempura, cucumber, crab cake, avocado): this is my favorite one. There are 4 pieces instead of 6, but the pieces are huge. The rolls fell apart easily and were a little sloppy, but they weren't bad. Overall okay. You cannot login to your account on their website on mobile. If you try to do this, you will get a notification that says the email and password aren't associated with an account. You can only login on an actual computer, so this isn't always the most convenient for placing an order online. Delivery took longer than expected.

Have nothing bad to say about this restaurant, which has been in Highland Park for 17 years (we just never tried them out, surprisingly!) We got their flyers all the time though.... :-) and yes, they deliver to North Brunswick! That's quite a range to cover. Ordered the basics: Chicken w/cashew lunch special and Chicken Pad Thai. I asked for low sodium, low oil preparation, and the server politely said that they do not add salt, except for the soy sauce. And it shows in the result -- it's really not oily, and not salty at all. While the pad thai is missing the basil, it's still delicious. The lunch special has a more than average quality, both with generous portions. The place itself is small and cramped space inside, with only two small tables with high chairs camouflaged among stacks of boxes of take-out menus, so obviously it's geared for take-outs. Overall, pleasantly surprised with this "find".

the waiting and sitting area

Very small low key place. It's more for take out. The wait was not long for my Boston Roll, which was delicious. The only bad thing was that the ginger was really really dry. They have great reasonable prices and they don't limit themselves to just sushi. Came here for lunch from New Brunswick because of their prices. Would definitely come back to try the Chinese food.

The Bento Box A :/ it's burnt. Next photo has flash if ur worried about my lighting.
Kamilee P.

So I loved this place the sushi was decent UNTILLLLL I got a chicken bento box A. And well, you get the gist from the pictures. Don't get anything from the cooked menu honestly. Last time I got sweet and sour chicken and it was completely soggy by the time it came bc they packed the chicken so tightly in a Chinese take out box that it started to get steamy and soggy. Idk. The quality of this place really isn't it. And I can usually take eating sub-par food well.

We finally made it here after exhausting all the nearby restaurants. The restaurant is medium in size, with pale yellow walls and cushy burgundy seats covering the dark brown floors. Framed black and white photos adorn the leftmost wall while the name of the restaurant is on the rightmost wall along with a framed painting. Finally, in the back, you can see the counter, which has a lucky cat and some plants on it, as well as a large painting of pink flowers in a pond behind it all. We ordered the following: Baby oyster omelet, which has pan fried baby oyster omelet with chives- this was delicious. We haven't had this for a while and enjoyed it a lot. Golden fried eggplant, which is lightly fried eggplant with cubes of bell peppers and onions. We all liked this dish a lot, as well. It was nicely fried. Claypot egg noodle, which has pearl noodle with minced pork, shrimp, squid, bean sprout in egg gravy. We've been looking for this entree for a while. Last time Hubs had this was 15 years ago and it was 30 years ago for me. Hubs loved this dish. Basil fish filet, which is stir fried fish filet with bell peppers, onions, basil leave and mushrooms. I thought this looked sweet and sour and was surprised it wasn't. Daughter liked it a lot and was addicted. Hubs was shocked at how flavorful it was. There were plenty of onion and peppers. There is parking in the back of the building but we managed to find a parking space in the front. It's a little tricky parking there but we managed. Service was quick and minimal. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu.

Most dishes also range below $20 so it's super affordable for the amount of food you're getting for New Jersey. I would say that if you were a smaller eater, you can make this two meals. If you're a college student also it is so close to the Rutgers university campus. I remember a lot of people mentioning four seasons when I was a student at Rutgers. Lots of people order takeout, and they constantly had people pick up food. I'm sure some of that was the students. It had a very large menu of different Thai foods. I will say that I go very basic with Thai usually going for the pad see ew or pad Thai. They had a lot more on the menu and they also had different stars around the most popular menu items. They also have classic Thai tea if you wanted to get a drink. You had the option also to pick your spiciness level and I will say that I picked mild and it was on the spicier side so they do not play around. If you can't handle spice, don't get any spice at all! You can also pick the protein that you want with options like beef, chicken, and tofu. I will say the pad see ew very delicious, but it also wasn't necessary the best pad see ew I've ever had. Still, though with the price and the reliability of the place, it is un beatable. Service was fast. Also, it was self seating and also self paying. At the end of our time at the restaurant we waited a little bit longer because we didn't realize that we had to pay up at the counter. They had around 40 people worth of seating. The interior is a more cozy lived in wooden designed space. I wouldn't say that the interior was anything that was remarkably special, meaning the food was just made selling point. There is parking around the area so I wouldn't say that would be a problem either. It shares parking with the local other shops in that strip plaza.

We even asked for an extra small rice so we could eat the rest of the dipping sauce. We also ordered the Hainanese chicken, which was tender, juicy, and simply prepared, letting the quality of the chicken shine. The chili sauce on the side added the perfect kick.
