3/2021 Inedible Shrimp Crunch Roll (notice half of it is only rice rolled up in a soggy roll)
    Jen S.

Uber eats takeout sushi tonight and Uber eats delivered efficiently, but the food was not so great. Shrimp crunch roll that is almost $10, with half of it missing the shrimp crunch. I tried to eat two pieces, and the texture was just so unusually soggy, like that of an imitation crab "pâté" ...Just very soggy/mushy rice/topping -couldn't tell which part it was; and almost unusually sour. Also tried their Korean Fried Rice (about $6/7) with Beef as well and I actually enjoyed their fried rice. It has great texture and peppery goodness and decently sufficed since I passed on the sushi. I definitely suggest passing on the sushi.

One of my favorite takeout spots while I was a student at Rutgers. I always went for the fat cup with either spicy pork or bulgogi and it never served me wrong when I was stressed about exams or boys. Pretty affordable, filling, and consistent. Nothing crazy but always hit the spot.

Ordered for Uber eats pick up. The food came hot, but some of the foods was inedible. The ordered the fat bowl with bulogi (good), shrimp tempura (minimal shrimp and extremely overcooked), tempura crab (overcooked), and a fried egg (extremely over cooked, not one drop of egg yolk). I also ordered two pieces of spam musubi and that was good, however you can't mess up spam. I would not recommend the fat bowl at all. Also, the charge you extra for everything you put in that bowl.

I have been coming here since I was a freshman at Rutgers University. This place is right off Easton Ave. It is small, but there are dine-in tables available if you want to eat there. The cashiers there are very friendly and accomodating. When I come, I usually order the fat cup with chicken katsu. You can choose the toppings and what you want as the sides. I personally think the food is alright. The fat cup is filling, but the majority of the bowl is rice. Since I get the chicken katsu, they have a sauce they put on top of the chicken which I really like. I do wish they put more of it though because it gives more flavor to the chicken and overall bowl. I have also tried their musubi, but it is definitely not worth the price for spam, rice, and seaweed. Overall, I feel like the food is alright and consistent. I personally don't come here that often anymore because I feel like there are better food around the area for a better price. However, if you want to try Korean-Japanese fusion type food, I would recommend you coming here.

Should have read the reviews before I went here. Ordered takeout sushi and wow. Almost inedible? I don't like to leave overly negative reviews but this seems to be a pattern here? Ordered a sushi roll with tempura shrimp in the center and it was so hard, that I opened it up to investigate. It was all tempura no shrimp! Seems to be a pattern at this place. Maybe stick to the ramen which I've heard is decent here.

I came here for the second time and was truly impressed. This is the best poke place in town! I ordered the Korean bowl and it was under $15. It came in a really big bowl, bigger than the ones you'd get normally, with rice on the side. The variety and quantity of fish was generous. I had enough for two meals. I recommend this place and will be a returning customer. This place is better than Scarlet Bowl on Easton.

We all ordered fat cups and were satisfied with the proteins and toppings we chose. The bowls were reasonably priced at about $9 and one of my friends stated that "the amount served was perfect to make my stomach content". If you don't finish your food, since the fat cups are served in plastic bowls, there are caps provided if you want to take home the leftovers. The only downside of this location is that the interior is small and there is limited sitting for groups. There are 2 two person tables and 1 four person table. However, overall, the food was good and the exterior even has paintings that my friend enjoyed enough to take a picture with.

So far, I've had delivery from here twice and each time it was pretty consistent: ~30 minute delivery, same quality and quantity of food. They have a pretty simple menu with a variety of items that are well-priced for the area. I've had the fat cup and it has been decent each time. The bulgogi is kinda comparable to the already-marinated bulgogi at H-Mart. The shrimp tempura was just okay, but because of delivery wasn't crispy. The fried egg was great since they cook it over-easy with the yolk still running. The rice was a bit on the moist side, I guess since it tends to take up the juices from the other stuff, but nothing special. Overall, there is a lot of food in a fat cup, so if you're looking for quantity, I guess this is your kind of place. The quality of the food is alright and after ordering the bulgogi, I thought, why didn't I just go to H-Mart and cook the bulgogi myself? On the bright side, the Edo wings were great since they were really crispy and the sauce, although sweet is pretty flavorful. If you're looking for a place to fill you up at a decent price, this is your place to go. Otherwise, don't expect too much with the taste of the food.

Ok, I went a little crazy after I first discovered this place. Let's just say that within the first week of discovering this place, I went back 3 times in a week and the chefs started recognizing me. *facepalm* This place is known for their fat cups.... I know, the name isn't that appealing but the amount of food, flavor of the food, and the price for all of it? You can't beat it. The fat cups consists of a base of rice and you choose one meat, 2 sides, and a topping. The first time I went, I ordered the teriyaki chicken fat cup with shrimp tempura/fried egg and nori flakes. The second time I went, I got a spicy pork fat cup with shrimp tempura/fried egg and nori flakes. I also ordered the sea food pancake and specified that I would like it super crunchy and they fulfilled this request. I am very picky when it comes to seafood pancake and this place was not only super crunchy but also thick and had a lot of seafood in it. Now the third time I went, I ordered the eel avocado bowl. This was the only thing I ordered from here that disappointed me. There was barely any eel or avocado and the rice in the bowl had way too much rice vinegar in it. I have to say that it's a LOT of food for about $9~ In addition, the fried egg and shrimp tempura combo hasn't failed me and I would highly recommend.

I ate about half the portion of my Korean style poke bowl; the sashimi was not fresh, I loaded it with the sauce and even like that I couldn't continue to finish it. My husband had one of the dragon rolls and it was mostly rice, definitely the worst roll I've ever had. We had the spicy crab salad and it was decent.

Chicken Katsu, shrimp tempura fat bowl.

First time I ordered food from here. I got delivery. 2 fat bowls. The first one with chicken katsu and shrimp tempura. The chicken in the chicken Carey is the thinnest piece of chicken I have evvvvver seen. Don't get the chicken katsu unless you just want to eat fried batter and that's all. I think I just ordered the wrong items. Next time I'll try something with sauce on it like the chicken teriyaki or bulgogi. Hopefully they give more meat next time. If they don't I'll let you guys know. The portions are bigger then they look in pictures so that's a plus.

EDO SUSHI IS AMAZING. The service, music and food is always great at EDO. They have indoor and outdoor seating. There's not a lot of seating so be mindful of that. There's only two parking spots and most of the time you need to find street parking but the street that the restaurant is located on usually has. I recently went and tried the sweet potato roll, the shogun roll and the shrimp tempura roll. Wow.. it was all amazing. Especially that sweet potato roll was very very good and a must try. Make sure you ask for their spicy mayo that went so well with every roll I've tried.

    Gloria K.

We got takeout and both ordered fat cups. One was bulgogi with chicken fingers and shrimp tempura. The other was chicken teriyaki with shrimp tempura and spring rolls. Food was pretty good. Great portion size, it was extremely filling. I would definitely say if you're looking for quantity over quality, this is the place. However my only complaint is that the fat cup is filled with mostly rice. We also ordered dumplings which was pretty good.

    Do they deliver?

Hi, we deliver through Eat Street.

Is the restaurant still there though? I think there is an Indian restaurant there now.

It's in a new location, just around the corner on Condict St, and kind of hidden. You won't see it until you're standing right in front of it.

Like many people today, I'm mindful of what I spend dining out, so I expect good value for the price. Since I live in South Jersey, I brought the food home to eat later. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The ramen included four slices of chashu (pork belly), but three of those slices were entirely fat with no meat. I understand that pork belly naturally contains fat--that's part of what makes it flavorful--but receiving pieces that were essentially all fat made the dish unpleasant and felt like poor quality control. I called the restaurant to share my concern, but the response was underwhelming. I was simply told the manager would be informed. When I asked if there was anything further that could be done, I received no real resolution--just a basic explanation of what pork belly is. As someone who understands the product, that explanation missed the point. The issue wasn't what chashu is--it was the quality of what was served. Everything else about the meal was fine, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. However, customer service matters just as much as the food. A simple effort to address the issue or offer a solution would have made a big difference. As a former business owner, I've always believed customer satisfaction should be a top priority. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here, and for that reason, I won't be returning.

I've eaten at Ottoyee for months now, and each experience has been incredibly delicious. However, the only thing is that the wait time can run very long. Not for the food to arrive, but for placing the order. We tried to get the attention of the waiter on staff multiple times, but was either ignored or they were behind the screen attending to something else. The wait time was around 15-20 minutes, but this is likely attributed to the small staff. Otherwise though, they were incredibly kind and knowledgeable of the menu and we still had a delicious experience as usual.

Upon entertaining on a weekend evening, there were a few tables with patrons but not too busy. The restaurant did seem a bit understaffed with only one person taking orders / bringing food out, making it difficult to flag down this one person to successfully take our order and ask for anything additional throughout the night. Gyudon: for the price, we were really surprised at how small of a portion this was. It was not only in a small bowl, but the meat was layered on top perfectly deceiving you to think that there was more than there actually was. The majority of this dish was rice, and with limited sauce at that. As displayed on the menu images it was to be served with a runny egg, but unfortunately we got a fully cooked one (disappointing, as we were looking for something to mix with the rice!) Sushi: We got a 3 rolls and they were just alright. They were pretty small in size, with less rice than I'm used to (which is something I do like - I would rather more fish than rice!) With us getting spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and spicy scallop - they all kind of tasted the same, so I wish the fish wasn't as heavily masked with spicy mayo. Ramen: I got the black garlic ramen, and it wasn't the best, but wasn't the worst. I've purchased fresh ramen packages in the supermarket before and it tasted just like that, so it made me disappointed knowing I could achieve the same at home. The soup itself was extremely rich and fatty, and the charsiu had no flavor whatsoever leaving much to be desired. The main reason I'm rating this so low is upon having my last bites of sushi, I could tell something was off. I don't recall which specifically I had but I made a statement that it was extremely fishy and off putting. Fast forward later that night, I was hunched over the toilet vomiting with stomach pain - and I can deduct that the sushi was the culprit. I might consider trying Ottoyee again due to the great deals they have listed on food delivery apps, but the sushi quality (quite literally) put a bad taste in my mouth.

One major plus: street parking is way easier here compared to the Bayard St location. No circling the block endlessly or needing to pay metered parking -- we found free parking right out front, which made the whole experience feel way more relaxed. Any downsides? The Easton spot is smaller, with fewer tables and a tighter layout.
